The sound of the embers breaking as the fire burned around them as they kept the darkness of the night away. The traveler sat before the children, much like he had done before, and began to tell the same story that had kept both the children in front of him and their parents alive.

He spoke about a land where men who dressed in strange green garments and held equally strange weapons ruled. He talked about a village that was surrounded by different walls, wood, rock, dirt, and even metal.

I was a land that felt separated from the rest of the world a place where both the monsters and the invaders had failed to reach, either because they simply hadn't found it, or because its protectors had proven too great for them.

The wind blew and as it carried the smell of ash and smoke the man talked about the villages that surrounded the strange place and how plump the people looked. It was there that he sold and traded the goods that he had with him and where his story began.

It was when the sun was setting and the cool breeze of the night had made itself known that the people from one of the villages warned him not to stay out during the night, as the creatures prowled for unsuspecting victims.

He was young back then and like any young man he was arrogant, he didn't listen to the people's warnings and because of that, he lost everything except his horse and dog, the two things that kept him alive. He stopped talking as the memory of his old friends suddenly entered his mind.

The growls and howls in the distance force him to keep quiet, as the animals and guards look into the blackness of the land around them searching for something but they fail to find anything.

The people of the village had told him that if the monsters did find him, then he should run to the brightest lights because it was there that someone might be willing to help him.

He rode his horse as the creatures clawed and bit at both him and his horse, he could hear his dog barking while biting and running at his side, as it tried to escape the creatures.

He stopped talking again when the horses began to stand and gathered together sensing danger. The horse's ears moved back and forth searching for any noise that proved that there was something that shouldn't be there.

He continued with his story and told the children how his dog let out a cry in pain before a pair of glowing red eyes glared at him through the darkness, his horse followed, and the poor creature was pulled down by something before it was dragged into the darkness where its screams of pain were quickly silenced.

Fear would have kept him from moving, but something deep inside of him forced his body to move and before he knew it, he had fallen into a hole where several men were waiting.

He must have tripped over something because bells began to ring and before he knew it fires began to burn driving the darkness of the night back revealing the werewolves who were eating his horse.

The monsters glared at the fires, it was as if their very existence was an insult to them.

The werewolves let out an angry howl and charged at the men, who raised their weapons and from then fire spilled, the monsters cried in pain but the defensders attacks were enough to kill the beast. Some did fall but there were so many monsters that it didn't matter if the defenders had killed them.

It was when the monsters were about to reach the hole he was in that a group of men that were made of metal charged and met the werewolves in combat.

The sound of metal claws and flesh is something he could never forget, even now when the same fate awaits not just him but those around him.

He can see them, the cold yellow, red, and white eyes of the werewolves glaring at him as they circle the camp. The creatures don't have to look for a weakness, they know that they are stronger than any of them, but they are so close to Murica that the men in green could come if enough noise is made.

He slowly reached into his coat and felt the thing that the men had given him. They had warned him not to use it if he was too far because they could not risk separating themselves from their home and leaving themselves or their home undefended, but if he didn't use it then what chance did they have.

In a move that would decide the fate of everyone he lifted the strange item and pulled at the string, a light flew from the stick he held in his hands and the pitch blackness of night became an angry red, that revealed the monsters surrounding them.

The sound of the animals and people around him made the fear he felt grow beyond terror, as the small hope he had vanished before it returned.

In the distance, he could see a light growing and the sound of bells ringing, they were faint at first but they were growing louder and the werewolves knew it.

The monster's eyes turned, and he could feel them glaring at him, ignoring the people around him. The largest of the monsters let out a small growl that seemed to order the other to get closer, as the men prepared themselves to fight for their lives.

He didn't know when the men in green arrived, everything happened so fast, he just knew that when it was over, there were a lot of people left.

With trembling eyes, he tried to look back and he found the metal men tearing the heads of the monsters free from the bodies. The men of metal threw the monster's heads into the darkness where the glowing eyes of the werewolves glared back.

One of the metal men raised his great sword and stepped forward, but another placed its hand on its shoulder forcing it to stop. He watched as the men in green looked for survivors while the men of metal protected them.
