~The Story Thus Far~

It is the half-way of the XXI Century, an age of unprecedented social and technological upheaval.

Nearly a decade ago, Japanese scientist, Shinonono Tabane, had unvield new technology -the Infinite Stratos.
Meant to originally explore Outer Space, this complicated system of powered armor was turned into a potent weapons system, virtually invalidating conventional warfare overnight.

With the I.S system, the fabric of the world unraveled - overnight, the old balance of power ceased to exist. And with the I.S units being operable only by women, the social fabric of the world changed considerably as well.

Seeking to deal with this new world, the old leadership and the Mad Alice set up the Alaskan Treaty - prohibiting virtually all use of I.S as tools of offensive warfare. The world has stopped.

But this cannot last. The technology of the I.S is being reverse-engineered, and it is only the matter of time before other weapons of Man will reach its level. New powerblocks are frothing at the mouth, ready to test their mettle. The social inequality had never been greater.

And meanwhile, Shinonono Tabane is nowhere to be found, to address the failings of her own plan.

It is the world in which you - Leonhard Toth, the only known male I.S pilot, live.
Seeking to capitalize on your unique skill, you had accepted the offer of Kandignir Foundation, and enrolled in the presitigious, all-female Infinite Stratos Institute. Here your mettle will be tested, tried by fire. Already, you had to fight with you fellow student, Cecilia Alcott, for the position of Class Representative.

During this fight, you had awoken something. Something anicent and incomprehensible. A sign of things to come, of a shadowy war that goes on behind the scenes.

The future is coming back home. And it will shatter the skies for all mankind.

For those just joining us:

RRRRRUUUUUUURRRRRRLLLLEEEEEESSSSSS!

Gamplay:

What is new to my quest is the introduction of "actions per week" - basically, during each week of game (not an actual week, mind - you will get a clear indication when a "new" week starts), our hero has a limited amount of action to spend on certain events:

4 "School Actions" - these are basically us walking around the I.S Academy, and talking with people. Can lead to "random events", used to recruit people, and the like.

2 "Schooling Actions" - this is us basically dedicating out time to studying one specific subject and/or clubs. Standard way of doing character development.

"Strategic Actions" - this is us being suave mofo. Basically, if we have any strategic/political/economic goals or quests, this is when they come up. Buying and selling corporate blueprints, getting favors from politicians, "getting stuff done".

"Underhanded Actions" - the same as above, but, uh, illegal. Or more "Gray Market" ones.

Personal Development - the fastest way of developing a skill. This is stuff like doing private training, often with a tutor, like a teacher, or a friend/student.

By default, Strategic, Underhand and Personal actions are limited to one per week. You will also get random events, which do not use up your action points. For the sake of technicality, all battles count as this (unless it's you doing stuff like launching military campaigns not led by you, which would be strategic actions (llllllaaaaaaattttteeeeee into the quest). "Student Encounters" - that is, actually talking with people and making a decision like "say this" or "take this girl there", count as "Random Events". Occasionally, you'll get plain random events, like being chatted up by some pretty girl, or corrupt Canadian CEO.

Morality:

Since it has proved to be pretty popular, the "morality" system of the previous quest (originally called Glass Peace) will be making a return. Old-timers should know what this means, but for all you new folks:

"Like some other quests, this one will feature a kind of "morality" system - although I should really call it "Ace Style" like in Ace Combat Zero. Basically, some choices you make will result in lasting consequences, and alter the people's perception of you. In the long run, this will affect what kind of choices you will be able to pick, as well as what kind of characters ally with us, or declare themselves as our enemies.

The Path of Philanthropy: You don't actively seek conflict, and you'd probably rather talk your enemies down first. But when the chips are down, you will fight, and you take pride in your skills. You use them to protect and lead others, like the knight orders of old.

Let the World Be: Above everything, mankind has the right to decide for itself. You are the guarantor of this right. You believe that humans have the right to make mistakes, and that no outside force should pre-determine their destiny. Battle neither excites you, nor does it revolt you. In a fight, you prize adaptability and the capacity to survive.

The Outer Haven: Conflict is just another facet of reality. We have spent decades trying to get away from it, and in the end, we always fail. In that case...why not embrace it? War is more then just hatred or death. It is also camaraderie, charisma, progress. The ultimate test of ability. This battlefield is your home, your destiny, and you fight so that others like you can have a place, free from the hypocrisy of today's world.

...By following each of these (or mixing them up), you will be able to unlock various benefits, which is a fancy way of saying "cards that get stuff done". For example, ever wanted the Terrorist squad of Phantom Task at your beck and call? We can make that happen. American fire support as you try to apprehend Tabane? Done."

Relationships

Beyond the obvious fact that we're the only male in the radius of 100km, this Quest will feature a "follower" system, in which we will be able to recruit people. These people will be able to provide concrete benefits, on and off the battlefield. The more a certain person likes us, the better benefits we get, and the character is able to forgive us more, if they happen to be in the different ideological aligment.

The scale will be from simple 0-100. Naturally, with females, romance will be possible.

The Childhood Friend (which the was created via the vote in the old quest) is the exemption, as she's basically not just our "guaranteed" follower, but a very loyal one, and provides superior benefits to most.

You lived in a fairly normal family – normal as the times permit. Your father was a military man, while your mother was "a woman of million talents", always doing something different. You lived well – not poorly, but not extravagantly rich either. Not physically skilled, nor outstandingly gifted in academics, your selling point was your wit, and the ability to apply yourself where no-one else would, and lead others forward. You had been eyed a career as a politician or an activist – or any other combination of "self-made" man that you grew up hearing about. And then, the fate presented you with the most unique skill of all…

****
The youngest daughter of the distinguished Pacifica bloodline, Cynthia was brought up in wealth and comfort, spoiled rotten by the servants of her manor and the middle sister of the family, Rose. Despite living in ignorance about the wider world, many people had to admit that she not only possessed great beauty, but also great intelligence and wit, as befitting the daughter of such a shrewd political family.

All this changed when her and Rose were caught up in a natural disaster while enjoying their luxurious holiday retreat, and Rose died saving Cynthia from drowning. Over time, Cynthia became convinced that her elder sister's death was her fault, which eventually drove her to a mental breakdown, during which she decided to kill herself by hanging herself in a quiet park near her mansion.

The only reason she survived was because a boy in the park spotted her by accident, and because of her own inexperience in tying ropes. That boy was Leonhard Toth.

Leonhard was able to persuade Cynthia to keep living, largely by pointing out that if she truly wanted to atone, she should experience the life in her sister's place, so that "she could tell her about it".

After recovering and seeking professional help, Cynthia tracked down Leonhard, and the two became rather close friends, with Cynthia crediting him with both saving her life, and giving her a purpose. Though initially separated when Cynthia decided to enter the I.S Academy, fate unexpectedly reunites them...

Cynthia's personal I.S is the Guilty Crown, a personal machine created by Kandignir Foundation, an industrial conglomerate owned by the husband of her eldest sister, Linia. It is a strong, balanced combatant, with a wide arsenal of weaponry, edging towards powerful melee weapons.

She has a preference for chokers and necklaces as personal jewelry.

Widely known as "The Black Beast" of the Academy, Beatrix has a reputation as a ruthless, savage pilot, and the quintessential femme fatale outside of the battlefield. While assuredly evil, she's also oddly understanding and pragmatic – if only so that she can advance her own position. An enigma to even those who know her personally, she does what she loves, and love what she does.

The only surviving, direct descendant of the Alcott family, a branch family to the prestigious Walcotts. In order to protect her family's fortunes, she had joined the BARI as an I.S test pilot, helping the organization distance itself from the corporate Bernard and Felix Foundation. However, she had to endure the pressure of always being "the second best" to her cousin, Lilium Walcott, which combined with stress, accident-related trauma, intense dislike of men and government propaganda led her to becoming an entitled, overconfident brat. Now that she had been soundly beaten by Leonhard, Cecilia was forced to reevaluate her position and priorities in life.

Her I.S, the Blue Tears has been designed primarily for sniper combat and long-distance harassment, as well as usage of remote-controlled drones.

Nova

It is difficult to describe her. Not an AI, not a person, or a non-corporeal being – but at the same time, a mixture of all. She claims to be a "Voidborn" a servant of Cold and Gold lords from a time…different than yours. Whatever she truly is however, the fact remains that she resides in your I.S Core, and apparently triggered some sort of change within you. What will this change bring in the end, you do not know.

KIS-M-06 "Sinanju Nova"

Shield Capacity: 400 points
Energy Capacity: V. Large (allows for sustained high-speed while using energy weapons)
Armor: Absolute Defense Barrier System; I.S armor itself has been reinforced with a modified variant of titanium alloys and ceramics.
Weaponry (storage capacity):
- - Beam Rifle
- - Beam Machinegun
- -Beam Axe (x2)
- -Beam Tomahawk (x2)
- - Beam Saber (x2)
- - Rocket Launcher
- - Grenade Launcher
- - Missile pods (x2 – various configurations)
- - 60mm Vulcan gun
- - Latron semi-automatic rifle
- - Dual Vasto revolvers
- - Beam Magnum
Support equipment slots: 14
Support Equipment:
- -Reinforced Shield: An elaborate, but highly durable combat shield. It can physically store a number of armaments (most notably the grenade launcher and beam axes), allowing them to be deployed without the wait for "Rapid Switch" technique. It can be also used to bash targets. Takes up 4 slots.

- -Energy Batteries: Rechargeable batteries linked to the I.S Core. By increasing the available energy capacity, more energy can be put into various tasks by the I.S; most notably forcefield durability (+25 to shields per battery. Each battery takes up 1 slot. Up to 4 batteries can be equipped.)

- -Flare Combat System: Composed of a pair of decoy launchers and an advanced ECM/ECCM suite, the Flare System is meant to disrupt the enemy's long-range capacity. The decoys fired emit an extremely bright flare and high-pitch, enough to overwhelm most I.S Unit's filters, and temporarily disable the pilot. However, the system can carry up to three charges, after which, the user is limited to the ECM suites. Takes up 3 slots.

- -Sturm Boost System: A large backpack for an I.S unit, containing extra thrusters, verniers, fuel cells, an overboost unit for high-speed bypasses and additional armor. The insides of the Boost System also contain two extra robotic arms, which can be outfited with the majority of weapon of your I.S unit. However, it halves your available power reserves, while making your unit significantly faster and more maneuverable. Costs 10 slots.

This was not exactly how I expected us to get a second (proper) thread. But so be it.

Also, just so that people know, this is mostly an I.SxWarframe quest, though we're just starting on this crossover, and we will be having occasional elements from other franchises, like Armored Core, Metal Gear or Fringe.

And now, without further ado:

[X]"You know, about that sparring..."

You trail off, for a moment, gathering your thoughts. "Actually, why not?" You finally say.

"Right now?" She asks you. You shake your head smiling. "Well, not precisely right now. But maybe sometime this week? Or during the weekend. Whichever would be more favorable with you, at any rate."

The line moved forward again, while Irisdina furrowed her brow in concentration. "Very well." She finally says, much to your relief. "Besides, I did say I would still help you. Would it be fine if I contacted you with some dates and times over the Internet?"

"Sure, no problem". You reply. The two of you then spend the next several minutes exchanging some small-talk, as well as making some piloting comparisons – apparently, Irisdina is mostly a ranged fighter/artillery combatant, so you figure that her combat style is not too different from what you already knew – but still different enough to get some worthwhile practice from in.

You eventually separate at the counters, and go on with you day normally until the evening, when your ordered stuff finally arrives, alongside Irisdina's email on your PC. In the end, both of you settle on a short session during the weekend, to gauge each other's ability.

***

Your classes continue to go well. The extra focus on theoretic seems to be helping with your engineering and battle-planning though. As for practical classes however – little changes. You consistently can do pretty much everything, and you honestly feel a little constrained – after all, you've pretty much got most of the current material down to near muscle-memory.

[No progress made]

***

As the week progresses, you decide to finally do some of that "Representative" stuff you've been meaning to.

As you've expected, the position requires you to do most of the work yourself, although, technically, you can create a class committee to handle a variety of topics. You do so almost immediately – you figure that work will go more smoothly if there are several people doing it, and you won't to have a committee once the School Festival – some sort of Japanese schooling fair, you assume – rolls around. It will give you more time to handle the student council too.

That said…you're not entirely sure on how to pick your comitte. Technically, you have the power (according the Academy charter, anyway) to appoint whichever student you'd like. But Orimura-sensei also made it clear to you in private that she won't mind if you want to make it a vote – after all, it's your committee.

[]Let's not risk here. Pick the students which you feel as being the most capable.

[]It's their classroom. The committee should reflect that.

[]Look through the scores of prospective candidates. Pick the best ones, and put them to a vote.
