"Good Earleen, like that!"Ezrin said to Earleen cheerfully without a false smile this time. truly happy his daughter was growing stronger under his instruction. For a moment he forgot his failures in the past and felt like a father.

Earleen and Ezrin had just finished moving and unpacking most of the stuff they could bring from the car to their new home.

finally deciding to settle in the Newfoundland's provincial capital St. Johns because it was the city which held the most opportunities for Earleen to grow and because of a good house Ezrin managed to sneakily buy on the cheap they moved into what would be considered the struggling middle class neighborhood but had all the opportunities near enough for Ezrin to grin happily at the little house they were in now.

Earleen finally was done cultivating her body's natural toughness through compressing the Qi she had gotten from her strange dream. Doing so she immediately felt the effects now. Her skin was much rougher yet smoother at the same time.

This cultivation however felt extremely painful to do.

"Ha, my body feels like it's been beat all over. Is it always going to be like this when I harden my body with cultivated Qi dad?". Earleen asked. Her body was red all over and it felt to her like being punched and beaten while hardening her body with qi all over for hours on end as her father watched. Some part of her wished for a faint sense of hope that dad held the answers.

He did not. "ha, that's the proper and painful way to truly do that. you want to get stronger right dear? You'll just have to suffer then until you can beat the snot out of me and tell me otherwise. Ezrin grinned at his daughter Earleen. Smiling in a provoking agitating way to get her riled up.
She knew better however and it did not work. instead opting to lie down and relax after enduring that hell.

"It's always going to be painful like that dear.", Ezrin said to Earleen with a small smile. "cultivating often means changing the body or soul to be better and to do so requires to forcefully change the body through the energy of qi from the world. In this case your hardening your skin by compressing the excess energy you collect through your soul nets all throughout your body into your flesh and bone. Thus, naturally hardening your body's toughness and how much it can endure", Ezrin said giving Earleen a sympathetic look.

"Yeah I get that but when can I get to the good stuff like flying or summon fire?", Earleen asked, with a tired yet enthusiastic look at her father expecting an answer to satisfy her question.

Ezrin face however frowned which caused Earleen to feel like a sledgehammer called reality was going to hit her now.

"You mostly be cultivating and improving your body in the mortal stage, nothing special like power anytime soon and If I had to estimate you will cultivate past mortal stage in six to 12 months from now before breaking through to the mortal practitioner stage."

Earleen felt that hammer of reality hard, it drained her energy to stare up at father with a smile and instead a dead fish look.

She'd have to endure this suffering for that long? Dam she hated her shit talent.

"Now dear you are already ahead of others your age. If it makes you feel better after reaching the mortal practitioner stage you'll be cultivating one of your thirty-six[36] channels throughout your body one at a time to allow for the use of the energy of the world."

Earleen eyes glittered for a moment at her father as he said that, until she noticed the part of doing more work to unlock powers and that wasn't including the time to learn the techniques for such powers and where she would get them, she truly felt like dying as each sledge hammer hit her harder then the next one.

Ezrin went on to talk about how cultivation worked and how painful it was until it was clear Earleen wasn't listening.

With that he began to move to more serious topics.

"Earleen about your dream… I'm not what to do about it as it simply sounds too fantastical. Awakening in one night? Even those highly talented folks with treasures and backing would at least need a week or a month to do so. Also, your talents being reduced to three, that seed thing, and a bamboo canteen filled with alcohol and the good stuff? I simply can't make heads or tails on it whether it's a fortune or a calamity for you so I'm not going to think too much on it but simply say to you to be careful when approaching this 'seed' thing. Growth is important but obsessing over can lead one down path less trotted for obvious reasons I won't state because I respect your intelligence.". Ezrin gave Earleen a hard look which even made Earleen flinch a bit, she however noticed his gaze was not at her but her chest, no. her soul with his piercing eyes.

he however after a long cold glanced directly at her to continue his talk with her.

"Now about that red eye, I'm still not going to tell you anything about it but to simply ignore it. Do not under any circumstances UNLESS necessary in life or death listen to it's words or use anything it may give you. it will only corrupt you and lead you to become its… tool."

Ezrin still stared Earleen in the eye with his cold analytical stare, yet Earleen noticed the slow wavering strength in his eyes for a moment before forcefully hardening himself to continue talking with his daughter.
Earleen didn't mention it however.

"Finally, on cultivation, you told me of that red mark last night. I looked into it while you were cultivating and realized it was sucking in energy and growing in strength as you did. it acts as a soul net but for its own gain. I however luckily suppressed it from doing so but I don't want you cultivating unless you are under my supervision so I can suppress the red mark thing on you. nothing good can come from strengthening a link between you and that monster."

Ezrin paused, continuing to stare Earleen down to make sure she got the point down from word to word before continuing.

"also income, you're a big girl now. fourteen for crying out loud and recently awakened. you'll need to learn how to handle money but i won't give you infinite cash to spend on a whim even if i have a lot of cash on hand. if you need something expensive discuss it with me and your reasons why and I'll consider it. with that settled your allowance every month is going to be 20.00 Canadian. spirit stones for cultivation will be provided by me when cultivating under my watch. Do you understand dear? That is your allowance and starting now with 20.00 Dollars, here."

Earleen gave her dad the look of wide eyes as she stared at him as she nodded.

'My own cash? finally i won't have to rely on getting cash from dad to buy every little thing!', Earleens thoughts were running wild with imaginations on what she could do with 20.00$ of cash a month, penny pincher inside her screaming with happiness.

she of course did not show it on her face, although Ezrins small grin told her otherwise.

Ezrin continued his serious talk with her but this time amusement filled look on his face and words as he continued.

"I however am not opposed to you getting a part-time job or doing some odd jobs here or their just please tell me about it first alright dear."

Earleen gave a fierce nod before responding back with a grin on her face staring back at her father, "Of course dad, I won't disappoint you!".

Ezrin nodded back, satisfied with Earleen's honest answer

"That will be your allowance for this month and for the next. you'll get your next allowance starting the new school year. Anyhow now on the topic of the school you'll be going to."

Earleens once grinning face paled, turning to a look of agitation, fear, and annoyance after hearing her father's words.

Ezrin pretended not to notice despite the obvious weakening in his face before he continued his talk with his daughter.

"Dear, I know I allowed you to not go to school last year in Mississauga but you are now cultivating towards the path of strength! You can't hide forever and you're going to have to be able to handle others in the future or risk being abused by others. if your worried about those cultists ruining those close to you i'll-"

"No"

Earleen cut off her father before he could finish his sentence.
She knew her father's words were right. she couldn't hide forever, certainly not behind Ezrin forever. She made that chant last week in her dream and spoke of it so fervently the desire to find out the truth. she would one day have to spread her wings wide and get down to discovering the secrets of her past. with or without her father's help if it comes to it.

There was also one thought in her mind however, which convinced her to decline to show weakness to her father. 'GROWTH'.

with this distant voice in the back of her mind she didn't care about what those cultists would throw at her. she had something others didn't and she would use it to fuck those cultist if they tried to mess with her.
'This time I won't fail those around me, I'll grow strong and protect those around me. as well as decide my own fate through my ability', Earleen thought before looking Ezrin in the eye with determination and fire in her's.
"Dad, I understand the need for me to get out of my shell, that I truly do."
the voice in the back of her head whispered, 'power, potential.'.
she would take it.

"I will GROW stronger, and learn to adapt. just please… don't bring up such unpleasant memories.

Ezrin stared her daughter down for a moment, before sighing and accepting her request silently and turned the talk to another topic he was going to discuss with Earleen.

"Anyhow you have 6 weeks before school starts and I have already enrolled you into Clementine state funded school. Although it is not a 'true' state sponsored school in the sense that your thinking of going to it does have some people who are beginning on the path of cultivation or just starting out. Plus, you'll get many opportunities at the school, I'm sure of it!"

Ezrin said with a strained smile and forced cheerfulness.

Earleen knew what he was talking about. Schools not truly funded by the province, government, or without a powerful backer wouldn't be able to provide her the resources for growth in her cultivation, at least not as much as 'true' state funded schools could give her. The school was probably more like schools for the masses which were intent on teaching them skills society needed to function rather than grow them to become strong or politically savvy. Not everyone could pursue the path of strength or a comfy life as it was expensive and it would cause chaos like in the old days.

Earleen silently accepted this however, she had to prove to her father that she could be trusted with strength, that she was stable. No sense in making an unstable go to a school where she would be beyond her fathers' supervision most of the time and cause trouble.

With that she silently gritted her teeth, knowing the logical reason why her father wouldn't let her go to the 'provincial' or 'federal' sponsored schools still caused her heart ache. The power she could gain if she went to those schools, the chant she made as well as the reason for gaining strength… it was hard to stay calm with that opportunity right in front of her being reserved for next year or the years to come.

Ezrin continued with his talk, a conflicted look on his face before sighing in relief that his daughter as fine with his decision

"Anyhow for this week no cultivation, I have to deal with much work here as I'm setting up the old business here and doing some work here and there to make sure the documents for us living here and my business are all filled out and correct."

Ezrin said looking at Earleen with a careful smile with caution. He knew of the chant Earleen had said in her dream at the inn a couple days before arriving at their new home. Her desire for strength and the truth which she said with desire and passion. Earleen knew it pained him in some way that he was limiting his daughter's growth, her desire. But she wasn't a kid to throw tantrums and silently gritted her teeth.

Earleen silently nodded, some part of her wanting to cultivate NOW despite her father's warnings, the silent voice in her head telling its desire for 'growth'. It made Earleens face twist a bit despite Earleen's best effort to put up a neutral face.

Ezrin stared quietly for an uncomfortable time at her before continuing.
"Now I know you don't really have many hobbies after we started moving from place to place besides martial training with me or growing stronger but I can't help you there sadly as I have a lot of work now. Why don't you go outside and explore the local places? I'm sure there's something interesting to catch your eye. Theirs the nearby café to spend your cash on something sweet, there's the local library at the community center, and much more! "

Ezrin said back to Earleen with what could only described as a pitifully forced smile which stretched from cheek to cheek as though he was begging for her to accept his proposal, at least for the week.
Even handing her cash to spend on sweets or a drink at the cafe.

Earleen silently nodded like a child listening to their parent's ramblings and just accepting it as it is. Grabbing her stuff before heading outside of her new home in newfoundland. her first destination, the library.
____________________________________________________________

Earleen stood outside the large community center, it looked modern with glass all over the community center as to allow light in and to make it look good and sleek to match with the ever-changing modern era.

Earleen had to give the architect some credit. It did look good and immediately caught her eye when she saw it from a distance.

There was also a large fresh patch of cleared land behind and beside the community center. Some of it being used as a field for sport and some of it being run down. With weeds or other little things which took away from it's perfectly clean look.

what made the building stand out however were the small inscription symbols which seemed to make the building exude light.

'probably some formation magic', Earleen thought.

After taking a moment of looking around some more she went inside
Inside was what to be expected of the place. An indoor swimming pool you have to pay a small fee to swim in, the public library her dad told her about, and finally a gym which used for the physical clubs with the current occupants being what looked to be a martial arts class.
'hmm, I wonder if I could sign up for that place, it wouldn't hurt to learn from someone else besides my dad', Earleen silently thought before looking toward the public library and finally entering.

The library looked to be an average library as well, or so Earleen though before she spotted in her eyes some strange little things in the scenery.

First were the library helpers and employees. They weren't regular normal people but they all wore a sort of uniform which depending on color seemed to denote one's rank or power in the library.

The grey uniformed robed workers were working with visitors or fixing little things here and there in the library. Their eyes glowed for some moments when they did something strange like using a telekinesis like ability to lift books into their proper places. Managing the simple work. what made their telekinesis ability half-assed however was the occasional fumble with the usage of telekinesis which caused books to stumble onto the wrong shelf or cause damage, once even hitting a visitor to which the man got promptly sent away to a room nearby and wasn't seen again by Earleen.

The next were the white robed figures who seemed to work exclusively with more complex tasks like helping visitors to the library or working on documenting something while reading. They seemed higher up on the scale of employee power than the gray but then came the purple robed figures who were few in number and seemed to be the supervisor or managers. They seemed to be dealing with what seemed to be a blond girl with a group of other girls who were causing trouble yet seemed careful not to anger her, as if she could make them disappear in an instant.

Finally came the other strange folk in the library reading strange books. A man who looked to be a Buddhist monk, reading a book which seemed to exude flames, a boy with such clear skin yet looked to be a foreigner as his skin was stone like yet smooth and was handsome, only driving of the girls who were eyeing him with a fierce glare which drove them looking the other way with shame as others snickered at their obvious ogling of the man himself in public. The blond girl with what seemed to be her lackeys in strange clothing arguing with library staff and the employee must have struck a cord with her as she immediately put a hand over his shoulder and as her eyes turned bright golden yellow, he turned pale white and she left just like that with her lackeys.

There were certainly more strange little things but they were minor compared to these strange scenes in front of Earleen.

'cultivators or practitioners they all must be', Earleen thought to herself. It would explain their strange mannerisms and powers as well as their strange clothing and weird looks. Even Ezrin wasn't excepted from this as Earleen noticed his odd little habits like dressing up in black or dark grey trench coats and looking like a rough detective from a movie.

Earleen however decided to blank everything out in her mind, she came here for a reason and that was to glance at the books that were available before leaving and checking the other places out.

And so she went on, checking from place to place for any books that might interest her.

She found four books which did but wondered which to take out.
One was a book called 'The Runes, By Horik Svensson' which focused on how runes were perceived in the old times, dating their origins from India all the way to Europe. It seemed to focus on the meaning of the runes and other spiritual knowledge the different peoples that used the runes view, usage, and belief in it. It honestly looked like any old history book on some old things that happened long ago which usually wouldn't catch her eye but it did, some of the runes drawing catching her eye, an attraction she knew not why but heard a distant voice in her mind, 'GROWTH'. She accepted the strange thought as a guide that this book might help her out somehow but wasn't sure on whether to take it out so left it back in the book shelf. perhaps if she dedicated more time to understanding the books spiritual jargon she would know why it seemed strange to her.

Another book Earleen found was called 'The dawn of a new age and the chaos that followed'. A history book which was a part of a series which explained events following the mass release of energy from the Earth allowing humans to grow stronger and the extra dimensional beings to notice earth as well as other mythical beings return to Earth like the Gods. An interesting book which might fix her perspective on things her father kept her in the dark from. She thought silently before returning the book back to it's shelf.

The third book Earleen found that interested her was a book called 'The wonders of incense'. A book with a scent of flowers and incense was all over the book. Earleen glanced at the book and it seemed to talk about all sorts of incense and how to make them as well their effects. 'perhaps another time', Earleen thought before leaving the book on the shelf she found it in.

The final book Earleen Encountered was a small manual on some simple martial arts techniques and how to perform better in combat and get stronger. It seemed outdated to be honest and she could probably finish it in a week but returning to the basics to pick up on ones flaws they've picked up surely wouldn't hurt, right? With that she put the final book back onto its shelf and turned to one of the white robed employees'. asking for a form to get a library card to sign out two of the books which interested her the next time she went to the library and went of to her next destination for exploring the local places nearby. The cafes and shops, then a walk before heading home.

The cafes were fine, nothing unexpected but she did get a few sweets she liked with her dad's bribery to get her out of the house instead of using her own allowance.

The cafe's however seemed filled with those her age and slightly older, some sipping down on a cappuccino while others snacking sweets down. Some were just there to talk with others.

'A good place to mingle with others naturally, wonder if i can meet someone here to smooth my transition to the area or school', Earleen thought before heading back outside. She wasn't much of a social person and wasn't the type to approach others but knew the value of how having someone you know could smooth her transition to school on the first day.
Earleen decided however not to mingle with the other people at the cafe as she just felt like quietly exploring the new places.

after ordering a sweet for herself the cafés didn't hold much interest with her so she left, heading to the shops.

The local shops didn't hold much interest with her besides the thrift shops which all held small interesting little things and the shops she wasn't allowed into because she had 'no spirit stones' or whatever they said.

Earleens last stop was the big store called Value Village. Holding all sorts of unique little things which caught her eye. She noticed some people however scanning every little strange thing with glowing eyes before moving onto the next object. They looked a bit scary and rough so she avoided them and left the store soon after noticing nothing interested her.

Earleen was heading home the long way, she wondered on her new home in newfoundland. It was a small house but is enough to house a family of two. It didn't feel much like her original home with all the flowers but it would do.

She thought of all the other places she had been, maybe they would move out again once trouble started following them again. Maybe-
'No', she thought this would be her new home and she would make the best of it she can.

'If I can't handle trouble now how can I hope to handle it in the future?' She thought.

Earleen thought of ways to make this new place her new home. 'Maybe plant flowers with dad around the house, I'm sure he'll like doing something relaxing for once. All that stress must be piling up on him ever since we kept moving around because of the red eyed cults chase on us. Hell, he might be down for some good martial training with me"

Earleen thought it might do her father to relax a little and garden with her or do some training with her. Anything to distract Ezrin from the endless documents she saw him with before she left the house.

She pondered on her walk on how to make this new place her home.
It would be her ground for gaining strength, all hers and all who dared cross it would be destroyed, she thought wishing she could do so.

Although silently before finally reaching home and entering back to see Ezrin, she thought about her desire for the moment. What she wished for.
'Strength… to make this place my new home and discover who's been making my life hell, those who get in my way will…'

She silently entered the house, unsure of what she would do but she felt angry just thinking about it so she let is fester in her before heading into the house and sleeping after a long day of walking around and seeing what was locally available to her.

And with that she had dinner, the day was long after wandering around and she was hungry.

After that she had a long relaxing bath before heading to bed and saying good night to Ezrin who seemed to be occupied with tired eyes as he mulled over the documents with his robotically fast movement and electronic left arm working in tandem with his right.

With that she headed to her room, a blank white room with not much but the training weapons she used to train with her dad and the small bed in the corner of the room to the left. She would need to fix it later, she thought to herself.

Earleen slowly climbed into bed sleepily, tired after the long day
she mulled over what she would do next week, before falling asleep.

Now choose 3 actions to do for next week, notice however you have 6 weeks before school starts in which it will take away actions for the following weeks. Choose wisely. Authors Note: alright i'll update character sheet and all the other fancy stuff later. it's like night time here and I want to go to bed. this also counts for fixing things as I'll do it when I have time. well here starts I guess the true beginning of my quest, lets see if it crashes and burn folks.

Excerpt from The Wonders of Incense, Novice Grade book, No deciphering of knowledge required

Incense, what is it?

Something to burn for some strong smell? A strange material to burn for smoke?

No, it's something greater than that, a craft of art which neither show's its true value in how it looks through the eyes which we have used so often that we blind ourselves to other mediums and expressions of art.

Then what is it? those arrogant fools who look down on our craft, our art who could never understand its true value.

The art and craft of incense way of expression to the masses is nothing so complicated as literature or paintings jam packed with some vague sense of 'meaning', but through the smell.

The smoke which one inhale and exhales.

It is through tis smoke which is produced from the burnings of our wonderful craft which allow the masses to experience the true pinnacle of expression, allowing forth those blind or ignorant to be absorbed into the experience the smell, our craft and what the crafter wished to express through the incense he or she made.

This is the one craft which does not exclude anyone for anyone can experience the smell and feel which each incense creator through their own pain staking effort to be able to make such a unique aromatic expression for anyone to experience.

The masses all can enter and see through us incense makers through our works and feel a wide array of emotions and feelings depending on the crafter's intent.

Such a wonderful art, is it not? Yet why is it that our art has decayed with each passing decade? That each mew era seems to come and pass with new grand 'creations' and so called 'arts' that we have fallen out of the grace of both the artistic world of the masses as well as from society in general. Why is that?

It is because of the constant consumerism saturated and encouraged on mass I say. For so focused on having the newest luxury that the masses can't truly understand and feel the expression that comes from burning our incense.

So focused on consuming that the masses can't experience our works expressional value, merely taking it for just something that smells nice and not seeing past it, the emotions which each fragrance emits, our inner worlds and life experiences expressed through each huff of incense yet they have forgotten us and the magic our art could bring

I had such high hopes in the reconstruction Era announced by the World Peace Governing Counsel.

Once more I thought we could express our craft to the masses and help them not only experience a myriad of emotions expressed by the most talented and devoted to our craft but also show the world the true extent we could take our craft as we helped awaken and grow the futures most talented shining stars who would enforce world order across the world and bring a final end to conflict as well as bring peace to these seemingly endless chaotic times.

Yet once more I was wrong as we were discarded by the governing powers that be when their seemed to be a slow down of growth expected from our art as we tried our best to excel in it.

They abandoned us I say, taking in the robotic lifeless pills and elixir makers and calling us inadequate! The Gaul they have after the resources we pulled to aid them and they cast us aside. Our best crafts were made and forgotten and left to dust as the more dead and lifeless pills and elixir makers bedazzled the masses with their tasteless fast-growing power up compared to what they called and I quote 'a resource expensive inferior art'.

How many have awakened under the use of our Incense? How many owe it to us incense makers to be able to feel the truest expression of our art and breakthrough under the mesmerizing emotions which our craft brought out from within them?

Dam many I say yet we are lost to time and now scattered into fragments, no longer recognized as an art by the world at large but a mere tool to discard when the next best thing comes about.

First them dam pills and elixir makers then those dam interdimensional powers and their people come with something better and everyone's on their knee begging for their 'superior'.

It saddens me to see our art decay into obscurity day by day, year by year, decade by decade.

It seems our art will be lost to time and considering I have none to pass my craft onto it seems my family lines work will be gone to dust a well.

Perhaps time has caught onto me and the lone and wear on me has reached my mind but I have in the final chapters of this book many secrets ad insider knowledge on the craft of incense.

This has led me to be ostracized by my fellow collogues, them all saying I have betrayed them all at the last meeting of incense crafters. 'The Wilds of Aromatics'.

Fools them all I say! While they grow old and indulgent in their own pride of their craft our art is slowly dying!

I say this to anyone who is about to read the next few chapters on some of the secrets of incense making and how to begin, I have not given you my craft for the path of incense making is to ultimately make an aromatic you can call your own master piece.

If one wishes to dive deeper then you may seek more knowledge elsewhere. Now though we start with the foundations for a good incense crafter

Here lies a guide and some secrets onto starting incense crafting and the wonders it can bring if you simply put some work into it…

The book goes on to continue using flowery speeches as it describes the beginnings of articulating different smells and their meanings which each smell was embedded into the book seemingly by hand.

Author: an unknown master of incense craft

Although Earleen knew the book was heavily biased she couldn't shake of the feeling she learned something profound yet bullshit at the same time

Earleen had learned the basics of incense craft and how to get started.

One simply had to make or get an incense stick and let it sit in some fragrance oil and then burn it and enjoy the smoke that followed with the scent of the fragranced oils.

It seemed so easy to do and if the book was to be believed came with some benefits like peace of mind and more.

Earleen while a little hesitant at first to learn about incense due to it seemingly being useless in her mind thought back to her father's words on her having no hobby and not being 'feminine' enough.

It didn't affect her at all, not one bit.

Thus, she took forth the book not expecting much earlier before her read but after came out of it seemingly enamoured by the flowery words it contained.

It wasn't as hard to read as the rune book and needed no deciphering of text.

The only real downside Earleen could think on the book was it's biased nature and use of flowery words but besides that it conveyed information as close to crystal clear as possible.

a true beginner book to get started working with incense, she thought.

Reading the book reminded her of the times she studied and died research back when she was a regular school student in Edmonton.

The cold chilly winters in the library studying, waiting for her father to pick her up…such warm days which had long since passed.

now she was once again in the library, feeling nostalgic like it had been so long since she had done so.

Earleen reviewed some of the book before she believed she got the gist of it in her head and went home to rest. especially after having to ignore all the weird stuff happening in the library like the weird fire monk sitting in the exact same position reading the same book she saw him reading last week or the stone skinned boy still giving out death glares to anyone looking at him.

she didn't miss the way the blond girl looked around the library and piercing gaze passed onto her for a long agonizing minute before smiling and heading out.

it was certainly strange but she ignored it.

As she went home, she was hoping to convince Ezrin to help her plant flowers around the house later this week.

Maybe later in the year they could use the flowers in full bloom to make incense from its fragrant oils!

Earleen was home, she was however not done studying.

Once she got home, she opened up the book 'The Runes' and started reading it, wishing to see what runes she could use to decorate the house and garden for good luck and fortune.

Newly added skills I thought good to add to make researching easier for me.

Research: The skill which determines how well thoroughly a character researches a topic and to what extent.

Spiritual Jargon Understanding: The skill to determine how skilled you are in say deciphering text or sources of knowledge through 'spiritual terms. Read in-between the lines and see what the text is actually saying and teaching.

Earleen felt as though her understanding of runes was on the verge of understanding something fundamental about runes but it a always slept her mind before doing so.

Eventually she put the book away after getting irritated at her lack of understanding of runes.

'Perhaps I will have to polish my skills at studying once again.', Earleen silently thought before heading out of her room and heading to Ezrin.

She did not however come out without making no progress in her studies on the book.

She understood that runes were symbols which the people of old believed to hold some general meaning or idea behind it like say the rune 'othel' meaning home and believe it had magical powers associated with its meaning which could be used for the benefit of one self or destruction of others.

Earleen learned no further then that however. Something stumped her before she could finish what she could call completing her studies on the bare basics of the subject.

'maybe i should of asked the library workers' Earleen thought but threw it away before it caused her to regret it.

she would however not let her studies into runes go to waste however, she would use the runes she learned and like to decorate the house and surround the flowers with stones carved with runes.

Earleen wanted to continue her studies but that would have to be saved for later, now she had to convince Ezrin to go with her to relax and plant flowers around this seemingly dead house.

"So… you want my help to plant the new flowers around the house dear?", Ezrin said to her daughter, looking at her with tired glowing eyes as he slowly dropped his pen to face Earleen.

"Yes, whenever we moved to a new place, we always gave life to the dead boring place you chose by planting flowers and other things around the house. it's like tradition Ezrin", Earleen said with determination in her eyes. she wanted Ezrin to relax for a little while and spend some time with her. something he seemed to be putting of more and more as the work piled up on him and his strange eyes looking at her distantly as if she was going away.

She would not have that! This time she was determined to get Ezrin out of the house and go with her to plant flowers around the house, at least for a little while before she knew he would have to go back to working again.

Ezrin gave Earleen a complicated look, before glancing at his documents and looking back at her. "Earleen dear-"

"But daddddddd", Earleen said in a long confident voice to get her dad's attention on her.

"Wasn't it you who said I needed more hobbies? That I wasn't your little girly daughter anymore? don't you want to see to the end your daughter develop the few hobbies she has to the end?" Earleen said with a provocative grin on her face.

Ezrin gave her a strange look at her response before opening his mouth to refute her.

"Dear i said the first part of what you said but not what followed, I didn't mean-"

"True you said the first part but it doesn't take much to notice your slight hinting at the conversation i wasn't like most girls." Earleen gave Ezrin a cross armed look with unimpressed eyes.

She knew Ezrin was comparing her with other girls her age and knew that he was blaming himself for her not having a normal girly childhood with friends and hobbies to pass the time.

Blaming himself for her taking on martial training and cultivating to protect herself and grow stronger which he considered his duty to do as a father yet couldn't follow through on his perceived responsibility as her father.

It caused her to grit her teeth knowing all this was behind he usually smiling dad but she wouldn't confront him on it, not today at least.

if he felt guilty about all those things Earleen would at least use it to get him to get out of the house, or so was her plan.

"If you want to see your daughter grow normal and girly like all the others then at least spend some time with me to see I develop well to the very end!" Earleen said with a face of determination stating she wouldn't budge from her position to get her dad out of the house.

Ezrin gave her a long-suffering look before looking back at the papers in his hand and then back at her before giving a sigh of defeat.

Smiling weakly back at Earleen before responding back "Alright you win, I'll help you get this house with some color and life."

"That's the spirit! now let's get going before the sun sets" Earleen said smiling back at Ezrin.

Ezrin and Earleen exited out the house, they were planting a select few seeds Earleen chose around the house.

although Earleen has many different packs of seeds she decided to plant only the ones she had which could be used to make essential oils to be harvested later and maybe used later for making natural incense sticks like the book said or just use it naturally on her self

how she would use it would come later though, now she was carving up on the small rocks and pebbles she collected around the house and to and from her travel to the library and back with runes she liked from, the book she read earlier.

she chose… (vote for 4 runes she carved onto the stones in the garden and to decorate her room. you will gain the chance to carve more runes for the house later on. This may have… supernatural effects later on in-game)

[] ing meaning fertility

[] eolh meaning protection

[] Jara meaning harvest

[] wynn meaning joy

[] feoh meaning cattle or hard work leading to success and wealth

Earleen thus began to carve out said runes onto the wood chunks and stone she managed to gather and plot them around the area's flowers were to be growing.

Earleen and Ezrin enjoyed their time out together for the rest of the day.

The day was over and Ezrin and Earleen were already back in the house

Earleen and Ezrin managed to finish carving out the runic stones and wood to be arranged well amongst the newly planted flower seeds which would look good in full bloom later this year.

Ezrin went back to work on his documents and forms and Earleen was up in her room decorating it with the few runes she saved to decorate her room.

She then proceeded to have a couple vases with dirt in them be moved into her room and plant some flowers in them to liven her room a bit to which she surrounded with runes as decor.

Her room now was no longer lifeless except for perhaps the bland white it was all good.

The room was now longer just empty but filled with some furniture she managed to move into her room from the car as well as some plant vases which were filled with seeds planted with what Earleen hoped to become beautiful flowers she might be able to harvest for essential oils.

Everything in her room was also in some way decorated with the chosen runes she decided to carve out n the garden with Ezrin. overall the day was well spent and to Earleens liking despite her still being stumped on what she missed about the runes she studied from the book.

'another time perhaps' she thought before heading to bed.

she reflected on the week, she felt she had spent her time productively yet was reminded by the lingering thought she was still alone.

she didn't like it but that would change, she hoped.

with that came an end to a long week

Alright, voting time for actions next week, 5 weeks before school starts September 3rd

Authors Note: Alright, removed the shopping option because I feel like it's not needed, at least not now, maybe later into the year but not now. Also decided to make it so that only 1 book can be studied at a time, this is because I find I can write a lot about a subject but it gives less detail to another like the runes book which didn't get much detail on it. Also I'll put anything crafting related in crafting options like runes or incense craft.

Choose 3 options to do for next week, some may be wondering why there are so few options. Why? because i couldn't come up with any more that were natural given the position we are in story, starting as a loner going to a new school in the summer may not have been the best idea but… eh it is what it is. there will be more social options when we meet new people i guess.

[] Go outside to the cafe and maybe mingle with some people your age, maybe meet a friend to hang out with and ease your move into the school a bit

[] Dad seems to be suffering under all that paperwork, maybe helping him out and polish up his work.
- [] Study up on 1 book only at the library.
- [] The Runes by Horik Stevenson, 9/10 simple understanding of what runes are
- [] The Dawn of a New Age and the Chaos That Followed
- [] Martial arts manual
- [] Essential Oils for Mindfulness and Meditation book

[] Cultivate under dad's watch, he should now have some free time. [Choose 1 to cultivate to improve yourself]
- [] Qi Strengthening
- [] Qi Fortification
- [] Qi Speed
- [] Qi Sense
[] practice martial training with dad.

[] You notice how the library workers are all well versed into the books and the knowledge they contain, maybe ask one of them for help? Surely the rumours of them all being power hungry inhuman monsters can't be true… right?

Research and Knowledge Mechanic Explained:
Alright i probably didn't explain this well so I'm going to try to do so now. Research works in that it is knowledge you gain through various means. in the case for Runic Understanding it is the very basics you can learn from the book 'The Runes' after researching it. knowledge learned can be used to unlock future options and actions which will be shown later if you gain full knowledge on something like runes like perhaps using them for magical effects or rituals as actions. Some knowledge useful for the future some not, you guys choose what to research and what is important. currently the runes book has 3 layers of research to crack through on the understanding of runes and how to use them if you wish to pursue the craft of runes. Just keep in mind that while you cultivation talent of a mere 3 may be shit, it doesn't mean your talent at crafts and art won't be as well. Also the benefits books give will vary as you can see for the wonders of incense book was quickly finished and allowed forth for the craft of incense and essential oils which will be updated tomorrow on the crafting menu.

Welp good night folks. I'll update everything tommorow hopefully.

Ok, sorry for being gone for a bit. My family was just recently informed that my dad's friend who allowed us to stay at their house when we first moved to Canada caught the corona virus and is currently in the hospital. Depending on whether he recovers or not may lead to me putting this quest off for a while and at worst a canceling of the quest. Nothing grim so far as of yet but had to put of finishing this chapter till now. Also, I haven't had a chance to update the mechanics page but I'll do that after this chapter. I decided to focus more on writing the story then mechanics for this chapter so no rolls as I sort of didn't work on the quest till last Friday so I need a refresher on mechanics and update the mechanics page after this chapter. I should be able to post more chapters however if nothing else comes up in my life so here we go.

All right after looking at other quest and how they started it seems that they all in general have a summary or story which sets the tone and setting of the story. So here's a short summary
Summary
The world of Earth follows the general timeline until the 1980s where the Earth has a sudden release of energy into the atmosphere and the world which allowed human to cultivate but awakened beings of old and legend who went to slumber long since the time of creation. This sudden change as one can obviously tell caused literal chaos as suddenly an individual can obtain such power is not so good. This began the age of chaos which came to an end in the 1990s when the world peace governing agency formed by the United Nations came and enforced literal peace everywhere on Earth. This peace however was temporary as soon the powers that be began to plot their rise to power as the dominant force on Earth.

Oh yeah did I forget the interdimensional beings? Yeah, they noticed Earths mass awakening which range from the great dragon empire is ruled by Dragons and their descendants and multiple groups of powers with different species that exist under their rule. They noticed Earth and their interest in Earth varies from group to group, power to power. They however publicly introduced themselves after the age of peace and began to try and exploit and gain power they can from Earth. Now the year is 2015 and in these tense times of peace lay beneath it schemes for power and horrors committed beyond the public eye.

Who are you? just some girl who escaped deaths grasp when you should have died, the rest? It's up to you to decide her character path.

Also decided to merge gardening skills into one, these will be the main ones now, harvest, planting, Gardening.

Their are more changes coming but I forgot about them as I had to drop the quest for a while and forgot the changes I was going to make.

3 Points left of Research

Alright here is how runes are going to work, you guys only know how to use the most basic of runes hich is invoking it's meaning and surrounding yourself with it's energies. Since you guys decided on making the following runes

[X] othel meaning home
[X] eolh meaning protection
[X] wynn meaning joy
[X] feoh meaning cattle or hard work leading to success and wealth
you will gain positive bonuses to actions which said meaning of the rune could relate and help you in said action. The bonus is greater at home but it does leave lingering small bonuses as Earleen leaves home which has many runes she decided to carve. I will decide the bonuses but in general I think giving an extra 3 dice bonus per rune Earleen has crafted till now to any actions which the rune can help her at home and dice point total added to actions outside of home location reflecting to the runes concept like protect from attack or a patience check from the rune joy. Runes in their most basic form are meant to invoke something through the runes meanings and how they are used. This I the most basic form of it and if you guys choose to pursue it their will be more goods to discover in it.

Excerpt From the Book 'The Runes'

Runes, what are they?

To be concise they are symbols which people of the past believed to have certain meaning now given concept by the people who believed in it and shaped forth by the laws of the universe.

While most runes which the people of old had used have been translated today to find the name of the rune, the meaning of these runes which the people of old had for them were wide and varied which would not exactly be indicated by the aid definition of the rune.

But first who are the people of old you may be asking? Well they are for a general concise view people who first made the runes which seem to originate from the Germanic Tribes of ancient Europe and was in general wide use as it spread across different groups of people who are more popularly known for the use of runes the Vikings and Druids.

There were of course other groups of people who used the runes in their culture or life but to not stray to far from the subject we will be focusing on the major groups who used the runes throughout history, not the minor ones.

If your wish is to see these minor groups of peoples use of runes, I suggest you look to other books by me or others.

Anyhow back to what Runes are. Runes are as previously stated symbols with meanings which the people of old starting in the Germanic peoples used to inscribe onto stone or wood materials to invoke what the rune concept or meaning to life like the rune 'joy' for example around their house to hopefully have the rune influence them to have joyful lives.

There were of course many other uses of runes which range from rituals to talisman or little trinkets which were used by the people of old but much of such knowledge is lost as with the spread of Christianity came the destruction of the runic culture the people of Europe had used for centuries. Them deeming it a pagan teaching of a devil when not truly understanding what they were looking at.

There are of course some surviving accounts of the use of runes left over from the past which have luckily been saved for scholars of today to learn how it was sometimes used by the people of old.

The legitimacy of how effective such use of runes varies as this was still before the era before chaos and the Earths release of energy so it is to be expected such method even if it actually worked theoretically it shouldn't because the Earths energy levels was so low at the time before the 1980s.

Anyhow before we get into how to use runes there is one thing which I need to clarify. The difference between runes and formations.

You think there both the same thing? Wrong.

Runes differ from formations in that they are given meaning by the people who believe in it and thus are given the ability to invoke magical effects or powers relating to what the people have believed the symbols to embody like 'protect' into such runes while Formations craft focuses on invoking the true laws of the universe from creating symbols which they claim their masters have perceived after peering through beyond the universe and into the void.

Whether this is true or not is to be debated but to put it simply the difference between runes and formations are that runes have core meanings like formations but hold extra interpretation on how to perceive such a rune unlike formations in which there is a clear concise meaning to it and there are no variations it's meaning which cannot be streched.

This may seem minor at first but come to consider the rune Lagu meaning water. Water in formation craft is considered an elemental formation word and has no other meaning besides the concept of 'water'. Lagu on the other hand is a rune meaning water but embodies a free open mind and willingness to trust on one's instinct or intuition rather then always applying to logics way of thinking. Essentially to be flexible and willing to flow with the waves or fight against it and create your own wave when necessary and to touch on one's hidden side to listen to one self.

Formations are clear cut like a knife and to do something complex requires the use of many formation symbols with different meanings.

To put simply runes are the use of the meanings and extra interpretations it may have by people of the past and today to make use of it while formations are the creation of what one desires with the right exact formation symbols.

Runes also can be reversed to hold the exact opposite meanings it once had before compared with formation craft.

To make a better analogy is formations are programing to make the desired product while runes are simply a program with tools already made which we rune crafters use to make our desired product. A runes concept or meaning stretched to get the intended result

This causes the use of many runes to be undesirable and hard to do simply due to many conflicting idea's a rune may have while formations use many symbols with different meaning to get the precise result they desire.

Now that we have gotten settled on what runes are, we will focus on the use of runes…

The book goes on to say a few things about how runes can be used which you note, the minor things you pick up well on but some of the rituals and crafts slip out your grasp before you feel like you can get it to stick

Gained the following: Inscribing large runes over a big rock or wood., Runic Readings, Runic Inscriptions, Cary of runes to gain benefits, meditation on a rune, Runic pouches.
You will be able to work on this in the following weeks to come to further understanding of runes if you so wish to pursue such a craft.

Alright I made it my priority to trust in the rolls no mater what. Extra research surplus made into this book will be added onto the next book. But only one book at a time.

Earleen devoured the book as though it was a peanut butter bread sandwich.

The knowledge contained within the book entered and flowed through her like a dessert of sand sinking into an endless deep sink hole that was the knowledge contained within the book.

The book had continuations from what Earleen could tell by the announcement of a sequel to the book at the back end of it but for whatever reason she couldn't find any of them in the library despite her desperate hunger and search for knowledge.

It was not a waste of time however. Through the book she gained understanding of what runes meant and finally how to use runes in their most basic form of rune craft last explained to her in the book, Invoking of a runes power.

It wasn't anything fancy however, that seemed to require much more in-depth knowledge of rune craft and this thing called 'communing' with runes, whatever that meant.

She didn't have access to knowledge which would further her runic knowledge so Earleen tossed the idea of doing any magical doodad as she closed the book, she spent two weeks studying.

She learned however to channel forth the passive most basic meanings of the rune onto herself, surrounding herself with the runes passive energies which overflowed from the runes she was near or had on her and it would passively aid her in it' own way relating to the runes most basic meaning.

It was certainly an interesting read and now that Earleen understood how to use runes in it's most basic form she could feel forth the small energies of the runes made the past week swirl around her weakly but enough to notice the small trickle of energies helping her on day to day actions.

Although she couldn't see the energies surrounding her right ow which were reserved for second rank mortal practitioners in cultivation, she could still feel the energies positively flow in and around her very being which seemed to passively help her.

'Must have been the positive runes energies I carved last week' were Earleen's thoughts as she put a close to the book after spending two weeks of dedicated study to understand the basics of runes and returned the book to the librarians who quite promptly give you a look of surprise as you return it.

Earleen now finished with her studies decided it's time to head out of the library exit and go to the café until suddenly a wild flash of light blinds her and seems to block her from leaving the library.

'To bright' were Earleen's thoughts when she looked straight into the light trying to find out what was going on.

The light dims moments after however and Earleen manages to get a good look at the girl before you, bright gold blond hair radiating light from the stars.

The girl you remember having a fight with the library staff just two weeks ago and proceeded to knock one of the out cold.

The girl now gives you a grin of what seems to be deadly excitement before saying in a curious voice "So I see your favored by fortune quite a bit I see, having a girl like you by my side… say would you like to be my minion?"

Earleen quite dumbfounded by her question gives her a stare before quietly saying under the girls domineering aura says "…I'm sorry what?"

The girl in flashing light gives you a murderous grin before saying "Oh you know, you just agree to serve me part-time as you people on Earth like to call it and I give you pay. Simple really, right?"

The girl continues to give Earleen a questioning stare expecting an answer quickly it seems to which results in a sudden awkward silence between her and you.

she breaks the silence soon though after making a clutzy looking face as though she has made a sudden realization about the suddenly awkwardness between you to and says "Oh yes I almost forgot about pay didn't I, anyhow you'll be paid quite well for a mortal with no family backing. 1 Bronze Maple Coin for you per week should be good enough, right!"

She gives you a beaming smile and is seemingly surrounded by what seems to bright flashing lights of different colors which seem to match the color of the countless stars above the skies during the night, seemingly expecting her answer enough to get you to accept her offer.

Earleen however confused deciding the girl's skull deflecting any common logic an Earthling would have decided finally to give it to the girl straight on what exactly she's offering and what her job as a so called 'minion' would entail as professionally as possible like Ezrin acted out when facing some tough looking people.

after a long silence Earleen says "ok, I'm not entirely sure what your offering me so please give it to me straight on what my job as your minion would entail and who are you? I barely know you and would like to know who I would be possibly working with in the future if I consider this part-time job as a 'minion' you offered to me right now"

Earleen despite trying to sound her most professional like Ezrin can still feel however the strain in her smile and slow twitch in her eye as she tries to handle this sudden awkward situation in front of her.

A sudden job offers and from a girl who looks no less her age? Earleen knew not to trust looks and age when dealing with people, especially practitioners but she still found it hard to keep a straight face and act calm despite the sudden presence of this girl which from her presence she felt the lights surrounding her glow different colors with different power yet the space in-between those lights around her seemed to darken like the black space in-between each star in space.

It was quite frankly giving the girl an aura which gave of a sense of beauty and dread the more she looked at her and fell under the experience of her aura but she of course never showed it, at least to the best of her abilities to stay calm.

The girl in front of you seemed to give you a sudden sideways glance of attempting to understand what she just said before saying "Ah yes yes yes, I'm Elliot, apart of the Shining Star family or otherwise called the The Shining Stars of The Sky. Anyhow for what being my minion would entail you would simply just have to do what I order you to do but I won't be asking for much, simply just be my guide on Earth and be there for me when I call you out for the week. the other girls around me are so strict and causing me nothing but trouble as you could see last week"

The girl seems to point at one of the librarians to which Earleen notices was the one who seemed to have a 'fight' with her, if it could even be called that.

The boy however seems to notice her gaze and hand in pointing in his direction and with a quickly gets out of sight from her view.

Elliot in front of you sighs before saying dejectedly "Don't cause me problems like that and we'll get along just fine."

The girl Elliot gives Earleen a dejected smile but one filled with mild sense of hope as she looks at you and continues "I'm looking for a girl who can reliably ease my stay on Earth while not causing me trouble. I'll call you out when I need you for something but at most, you'll just make sure I don't screw up my stay here."

The girl pauses while looking at Earleen but her face hardens for a moment as she glances at you coldly as you feel the surrounding space darken like the black sky of night she says "If you cause me problems like my 'friends' did last week know that theirs nothing holding me back from roughing you up for a bit. I'm generally pissed and want to punch something after last weeks 'incident' but can't because she's a 'friend' so do try to not get on my nerve".

Her final words leave a cold expression on Earleen as she felt the coldness in her words reach every part of your body. Especially so when she said 'friend' so coldly.

The new girl Elliot continues to give you the quiet cold black stare which sends shivers down your spine before changing her sights to someone else.

The girl seems to give a quiet death glare at one of the girls who seem to be her lackeys to which the girl doesn't notice but seems to have shivered a bit before glancing at you.

The new girl Elliot gives you a quiet observing stare when she finishes and seems to be expecting your answer

What is it?

[] Sure, I'll work with you. What could possibly go wrong?

[] just wait, I'd rather ask my dad Ezrin on his opinion before saying yes to the job offer [Note: Earleen will tell Elliot that she'll ask her father first before accepting in the nicest way possible, not rudely. whether she accomplishes that and does not screw up somehow is... questionable]

[] No, I don't know who you are but your weird so no. [note: Earleen will try to let say no to her as gently as possible]

Big change, I will be allowing 4 actions per week.

Part-Time Job Offer Description
Part-time Job offer Description:

Will be called at random when the girl wants/needs Earleen by her side. This will be decided by me but I will occasionally roll the dice on whether she wants to meet you for something leisurely.

This will take an action away from future weeks if she decides to call you for next week

The job of being an Earthly guide on Earth for a foreigner will often throw you into many… less than normal situation than any other part-time job will be offered your way but hey, you'll work in general less than 20 Hours in a normal part-time job

You'll have to get along with her 'friends', at least not be in their way or problem.

She says she'll rough you up real hard if you screw up… and she really looks like she means it

Pay: 1 Dark Maple Coin, 5.00$ per week

Dark Maple Coin: It is the lowest form of spirit stone in Canada. Why is it called Bronze Maple Coin? BeCauSe nATioNaLisM BOYYY.

For all serious though I decided that every country has decided to name the different grades of spirit stones differently for there own varied reasons. I'll talk about it more later if we study a book on it.

Please do note that if you accept this job you most likely won't be able to accept work with another master as it is viewed negatively to serve two different masters or practitioners. Keep in mind though you will be able to still take on other jobs in the future just not a more permanent jobs which involve serving another master. You can always quit later but like…why? Anyhow don't expect another person to ask you to serve them if you do accept her offer. Their will be more opportunities in the future so don't feel pressured to accept her offer. Much more so if you pursue runic craft.

Mechanics for runes
Mechanics:

Alright, you know the runes you guys made? Well yeah, they will grant minor bonuses to actions and story events passively in ways relating to said rune. Right now, Earleen is carrying no runes but the effects of her being surrounded by many runes at her house and garden give her a natural passive aura of runic energy flow around her which will give bonuses. Right now, she has the runes he made last week giving her bonuses relating to said following runes. I'll decide when to apply it and give ways or suggestions to use runes should we pursue such a craft but will be open to player perception on how to use the power of a rune if it can be logically be stretched to do so. Don't tell me to use the rune 'thorn' to heal someone unless you can come up with a logical reason why and that's really STRECHING it but if its a good reason WHY then I'll consider it an avenue of research Earleen could take for using the rune in that way. For no however we only know how to invoke a runes energy and nothing more complex so save that for the future. I'll remind you guys when we reach a point when we can however do such things in the future if we reach a point Earleen can use runes powers in more complex ways then simply invoking its energies. I'll offer many different paths in the future for you guys to explore in the future but as time goes on you will find your path more narrower.
Authors Note: ok, I feel like I need to clarify some things. You in general won't be able to in general do any magical shit until second stage mortal practitioner stage. right now you guys are in awakened mortal stage which means your only cultivating your body and not your spirit. This is mainly to give me time in how to decide to cultivate spirit depending on the path you guys decide for Earleen to take. Runecrafts though are an exception as well as any other craft arts but don't expect massive returns unless you heavily invest in a craft. Anyhow now I guess it's time to begin.

Also I will update the mechanics page for Earleen and the things she gained tomorrow if nothing comes up again in my life.[/accordion]
