Rogerd RP Thread Idea Dump

Location
United Kingdom
Okay this is where I will put all my ideas, just so I do not have to spend ideas looking for them when I get chance to run one.

Idea 1
1980's RP.
Players can be anything, but no outright superhumans. Live action only, some films would be included. In the list below I have included a lot of stuff stuff that would fit into this shared universe, and in the decade it was shown., There is some stuff after the 1980's, but it should kind of help influence what kind of characters people want to play.

Version 1: Thinking they should be OC
Version 2: Or an alt. version where the world was conquered by the Visitors.

1970's: Bionic Man, Bionic Woman, The Champions, The Saint
1980's: A-Team, Airwolf, Automan, Beauty & the Beast, Blue Thunder, Cat's Eyes, Dempsey & Makepeace, Knight Rider, Last Ninja, Manimal, Ninja Master, Robin of Sherwood, Street Hawk, The Equalizer, V
1990's: Early Edition, Highlander: Series, Pretender, X-Files, Viper
2000's: Nikita
2010's: Batman: Dark Knight, Helix (Immortals), Elementary. Man from Earth & Holocene Man.

There is also some stuff that is included, but omitted as not available to players, e.g. Remo (both films). So even the heroes who may be able to take on three or four people are nowhere near say Daredevil (MCU tv). in essence, you may be slightly above human, so don't get too confident.

Multiverse RP
Anyone familiar with the Age system?
As thinking of a multiverse campaign heavily involving Threefold, as they fight against the Divine Empire.

Call of Cthulhu

Players are immortals walking through the ages, but here is the catch - it is Call of Cthulhu! Bright side it would be Pulp rules so players would be the kind to punch the Deep One in the face, then hack (or shoot) in later ages repeatedly to make sure it is dead.

My first idea is that players will start in a very much Robin of Sherwood (80's tv series) type era, or Roma. Not sure which. Thinking that is well suited to CoC.

You will be travelling through the ages of Earth, up to present day, and possibly beyond.

You may well travel into the past, and possibly other universes too boot. There will be huge time skips, which might well be centuries. I am working on a way to ensure chargen is easy and simple.

Super Soldiers across the multiverse, only thing is players get to be enhanced.

Eugenics: NuKhan
Technology: Juicer only no five year life restrictions.
Super Soldier: MCU Cap America, Titans Slade, Arrowverse Slade.

You all have the ability to learn mystical abilities in your travels too, only the Juicer is more restricted due to enhancements.

Multiverse RP
Thinking of running a Multiverse RP (if my Vigilante RP ends sooner than thought), where the players are what amounts to low level MCU Asgardians, as you travel the multiverse. it will draw from things like Palladium Rifts and stuff like that, and also include Star Trek and other science fiction or fantasy locations you will find yourselves in. Your goal is to accumulate power, or knowledge, gather whatever objects would help you in your goal.

Witchctraft / Buffy RP
Thinking of also adding in Warrior Nun & The Protector.
Players can either be a Slayer, Halo Bearer, immortal, vampire or maybe something else.
Will use Cinematic Unisystem, but once chargen complete it will be freeform thereafter.

Savage World Suzerain
Players can come from any one of the published Savage Worlds settings, but with one rule - one player per setting.
This does not mean everyone can come from Rifts - there is Accursed, Shaintar, Rifts, Titan effect, Ancient World, Shadowed Earth, Mythic, Olympus Inc etc.
As long as your character comes from a particular setting, and not just thought up using one of the books.

Players in question must be familiar in the SW setting they are using.
I will create a points structure for various edges, to make it easier, assuming there is interest?

Star Trek AU
Thinking a Star Trek RP might be in order, only in this TNG will take place 5 months after TMP, so Kirk and Picard will know one another. This RP will take place another five years later, at the end of the Enterprise's mission. The Federation will be fiddling with Transwarp (as seen in TMP),

As TMP had an almost Call of Cthulhu bent, with V'Ger being god-like etc, I was thinking that players will take the role of investigators - each one will be on their own, but will have access to scientific magic (kind of like the Force or from Sorcerer's Apprentice) as they act on intelligence regarding weird stuff - sort of kind the Occult version of DTI.

These investigations will take you across the Milky Way, and to other galaxies.

The ideas below will be using Gurps Infinite Worlds, Gurps Cabal, Mutants and Mastermind Book of Magic, Champions Mystic World, and Age Threefold. If you have not purchased these little rpg gems, you absolutely should they are fucking brilliant, even if you dislike the system, the sheer amount of worldbuilding potential is awesome.

My first idea is this-

Possibly thinking of doing a preternatural rp using a Cinematic Unisystem hack. Once characters are created then it will be freeform, and no dice used.

The setting will be using Gurps Cabal and Infinite Worlds, combined with Champions Mystic World. Now Champions Mystic World gets Gurps Cabal and really expands upon the Sephiroth ideas, an example being that Hod is a set of seperate dimensions that run entirely on magic. With the astral realm being home to all (including Monotheistic ones - although these would not be used). And Netzach has dimensions that are ruled by some, e.g. Dormammu's Dark dimension.

Essentially the players, as part of the Cabal will be travelling the multiverse seeking out artifacts and powers. This will allow then to gain powers too. Now because I am using Champions Mystic World, do expect to enter a couple of the settings. I will also be using some Mutants and Mastermind and likely some DC settings too. So just a heads up.

In addition to gaining power - which can get dull, you will be dealing with a possible Qlippoth threat. As this rp progresses, it will give me time to re-read Mage (Ascension and Awakening) so players can get some real growth.

Essentially you will be kicking ass and taking names.

Second idea is-

Set in Age Threefold Multiverse, and the cosmology (more-or-less). Players will be part of what is in essence a planar equivalent of the Federation as they explore the multiverse and try to prevent a faction known as the Divine Empire gaining too much influence.

The multiverse is in essence composed of planes that run by normal physics, and magic users are rare and are influenced by machine intelligences and future technology; those that are largely influenced by magic, and planes that are ruled by either a benevolent or malevolent intellgence (Hell-World or Elysium).

This as you can see is more WIP, but I as I want to remain true to Age characters, for this, though it will not remain such as you progress, I am currently working on an Age chargen hack.

In summary two multiverse romps, and while both feature magic, the second one is a little grounded while the first is more fantastical, to the mind bending quality.

Being an immortal human in the Call of Cthulhu sounds like a punishment. The characters' sanity slowly erodes and the time strips away their humanity. They can fight, but they are insignificant before the cold abyss of the universe.

The pulp rules lighten up the atmosphere, but the core doesn't change. Never stare into the abyss, or it'll stare back. The immortals will eventually glimpse a tiny fraction of the truth. And this will inevitably cripple them.

How do you see the characters of the story: as heroes or ordinary humans? Will you change the rules of the universe? If so, how?

Can I play a Mortal Kombat sorcerer? Just kidding. Seriously I'm interested in the 1980's role play a little bit.

In 7ed there are rules, easily tweaked, to allow characters to get used to the Mythos, so the effect of smaller things is negligable. Plus, if one goes a little bit lala for a decade or two, that is the benefit of immortality - time to heal.

As to the cause of their immortality I am kind of thinking A Man from Earth or some kind of retrovirus. They are killable, but it is not easy to do so. The characters are human-ish, slightly stronger and faster, so they have an advantage over a normal human.

From a world building perspective, before Atlantis a few humans became immortal, magic was more common then and their powers fell into legend. An age later they became known as Olympians, and were the feeble gods of Earth.

They're dead now, probably. What killed them? Well who would want to poke that kind of hornet's nest. Any immortal doing that must have some serious deathwish.

So players will be able to learn magic, and I will be using the Grand Grimoire by Chaosium, minus permanent expenditures. That would be reserved for more powerful magic, but it will be temporary. Players will have a hard enough time as it is, being totally infirm would ruin it.

Because we are going pulpy on this, the players are heroes, flawed, and fighting a battle they cannot win. But that does not stop them from putting out some of the fires.

And they are not alone.

Delta Green is fighting the good fight too. Maybe an unchanging immortal that keeps popping up may get noticed? Perhaps DG will help them?

And there are other organisations out there too. Most are not benevolent - seeking power, a good number totally malevolent. Will an immortal get on their radar, could an immortal's unending lifeforce be used to power spells.

Best they don't find out.

To add to the Call of Cthulhu idea, I may use Apocthulhu as a base, such that you are all in the End Times. A small group of survivors find themselves running, eventually ending up together. They find a spell which they cast, sending them back in time.

But in so doing scatters them across the world. Initially, they would not know they were immortal, but when they find out, they can have the revelation - uf they are unaging and hard to kill, perhaps the others were.

Is anyone familiar with Age setting?

DriveThruRPG

For anyone not familiar with it - it would also work great with Gurps Infinite Worlds too.

I likely will not be using the Age system, unless players have a copy of Modern Age. In absence of this, I may well end up either using CineUni - although there would be no dice rolling, it would be a purely freeform game.

Essentially the multiverse is split into Primes (and parallel Earth's), where magic can be used, although it is not common. And Otherworlds where magic is the rule of law, and Netherworlds (Hell-Worlds). Trippy thing about them is that they are literally hell dimensions or unforgiving afterlives where the souls of the dead toil endlessly (hence the idea to use CineUni). Really terrible places to end up. On humanity's side is the Perdexion, which is essentially run by an Emanate (incorporeal machine intelligence) intent on helping humankind.

There are other Emanates (think of them as incorporeal elder gods / other gods) which also have Alastor servants (demons or angels) that run the Netherworlds. There is also the Hierarches (inspired real world mythological gods) so although one may be similar to Thor, he is not Thor. They had children called Optimates some of which formed the Divine Empire, which you will come across as a known enemy. And also the Nighthost, a large collection of warriors that do conquer planes - but as a whole work on honourable combat etc.

There are beings above the Emanates, that players will become aware of during the game.
Each player will be part of the Sodality (Dimensional version of Federation, sans Prime Directive - you are supposed to interfere!) that was forced to run from enemy by using a Quantum Ark (travelling device) that ended up somewhere strange.

Second idea is Suzerain (Savage Worlds).

To save double posting, I will expand upon the Savage Worlds idea. In fact I will likely tie it into the Threefold setting or Suzerain - possibly both as they fit very nicely together.

Again, likely will not be using Savage Worlds chargen, unless people have it.
I am thinking that the players will start as modern day characters that enter a portal finding themselves in a fantasy setting and in order to enable you to survive you will be given a choice of occupations you can have.

The setting will be Beasts and Barbarians - a very much Savage World version of Conan.

You will be given a selection of occupations to choose from-

Professions-
Amazon / Spartan (I added this last one just to avoid erm....well you know): They are warriors, trained that way from birth to excel at all forms of combat.
Archer: They are trained in a variety of projectile weapons, including the longbow. Many are able to fire more than one arrow at once.
Barbarian: Live in the wilds, trained in combat and survival.
Champion: They fight for a particular religion or deity.
Demon Hunter: They are devoted to fighting the undead and demons in all shapes and sizes.
Mage: This is a dark art, calling upon dark powers.
Monk: They can be either comtemplative or militant.

Metaphysics-
Enlightenment (Monks): Through intensive meditation, and discipline they are capable of amazing feats
Lotus: This is a combination of herbalism and alchemy, as they use a plant called the Lotus that mixes with other ingredients that once imbued with magical energy can become a variety of concoctions.
Magic (Sorcery): Not only are they dark arts, but they rely upon the Nameless Ones that can destroy their very find or consume the user's soul. It is a dangerous art, but quite rewarding.

After B&B you will likely end up on Shaintar, another S&S type setting, but magic is far less subtle, and far more fantastic. It is here that you will learn of your true potential, and gain your Telesma. There players will also get to learn other professions, get more training and also learn other metaphysics. And it is here that you will learn about the Tempest.
