Rimworld: Anomaly - Void Gods, Golden Cubes and Wall Lights (1.5)

Due to the re-balancing of Alpha 16, your medicine has a bigger impact on your healing rate than your Doctor skill at this point. A level 18 Doctor with Herbal medicine will do a less effective job than a level 6 Doctor with Glitterworld tech. Also, did you notice how you've gotten much fewer infections? At this point, sterile tiles are not as worth as it was before.

Friendship is Magic (A Guide)
Lumi and Engie hate each other's guts. How do you get them be BFFs?

1. Mark one bed as a medical bed.
2. Mark an operation on one of them. Send one of them to bed.
3. Have a doctor sedate the patient, then cancel before the procedure starts.
4. Change your medical bed to a prisoner or normal bed. The patient will be thrown off the bed, helpless.
5. Send their rival to save them, instantly giving a +15 to their relationship.
6. Repeat for friendship.

Clearly your doctor's eyesight wasn't too good if they confused the patient's neck for their thigh.
See, it's funny because the guy who I tried installing a bionic leg on is missing said leg. :V

Word. This makes so much more sense now.

My little pawn: Friendship is gaslighting

RIP Engie.

Our best builder, great crafter, good friend.

Pilas were not meant to be blocked with faces.

New base.

I built a wall and made the pirates pay for it.

Vegetable garden is the only mod that makes having a big kitchen worth it.

Workshop and future hospital.

Added killbox in the south along with crematorium. Did you know you can cremate corpses and make fertilizer with the Vegetable Garden mod?

Was able to tame six muffalos on the edge of the map. You don't see it but a while later, a group of chickens joined the colony.

Needs more bedrooms. Might attach one next to the hospital for the doc and his wife.

Is there a reason you have all the clothes sitting there? And how are you handling the heat from the power thing you have indoors?

The clothes in the workshop? Yeah I'm just leaving it there. If I have time, I'll build a "supply closet" with clothes that are >50% health and normal quality and higher.

If you mean the clothes by the crematorium, when you burn bodies, the clothes automatically come off. Yes, I cremated around 20 raider corpses that I exhumed from graves to make fertilizer. Fascinatingly, cremation doesn't give any negative moodlets.

As for the geothermal generator, it's been nerfed in terms of heat if I'm remembering it right. Yeah it's hot, but it's warmth for the base and that's fine. It teeters around the 21 Celcius mark.

I hadn't realised the temperature had been weakened.

I normally just shove clothes from the cremated back into the cremator. It saves time and complaints from having people wear clothes that a guy died in.

You can assign clothes in the assign tab. It's pretty great when you have a lot of clothes that gives buffs like FashionRimsta does.

Another useful workaround for the "dead man's threads" debuff is the Mending mod, which removes the status as part of the way it 'repairs' items and clothing. (Basically, it uses them as crafting ingredients to make an identical item of the same or lower quality.) Exploit-ish? Maybe, but it's not completely contrary to common sense if you think of it as washing off the blood and patching up the bullet holes.

Washing off the blood and patching up the bullet holes isn't going to stop the ghost of the dead guy from haunting you for being so cheap as to wear his clothes instead of making your own from his skin.

I just sell clothes worn by dead people, since I don't need to distinguish because I make my (usually crap) threads to order.

How do you all handle the needs more bedrooms issue? I usually end up having to build extra rooms just for them which tends to throw off my ordered and defendable buildings.

I sometimes just use a barracks but it's problematic when you have multiple people break in the same room.

Defendable buildings? What are those?

Seriously, my base resembles a shanty town with sandbags and turrets scattered everywhere, some useful, some not.

I usually just expand my perimeter defences every time I build a new terrace. Normal practice is to stick a gun complex (from the More Turrets mod) and some sandbags at each likely angle of attack for raiders and back them up by sticking a few turrets and/or deadfall traps at likely choke-points. It works well enough as long as I space everyone out well enough that someone with a rocket launcher can't take more than two or three of them out at once.

If you want to defend large areas, make bunkers. A small, sturdy, little fort with sandbags. Make multiple of them, line shooters, and fire away.

Just got rimworld. Also, while I'll probably play one or two games without them on, what mods would you all recommend?

What's the difference between trading spot and trading spot A16?

The difference is it's Trading Spot and Caravan Spot. Trading Spot is where you put your market where friendly caravans park themselves so you don't have to worry them being in your kill box. Can also be hillariously misused to place near psychic ships.

CARAVAN SPOT is where you put your pack animals nearby so they don't wander off to the edge of the map before you spend forever packing them.

It's a lot of extra work, but I just really, really love building into mountains.

In my current base, I found two clearings in the mountains. One I'm using for herbal medicine, and the other for solar panels so they're nice and relatively safe.

I'm just getting into mods now, the only one I've got so far is the target dummies so I can train up shooting and melee a bit. Might try out the vegetable garden mod so I can farm something more interesting.

Does anyone know of any mods that let you train up social, or is it just best to imprison someone and set the warden to friendly chats?

I don't have many mods active. I think the only ones I currently have active are prepare carefully, one which adds more turrets and one which makes rebuilding easier.
