On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

I don't think we should try for Bronn. Bara Steelplate will definitely take him on, and i don't want a fight, even though there is a "no hard feelings" clause.

Karstah Khazadsdottir we should definitely take on. Snorri has a soft spot for foundlings.

The question is, should we take Nain as well. I think it would help him to be away from his clan for a while. If he's in a dual apprenticeship with his cousin under Bara, (who favors his cousin despite trying not to) we might see an Ugly rivalry forming. It's better if he gets taken on by another Runelord first.

So:
[X] Number: 2.
[X] Apprentice: Karstah Khazadsdottir
[X] Apprentice: Nain Kazzarsson of Clan Stoneplate

I feel grab Karstah Khazadsdottir . Also for a moment I was afraid we had unlocked another research path
Its only not a research path if we don't make it one :V:V:V
>> Be Lorna
>> Be woken up by banging on door.
>> Who could it be at this hour.
>> Is Runelord Snorri Klausson.
>> Raving about being tired of you writing things down and how proper Runesmiths just remember what their masters told them.
>> Shoves a box delicately engraved with little pillows in your hands then falls over and begins snoring.
>> How long has he been awake?
>> Box begins speaking!
>> "Instructions on how to engrave the Master Rune of the Gramo-Gronti"

Put an Orphan on the list and everyone is taking her, and if you put an average boy on the list... Well now we're building a theme I believe. Snorri deciding to take in the less talented to give them a steady guiding hand.

Of course I could be reading too much into it.

I prefer the 2 very determinate apprentices. It seems that narratively, their motivation will reinforce each other's.

Snorri's personal equipment and gear he uses.

[Armor] War Plate. [Master Rune of Gromril, Rune of Fortitude, Rune of Impact.] Forged in joy, tempered in grief, worn in battle.
[Weapon] Rune hammer. [Master Rune of Conduction, Rune of Fire, Rune of Striking] Good for hitting, good from crushing.
[Weapon] Rune axe. [Rune of Cleaving, Rune of Daemon Slaying, Rune of Fury.]Good for cutting, for slicing.
[Talisman] Ruby and Diamond Amulet. [Combo: Conversion.] No magic shall harm me, girded in her gifts.
[Banner] Ruby Cloak. [Combo: Daemonward.] Deep red silk, edged with purest down. A reminder of brighter, warmer days. Later engraved in grief. A patch on it, that to a normal dwarf is invisible but is clearly visible to you marrs its beauty. The fine edges still stand sturdy, but for who knows how long.
The Vault got updated. Given that both our T3 equipment appears to have been gifted to us it seems that Snorri has always been a bit slow in upkeeping his duds.

If we take two, The Orphan and Nain. If we just take one I would say the Orphan. Drive is just as important as talent, You could have all the talent in the world but without the proper drive you will accomplish nothing.

Hmm, definitely Karstah, if nothing else because it seems in character.

As for the others, I kinda want Bronn just to force Bara into taking Nain. You know, a friendly teaching challenge. That said I would be fine with either of the cousins.

Otherwise loved the detail on the Dawi wedding, I wonder if many women have tried to wear armour for their wedding dress?

I agree with you but with dwarves drive usually isn't the problem, they're hardwired from day one to take things seriously and do their best.
Exceptional drive for a dwarf though is interesting they'll either break or make it.

Don't want to fight Bara over her grandson, and while everyone seems to want to take two apprentice, I would prefer one.

Not interested in Nain Kazzarsson.

And of course Karstah Khazadsdottir. "Holding on to what few items of value she has, two sets of clothes, two hammers, and a dwarf doll that bears your mark ". Break my heart, can't let a foundling alone like that..

The foundling has spent 30 years trying to find something she can do to contribute. She's also probably got some deep feelings about loss considering she apparently clutches to her few possessions.

Honestly, picking her and giving her something she can do, some structure and a way to contribute to the Holds or against daemon shits would probably be the best thing anyone could do for her.

Kinda already genuinely interested in what she's going to do if/when she becomes a Master Runesmith and gets enough prestige to start her own clan. Would she keep her previous clan's name or what?

Hm, Snorris previous apprentices are in holds the Karaz Ankor has lost contact with? That's weird, we know Zorn is doing all right and all Northern holds are in contact or confirmed Fallen, so where....

Did... did they go east? By the ancestors... i don't think Snorri would take it well if even one of his apprentices was taken by Hashut. I hope that crit during the incursion was enough to keep things from going down the canon road...

Definitely the foundling. Poor lass just needs the opportunity to become a great runesmith.
Would she keep her previous clan's name or what?
Does she, or anybody, know it even?

That would be one hell of a grudge to avenge.

Think it's more that the actually talented one is another runelord's great grandson, and it would be kinda rude to fight her for her relative. If he wasn't related I'd be going for Bronn in a heartbeat.

Question:
If we choose to take 2 apprentices, Karstah Khazadsdottir and Bronn Grundisson, but we fail the DC...
Will we automatically choose Nain Kazzarsson instead of Bronn?

They could have gone west into the Vaults or south in the direction of Karag Zorn

Well, we know Zorn is in contact and it is the Southernmost hold so we should know the fate of all other Holds in that area. As for the Vaults, since I don't think the canon Karaz Ankor lost contact with the holds there... East seems the only option. And they were probably radical runesmiths, just like their master. It is said that the ancestors of the Dawi-Zharr were considered extremely radical Dwarfs.

Now theoretically, FJolla wouldn't even attempt to make a master Rune without your explicit say so, but even then you weren't willing to bet on something like that.
The j in Fjolla should not be capitalized. The m in master should be capitalized.

thoroughly engrossed in his " test," you pat Dolgi on the back
You put a space between the apostraphe and test.

"Ah-ah I yes, I never realized Klorah was marrying that Dolgi, how silly of me," she says, looking away and chuckling nervously.
Was this an attempt at small talk?

Same for FJolla, they'll know how to use their time in the meanwhile," you grunt out before walking off down the path.
The j in Fjolla shouldn't be capitalized.

Flicks of light flare up as they shift, emanating from the Runes engraved on the Grromril "bones" you made to support the entire structure inside
You put an extra r after the g in gromril.

Almost immediately after, a flaming axe blade and butt spike sprout from the sides of his hand while his wrist is locked into place by the Gromril rod that extends through his arm to give the entire structure stability.

Im sorry, the axe blade is fixed to the arm, unable to rotate? That seems very unwieldy and inefficient.

"Aye, I suppose that's true. Wished there was a way to go about making a transcriber eh?" she says, chuckling nervously, "Would aid me a great deal that's for sure."

[Student of the Odd]

Hmmm, there may be something there actually. A variant of the Rune of Waking...but it needed something else. Rune of Prosthesis would probably be a better base considering, but there was also the apparatus such a thing to consider as well…

...of course! You widen your eyes and slam your fist against your open palm.

You could see it happening, maybe even feasible too.

"Lord Klaussson?"

Turning to eye the fidgeting young Runelord whose staring at you anxiously after your outburst brings you out of your musing. You grunt in an attempt to assuage any fears she may have.

You'll pay her back for inspiring you somehow.
Dara Input and Record
She has a dignified air about her, even as she is lifted onto the gargantuan and finely constructed machinery of the Nuptial scales. The clink of gears and levers chimes for several seconds as the hair precise machinery uses Klorah's weight to calculate the final value of her Bride Price.
Calculation/Manipulation based on Data.

Just get some way to get Data Output and Snorri could build a Computer. And he could use one. We know that when designing some runes he was doing some serius calculations to seventh degree after point and was beoming such shoddy precision. And if he could make use of one so would probably other Dwarf Guilds.
