On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Oh my, oh my, oh MY. FIVE Runelords?

Why is SHE here? To learn from Snorri on some subject, or to reclaim lost Karak? Or something else, I wonder?

If we piqued her interest that would be lovely. Change your mind.

King Otrek is going to be ecstatic. He loves runes, he has heavily supported the growth and development of Kraka Drakk as a runic center in the Far North, and that was all with one, albeit very productive, Runelord. With five Runelords... even if one of them is short term, I bet he is salivating at the possibilities.

All in all, I bet King Otrek wakes up every day more grateful that he commissioned Trollslayer and decided to back the runic horse because the runic horse is going far.

Bah! Real dwarves don't use horses!

They use four-legged masterwork gronti.

mmm
Vrangni Silverbrand, Runelord of Kraka Ornsmotek: Standing 4*, Favours 0
I wonder why this one is asterisked and why their standing is much lower vs the others? I'd ask soulcake, but presumably there's a reason the footnote isn't in yet.

But, yeah 4 rune lords is a lot 5 is yikes.

I don't think this needs spoilers @soulcake for reference (unless I just missed it somewhere) what are the numbers of rune lords per hold expected to be right now? Like minor hold 1, medium 2ish, major 3 keystone (like Karak 8 peaks) 4 and Karaz a Karak as many as possible?

It is in. Look at the bottom of the post

Note: Standing isn't a one to one thing across institutions. Ranks that would be [deeply honoured] for one group may be the barest standard to be respected for another.
* Doesn't mean he likes you.

Runelords go where they please. Having 2 in a minor hold is a sign of great prestige. Most holds of your current size dont go beyond 3 if theyre lucky enough to even have any. Major holds can have around 4 and up on average. Places of significance to the guild like Karaz a Karak, Izril, Brynduraz, Izril and Karag Dron have higher than that usually.

Oh yeah he's the one who doesn't like the comparisons I remember now...well that's better than I thought.

A student of Yorri of Clan Thungnisson, famed for his monstrous productivity and odd demeanour. The Gift Giver, as he is most often called, is beloved in Kraka Drakk and awed throughout the north and respected everywhere else. Many of his deeds are legend, as is his seeming generosity. One is hard-pressed to find a Dwarf in Kraka Drakk that does not bear something he has made. To the Runesmiths he is a figure of intense confusion, intent and attention solely geared towards how useful he can be to his home, to a degree that (privately) impresses even the hoariest Living Ancestor.

I think this is new. We've got a paragraph instead of a bullet point list

My oh my.

Assuming miss Gilded Eyes is here long term by Dawi standards we're making fast progress towards getting to major status.

Oh hey looks like Yorri might be a pretty direct discendent of Thungni. Makes the relationship between him and Alric more interesting as well.

I just had a morbid thought, but....did our hold lose enough of its population that it would be a practical simple request action to make a full set of runic equipment for everyone in the hold @soulcake

lol no, you thankfully did not suffer enough of a ruinous loss to basically invalidate the existence of the hold as a distinct entity.

probably need Savant for that level of production. Hopefully we'll get there.
I mean we basically made a pickaxe for every working dwarf during the building of the underway, so it is possible, i am not asking for cladding everyone in gromil or anything, maybe just runic steel equipment, one decade on armor, another on shields, another on weapons, then another on talismans, then a last on banners, though the last will not be for each dwarf since meant for groups, so maybe per family?

Uh, that is just extremely excessive. While yes we did equip the miners imagine that they are only a very small part of the population and pickaxes are just really easy to rune compared to near everything else. Another thing is that IIRC most Dwarfs aren't actually combatants and that become more a thing in the far future where Dwarf kind is severely decimated after the time of Woes that had not just the War of Vengeance but the invasion of the Skaven and Orcs right after the war with the Elves that lead to Dwarfs enlisting a lot more of them to defend the race.

As is it is Dwarfs don't appear to have that many people actually fighting meaning that it would just make no sense to give arms and armor to every single dwarf in the Hold. Also extremely impractical as Soulcake pretty much confirmed.

hmmm how about just a family/clan banner of tireless/unyielding then? or banner and talismans?

a hold that never sleeps or rests

Man think of how awesome it'd be though! To make stuff for literally everyone in the hold.

Imagine that the people that do enjoy sleeping and dreaming likely wouldn't appreciate such things. Including people who just want to relax every once in a while. Might just want to go with something like a healing bath house for the Hold that people can go to relax and have fun.

Though a banner with those affects with a small range would probably be fine if the range is small enough that only those that want to be effected would be the ones under said effect.

so talismans would work better in that case then. for those who want to keep working, or I guess in case of emergency where overtime is needed.
