On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Considering we have a chance to both help hit the Fimir while they are down and possibly meet Malekith, would you be willing to put an action in to March if we take a heir action away from the Wonderful Endeavor and put it in the Drakk rearing? It would also be more interesting for me to see Karstah helping Snorri raise her Drakk siblings than just Snorri alone.
Mmm... tempting but no, as I expect that it will not take a decade to wipe the Fimir out. It is interesting, though.

Hey folks, with Malekith rearing up his still overly-pretty head, I just want to note that if meet him, maybe befriend him, we have a chance of making him a spiffy hat that just might make him more reluctant to mess about with 'stupid hat of obvious bait' - aka circlet of iron - when and if he finds himself stranded up in the north and runs into it.
...
...
My mind is weird.
I am now imagining Malekith getting stranded in the north only to get rescued by that mammoth demigod Snorri met at Karak dum.

Fam, we just need to make him a M.purification gift, modded specifically to act automatically against the presence and influence of the Dark Gods then send him back to Ulthuan. There Malekith will inevitably come by Morathi and once in range, the runes blast the bitch.

Dont blame Snorri that mommy dearest was colluding with Chaos.

Hmmmmm, checked in with Soul and Spite is spooky action at a distance wound replication (muscle damage for burns, frostbite equivalent for cold, blade cuts cause it to manifest cuts, crushing manifests crushing etc etc)

And that is enough confirmation that it won't work with Gildercoat, so I need to rework my Drake's Vengeance.

[ ] [Difficult] Staffing Pt. 1: [Cost: 1 action] Due whenever. If a Rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you. Apply optional reagent materials here. Your Hearthwardens have come to you with an odd request. They have been left with the skull of the Greedy Troll they slew for the sake of Ornsmotek. Several of them have been thinking, on account of your own personal history with their sire, that they could turn the foul thing's skull into a topper for a Banner. They have no real preference about what the Banner does though.

If we're heading off to war, wouldn't it be better to make a banner to buff all our retainers, rather than a talisman to buff only Snorri himself?

I've got no handle on making rune combos, but the Master Rune of Purification seems like a powerful basis for a banner.

If a Rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you. Apply optional reagent materials here. This request will time out by the beginning of Turn 51. Gloin has come to you with a request. Create something to celebrate the coronation of the High King. Already there are several Holds that Gloin knows of who are scrambling to do the same. If you really think about it, he implies, its a contest to see who can make the best gift. Cheeky lad.

[] [Write In] Fire of the Black Halls, Talisman, Pt 1: A ring of adamant, with a bas relief shaped to resemble the winding loops of tunnels connecting glorious halls and the feasting dwarves around the tables and fires of those halls. Minute gems including Hearthstones dot the artwork, providing hints of color and shade to the piece. The environments and dwarves are picked out with incredible life-like detail. Through clever internal mechanisms the ring can be turned to change its size, for the sake of convenience or passage onto a worthy bearer when the time comes. On the banners in the halls, three runes are inscribed, with their glow subtle until Zharr-a-Drakhazi's effects activate.

The Master Rune of Spite (T4 Stonehorn Eye) + Rune of Spellturning (T4 Stone Troll's Blood) + Rune of Gazul's Flame (T4 Magma Wyrm's Blood)

As a thematic statement, I like this: "Protected by fires of the Underearth, if the bearer comes to harm by magic or weapon then the foe will find even more terrible wounds appearing on their body, wounds that burn with the flames of the underworld that abhor all evil things."

@soulcake sorry to change my thing for a third time, please ignore my Drake's Vengeance submissions.

The issue is essentially that good banners will require some research to make, while M. Spite, by itself, will break combat system in half. So amulet is just faster to do.

Right, with that spite talisman submitted, I'm not going to touch it after this.

@Aliya @ArchAIngel small thing I noted: for your plans you'll want to add a [] before Plan so the tally works when we get to voting.

The Slayer Oath is on its own a valuable cultural pressure release valve where a dwarf driven to extremes has a way to do it without fouling up everyone else around them or going down darker paths to find an escape.

The problem with it was less the oath and more that just about every dwarf alive by canon kind of knows they're letting the Ancestors down, Grudges left unfulfilled and the Karaz Ankor crumbling brick by brick every day.

If not Slayers it would be Hashut or whatever promises an answer or action they could at least undertake.
- Combo Renamed! Adamant Maker > Expurgation: Target is surrounded in an inverted magical shield, their body burns from inside as nearby magic can be used to generate enough heat to vaporize them in a flash of light. Devastatingly effective against Magical entities.
...Daemon fryer?

Maybe an Autokill if not Permadeath for Daemon in its Range. Its why its the planned MR/LR for the Coronation gift.

Is there a specific reason to spend a Snorri action on planning the talisman instead of using Karstah?
What is the reason for spending 2 actions on Drakk rearing?

I feel like those 2 Snorri actions would be better spend elsewhere, whether that's forging the talisman this turn, getting extra progress on Khazagar, finishing Movement 5b or something else.

Because I want 6 progress on Khazagar this turn so we need three progress at least from Snorri and Karstah and the Retainers, I want to spend 2 actions on the dragons, I want the talisman designed this turn, I want the Retainers to start training, and I don't want to spend Snorri actions on doing Khazagar this turn.

Because the retainers need to watch the waystones, and I want them to do Khazagar work and training, they can't do dragon stuff. Karstah can't do dragon stuff either because I want her to use Khazagar as experience for upgrading her own traits and filling in the other two actions necessary on the building. The thread has been pretty adamant about 2 dragon actions a turn, and I would like to do the same if possible, so all of the above leaves me at this.

Just curious but how strong a runesmith are we? like top 20 living? or is it more top 100?
Burudin level, in that we are comparable to them. How many they are I don't know.

At this point the only thing above Snorri is surpassing the Burudin's capabilities, and then after he achieves that there is becoming an Ancestor God.

Could we not swap a Snorri action for a Karstah or Retainer action here? The Drakk Rearing would greatly benefit from a diversity of dwarves interacting either the young dragons. And if Snorri procs a single extra action on Khazagar, it's not going to risk going over but instead could save us one action down the line.

We could. But if we do Snorri stuff on Khazagar, I'd rather do that on turn 51, where we can commit two at once for example and push Khazagar into the negatives when the end of turn 51 rolls around - increasing the end overflow.

Would stepping in the stuff actually hurt you? Nai.

Would you like to walk around with magma in your boots? Nai again.

The image of Snorri sitting down at a bench and then grumpily dumping MOLTEN ROCK out of his boots like others would do if they stepped into deep water is just hilarious in how busted it is..... treating one of natures most deadly hazards like an annoying inconvenience..... I love it!

And boy is the Master Rune of Purification a beast in all of it's varieties! Burning magic users by using up their own magic against them? Yikes.... and as someone else already noted: this will be a glorious thing to use against anything Nurgle. Purge by fire inside out. Nice!

Guys, since we are going to war in a few turns there we should start the retainer expansion ASAP...

At least so that we can get up to 4 actions and we can finish the training in one single swoop...
