One major upside on the angels is that they seem to be not completely against warlocks and/or death magic, having one working with them.

They're wizards, there's an excellent chance they'll have a rough idea of what it might be, and who's an expert on it.
Are they? I'm under the impression they're fanboys of guilds, not wizards themselves. Teen school club analogue.
Unsurprisingly, the five seated around their parchment-laden table were all in their teenage years with conspicuously finer clothing than could be found on those who had to work for a living.

Edit: Blake'd by the QM...

While i am strongly in favor of talking to the voices in our heads (not doing so would be rude), i am equally strongly against talking about the voices in our head.
Atleast until we get really close to the person we talk to.

You're actually pretty sure that they aren't Wizards—or if they are, then they're weak ones. Either way, they don't have markings anywhere that you can see.
Ah, thank you for the correction, I think I misinterpreted some of their comments.

I think trusting and protecting the voices in our head that wanted to hurt people isn't a great idea. We know this world has various malicious entities.

Protecting the voices?
I'm protecting us.
We do not want to give anyone any ideas that we may be a dangerous demonically possessed warlock, atleast not until we really know and trust them.
And so far the voices have been nothing but helpfull, this constant distrust is just terribly rude. :V

hmm, I like that write in so I'll follow it.

[X] Can they go into more detail about Liquid Horizon and Sylph Symphony? Compare between them, benefits of joining and why would someone study lost magic over magic tools, or vice-versa.

[X] Are there any moral Warlock Guilds around, or is that still thought to be an oxymoron?
[X] Do they happen to know what the general reception for Warlocks has been? There's a big difference between 'legal' and 'accepted.'

We have pretty competent engineering skills already and a good talent for magic. It'd probably be more efficient to just straight dive into their training course than try to figure out a trick to impress them.
True. This plane does not seem to have widespread education just knowing higher math puts Blake several steps ahead of the pack. If she knows calculus then she might actually know more than anyone else on the plane considering how long it took for calculus to be developed on earth. Calculus makes many problems that can't be solved without it trivial.

Liquid Horizons sounds nice.
It matches well with the goal of gaining a well rounded magical toolkit from this plane.

At the moment, these guilds interest me the most (Sylph Symphony especially since Artifice seems to be a uncommon option in these kinds of quests).

On one hand, i am kinda nervous about being seen to be curious about warlocks.
But on the other hand, i also expect Blake to be smart enough to be covert enough about her curiosity.

[X] Are there any additional Guilds that they'd recommend actively avoiding?

1) We don't actually know the voice wanted to hurt people. The only indicator was "Tell us, are they prey?" -- and that could be any number of meanings, right down to simply having a bestial mindset and having witnessed Blake being attacked by someone.

2) There's a massive gap between "responding to incessant whispering in order to make it stop" and "trusting and protecting the voices". Just opening enough of a dialogue to figure out how to get it to shut up if nothing else seems advisable: it's certainly not going to stop poking at her.

3) Literally all we know right now is that it's a Black entity. Are we already going to unilaterally consign all Black entities to malicious status out the gate? Because if so that doesn't exactly bode well for us in the long-term.

I thought that initially as well, but the more I think about it, the more I think Sylph Symphony might be the better choice. The setting has a lot of magical devices, and Blake has already learned multiple useful techniques just by studying them. Having the chance to go a new route with this Quest as opposed to the Jade Igni quest in terms of the crafting route would also be interesting. Plus, the idea of a proper Gambol Shroud Artifact amuses me greatly. Mechashift tech plus magical Artifactery plus Dust-tech is a pretty solid win when it comes to potential combat wankery at the scale Blake can currently conceive of ...

And on top of that, Sylph Symphony is going to be a good place to just have a damn moment to breath. Blake is currently working through the trauma of both betraying Adam and having died in the process. Let's not forget that.

@Alivaril -- I can't get this thought out of my head now. Is there a possibility that Blake could use Drain Life as part of her Aura training routine? Work out how to store the energy in her Aura or draw from it, increase her total Aura without the Dark Vigor drawbacks, use her Aura as a "battery" for Mana magic, etc? It's just that the energies seem very similar.

(more info about the guild is good. what is this, Ravnica?)

[x] Does Lion's Pride have infighting or other political nonsense among their different sub-factions?
(Lion's pride is...neither a good or bad choice, i feel. Still would like more info about the various sub-groups, you never know.)

(Yeah, definetly want to know more about Warlocks. The one in Angel's Eye makes me think we could be a 'legal' one if we want to.)

[x] Do you happen to know what the base level required for the entrance test of Sylph Symphony is?
(Not really the guild i want to join, but knowing arteficing could be good.)

[x] How much freedom do the member of Liquid Horizon have?
(Could be good for us, since it seems that this guild is more lax and we may have many times where we are 'away')

Um quick question, what's a warlock?

Because that term is used for a lot of different things that aren't actually related to one another in any coherent way.

The only context we have so far is "dark and spooky necromancer". Blake doesn't actually know anything more meaningful than that and is assuming it refers to Black Mana usage.

Pretty sure we are a warlock for any practical definition.
Death magic, allegedly spooky potential summonings, necromancy will eventually be an option if we want it.

So fanboy is big on erasure too. Great. That he phrased some of it indistinguishably from RWBY fanboys insisting Blake and Yang arent gay, or JNR arent poly ("We love you, just like you loved Pyrrha" before the 'just good friends' arguments come in) is kinda a worrying sign.

I kinda assume we're going Angels, because they got the longest description, and all the warlock questions only relate to them as far as guilds already named go. They've got the air of author favourite, basically.

Which is a pity, because the guild I like the sound of was dismissed in a paragraph. Sylphs for life. You should have brought Cinzia with you and sponsored her into the Sylph exam at least. But artificing has the greatest potential for meaningful change of all the skills you can bring home to Remnant. A few farming technologies and wards vs grim and the Faunus dont ever need to work for SDC again.

We should absolutely treat them with a great deal of suspicion until they're proven to deserve something else. We're in a part of the world with a massive demon infestation, after all.

No actually, none of those are inherent traits of any codified warlock I've ever seen.

The original term means oath breaker, and the DnD version is, aggravatingly, someone currently keeping up their end of a deal with a supernatural patron.

I meant on the plane we are on, from the descriptions we got from the wizard fans.

Yeah... And Fairy Tale is a setting where being a Demon doesn't necessarily make you evil. Aside from the Etherious and Tartaros Demons (which are manufactured to be evil and are basically Dark Guild Wizards; and even then can have heel-face turns), there are known canonical instances of Demons that are no different morally speaking than the average joe.

And further, being a Demon has absolutely bupkiss to do with being Black. You're making an assumption that is well in excess of the available evidence, and honestly it's not even a helpful one; it boils down to "rather than do anything to figure out why this voice keeps talking to us or what it is, we should assume it's an evil demon and just let it keep whispering in our head forever."

I mean... what's the alternative, here?
