But what if we learn how to fix broken things from her, then apply what we learn to fixing the clock?
...Probably still cheating. We should rank up our Mechanical Expertise by ourselves, at least until rank 30. It's an Honor of the Family thing. The Akemi Pride demands nothing less and all that. Plus, we have our memories of grandpa as a Mentor up to that level and a 10% bonus to learning with a mentor.

Alright, update's going to be delayed until tomorrow--it's basically written, but it doesn't feel good enough after several hours of struggling with it, and Morpheus is here.
I will also be posting the Halloween event then, too.

You step into the room quietly, and check yourself for any weapons you might have drawn without thinking; you find a gun in your hand, and immediately return it to your shield.
Taking a deep breath, you relax your posture, reach over to the wall next to you, and rap your knuckles against it, the resulting bang echoing through the room rather loudly.
You wait for her response, worried she'll panic, but she doesn't respond at all.
You knock again, louder this time, and she jerks violently, yelping as her head loudly strikes something inside the steam turbine. Moments later she shifts, and slips out of the turbine.
She turns quickly, a large, glowing wrench appearing in her grip. Her eyes widen as they meet yours, and she staggers back, crashing into the steam turbine. "Ow!" She stumbles, and almost falls, only barely catching herself on the side of the turbine, "Where-!?"
"Outside, as you might expect. You should listen more closely--you even missed me knocking, the first time."
She blushes a bit at that, but does her best to pull herself together, letting the wrench vanish, "I was working, and no one should know about Yamato."
You shake your head, "You still need to work on it. Many Magi would have used that opportunity." She blanches a bit at the implication, but you quickly change the topic.
"Still, it's not every day that someone just stumbles upon a ship as big as this one. Did you fix her up? I can't help but admire the work that's been done."
Apparently relieved by the change in topic, she grins, patting the steam turbine she was just working on, "Yeah, I did. She's still gotta lot of work that needs doing, but I'm off to a good start. Can't wait to see her at her best!"
She pauses, "Umm…who are you anyway? How'd you get here?"
You smile, trying to be reassuring, "I'm Homura Akemi, a local Puella Magus. I kind of just stumbled across this, while exploring the area."
She stares at you for a moment, looking incredulous.
Realizing that isn't going to be believed, you resort to a trustworthy standby, "Magic. I found this place with magic."
She sighs leaning back against the turbine, "…I guess that's the best I'm going to get, huh?"
You say nothing.
"I…I guess so. Well, it's okay, I guess." She pauses for a second, glancing away before focusing back on you, eyes narrowing, "You're not going to try to take Yamato or something, are you?" Her wrench appears in her grip again.
You quickly shake your head; if you do take the ship, it will be for Walpurgisnacht. Better to confront her about it then, when the situation is at hand.
"No, don't worry, I'm not here to steal Yamato away. I didn't really know what to expect, honestly."
She sighs in relief, her posture relaxing, and smiles, "Oh, that's good. I doubt I could have stopped you, but I…"
You nod, "You'd have protected what you love. That's good…"
She straightens at your words, enjoying the praise.
"...but you still need a lot more experience before you try to take on a veteran magical girl."
You raise an eyebrow at that, and she looks down, blushing slightly.
"So, what's your name, Rookie?"
The blush intensifies, as keeps her eyes firmly fastened on the ground, "U-um…my name is Ruki Shironome. Please don't laugh."
"U-um…M-m-my name is Homura Akemi. P-p-pleased to meet you."
You cross the intervening space without thinking, reach up, and place a hand on her head, giving her the kindest smile you can manage, "It's a fine name, Ruki."
You don't mention that the name fits perfectly, of course.
She looks up at you, eyes wide, "S-senpai…"
"Don't worry, Ruki. I know this is all new to you, but I'll watch out for you. Trust me."
After a moment of hesitation, she nods, "Thanks Senpai, but…why?"
You remove your hand, stepping back a bit, "Because my Senpai was there for me."
She stares at you quietly for a moment, before nodding again, "Alright, then…umm…thank you, I guess. I'm pretty much okay for now, though. One of the Military girls already taught me the basics."
You raise an eyebrow, "So there are Magi at the military base."
She nods, perking up quickly, "There are. I haven't met most of them yet, though--only Rose."
"Rose?" The name doesn't seem familiar. Odd, since the thought of Military Magi does.
"Yeah, Rose. She's a bit weird--she seemed kinda sad, when I first met her, but she perked up when I started talking about my Magic. She offered me a job with them, but I turned her down--she didn't seem bothered by it, though.
"She explained how things work, and told me to come find them--the Military girls--if I changed my mind, or wanted help with a Witch. She even offered to go hunting with me right then, but I'm still pretty nervous about fighting a Witch for real, so she gave me a Grief Seed "just in case." In case of what, I'm not really sure."
You aren't sure what to make of that. It could just be a well done recruiting pitch--a little charity, between the information and the Seed, to tempt Ruki into joining them. It could possibly be genuine kindness, though; if this "Rose" is part of a larger organization, then they might have Seeds to spare. Either way, though, you doubt they told Ruki the full story regarding Witches or Soul Gems…which is probably for the best, considering the situation.

So, perhaps she can arrange a meeting between us and her military contact?
Magical girls from the military seem like they would have quite the interest in being told about Walpurgisnacht.
And if we want to form an alliance with them against Walpurgisnacht, it's probably best to do so before we steal any weaponry from the military. Once an alliance is formed they might even be able to give us some weapons.
"Forgive me for that, but Maria insisted upon it. She can be a bit frightening, sometimes. Anyways, she's not going to be here for this one--the Territory Lord has his reasons, I'm sure."
"Now, since Homura is busy meeting with this Rookie, I have been directed to address you directly."
"This year, again, you have three special gifts to choose from. These are a bit different from last time--instead of giving Homura a perk of some sort, they'll instead offer you an important hint to the Golden Ending Homura needs."
Three candy boxes sit in front of you. Each is unique in appearance.
[ ][Candy] "First, we have a lovely cross-shaped box in black and white. The candies' flavors are strong, but I'm sure they were made with love."
[ ][Candy] "Second, we have a pale blue box, with a black spiderweb pattern. That seems to fit the holiday, but I think the candies might be fragile."
[ ][Candy] "Finally, we have a rectangular grey box, with a large black square on the lid. The candies might seem odd, at first, but you've never seen them before."
"Choose wisely! I know it might be hard to pick, but I'm not allowed to give too much detail. Instead, just know that we all want you to win, for Homura's sake. Please, whatever happens, don't give up hope! After all, she hasn't!"
"I'll see you again, although it might be a long time. Who knows?"
Hmm, I'm guessing that First box is a hint regarding the people Homura cares about (particularly Madoka), the Second box is a hint about the cracks in the boundaries between worlds, and the Third box is a hint about something Homura doesn't know about at all yet (something that might seem incomprehensible right now).
[X] Try to get to know her better.
[X] Ask her about the Yamato
[X] Ask her for help with Mechanical Engineering.
I want to do more, but I don't want to be too forward for a girl that popped up out of nowhere in where she thought she was safe. Then again, Homura's already "sempai" and resorted to Headpats(tm) so we probably are fine with whatever.
[X] Give her the "kiddie" version of why Seeds are important: Soul Gems fill with Grief, which causes mental instability and eventually death. Seeds stave off Grief corruption, but only havea limited number of charges before they're filled.
-[X] Also mention that extreme emotions can lead to Grief buildup, so it's best to try and keep calm if possible.
-[X] Just make sure she knows that the bunnycat lies, even if it says it can't; it has a quota and an agenda, and that agenda doesn't include your health or happiness.
[X] Try to get to know her better.
[X] Ask to meet this Rose, and the rest of the military group.
-[X] Offer to introduce her to your friends in return
We don't want the girl Spiraling on us, and this Rose seems to have been too circumspect with her.

Pretty sure I remember last years not really having anything to do with the PMMM girls, but rather the... The Witches. Beatrice and the like from that part of the melting pot this AU is.
I mean, we got Black+White in a Cross with candies made of Love (2 out of 3 for Kyouko granted), Spider-Webbed blue that are fragile (the only blue we have around is Sayaka, so idk), and completely unique candies in a grey box with a black square (again, doesn't really fit anyone. The closest would be Oriko or Gretchen I would think from PMMM).
[ ]"Finally, we have a rectangular grey box, with a large black square on the lid. The candies might seem odd, at first, but you've never seen them before."

There's an empty "left" alignment tag between the third option and "choose wisely". Not sure if that means something or I'm just shadowrunning. Probably just shadowrunning, but I blame you quest authors and your sneaky invisitext for my paranoia
