Renascence: A Homura Quest

Honorifics or Western-style Titles? I've used both before, which is bothersomely inconsistent

If it wasn't then Homura would just shoot the enemy bullets out of the air.

nat100 noob <<<< 100 skill
"Homura, did you just 720-no-scope-headshot seven people in different directions, all at ranges greater than 30 meters?"
"Yes."
"You have a 5-shot revolver!"
"... There wasn't anyone else I could use the fifth bullet on, though."
"*incoherent sputtering*"

Hmm ...
@Higure does Homura have ballpark estimates for Kyouko and Mami's Skills? (I'm not sure if they have Character sheets that I didn't find.) At least for Mami's Marksmanship and Research/Development/Magical Theory skills (the latter of which I suspect are fairly high, given she went from 'Ribbons' to 'Unlimited Rifle Works' relatively quickly) and Kyouko's Melee? And/or either one's Battlefield Analysis skills?

Well, on one hand, she "only" has one year of experience.

On the other hand, magic.

Really? I was kinda certain Mami was Legendary tier.
It's a guess, but it might be because what she does with her guns is also partly magic.

I think I remember Higure saying that skills are purely just what they say they are. You're raw experience and skill with a subject, not how effectively you may exploit it or use other skills to support it to much higher effective levels.

You mean this?

Where Homura shot herself though the head with a bullet and then managed to wrap a ribbon around her said shot before it stopped moving due to timestop?
Which means she accounted for the general deflection of said headshot passing though her head in addition to the general effect Mami's trying to stop her from shooting herself.
She knew where the shot was going to be in mid flight before it stopped moving and intercepted it. That's legendary tier marksmanship.

That's *perfect* marksmanship. And then Mami kept up and cornered homura while avoiding getting caught in time stop .

Homus better from sheer skill and hardhardcoreness but Mamis pretty bullshit too.

Sure, I can provide ballparks.

Mami's Marksmanship is Professional Tier, and she had to work extraordinarily hard to reach that point. She can do a lot of things an equal human marksman couldn't, of course--Meguca have massive advantages in addition to their actual skills--but she's not going to reach Legendary any time soon. For the record, Rebellion Mami would be considered Legendary, because she had all of her experience from Homura's loops to draw upon (even if she didn't have the corresponding episodic memories). Rebellion Homura was also Legendary, rather than perfect, because she only had a hundred loops or so to draw upon.

(If I previously said Mami was Legendary and have forgotten, just quote the post and I'll amend things. It's possible there was a flaw in my notes, after all.)

Mami's Development skill is Professional. Research is Journeyman. Homura's not sure about Magical Theory, because she doesn't really have much to compare Mami too.

Kyouko's Melee is only Professional, but she, again, performs above any human of equal skill.

They both have Journeyman Battlefield Analysis.

LASER TAG | Part 2
So, RL has me very busy, and I've overscheduled on Tabletop RPGs, so I haven't really been able to get much done. I WAS planning to get you guys a full update this weekend, but...that might not happen, so I'm going to drop a small section of the update, as an appetizer, of sorts. I'll try to get you guys the entree soon, though.

[X] Split into multiple teams.
-[X] Mami and you on different teams, switching Sayaka and Kyouko so that Sayaka can experience different tactics from both side.
-[X] Try to guide it so Madoka is on our team. After all, protecting her is kind of our thing and some more experience in a high-paced, yet safe setting is welcome.

You stride forward to the screen, and begin flicking through options. Part of you wants to keep everyone together--it would be a chance to encourage camaraderie and develop mutual trust--but you decide splitting up will be more practical--if you and Mami are on the same team, you'll win without much of a fight.

"Hmm...we should split up. I'd like Madoka, if you don't mind--I said I'd watch out for her safety."

Mami glances at you appraisingly, a bit of a competitive spark in her eye, "In that case, I'll take Kyouko. She knows me best."

You want to fight her on it. Sayaka would benefit from the chance to face you, and get closer with Mami, but sadly, your objections are interrupted.

"Then I'm with Homura. We'll show you what we can do!"

Her smile is infectious, and something in her eye tells you she's not going to give ground here.

You nod firmly and set things up before turning back around to face them, "Alright. Those are our teams. See you out there, Mami, Kyouko.

Mami returns your nod respectfully, while Kyouko smiles toothily, pointing dramatically, "Yeah, we will! Don't complain when you lose, Ribbons!"

You roll your eyes at that, and head towards your entrance--there are four, so players can split up. Madoka and Sayaka follow closely, guns ready, and the three of you step into the elevator.

You click the word "FIGHT" on the digital display, where older elevators would have had floor buttons, and the doors with a hiss. The elevator immediately begins moving at substantial speed, ascending numerous stories before grinding to a halt--only to begin moving horizontally, giving you a bird's eye view of the arena.

Beneath you lies a chrome labyrinth--it lit only faintly from above, but even what little visibility you have reveals something important--large portions of this arena are mirror-like, and you can see several lasers reflecting down hallways and around corners in geometric patterns as you watch.

"This is going to be different, it seems."

Next to you, Madoka stares in awe, "Oh! Look over there, Homura! Those are how we can change floors!" She points, and your gaze follows, alighting upon a large shaft, heading straight downwards.

"So that's what you were referring to."

She smiles proudly as she turns to you, "Mhm! You see, the arenas here are three dimensional! The top floor is pretty well lit, but things get darker and darker as you go down! I think the floors are transparent, too, so you can actually shoot at people from above or below, which means you'll need to watch in those directions, too!"

"You know a lot, considering you just found out about this."

She blushes, "Well, actually…I kinda already knew about it, wehihi…"

At that, Sayaka finally speaks up, turning from her inspection of the arena, "Wait, what!? I was the one who found this place!"

Madoka glances down, scratching her cheek, "Well, yeah, but I'd already studied up on it. I wasn't going to suggest it, because it's so big, but you found it anyway, and I…wehihi…"

Sayaka sighs, and flicks Madoka on the forehead, making the rosette flinch back in surprise. Leaning over the smaller girl, Sayaka then ruffles her hair, explaining, "If you wanna do something together, just say it! You don't have to just sit here and wait for us to decide something!"

Madoka backpedals to create distance, and looks up to face Sayaka directly, "But I want you all to have fun, not just do things for me all the time! Everyone tries to give me what I want, but there's no point if no one else enjoys things, so-!"

She's cut off as the doors open, and half a dozen lasers lance into the elevator.

"But we enjoy having fun with you, Madoka! We could have done this earlier!"
