It takes a while to find each potential fanatic but once they're found, each one rewards you with a steady trickle of power. You tell them that above all else they must remain hidden. It seems to you that the rich men and women who worship at your statue know you primarily as a devious god of secrets, while the common people touched by you see you as a kind god of memories. It is not a problem for you in the here and now, but you know it to be one of the great challenges for gods whose worshipers are more numerous and more spread out. When two peoples start worshiping one god in two distinct ways it creates an imbalance. And if it goes on long enough, the god may simply split. You think it's how the gods who first conquered your city fell. They claimed more territory than they could control and spawned their own opposition. It's all the more impressive that the great pantheon towering above you appears to have avoided the issue. What do they know that the gods of your time never learned?
For your part, it seems like you've committed yourself to hiding. A secret god of secrets. There is a kind of power in that. Certainly, you can tolerate obscurity better than another type of god. But how strong is your commitment to anonymity?
