Re:Birth, A MMO Story

[X] D. Spend time getting to know your group better, try to build group cohesion.

Currently our group is held together by the bond of benefits from the secret quest, but if we dont nurture these bonds while we can them it is very likely that people will flake out of the group as soon as its no longer beneficial to them, like lightning hoof would.

[X] C. Explore the town and get to know more about who is in charge and how it's organized.

The local administrator might offer special quests, information, and financial backing. I think we're charming enough to gain access.

[X] D. Spend time getting to know your group better, try to build group cohesion.

We need them to actually want to stay together after training

I want to repeat that we are not some great gamer. We don't know any information and we are pretty bad when it comes to actually doing stuff.

Our strength is in our charisma and our experience in convincing large groups of people to follow us. Creating an Adventuring group would be a complete waste of our strength - a lot of the proactive people are better at us when it comes to playing video games and our followers aren't very valuable either.

We want to look at the long term, because nothing we do in the short-term matters if we get rescued soon and in the long term we will be left behind if we try to compete with the general player base.

But it is very likely that nobody can compete with us when it comes to the political field - we are a streamer with millions of followers, which means that we have the ability to influence groups and sway minds. On the other hand the other char gen options are pro gamer, martial artist, relative of developer and rich kid, none of which are likely to have expert skill at dealing with people and this is likely to be reflected in the playerbase.

We want to use our inherent advantages, and that means convincing the people to follow our leadership. For this purpose either getting to know the local power structure for the valuable resources and authority they could provide or learning about the civilian players to be able to put them to use is the most valuable.

I am voting for local power structures because it will hopefully clear up the relationship between players and NPCs. There is no effort by local leadership to recruit these new people who will be very strong, so it's either video game logic or some sort of ban on recruiting awakened

The character sheet reverted to char gen. This post is mostly for me cus I like seeing how far we've come and how much our benefits have actually accumulated and the char sheet is being update live so if i don't do this it'll quickly become very annoying to see how we started out. Numbers go up feels good and its nice to see how exactly we have grown.

Tbf from everything the npcs have said, they heard the stories of the awakened and were expecting heroic saviours that would be a boon unto the lands. Instead they got a ton of people so scared of combat that they'd rather starve to death over and over again. The most promising of their storied "saviours", at least as far as we know, is a group of kids that while willing to train, have been described as hopeless again and again. Below the level that even normal beastkin children are as shown by how the guards commented on how horribly we were "raised" by our parents.

Why would they WANT to recruit what has been, for all intents and purposes, a ludicrously disappointing failure compared to what they expected? They were hoping for someone to fix their problems, instead they got bums that thieve and assault people.

We should focus on our own groups cohesion, so that we can form some type party to solve the issues that the town is facing, otherwise how could our words possibly carry any weight with the leadership? We are untalented and unproven hacks that have been nothing but a burden to others thus far.

Maybe they don't know it but the awakened are going to get extremely strong very quickly. If they don't recruit them while it's still cheap that means that they don't know about the potential of them.

When we have a party that can singlehandedly solve the towns problem then we won't need the help of the town leadership.

I want to convince the leadership to invest into us. We don't even need significant resources, if the leadership supports us as leader of the awakened them we can use it and the authority we get from feeding the people to get the majority of the awakened under our authority and can use that to pay back the investment of the leadership.

For both of your points we likely need proof to convince them of how powerful awakened can be and that we are worth investment. Proof that can be attained through action. We don't need to solve all of their problems, just a few to prove that awakened can be useful and our potential. We can't do that if our party falls apart before we do anything because no one likes eachother.

Also you seem to think that:

A. Hita is a leadership person. I don't think she is. Seto and satoshi are. Hita seems best suited to fulfill the role of "The heart of the party" or the reason that the band stays together.

B. Nothing will happen if we don't do it. Remember that there is a explicit mechanic for our followers to be proactive and besides fluffens and the kid, all of our current followers have +'s on that courage stat so they should be taking independent actions during our free time. Seto and Satoshi are heavily invested into the good of the community, so they will likely take actions towards that by themselves.

Also just personally, this is a trapped in an MMO story not charity work simulator. I want to do mmo type things. Advenutring parties, fighting monsters, guild building, dungeons. I want to make sure that our current party doesn't fall apart so that we can have a core group and grow it into a proper guild. I do not want to make the focus of the quest charity work for the other npcs. I don't mind some, but its our core party>>>rando players for me.

Hita is a streamer with a million followers. How is that not a leadership person?

The problem is that seto and Satoshi arent some super loyal followers. If they organise the awakened then that organisation/guild will be loyal to them, not us

But that's literally what I'm advocating for? It's just that adventuring and guild building are pretty much the opposite. At the moment the random awakened are confused and unsure about what to do. This is the easiest time to recruit people we will ever get, we will have to pry all future members from other guilds or organisations.

Being an entertainer is different from being a leader.

Which is why we use action to make them genuinely like us. They don't need to be subservient, mindless drones, they need to be friends.

what is the point in recruiting more newbs when our current group is literally already showing signs of falling apart?

The point is to get people into the group. Once the majority of the players are in our guild the pressure of that group, the benefits of an authority and loyality from having helped them will keep them in it.

We had an example of Hita using the strength of a group and her skill at social manipulation to convince lightning hoof to remain in the group in the latest threadmark.

And I'm not sure where you see the big problems in our party. Our simps are following our lead, Double S wants to create that guild as much as me and the kid is following what others tell him because he can't deal with the situation.

Lightning has - loyality and -- skill. We can afford to lose her, she is not really a special asset

[x] A. Focus on getting to know more of the players who have given up.

Specifically let Ichi-chan the scared armory priest know about the stat gains we and Fluffy received over two days, to maybe encourage her to come train with us also, or at least let us know how she and her boyfriend are doing.

We just donated a ton of food to these players who have given up. There is no better time to talk to them and follow up than now, if we want to help recruit them to train with us or ask them to help us in non-combat ways. More people is better and they can be helpful even if they don't train. There are a lot of other non combat support they can offer to us. Specifically by gathering information.

If most are just loitering around all day we could ask that some help us out in the meantime by them doing the actions that we are unable to

[ ] B. Focus on getting closer to some of the Guards.
[ ] C. Explore the town and get to know more about who is in charge and how it's organized.
[ ] D. Spend time getting to know your group better, try to build group cohesion.
[ ] E. Learn more about the troubles plaguing the town, and local monsters.
[ ] F. Spar with your fellow group members despite your Exhaustion.
[ ] G. Learn more about the Four Great Spirits from the temples.

At the very least we could ask some of those who accepted meals if they could help us by doing C, E, and G as their daily tasks while we train. They could even do more of A as well to help us learn more about others. Streamers gain influence by word of mouth. We need people to spread the word.

[X] D. Spend time getting to know your group better, try to build group cohesion.

Even if we have social up the wazoo we still need some sort of starting capital to leverage. We need to build an in-group so we can accumulate some power and wealth. The alternative is basically to go into local politics and try to leverage the power of NPCs, but as a feeble lvl 1 white tiger in a highly martial culture that path seems very difficult.

Once we have a successful adventuring party we'll likely be able to out-compete any other local player groups. That can act as the seed for a guild or allow the group to integrate into existing power structures. We don't need to be the most powerful group globally to get into the big leagues, just the strongest local power made up of players.

We should focus on wider recruitment when the in-group actually has an advantage and there have been a few occasions of charity. Otherwise we're basically trying to recruit into the in-group as equals, which would get messy.

Im not sure i have as much faith as you do in the bandwagon fallacy. Feels too much like constructing a house of cards.

Double S dont want to build a guild at the moment. They want to build a charity. It might turn into a guild eventually, but it certainly wont start as one.

Yeah lightning isnt skilled and has below average loyalty, but she does have positive courage. Anyone who is loitering around in the square at this point likely has negative courage and god knows about their loyalty. The really high value players are the one who are already out there, fighting monsters and playing the game. If we want to recruit them we need to make it more valuable to be part of our team than working solo. A bunch of useless chaff wont get us to that. We need a strong core so that we can get to yamato and recruit the people with actually useful production classes. All beastkin are banned from normal classes, which means that we need to get to yamato if we want to get actually useful noncombatant players. We wont find any here.

Also lightning hoof is special compared to anyone in the square, and becoming more so by the day. This training is already raising her above the average power level. By the time its completed she will probably be worth like 4 of the plaza losers and she will still have positive courage.

Im down to recruit noncombatants and chaff, but really only AFTER we have made sure our current group wont fall apart and i only want to recruit noncombatants if they can fill crafting and production roles, but we wont find those here. We need to resolve this starting areas quests and make it to yamato for that.

I guess we just have different expectations of MMO power levels. In my experience you need a giant advantage in power to make up for the numbers advantage.

In Albion I regularly go out with a group of people that know what they are doing, using meta item sets and with voicechats and we would still struggle figthing 4 times our numbers in random gear without coordination because it's difficult to make up for the fact that you can kill 3 times your numbers and they will still have enough damage to kill you
