First time posting a story here, or anywhere else for that matter. It's a short one shot that's been sitting in my head to write for quite a while. And yeah, I'm totally lacking a beta, so OpenOffice spell-check it is!
There was no accident, no car crash or anything, I just blinked, and from one moment to the next, I found myself no longer sitting in my comfy chair, I was instead sitting... err floating? I think? In an endless white expanse. It kind of reminded me of Truth's place from Full Metal Alchemist. Except there was a distinct lack of a door. I guess that makes sense, I'm no alchemist, so no door for me. Truth was there too, with that gigantic creepy grin of his. He... It... Whatever must have been waiting for me to notice it's presence, as the moment I did it spoke. "Well isn't this interesting. No alchemy, no human transmutation, just plain boring death."
I'll admit, I tried to scramble away, but unlike the Elric brothers, I seemed to not actually have a body to move with. Wait did it say death?
"Yes, death. You died." Spoke Truth, answering my unvoiced question "Aneurysm actually. Funny that. No matter, you can't stay here, and since you are dead well... I can't just send you back so... Ah I know." At this a large stone door faded into being. "Yes, so very nice of Ed to give me this. Have fun being whoever and wherever!"
And then the door opened, and the hands came and grabbed me. I tried to fight, to scream, to plead, to make a deal or something, but lack of body and all, don't ask me how they managed to even hold on to me considering that. Regardless, it was over all too soon, as the door slammed shut behind me, my last view of the white expanse being Truth's giant grin.
Then came chaos, but no knowledge. I guess because I didn't have anything to offer? Images flashed by, all sorts, some I thought I recognized, others... not so much. I don't know how long I spent there, flying or falling through the void, pulled along by black hands. Eventually however, the images seemed to become more focused, and it was on something I recognized. Game of Thrones? The gate must be being used in it's world-transportation function or something, from the 2003 anime.
Alright, I can deal with that right? Maybe not, I've never read the books, just watched the show. And read some fanfics. I think there's a lot of background stuff that would be really important to know that just isn't mentioned in the show.
The images focused more, individual characters, and.... ah Ramsey Snow seems to be the focus. That's... not ideal. But I think I can make do, guy had a good go, even if he was a bastard his father did legitimize him right? Did he have a true born brother? I read he did and killed him, but I don't recall if it was canon or not.
They guys also a psycho, I could avert that if I come in early enough. If later... well... I'd never understood people who got so hung up on things they had no control over. As long as that yandere girlfriend of his wasn't around. I'm not sure I could fake his normal behavior well enough to fool her.
The images stopped, there was nothing but darkness all around. Then I regained consciousness, slowly. My everything hurt. I was drowning. No, my nose was broken, blood coated my face. I opened my mouth to breath instead, and groaned. I don't want to know how they will fix a broken jaw in this day and age... I tried to move but found I couldn't, pressure on my arms... I think... I popped open an eye. Yeah, I was covered in blood, my arms were tied to the chair I sat on. A had a very bad feeling about this.
I looked up. She stood there, bars between us. Torchlight flickered around her. She was quite similar to her actress, though definitely younger. The age she was supposed to be in the source material maybe? I spoke, involuntarily, reflex. "Ah... Sansa..." I felt by tongue touch against broken teeth. My jaw screamed in pain. It was really more of a gurgle. She stared back at me, maybe her face gave away emotion of some sorts, I'd never been very good at picking up on such things. I knew how this ended, this was bad. I tried to speak again, "No... I am sorry... that wasn't me! I'm not Ramsey! Please!" But even to my own ears it sounded too garbled by pain and broken jaw to be understood. Besides, who would believe me.
I think she was planning to say something, she did have some speech in that scene didn't she. Something about disappearing. But Ramsey was already gone damn it! Maybe she changed her mind, maybe the noises I was making as I tried to plead were just too pathetic.
She said nothing.
A dog growled.
They began to emerge from the kennels, coming for me.
Sansa watched as the first hound leaped. The pain got much much worse.
