Quelana, Witch of Chaos (Dark Souls)

First: We're talking about the CU, not Quelana.

Second: Does Quelana even know about him?

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

She might of heard rumors about a being that stole some of Nitos' power and the power of death could be useful so she may follow up on the rumor.

Also Pinwheel has the power of kindling which will be very useful and we can learn about it from the people at Firelink.

No problem.

@trooperist
Has she?

If we can get Petrus to talk about his mission, yeah. We'll see what happens.

OMG QUELANA QUEST! ALL OF MY YES!

Ahem, one possible source of power to consider may well be the Abysses we know of, the Chasm in Oolacile in particular seems to be a veritable font of Humanity. Perhaps we can twig onto the possibility of the Dark Soul being the 'fuel' of the First Flame and seeing how that pans out. Because if we could figure out a way to set the Abyss on fire I think everyone useful and not crazy would be on board with that.

I'm not sure how much study that'd take though and the only way we could get to Oolacile would be to tag along with the CU when they go on their excellent adventure.
And all out plans must take the ticking clock that is the CU, an entity that is truly an unstoppable force that will at the very least kill Quelaag on the way to Anor Londo if we can't somehow intervene there.
Quelaag herself doesn't seem to be insane, given that she allows those Egg Bearers to wander around and was able to intelligently order the Fair Lady not to drink the Blightpus.

Whatever happens, simply moving again should set us on the path to gathering the power we need to take on our targets, there's a lot of nasty stuff between us and the surface now. A lot of stuff with souls we need to kill.

Glad to have you on board for the quest and hope you can contribute to it's success.

Not sure how possible it is to turn the Abysse into fuel for the first flame. The Dark Soul is split across all of Humanity so that is not an option but maybe we can use Manus' soul since he is the progenitor of Humanity.

Temporary at best, but maybe...

Maybe but Quelaag might be too aggressive to talk.

Quelaag seems to be entirely sane, judging by Engyi's and her sister's dialogue. She's actively hunting humans because her sister is only helped with lots and lots of humanity, but I can't imagine her actually going aggro on Quelana, except in a "You were alive all this time and you abandoned us!" way.

True but there's not much we can do till we go to the surface since Quelaag can take care of herself and our sickly sister so the best way to help her is to leave for the surface and meet up with the CU who is the only one that can kill her if left alone.

Sorry I meant them being Quelaag and Quelaana and the CU is the only one in who knows how long that could kill Quelaag so we want to meet the CU before they make it to Blight Town.

We can only help our sisters and family by leaving for the surface to find the means to help them return to their old forms.

So, a thought that occurs to me, would we know that Frampt is trying to trick the Chosen Undead? And, flipside, would Alvina know us? That cat knows a lot more then she says, but then there's the question of hostilities.

Also, QM, what counts as a Fire Sorcery Catalyst. I'm going to go on a limb and assume any catalyst isn't good enough.

That cat most certainly knows a lot. As to weather she and her followers are a threat I would say as long as we don't bug them they will leave us alone.

Isn't the Pryomancy Flame our version of a catalyst?

Doesn't Quelana already have an Izalith Catalyst? They were used for Flame Sorcery IIRC.

As for Frampt, we'd at least know enough that, if we wanted to, we could tell the CU that 'succeeding Gwyn' means 'setting yourself on fire'. Of course once the CU has been to Oolacile and New Londo one can make a very good argument for setting oneself on fire if it means preventing the Abyss from going wild all over the world.

I can't imagine why Alvina would be hostile to Quelana, there's no influence of demons anywhere near the gardens as far as I'm aware. If anything I'd expect hostility from Anor Londo given her part in the creation of the Bed of Chaos and the destruction of the city of Izalith, it's inhabitants and the entire discipline of Flame Sorcery.

I'd bet you that Anor Londo would still be inhabited if Izalith hadn't gone completely tits up.

Quite possible, but Gwyndolin implies that Anor Londo's decline has been going on for a while, and Dark Souls 2 confirms that Lordran is the first of a cyclical system that goes on through the ages. It may be there are still pockets of giants still alive.

While true, you have to remember that the Chosen Undead is a complete wild card here. Given Kaathe's words about the Age of Dark, I could see him/her being swayed.

I don't know if we still have it... the Character Sheet would be really handy right now. The QM earlier implied that Flame Sorceries were out of our reach due to us lacking the catalyst, but that could be me misinterpreting.

In-game, you actually get your hands on an Izalith Catalyst.

It functions as a normal spell catalyst for the player, since you yourself never learn Flame Sorcery. It does tell us that the catalyst is close enough to a normal one that you can use normal sorcery with it. So, there is a chance that a normal Sorcery catalyst could work. It's also quite a good catalyst, although not the best.

So we should try whatever catalyst we can get our hands on at least once, just to be sure. What would really help us though is an Izalith Catalyst of our own. It's the one catalyst we know for 100% sure will work on Flame Sorcery, as well as probably being the one that will be most effective at using it. The only issue with that is the only one found in-game is in the hands of one of our sisters, gone mad but still looking human. She's in the heart of Lost Izalith, right in front of the Bed of Chaos boss that is our mother. So yea...unless their is another one, won't be getting it any time soon.
