As opposed to Prometheus110's Board Game Development thread, clearly.
So I saw
this image the other day and thought that it was actually a pretty cool idea for an anti-smoking ad though it could probably be improved by turning it into a full-motion advertisement located at bus stops and on electronic billboards. I then promptly forgot about the whole thing until today when I was walking home from the gym and decided that I needed something to do before Ludum Dare 34 starts this weekend (and my mum arrives from Darwin D: ).
So I did a thing.....
I'm actually quite pleased with the script I wrote to convert ASCII art into block-placement instructions. It's not
massively applicable to things as I set everything up to make sure that this scene works and doesn't spawn 1600+ blocks as it did initially. However, with some minor edits, I could get it to a fairly good state and make it so that you can load your own custom ASCII art into it (and yes, I realise that it'll just be dicks).
You can download version 1 from
here if you want to play around with it. Be warned, there's no actual end-state for the game as I haven't programmed that in yet so if you do manage to clear all the blocks you'll have to quit the game by pressing the escape key.
