You snapped but in your darkest hour power never came to you. You'll pave your own path on the city to gain revenge for what happened. Brick by brick you will tear them down
Brockton bay, the city of dead dreams. Where I'd met the love of my life and where she'd been ripped from my hands. Memories of that last day keep flashing through my head. It had been a bright summer day. We were looking for a restaurant we'd heard about, bit in one of the worse parts of the city but surely nothing would happen to us. Then it happened.
[ ] Azn Bad Boys: Fire and death. The street was engulfed and during the panicked rush out we were caught in a crossfire. She bled out before help arrived.
[ ] Empire Eighty-Eight: We were shoved into an alley; she was the wrong color. I woke up that night with broken ribs and worse.
[ ] Merchants: A monstrosity of metal, smoke and a roaring sound raced around the corner. She wasn't lucky enough to be missed.
The days after that we're gray and difficult. Still a hope pulled me forward, a trigger event. A chance for the power to fix things or get justice. Then days turned to weeks, then months. The rage and hope faded. But didn't die. A cold fury built up, if Justice was impossible then revenge. And in this state of mind, I finally realized I had the tools I needed.
[ ] Marksmanship: Time at the range or hunting was one of your favorite pastimes. When you married her, you thought you'd need to leave it behind only to find she also loved the range. Many a day you spend aiming shots farther and farther.
[ ] Software: You had a job at one of the technical startups downtown. A wiz with signals, UI. Surprising how easily it can be to breach those systems with your experience.
[ ] Chemicals: Learning how the world around you breaks down into the smallest parts and how you can break those bonds and shift them to your advantage. As a side effect knowledge of explosives, poison and drugs but before you never delved too deeply.
Shaking off the pain of memories you looked over the city. They would pay, you would pull down their empire, brick by brick.
Skill: Marksmanship: A wiz with ballistics, able to constantly nail shots on target from considerable range
Funds $515, Untraceable funds 50$
Fame: none
Prestige: Known and liked by friends, not known outside your circles
Suspicion: 2%
Equipment:
Hunting Rifle: Semi Auto and accurate at range
Kevlar Vest: Prevents stabs and is very hidable
Backpack plate carrier: Less storage space then a normal backpack but also you won't get shot though it
Plate x1: Blocks bullets but loses effectiveness with multiple rounds.
Utility Knife: Good at cutting and not a bad weapon in a pinch
Gloves: Hides fingerprints
Rope: Rope
Burner phone: Cheap trash but more importantly expendable
Yawning I walked back inside the house. Work wasn't for a while so I had time to think. After all Rome didn't fall in a day.

John finished typing the last sheet of paper and leaned back in his seat. His eye's hurt from the glare of the screen and he swore there was a paper cut somewhere, at least now he had some time for research before finding something else to do.
He noticed an intern, probably Will walking over, guess Samuel had a message. Sam was an alright boss, he'd had to demote him to doing intern work but he hadn't fired outright like others he'd heard of.
"Will, what brings you out all the way from the office"
Will brightened up a bit before saying "Boss wanted to congratulate you, Said if you kept it up he'd get you your old job"
John had to bite back a laugh. Sam was also one of the most distant bosses he'd had to deal with. "Thank him for me I guess"
First he bought some clothes from the hand me down store, get the right scent of poverty on him that ensured he wouldn't stand out in the areas he planned on visiting, A cap obscured his hair and a set of fake glasses help distract from more recognizable parts finally a bandana for a easy way to ensure he was unrecognizable when he looked in a mirror. It wasn't likely to be notable in a crowd and had ample space for concealing things under the coat.
Looking at the final result he smiled, It would be damn hard to connect that to his normal attire.
The empire was led from on high by Kaiser. A speculated shaker with the ability to create metal objects that extend from surfaces around him. He normally dresses in a suit of armor which poses difficulties. A higher caliber would be needed to pierce the armor or maybe a way could be found to hit him out of armor
Krieg and Hookwolf were his lieutenants, Hookwolf a changer who could turn into a giant metal wolf and Krieg a brute with some kind of kinetic ability within a range around him. They seemed like easier targets however unlikely to fully topple the organization.
Then the complications, Othala had the ability to grant regeneration to allies, the potency is unknown but it increases the likeness of surviving nonfatal shots. Stormtiger's aerokinetic was able to deflect a bullet and he managed to react to that and Crusader who's ensured any attempt near him was likely a suicide mission with his ghost
Rounding out the empire's capes were Fenja and Menja bodyguards of Kaiser with Durability and size changing, Alabaster who restores his body every few seconds, Cricket with some kind of disorientation pulse and echolocation and Rune who had some level of telekinesis.

Fill spreadsheet, flip page, drink coffee, repeat. Hours flying by yet crawling, desperately clinging on to every second that passes while diving head first into the endless expanse of time. A place beyond time and space, above logic and sanity. "2,500 $ Trd WMD" Does it mean anything? Who knows, yet a faint tingling in my brain seems to recall something forgotten, could it have meant anything or was it more nonsense. A question unanswerable by mortals as it is typed down, into its place and added in filling its row. The last brick in the puzzle of madness now is to add the columns and double check debits and credits.
100$ -1% Suspicion
A soft jingle rang out as John entered his favored den of inquiry. Also known as Redtail Armaments, neatly tucked in an out of the way suburb it's a place that spread by word of mouth and it had the inventory to match. In this case he walked past the usual ammo tins and sight adjusters to the back wall where a few vests and plate carriers hung on the wall. After pursuing the section, Wick grabbed a few and carried them to the front.
[ ] Plate carrier: If your wearing this it's going to be hard to conceal but accept nothing less when the bullets start flying. - 50 $ + 1% Suspicion
[ ] Plate: What's a carrier without some bullet proof plate to carry in it. Easy to replace, able to resist anything you'll find on the streets lest it's cheating and relatively cheap. -25$ +1% Suspicion if more then 3
[ ] Backpack plate carrier: Doesn't cover as much area as a full plate vest but also you won't get looked at weirdly. Well, in places where it's not weird to carry a backpack. -50 $
[ ] Kevlar Vest: Knife proof, wouldn't test it against anything of higher power but you're not going to get shanked anytime soon. -15 $
[ ] Flare goggles: Fancy government stuff, like dragon's teeth levels of up there. Anyways automatically adjusts how much light gets through to help deal with lasers and other bright lights. Works on flash bangs as well. - 200 $
Later that week John looked at what he'd gathered. Bits and bobs from a few stores nothing that alone would reveal his plans but together proved useful.

John placed the pile of armor on the desk, the portly man sitting behind the counter reading a guns magazine looked surprised.
"Dam John, what's this about?"
John glanced around for a bit "I got jumped a few weeks ago, Some stuff to ensure it doesn't happen again"
David shook his head "This city keeps going down the hole, I'm telling you if the government stops playing around with child soldiers and actually does their job. Well I'd be out of business"
John nods "Well guess your jobs safe then"
David replies "If you want to get safe my cousin is teaching self defense classes at Weymouth Mall, Something like Kestrel dojo or what not. Work better then my gear unless you want to talk to the cops"
"Anyways that'll be 90$"
Getting the other stuff was easy, no one blinked an eye although I did make sure to get the equipment from a few different stores to avoid Suspicion.
