The school day went on without anything unusual, since there wasn't any basketball game or any karate tournament; the three sisters shared the first two periods together. The first hour they had Drawing art class. Barbara wasn't as good as her youngest sister when it came to drawing, but if she took her time she was still quite good. Karen's drawing skills where abysmal and she wouldn't even be in the art class if it wasn't because she had taken it thinking it would be 'easy' and was too proud to switch out to another class. Still she tried hard and while it took her even more time than anyone else, to the point she usually had to finish her work home, the teacher appreciated her effort.
Then it was gym class, and as usual, Karen did show off, outperforming everyone. Then to Karen's dismay, she had Math, while to Barbara's and Alice's delight, these two had Chorus class.
While Alice excelled in Art, Barbara had a beautiful singing voice, but didn't want to do a solo despite the teacher insistence, not because she was shy, but because she feared her voice would attract unwanted attention that would interfere with her studies. She also felt that becoming a famous singer would put her and her family in the spotlight, and she didn't want that.
For the third hour, Karen had Science class, with for some reason she liked, while it was her sisters turn to have Math. Then the last hour they all had Health class together since for the day it consisted in watching an educational movie and taking notes.
After the movie was over Barbara noticed certain familiar face in the crowd
"Well... here goes nothing!" Barbara thought and approached a girl about her same size that had long brown hair and blue eyes. "Excuse me, are you Robyn Snyder?"
"Yes. Why?" The girl named Robyn questioned.
"My name is Barbara Smith. I am supposed to give you a tour around the city. It is okay if you don't want to." The redhead added with a smile, but the smile was forced, for obvious reasons she felt guilty.
"Uh... okay."
"That's great!" said a blonde that sat in front of Robyn during most of the day.
"And you are?" Robyn looked at the smiling blonde. She felt there was something familiar about her, but she didn't know why, still due to her dad's job she had to move to other cities at least four times, so it wasn't weird if she had meet her before.
"My name is Alice Smith, I am Babs' sister." The blonde answered, extending her hand and ignoring her sister glare for the nickname she had just given her "Do you mind if I tag along?"
"No, it is alright, I guess." Robyn shook Alice hand. "But, can we leave this tour thing for later? I have to go home now."
"It's alright. Can you do it this afternoon?" Barbara asked.
"I guess? I am free after 4:30 PM, I..." Robyn said nervously. Now she was felling that she also knew Barbara from somewhere. But if she was Alice's sister, it kind of made sense, right?
"You live a few blocks away from our house, that's why they asked me to be your guide. Will this be okay with your parents?"
"Yes, in fact they will probably insist." Robyn's parents always wanted her to make friends, but after what happened five years ago, Robyn didn't want friends. Sure there were some people she was friendlier with than others, and the people she chatted online with all the time. But none of them were close. None of them were what she would call a true friend.
"Okay, see you later then." Barbara said and left, her blond sister following after her. Robyn noticed a black haired girl, the one that had shown off during gym class, giving her a glare, then leaving after the two other girls. What had been that about?
Well, she could always ask about those weird girls later, now she had to catch the school bus or she would be forced to walk home.

After the Smith sisters arrived home, it was Karen's turn to make lunch, which meant meat. Also their father was still at work, so it was just the three of them.
"Uh, can't I have tofu instead?" Alice pleaded, but she wasn't being serious.
"No way, meat helps you to become stronger; all predators eat meat after all." Karen said as she was cooking low fat hamburgers. They were only low fat because their father had insisted.
"And is there any reason why you want us to become stronger?" Barbara asked. She had noticed her middle sister had been acting weirder than usual.
"Well, you are the smart one; what do you think?" Karen said in a mocking tone.
"Is there something you want to talk about?" Barbara wasn't liking the tone her middle sister was using.
"Yes. And since dad isn't here, what better chance than the present?" Karen said "Me and blondie here... have been having nightmares."
"What kind of nightmares?"
"Well you see..." Karen then started to explain about her and Alice nightmares.
Barbara then looked down the ground. "So, it's not just me..."
"What do you mean?" Alice asked, just then the hamburgers were ready. So they continued their talk during lunch. Since their father still had not arrived, the drinks consisted of Karen especial blend of orange juice, orange soda and a lot of sugar.
"I haven't been having nightmares like you two. In my case, it is more like I constantly dream about our past life, before... before the accident." Part of the girls' cover story was that they had been in Townsville during the battle, but they were just civilians who got injured. That was so they could talk about the event without revealing who they really were, as long as they picked their words carefully.
"So... maybe it means something? Like a warning?" Karen asked. Of the three of them, she was the more paranoid about their past coming back to haunt them.
"I don't know." Barbara replied honestly. "I've had those dreams once in a while, but now they happen every night."
"Then we should be careful at least." Alice stated. Then she looked at Karen "And don't think about shadowing us when we give Robyn the tour! We don't want to scare her!"
"Alright, it's not like I think she, herself, is dangerous, but..." Karen felt somewhat ashamed of herself. Robyn didn't deserve to be treated like an enemy.
"She could be an unwilling pawn in part of some conspiracy and blah blah blah." Alice said annoyed.
Barbara blinked surprised, then blinked again. "How come you know each other so much?"
"Do you really want to know?" Alice asked with a grin.
"Yes, please?"
"Well... that's... a secret." Alice said imitating a certain demon from a famous anime.
Barbara face-faulted. "Since when did you become the funny one?"
"Life is just too short to take it seriously all the time. Besides I am an artist, better have a sense of humor than being one of those artists that are depressed all the time and hate themselves, right?"
"So... you've been hiding all this from me... for how long?" Barbara felt angry that her sisters had been keeping secrets from her.
"Well, we just didn't want you to get more worried than you already were." Karen defended. "And it has only been a few months. And since we are revealing things, I don't really mind wearing dresses or skirts anymore, but I prefer not to."
"And you go to my room every time you want to talk about your feelings." Alice said as if she didn't care about making Karen angry.
"Yes, I do. So what? As long as it's just the three of us that know, I don't mind." Karen said. Then she looked around with a panicked expression, fearing someone else was listening.
"Okay, who are you and what did you do with my tomboy sister?" Barbara questioned amused.
"Oh, make fun of me, will you? At least I didn't cry when I got an exam with a score of 95!" Karen teased.
"You know that?" Barbara sounded more worried than she should be at hearing that.
"All of us knew; we just gave you time and space, as talking about it would just have made you overreact." Alice replied with a smile. "Anyway I got enough dirt on you two to make you the laughing stocks of all of Dullsville. So let's cut it and get serious, okay?" Alice then stopped smiling, that scared her two older sisters.
"Sorry." Both Karen and Barbara apologized in unison. Both of them surprised at how manipulative Alice could be if she wanted.
"So, ideas?" Alice asked.
"I suggest training after you two are done giving Robyn the tour. We haven't trained since summer ended after all."
"Sounds good, what do you say Babs?" Alice was now back to her usual friendly behavior.
"I like that idea." Barbara agreed. "Now let's finish lunch before it gets cold!"
