All magical things are more likely to happen when the Chaos moon is in the sky, the Colleges of magic have rites then, dangerous ones yes, but they do. I would say Smoge but steam is not as bad but if it is tainted (by mundane or magical) it can be much more dangerous.

It was not even from Grodi, it was from a female wizard who is possibly Grodi's lover...wait...I realized it was written "slender arm". . .so it could be either a human female (which I see as more possible) or a female Elgi which then...WTF GRODI?!
