Powder, Gears, and Blessed Steam - A WHF Engineering Quest

Nah, I actually updated the actions list to include a tools purchase one for you all. They're bulky but bulky in the "I need a second bag" kind of way not "I need an entire carriage for them" way.
Will they (or better quality/large-scale equipment) give any mechanical benefits aside from unlocking the ability to work more complex tasks?

By themselves no, once you get a space and setup a workshop though the two together will start giving you bonuses.

Could we queue up a flintlock crafting action in the same turn where we buy tools, or we'll be forced to wait until the next turn?
Would need to wait for next turn.

OK, in light of this I say we hold off on doing any research for now, grab the tools, head to Ostland, and then either make some more matchlocks for sale or really grind our exercise.

I agree. The research will become relevant if we have a stable foundation and we don't need to worry about being killed. And I guess Ostalnd is the best because they ned help with repairing guns and we have quick way to get some money.

I mean, Ostland always needs more guns. The Forest of Shadows makes up a good chunk of the province and you need good and plentiful weapons to deal with the giant spiders, Chaos raiders/warbrands, beastmen herds and other such monsters that infest it.

Apropos of nothing, we prolly should learn to Shoot The Gun.

As soon as we could afford, anyway. Bullets are money.

Yeah, finding a job maintaining guns and stuff in Altdorf is dc1 action, apparently. In Ostland, it might just be an auto-success, lol.

We can be a mercenary for a little bit to get funds to start up because things are going to cost us to set up and we won't have money when we move to any place because we have no income. So we need some money first before moving and we can just hitch up with mercy for a job or two.

Edit: maybe Border Princes might be a good idea. We just support one and let him or her unify all the others. If it works then it will be a huge payout. We still get pain anyways and more freedom.

Though we're probably going to have to focus on flintlocks and various blunderbuss-type guns. Because it's noted that Ostland tends to be rather misty/foggy/rainy/damp which causes large problems for matchlocks. Also they're often dealing with monsters near or in the Forest of Shadows (very dense woods with poor visibility etc) meaning weapons of the shotgun mentality are king.

Hmmm...that actually sounds familiar and I don't know why. Either way, what are the chances of being blessed by the Dwarven god of Engineering?

Fairly sure that said chances are non-existant. From what I understand the Dwarven Ancestor Gods don't really give out 'blessings' as it were; instead they are ancient paragons that laid down the laws for how the Dawi live their lives. There are Runes associated with each that Rune-smiths can inscribe but as human we are SoL in regards to getting any unless we pull some Freddy-tier BS.

Also they would only ever put Runes on Dwarf craft as human creations are too inherently shoddy and poorly made. Requesting that Runes be on them would be a towering insult to the Runesmith and Dwarves in general.

True. Nobody beats Freddie with his BS.

Right voting is a-go.

[X] Plan: Bullheaded
-[X] Fixing Guns all the way to Ostland
-[X] Acquire a proper set of tools
-[X] Physical Training x2

Saving all our money aside from the tools so that when we get to Ostland we can afford accommodations and materials to start building guns to sell.

[] Follow Me to the Motherland - A Kislevite ran caravan intends to leave this month heading for the city of Kislev and they've offered a place among their caravan for a handful of coin. It promises to be a long journey with the better part of nearly two months on the road or rivers between there and Altdorf.
Can only be taken this turn.
Note that last bit: "can only be taken this turn"

Therefore I would strongly advise doing this if we plan to go to Kislev eventually, since the next opportunity is unknown.

Going to Kislev right now is foolhardy. The 'only taken this turn' aspect is presumably a discount in terms of wealth required or the danger involved.

Nothing prevents us from going there in the future when we have more wealth to our name. Hell, Ostland borders Kislev so if and when we decide to move again, it would be a shorter trip.

What's our long term plans with our tech btw. Branch out into better manufacturing and industrial organization or stick with proper fantasy mad scientist where we make some functional but very rare and not transferable steam shenanigans?
