5.3 Swarm Badge Pt. 1
Hello everyone, here is the newest update, including the Gym fight in Treader Town. Had to split it up because the number of images was slightly above the limit though. I hope you enjoy it^^

Welcome back in Treader Town! Let's take a look at how the people deal with addiction here!

Alright, but I don't have any coins yet.

Ahhh! I am sorry, please let go of my arm, ouch ouch!

After I manage to escape this dangerous lady, I avoid her quite a bit. Next we walk past an.. police officer. Who actually says that he really shouldn't be here, but he is so addicted. A hiker to the left says that his wife and daughter have left him and he has fallen into alcoholism, but the addiction is still keeping hold of him!

Whelp, good job Zeta devs now you went from dark and edgy into outright depressing territory. Let's see, further to the right is.. a team Asgard grunt? When I walk up to him, he screams at me that I cannot tell anyone that I saw him here. Then tries to bribe me with.. what is that?

A card? What, is it for that card game I have already mostly forgotten about? Oh whatever, let's see what they sell here!

Alright, let's see, you can exchange Coins for TMs and various rare Pokemon. Abra, Clefairy, Dratini, Scyther and Porygon.

I am not sure why Abra is there except that it has been there in the main games. It isn't really that rare, just a bit annoying to catch. I don't believe I have seen a Clefairy so far, neither any of the others. Though I THINK Dratini is a super-rare find in the Safari-Zone knockoff?

Regardless, I buy some fifty odd coins and then spend the next few minutes just gambling at the slot machines. I end up with around 75 coins by the end of it, even though I naturally haven't played these things since forever. I wonder whether there are people out there that can consistently get the highest cash-out on these things?

Still it doesn't look like I am going to get the Coins for a Dratini, or any other rare Pokemon or TMs for that matter. A shame, but I have better things to do than spend forever grinding this. It would probably be more efficient to refight the E4 and just buy coins later on anyway.

Instead, let's do what we actually came here to do!

Pictured here is the Treader Town Gym. I have already heard from a number of residents that the gym leader uses Bug type Pokemon so I am prepared. Richard the Rapidash and Sakura the Staraptor will eat them for breakfast! Possibly literally in the latter's case. Still, it is only polite to talk with the good fellow at the entrance. Hello good sir, do you have any good information on this Gym?

"Welcome to the Treader Town Bug Gym! In many other regions, Bug-types are considered weak, but sure as heck not here!"

These guys probably have never seen a Volcarona, Heracross, Vespiquen or Armaldo.

"The leader, Avery, is known for strategic use of status ailments as well as strong Pokemon!"

Well I would be rather confused if he was known for weak Pokemon.

"If you want to beat him, take advantage of Bug's weaknesses: Flying, Fire and Rock types!"

With that said, he turns back to stare at the entrance and leaves us to do our things. Well then, onwards to victory!

First we move to the right and discover a sign of some sort? I go further and..

It is a puzzle!

I HATE PUZZLES!

Alright, that may be a bit extreme, but seriously I never seem to make these sorts of things work. Same with these tricky "find the pattern in this seemingly random series of scribbles" things. I hate these with a passion and always feel so dumb whenever I fail to solve them for ages. Also, I really don't feel like spending time scrambling around and trying to get the right solution.. Screw it, I will cheat using the wiki! Otherwise we will still be here next year given my speed.

But first, let us do something that is actually fun, like beating up kids for their lunch money!

Hello Vinnie, I hope you got some Pokedollars on hand, because I won't let you get away with some coins.

He sends out a Volbeat, a Pokemon that I am pretty sure is absolutely lousy even by Bug standards. *Checks internet* Yep, the only thing it can do is Baton pass buffs to something that is actually worth using. After my starter drowns it, he sends out an Illumise as expected. Which then gets burnt down by Richard.

Whelp, looks like the trainers are not up to the standards of the Gym Leader yet.

This continues and we set a ton of bugs on fire. It appears that none of the normal trainers in this Gym have any sort of counters to fire or flying types at all. The various puzzles take longer than beating any of the trainers. Finally I reach the last puzzle before the Gym leader. This one has two versions. The left one lets you rotate the tile of your choice, plus any adjoining ones. The right lets you make it switch place with a adjoining piece instead.

The game quickly informs me that the right one is easier and so I decide for that one.

This took a surprising amount of effort, even with a complete picture right next to me. Regardless. This is done and we are finally meeting the person we came here to meet!

"to earn the Swarm Badge?"

Actually, I was just planning to set this place and fire and leave nothing but ashes behind.

"What?"

It is called black humour.

"Oh, whatever. Let's get on with it. No time to waste!

This guy.. looks really chill. I can almost feel relaxed just looking at him.

Yeah, super calm. Alright, let's show him how to heat things up!

5.35 Swarm Badge Pt. 2
Treader Town Gym Battle Part 2

Shit, it is the Zombie crab, quick kill it with fire!

Wait what? That wasn't part of the plan! That was absolutely not part of the plan.

No, I was wrong. That was all planned in detail and this is my genius at work. Fear me and my incredible foresight. The next challenger appears and..

I am not totally up to date when it comes to the Pokemon after Generation 3, but this really looks like a Bug/Steel type Pokemon. If so, this guy is doomed. Richard uses Fire Blast.. but misses! The enemy meanwhile uses Iron Head, a Steel move that isn't very effective. It also loses some of its health because of a Life Orb.

It looks like this chill guy has some serious pro-tricks up his sleeves. I attack again and this time Richard's Fire Blast hits and turns the Knight Bug into cinder.

Next is a Scizor and.. derp I mixed up Scizor and Scyther and switched Sakura in without knowing it is a Steel type. Steel resists Flying, doesn't it? So much for knowing stuff up to Gen 3. Eh, fighting should work? Close Combat, give it a try!

Wait what? Scizor transformed into.. Mega Scizor. I am not sure what the difference here is stat wise, but the Bullet Punch it shoots out does hurt a good bit. And Sakura's Close Combat does almost no damage. I guess that is the high defense stat of a Steel Type getting into the way.

I switch over to Richard and then set the next bug on fire. Fortunate that Richard turned out to be faster too because the Scizor took the chance to use Swords Dance to buff up its power. Next up Avery sends out a.. Volcarona? Okay, that means Fire and Bug typing. I don't have anything with a Rock type attack, so instead it is Kurt going out.

The fire-moth takes a Hydro Pump to the face and goes down.

The next opponent is a Shedninja and...

I am pretty sure you all know what is going to happen here.

But the bug survives an Aerial Ace through the power of a Focus Sash!

Then proceeds to hit Sakura with a X-Scissor, which does approximately 15 hitpoints of damage. I guess it is possible that most of its other attacks are Ghost type or wouldn't get stab, but still seriously? The next attack takes it out of the fight immediately.

Finally Avery sends out his final Pokemon, a Ninjask this time.

Why do Gym Leaders never understand that being on your last Pokemon while you haven't KO'ed a single one from your opponent is a bad thing?

Just.. just take it down Sakura.

Of course that is just when the Ninjask decides to use Protect, naturally!

"I've barely ever lost, and wow, I'm glad I lost in such an exciting battle."

You.. you don't get to fight with many people, do you? I understand, it is a bit of a pain to get here and all that. But maybe.. maybe go out and try to fight with some people in your weight range in the future? On the other hand, if that was exciting for you I worry what sort of heart attack an even battle would produce.

"Take this: you deserve it!"

Oh, free stuff great!

Oh, I thought it was going to be a TM, but it was just the Gym Badge. Apparently this particular one allows me to use Waterfall outside battle. Of course just when I start to feel disappointed Avery goes and gives me a TM anyway. It is #81 X-Scissor.

"I think that if you worked hard, you could beat the Elite Four! By beating me, you've shown that you know how to use strategy in your battles."

Why thank you, but I really just showed that I tend to overlevel and that you totally suck at preparing counters to your team's weaknesses. May I suggest Crustle to counter Fire and Flying types? A Galvalunta could also work to murder Flying types in specific.

"Ahem! The next two Gym Leaders will measure your bonds to your Pokemon and your quick-thinking abilities. Beat them and you'll gain passageway to the Elite Four."

I already met one of the E4 earlier, couldn't I have just challenged her back then?

"Now, best of luck! It's time for you to be off!"

Wait, I am not in a hurry. We can talk, are you trying to get rid of me?

And with this we have six badges! Just a little more and we can challenge the Elite 4 legitimately. Though I expect plot to get in our way before that can happen. Regardless, thanks for your time and see you again on Let's Play Pokemon Zeta!

Alright, this Let's Play has been in Limbo for more than half a year and I am not sure when I will get back to it. Now, I have been wanting to do something related to Pokemon again, but couldn't really get the motivation to continue here going. Instead I started a Let's Play of Pokemon Insurgence. If anyone is interested, feel free to take a look, I am currently at the starter choice and put up a poll to see which people want me to take.

Please don't tell Behemoth though, I don't want to be eaten.

Also, it is a Nuzlocke so expect tears and dead Pokemon.

Thanks for reading everyone, have a nice day.
