I have. It's a story with themes crafted around choosing to not pursue power, but it also plays into the "hidden badass" trope to some degree. The failed disciple never leaves the Sect to put the pursuit of power truly behind her by leaving that environment. In fact, a core component of the quest seems like it should involve Sect politics (or at least meeting unreasonable demands placed by the Young Master), and the other options don't really engage in that anywhere near as well as the Old does.
While true that beware of chicken in some part inspired it, it was more in the sense that I realized that I can and probably should focus on the mortals and not the cultivators for this quest and less from the general themes of it.
Other than that, I can confirm that sect politics are going to be a thing. Which considering the title should really go without saying.
