Oh hell no! Redshore is going to contain our grand docks. We wont turn a city that contains an important megaproject into a free city. We will soon have plenty of less important cities for that.

I'm against any war of aggression, to be honest - I'd rather not ditch the policy that made us king of the hill in the first place

Eh, why not. It'll be fun, and we can always declare war on them when we don't have a Poor Martial king.

Don't you remember the highschool omake? And there are a lot more that haven't been threadmarked.
Listen man, AN is writing the very history of a civilization for your entertainment, topping out at over 6000 words in 24 hours, and you're complaining because he missed threadmarking some of the over 92500 posts? Chill out.

I'm against any war of aggression, and would really like to just fix our shitty infrastructure and grow some forests instead of ignoring them so we could stab the other guy.

Especially our roads. They're just shitty and bad for visitors and so.

I did forget the EE from aqueducts, although I think I need to adjust their payout somewhat. The issue is that I want to have them represent being able to build tighter without problems, thus reducing a city's sprawl so you can open up more farmland that might have to be used for housing. The payout scheme doesn't seem quite right from what I am now looking at however. The True City possibility has become a major point for it, although I do also want to make large numbers of True Cities difficult to do.

Also, on the whole "inviting the lessers is insulting" thing, it would be told to the Khemetri

"The two of us, we're the ones who can train and send large numbers of competitors most easily. They might win a few events, but the two of us will show off how awesome we are the best and they'll all be able to see and go tell everyone back home how awesome we are."

Yay! Go smuggity smugness! All hail the Smug Cabal!

We shall drown the lowlands in hubris!

Come brother. We must ride!

On another note, I'm glad it's looking like the Khemetri and Ymaryn are going to be properly friends! It's like we met, fought a little, and now we're going to be inseparable!
Together again, for the very first time!

Warning For Marginal Behavior
Are we not allowed to change our opinions anymore?
Going "I'll do this" and then later deciding "Nah, I got mine and don't care now" is literally the definition of untrustworthiness. And the reason we have contract lawyers. And the thought process that lead to things like the Trail of Tears. Wonderful company you're keeping.

Can we talk about this whole Shadow King business?
My personal theory is that the Shadow King is actually a hostile espionage ring operated by the Highland Kingdom and it was set up back when they got their intrigue hero.

Well, there's already a degree of "rubber band AI". Like your neighbours aren't going to go from being lapped to 1st place in a single turn to keep things competitive, but the further you pull ahead the further you pull everyone else ahead. I am going with the idea that your early discovery of iron and subsequent advancements while still being a relatively peaceful and trade friendly civilization massively accelerated the adoption of bronze, such that despite the fact that you should be in the early to mid Bronze Age, many of your peers are closer to the Late Bronze Age in development. You introducing the Trelli to currency also means that it has spread to their trade partners, so that is also a major social advancement. The Metal Workers were inspired by your iron to develop it themselves and the Highlanders also used their Heroic Intrigue king to steal it directly (fun fact, that was actually an opportunistic accident to something else they were doing). The Khemetri also obviously picked up a number of tactical innovations from you, and the Thunder Horse will do the same.

So I've already been applying a number of 'soft' difficulty increases, I just realized that there were a few areas I was ignoring so by giving a few simple changes I could adjust them.

@Academia Nut Purely out of curiosity, if and when we develop the navigational capability to navigate out into the mediterranean and the around Europe, would the Ymaryn be able to detect their relationship with the proto-Lusitani, proto-Gauls, and proto-Celts? Assuming such people even still existed ITTL, and haven't been replaced by some other branch of PIE (or, maybe be pre-PIE people, such as the ancestors of the Basque).

I like how you've directly compared "I don't want to conquer people" to "This is as bad as attempted genocide".

I personally believe the Highlanders highjacked our spy network using their Heroic Intrigue king, after all, obtaining Iron was a side benefit of their true objective
