But at this age, people live and work in the same place, meaning that each part of the city has a mixed number jobs(excluding tanners and other jobs that are segregated) , making it hard to to just group areas by craft. And that's not counting peddlers, merchants, clerks artists and others who live and work in separate places.
Sorry if what I said sounded kinda dumb. You have a point in in that people who are not a part of the Guild work doing things with the guild, so I'm not actually sure how we would properly administer all the people in Valleyhome.

Godspeed, Desdydyn.

Fuck indeed, good words Desdydyn.

While y'all figure out what's smart to vote for action wise, I'll try to do some in depth analysis for once.

Looks like our values and the Trelli's are pretty incompatible in a war scenario. These mercs are used to fucking up everything in their path and selling any prisoners they take. Doesn't look like it meshes too well with the near hippie style raiding our people do.

The Txolla had this same sort of problem when we fought side by side with them, but I suppose their history as a vassel meant that they were more willing to roll with our fighting style than these merc cutthroats are. Hopefully the Trell mercs will start working with us, their employer, aka the group that's choosing to pay them, more easily after spending more time with us, because if their attitude doesn't improve soon I say we should drop their asses. since the wealth will be more valuable than the big Martial score and we could actually fight properly without the dead weight. It's not about the size of our army, it's about how we use it.

Speaking of size, looks like the Khem are zerging with infantry. If I had to hedge a guess, a lot of these folks are either lower class or slaves. I don't know how much loyalty they have to their god-king, but if possible I'd love to sway them away from the Khem and take them in as refugees.

Elite scout unit, like ours! I love that they can just use their natural skin color as camoflauge, that's super cool. We don't know if they've developed their scouts into spies or police or anything like we like to think we've done with our Blackbirds, but at least we know on the battlefield that we match them tit for tat in this case.

It says a lot about the Khem's wealth that they've been able to outfit their army with as much bronze as they have. This is representative of a huge amount of wealth and resources that they've invested into straight up fighting. Wouldn't be surprised if they had some sort on honor trait to help them field this level of arsenal. Hopefully we're currently fighting the main body of their army and they don't have anything else hidden up their sleeve. Otherwise we might be fucked unless we fall back and turtle.

Elite unit alert! Looks like the Khem made some wicked big strides in armorsmithing, these dudes sound like bronze aged juggernauts. Likely slow because heavier armor, but hard to stop.

Annnnnd we developed a good counter to their juggernauts, just in time. To whoever made the case for a size upgrade last vote: I love you. That was a very good decision.

Highlanders = bears confirmed. At least we know their crest now, though I'm sure it'll change after their next civil war.

The Highlanders have had iron samples from us for fucking ages, from back during our lone red martial + negative stability incident I believe. This has been building for awhile, I'm honestly surprised it's taken this long for something like this to happen. Kind of upsetting that the secret potentially came from one of our bits (us, Gulvalley, or Txolla are the most likely because didn't), but c'est la vie. Iron wasn't going to stay secret forever. At least we were able to find this out. AN's probably been waiting a good while to lay this twist on us, I can just hear the cackling. Bravo on the long game AN, I feel like you're doing a phenomenal job keeping track of the consequences of our actions. ^u^

As for what we can do about HK having iron, other than sending a Trade Mission/Salt Gift the Highlander's way to either bribe or threaten them into silence, I'm not sure. Any other ideas?

Historically, slave soldiers were very high in the social ladder of empires that employed slave armies. And they tended to be quite loyal to the crown if not the person wearing it. Its impossible to make them switch sides, and we have no wear near the intel on thier society to convince them that the crown looks better on someone else's head.

If this actually gets us steel then that is a very good thing that we're doing it with the Arsenal with all these leaks maybe only the Palace should ever have steel. as hopefully will be easier to keep it secret there.

Actually, here's my vote:

[X] [Main] Aqueduct - Redshore (1/6)
[X] [Secondary] Study Metal
[X] [Secondary] Support Artisans

This is "Trust in the AI". We currently have 2 passive Infrastructure policies running (one manual, one from The Law). They can build two Arsenals without needing to pay any of the costs.

In comparison, the infrastructure policies are really bad at building Aqueducts. They started building one, and they are likely to want to complete it. This will take them two turns, which is far too much.

Assuming the AI isn't stupid, this will:
cost -5 econ (giving +2 EE, then +4 from completion) and finish the Aqueduct
Complete at least 1 arsenal for free and likely 2.

In comparison, [Main] Build Annex - Arsenal will
cost -4 econ and -4 Culture (giving us +2 EE) to build 2 Arsenals
Build 2/6 more of the Aqueduct, to 3/6 total

Thank you so much Sugnez!

I'll lay my responses down in order.

On the Trelli mercs and ours. Yep, looks like a simple case of war doctrine difference. I'm not sure about dropping them, since we can feed them into the Valley Woodchipper, but ehn them being with us means they are not with the Khem and I have a suspiscion that they would do better with the Khem. If they start to really wear the Phallus Crown we can drop them.

Zerging Khem infantry, I think I agree. I actually vaguely recall that some variation of what you are thinking is how Ancient Egypt used to do it.

The elite scouts I don't got much to mention except a speculation they may be a sub state.

Ubiquitous bronze equipment would be interesting if it came from an honor value like Best of the Best. As to them having things up their sleeves I think what is going on is colonial forces bashing heads, because remember we haven't actually sent out the province war missions yet, and do that next update. So I think next update we will have a case where our provincial war missions meet their main body war missions. How that will turn out I don't know.

The person you need to kiss for size is veekie if I remember correctly. I really like that it helped too.

You know, that fiasco is actually a really really good alternate route for them to get iron. In fact I seem to recall tales of them not giving us back some of our warriors weapons so this makes sense.

New Trails - There are many settlements with only marginal trails, so more could be useful. 2/3 to next Centralization cap increase (5/14)
* S: -1 Econ, +1 Centralization, +1 Diplo, other effects
* M: -2 Econ, +2 Centralization, +2 Diplo, other effects

Go for the practical +1 centralization and +1 centralization cap option! We are in dire need of better road for moving everything and everyone.

Not really, the major reason we hired them was to stop the Khemetri from doing so. Ultimately we don't care much what they do so long as they aren't working for the Khemetri. In the meantime they're useful for padding the army, and depending on how they recruit we might actually end up turning them after keeping them for a long time due to generational turnover.

On an unrelated note :

"power is unnecessary, bronze is rare, it would be overkill" said the two legs.

And so the bleats of the Flock were dismissed, and the two legs built large devices to compensate for thier lack of wool.

We should Ave grabbed the free infrastructure instead of defensive.

While apparently rare, there were tales of heavily armoured nobles who were clad in bronze thick enough to bounce arrows off of. The decision to look into making oversized bows that required two people to span but could be fired by a single person was apparently paying off in a few cases there.
"power is unnecessary, bronze is rare, it would be overkill" said the two legs.

And so the bleats of the Flock were dismissed, and the two legs built large devices to compensate for thier lack of wool.
Apparently the fact that we have the large bolt launchers is helping in that instance.

Well, given that someone got this intelligence to you, its entirely possible that the Shadow King is on your side. They honestly have no idea, but given that they haven't been detected, the Blackbirds almost certainly are fundamentally compromised. If the Shadow King does exist, and this isn't just all externally driven rather than internal corruption.
...its kind of nice that our criminal underworld network is willing to pass national security concerns up to the central command, even if its dangerous to have them

Symphony at work?
I know there will be arguments about if 5% is enough, which I kinda agree with, but you are going for this beacuse any amount of improvement is better than none? I can understand that one quite well and agree with the reasoning.
We had 40% towers .
On integrating Hatvalley we went to 30%.

Ergo Hatvalley is 10% of our land and has no towers.
Towers would enhance our reaction time to any Highlander or Khemtri nonsense.

Depending on what group of people are part of the Spy Network the arsenal could make it easier to steal information, because all of our prototypes and artisans would be situated right next to the King's Library, where all the information behind the inventions are likely stored. If the spy network includes our elites, an influential blacksmith could learn how to make steel and spread it pretty easily.
Also easier to catch them if the info is single source

Ehhh... a lot of the advisors think that the king's efforts might be best spent working out new magic for the People to use to their advantage rather than organizing more war efforts, where he pretty much has to delegate and doesn't really know who is a good person to delegate to, and the best guy to ask is at the front.

Alright, hail science!

That's really sketchy and I don't expect it to have much support unless the Trelli become extra dickish. My preference and prediction is that the Trelli and the HK will give us plenty of reasons to go punch them flat.

I love the image of trapping the HK between us and Txolla-chan. Don't like getting double teamed do yah Highlander-kun?
Historically someone would start for us yeah
Which is kinda what I meant by "decent admin". Creed was not as good at admin as a normal King if I recall correctly but was still a fucking genius.

There's probably a component of Heroic Martial that kinda makes up for poor admin skills.

Also a thing to note about Phygrif, is that as a Nomad he probably had a lot of experience with feeding and marching a horde as built in cultural knowledge.

But yes I think we need AN to clarify.
Note he was very good ONLY at the army itself and left our backline undermanned, so...he's good at horde logistics only
Grrr.

Does anyone have an up-to-date strategic map?

How did the not!Egyptians even reach us anyways?
They'd have to cross alot of desert to even reach not!Israel.
Boat
I know, but I find it hard to believe that a city can be administered without parceling it out into smaller adminstrive units.
The units are just by career instead
Annnnnd we developed a good counter to their juggernauts, just in time. To whoever made the case for a size upgrade last vote: I love you. That was a very good decision.
I did say they are great armor breakers

It was a bigger surprise we kept it secret this long

Trails start looking very attractive, but barring any disasters, we can probably Double Main them next turn.

Or at least 1 Main 2 Secondaries. Which would really help the road situation

Golden Age seems AFAIK pretty likely right now. We'd need to suffer some amazing damage to not have it.

Even better if we enter it right alongside the Heroic Study Action in the Royal Arsenal with our Early Iron Bringers Legacy.

@Academia Nut

What does the current Heir look like? Anything noteworthy?

What action would be most useful in getting true cavalry? (Increase size of horses and numbers)

It was a bigger surprise we kept it secret this long
~400 years is an impressive track record and surpasses RL if I recall. Distinctly impressive in my mind.
