Actually is it not Stone Age Law that we have? The root problem isn't corruption, it is the nature of having a strongly normative culture with bronze age enforcement methods and education.

Oh yeah.Rush to the law so that we fix the issue of corruption and tackle the matter of half-exiles. The sad thing is that Nahachaphuria is not going to be getting any help since this will take generations to fix.
This isn't a matter of the newcomer breaking the law, it's a matter of all the people around her breaking the law.
Not only that but we have significantly higher Centralization cap than before. Some people have a pathological fear of raising Centralization (and there have been times when doing so would've been very bad) but now there's literally no danger at all from Enforce Justice.Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't propagating a colony also reduce centralization?
Because if so, we could propagate hatvalley and enforce justice without any worries.
New Settlement doesn't reduce Centralization until we get a new province (needs 2 mains)We could do the same with the settlement. Both of those actions reduce centralization. Alternatively, we do both and next turn we could main EJ.
Gaining Hatvalley province gives us +1 cap to all our stats. (Possibly +2 from the increased size of provinces?)I'm not clear, does the currently leading vote (Census/Cataracts/Havalley) address our crazy martial at all?
I am highlighting the part that is incorrect.Enforcing justice helps narratively in that it stops the people doing illegal shit that should know better from doing said illegal shit.
When? What did she do to break the law first? She broke the law first to get in this situation, the problem is systemic not symptomatic and thus demands a systemic solution.
You're a few thousand years too early for that. Even the most benevolent factions at this time just couldn't afford what you are suggesting for so many people. What refugees like her need is education and mental health care. She was shoved into Ymaryn life without any idea how to act, and the communal nature of the society means that those who don't act right are subject to strong pressure to shape up.
Unfortunately, if an individual doesn't already know what the right way is, they'll be shoved into the margins of the culture.
Hmm. I think we got the -1 legitimacy in exchange for a guarantee of not actually losing overall stability by the end of the action. The action still works the same way otherwise. At the time, I'm pretty sure that Legitimacy/Stability were rolled together. Now that they are separate we are suffering the damage to Legitimacy, not Stability.
Pretty sure it doesn't.I'm not clear, does the currently leading vote (Census/Cataracts/Havalley) address our crazy martial at all?
Effects of the Governor's Palace.Governor's Palace - Every palace lowers Min. Centralization by 1 and can decrease communication issues with distant provinces, but can also serve as the core of a breakaway state in a civil war. Each {S} costs 3 Econ and 3 Art and produces 3 Progress
She is breaking our law too. This isn't a matter of the newcomer breaking the law, it's a matter of all the people around her breaking the law.
Well. When you are sure (and preferably can link your source so I can be sure), I'll be happy to go with that. Until then, I'm going to go with rules-as-written.Hmm. I think we got the -1 legitimacy in exchange for a guarantee of not actually losing overall stability by the end of the action. The action still works the same way otherwise.
Sure.Either way, @PrimalShadow I actually do want to know if I've got the mechanics right here. I'm headed to bed, but if AN chimes in, pm me ya?
Nope, we got Bronze Age Law early by being super awesome.
The Txolla basically decided to send shuffle some of the people they had annexed over as "refugees" since they figured that was why their overlords were annoyed with them.
Options for you.I'm not clear, does the currently leading vote (Census/Cataracts/Havalley) address our crazy martial at all?
From the update:
Cap raise from integration mostlyI'm not clear, does the currently leading vote (Census/Cataracts/Havalley) address our crazy martial at all?
Your looking at this from a modern view. Please stop doing that when trying to deal with the people who don't have said view. From the update:
However, since the woman in charge of the place was definitely overcharging her for food and rent, if she didn't offer herself to the clients, she went hungry because she didn't have enough to pay.
or to offering the stern faced tax collector the king's cut of her earnings - along with his personal bribe of sex and silver of course
and pay off the tax man who tracked all of this
The emphasis is mine.
These are all deliberate acts to take advantage of someone who doesn't know better and doesn't know the system well enough to get proper justice. These are not regular day-to-day troubles of the average Ymaryn. I'm sure that the tax collector does not have to be bribed with sex by everyone after all.
Merc Companies still take a full main.
