There's already a tradition of the people keeping secrets even internally for various reasons of concern or danger.
they carry around surgical tools and little dolls with wound markings to serve as shorthand for what treatments to apply when they are in a hurry and need to consult their notes quickly. People find these intensely creepy and there are all sorts of stories about what they actually do, and the Carrion Eaters sometimes encourage them.
See: the Carrion Eaters.

There's more than one reason I'd rather Enforce Justice than Restore Order, yes.

And I will happily sacrifice your road obsession for it.
Uh...what?
Enforce Justice deals with people disobeying the law.
Restore Order deals with people manipulating the law.

And we have moved from Marginal Trails to Marginal Trails, after a Main, so there's definitely still a problem.

It's been around a while and has yet to be challenged at all.

Forgive my pessimism, but I am not putting blind faith into your idea that something that hasn't even been hinted at happening might start happening.
Has Greater Justice been around for a while? No.

Have we had an introduction to our political system that is explicitly noted to be "noticeably unfair"? No.

Hardly blind faith; and I similarly am not putting blind faith into your idea that a "meritocratic" and "democratic" system, i.e. one identical in structure to our nepotistic system, will somehow be at all better. You're basically just starting a new problem rather than the fixing the one we have.

The good of the many outweighs the good of the few.
But it is the few who decides what's good.
And in a generation it will become the Norm, the expected way of things, rather than a Wrong Thing, like had happened with every bit of nepotism so far.

In this case, the unfairness is baked in. Up to the modern day we still hadn't managed to end that.
Yeah... and it's totally not like protests at the lower levels where elections are actually happening won't scale upwards. Change starts at the bottom.

Up to the medieval day guilds were a perennial issue and innovation-hampering structure which offered pretty much 0 improvements.

Nepotism will be always be an issue and only one choice offers even the hint at stopping it. & it's not your new choice.

Where? I just searched for his posts and he said nothing of the sort.
it was a reply to Kiba, idr.

I need to step away now. For the love of Gygo, please don't have me come back to find that a surge of low-effort voters has selected rule-by-drunken-hobo again.

Hey, the head of the Hobo's guild is a perfectly respectable individual- he never drinks!

Enforce Justice deals with people disobeying the law.
Restore Order deals with people manipulating the law.
Enforce Justice is about ensuring that our society is just.
Restore Order is about silencing troublemakers.

Our society is relatively good about considering corrupt oligarchs as troublemakers - but that's only when their corruption is actually producing trouble. Not so much about when they're being corrupt and people are sitting down and taking it because Symphony says "don't speak out."

we have moved from Marginal Trails to Marginal Trails, after a Main, so there's definitely still a problem.
We've a lot of problems. Marginal trails isn't the worst of them.

If we're not seeing notable progress... that's not an argument to keep beating our heads on the issue, you know?

And for the trait, Xohyssiri gives us continuance towards the quest of "Fuse Greater Good into everything we can". We still have Honorable Death and Honor of Elites to combine with it!
I'm trying to remember...have we ever combined traits across trait types? because the three things i rmember combining GG with are all also social slots

Yes, instead it's the choice which explicitly furthers nepotism.
The thing is the whole unfairness will be obvious, but you can't change it, because the power to enact change is firmly in the hands of the nepotistic and corrupt under geographical.

Under occupational, it's the same as with the Big Man, with the Oligraches, and now the Occupational Chiefs. The system starts fair, and then is corrupted over time as the new advantages compound.

Drunken hobo is a valued and respected member of the community, whose insights and active approach to problem solving is greatly appreciated.
His lack of mental faculties is only a concern when he's sober, thus it is not a problem.

According to math done earlier, we're 3-5 Main Trails away from the level of connectivity we had when we transitioned over to Oligrachy.
Marginal Trails is compounding those problems because for instance, we wouldn't have needed to wait months to respond to the latest debacle, or even hear about it.

Or for the matter @Academia Nut
