Path of Being Evil (Original Fantasy Quest)

Interlude: House of Twilight, Part I
In the end, you had acceppted Zarya's offer. Seeing no reason to refuse the seemingly harmless invitation at the time. Though you can't help but feel as if you are missing something, something quite important.

Even now, having once again returned to the slums in the dead of night, you aren't quite sure why did you even do it in the first place. You had never been so....sociable before, and certainly not to someone who you had just met.

You frowned deeply in thought as the ruined Church of Mavis City had finally come within your line of sight. Zarya, there is something about that priestess that had made you feel so comfortable while within her direct presence. You don't think she is actively controlling you, the negative energy will then have reacted to the intrusion otherwise, but it is still something to keep in mind the next time you will have to interact with the gorgeous blunette.

This is something to ponder about at a later date however as you are currently within the earshot distance of the church. The night is as silent as the grave, and someone inside might have heard of your approach if you were to carelessly disturb the rubble around the perimeter.

You firmly clasp the torn up black cloak you are wearing as you advance with lightened steps towards the Twin's place of worship. While it's only magical function is to badly distort your voice, it is just a simple matter for you to decide how an obvious disguise is still far better than none whatsoever. Everyone knows how the Church has various different methods for them to detect the kind of an existance such as yourself and you are much more comfortable with the notion of your face being hidden in case you make a blunder in this holy site.

Thus, it is with mind running a mile per minute over the thoughts of being discovered did you reach the building which belongs to the oldest religion ever recorded in Altaria. You gently put your back againts it's cold brick wall, trying to quickly even out your breathing in accordance to the books that you had read. There is a demolished section on this side, this you had seen in the distance, and it would make a much better entry point for you than the church's actual entrance.

The Twin's Church, otherwise known as the House of Twilight to many. The concept of the Religion it practiced was simple, yet it grew ever complicated the more that you dig through it. The faith is basically centralised in the act of worshipping two God like beings who was said to have created the world in a long, long time ago. Both are twins, a reflection to the duality of their nature people have said, and they took turns in deciding the fate of Altaria. These twin's are Luciana, she who governs the Day. And Layla, she who rules the Night. Together, they brought peace and prosperity to the world. If it were ever be so simple.

According to what Sister Kas and your teacher had said, the Church has been encouraging the development of Luciana's faith over those of Layla. You didn't quite get what do they meant by that, but apparantly it got so bad to the point there are many interpretation of the Twin's duality that extends far to where it wasn't supposed to be. Luciana being the source of all Good and Layla being the source of all Evil being only one of the example.

This is a religion that possess a long and rich history to the people all around the world. Most of the large scale events that had happened in the past has some kind of their influence attached to it in one form or another. Whether it be through the Church itself or the Angels that was reported to be present in the area doing Twin knows what. It is a faith that has proven itself many times againts great diabolical forces.

Which is why the idea of you prowling around in the church's outer edges, with a body brimming with negative energy no less, will never be believed by the you from four years ago. Even now, you sometimes had thought you are living a nightmare. A long and horrible one, yet still a nightmare none the less. What would have you given to wake up from this unfair life of yours?

Life is just naturally unfair however. This is the reason why did you reach for Necromancy rather than clinging to faith like what your Sister would have wanted. The Gods would have never given you back your Sister. You can only rely on yourself to force life to be fair.

Nevertheless, for now you cut down your trip to the memory line. The large opening you had seen earlier is now directly in front of you and you silently creeps your way towards it. A quick peek reveals there is no one inside and before long you entered.

It's interior is quite different from the one you had remembered, though it is still build in the same style. It makes sense for there to be a slight cultural difference here. Phione is after all, not Varon.

Feeling a little bit disheartened by the unfamiliarity, you instead began to intently study the hall that you were in. Trying to piece together it's condition from what you could found from a quick observation.

First of all, it's clear that the Church is not exactly abandoned. Using the moon's light for illumination, you can see how the place has been tidied quite recently. There are only a few chairs for believers to sit on, but it is clean and dustless. There is a platform at the church's very back, across it's main door, and atop it you can see candles and all sorts of religious items that looks like to still be in good use. All in all, while it would be unpleasant, the church is still operable for prayers.

You were just about to make a further and more through search of the place, but the sounds of people walking in detered you. Giving a hasty retreat to the opening, you can hear the wooden double door creak ominously, and from the corner of your hiding spot you can see who it was that had interrupted you.

It is a Priestess you realized, as if you hadn't had enough for a single day. She is currently alone and appeared to be in her teens. Her garb indicates her to be merely an Acolyte of Luciana, but then where is the standing Bishop?

The Priestess of Dawn is confidently striding through the darkened hall of the church, seemingly assured with her familiarity with the place. You tightly hold your breath the moment she draws near, and release it softly by the time she pass with no signs of her being aware of your presence.

A simple wait is enough to reveal her intentions. She is lighting up the candles while sorting out the items on the table. You only had a vague memory of it, but you are sure it is something that she has done every night.

Suddenly she stopped. You can see her relaxed form had now turned tense. Something on the table had attracted her attention, and before you can give it a guess she instantly turned herself around. Swiftly moving somekind of emblem all around her that glows with soft violet light. It dimmed and brightened seemingly at random, before glowing at it's strongest in one particular direction.

Towards you.

You widened your eyes, but it is already too late. The priestess had already let her staff out and with a cry of 'By Luciana's Light!' a beam holy energy is headed straight at you!

(Intrigue Check: Nat 1. Interlude encounter with a hostile noteable commenced.)

You awkwardly rolled backwards in desparation, managing to only let the blast nip slightly at your cloak.

Retreating even further to the chilly outside, you let your mind race. The girl is snarling while following you, intent on giving pursuit with that damnable emblem on one hand. You don't know what it exactly does, but judging by how quick she is resorting to lethal attacks it is fine to assume she wouldn't miss whatever it is pointing out to her.

You considered your options. You can always flee, this operation is a failure already, but the acolyte definitely wouldn't make it easy. Not to mention how she is obviously aware of your true nature. You would have a harder time in the future if the knowledge of a Necromancer is around spreads. There's a possibility that the emblem is pointing out something entirely different, but you aren't going to bet on it.

That leaves silencing her down. Dead girl after all say no tales. The problem however is you need to finish her fast. A burst of mana or two will be ignored by the Tower as magic is used all the time, but one that goes pretty long with a high intensity? That would indicate a fight is going on and with the Tower on high level alert as it is they would quickly come over to investigate the scene.

You can knock her out and simply took the emblem. That way there will be no prove even if she say something. You first need to get close however as you aren't confident in keeping your spells non lethal. Even Dark Grasp might give her head a rough pounding with the amount of force that it has, but you aren't really in a good place to gave out mercies didn't you?

She is preparing another beam of light at you. Whatever you do you need to decide it now!

You will have 6 Health

The battle will be conducted narratively with your overall result vs enemy overall result

Battle roll: 2d20 + Stats + Modifiers

You are free to plan whatever you want according to the Skills on the character page and by using basic logic

The Quest Master will be deciding on what stats your action will be using

Martial and Magic stats would both be your offensive and defensive stats

Diplomacy, Stewardship, Intrigue, and Learning stats can be used to either give you an advantage or giving your enemy a malus

Example:
Martial; Grapple away your opponents weapon, if succeed the enemy will lose that weapon

Diplomacy: Distract opponent by talking, if succeed the enemy will suffer a malus

Stewardship: Search your surrounding for corpses you can reanimate, if succeed you would gain a throw away minion

Learning: Study your opponent for either their patterns or their weak spot, if succeed you would receive a bonus in battle roll

Intrigue: Prepare your undead to ambush an enemy, if succeed your undead would gain a bonus on their battle roll

Magic: Bind your opponent using Dark Grasp, if succeed your enemy will receive a malus

Important: Your specification will affect the rolls. For example againts Vecna, if you mentioned her sister in talking action she will then receive a massive malus

Martial roll would receive a 40% malus if you fought in range. Your stats would remain unaffected

Magic roll would receive a 40% malus if you fought in close quarter. Your stats would remain unaffected

Winning a Battle Roll will wound the losing side for 1 Health

A Crit will give an additional 1 wound

Barrier in your equipment would function as a damage dampener, though beware 1 wound would be the absolute minimum unless there is a roll difference of 20 or more

Crit will be 19-20

Crit Fail will be 1

Roll difference with more than 10 will be a Crit for the winner

Please formulate your plan with simplicity to give the Quest Master freedom in creating the narrative
[ ] Plan: Fight Offensively
-[ ] Took the innitiave by immediately attacking the Priestess with barrages of Dark Blast. Try to distract her by talking while using Fear Aura. Quickly approach her while using Negative Reinforcement. Grapple her staff away and beat her to unconsciousness using it.

[ ] Plan: Fight Defensively
-[ ] Run to the rubble and use it as cover. Search your surrounding for corpses you can turn into undead and have them attack the Priestess. While she is distracted, concentrate your mana using Focused Magic. Attack using Focused Dark Blast when an opportunity presented itself.

Sorry for the premature update previously everyone. Oh my God I am so embarassed. This is a little bit rushed, but I think it came out okay. If you all had any questions about the battle mechanic then you can let me know.

Interlude: House of Twilight, Part 2
[X] Plan: Fight Offensively
-[X] Took the innitiave by immediately attacking the Priestess with barrages of Dark Blast. Try to distract her by talking while using Fear Aura. Quickly approach her while using Negative Reinforcement. Grapple her staff away and beat her to unconsciousness using it.

I can't let her take the lead. You thought after momentarily considering your situation.

Fighting in the city is dangerous for you considering how fast the back up can arrive in this land. It would be easy for her to play the waiting game until help arrives if you were to gave her the chance. Thus it would be better if you just deny it outright by being very aggresive in this enggagement.

Mind's made up, you immediately extend your right arm towards the attacking blond Priestess. Swiftly releasing a magic shot made out of a dark attributed mana from your open palm to counter her next offensive.

You must be faster than you thought, or maybe your enemy is just too slow. Because even before she had released her attack, yours had already reached her. Striking with a pin point accuracy that had even amazed you, the Dark Blast you made had carved out an eye from the unprepared girl. Making her scream in pain while also scattering her blood and gore to the ground behind her. It was just a glancing blow, but it is enough to knock her off of her feet and snuffing out the light that she is making.

Not wasting an opportunity being given, you began advancing towards her prone defenseless figure. She is moaning in absolute agony while grasping her now injured, and likely missing, left eye. Too busy sobbing in a kneeling position with her back facing you to even notice your approach due to the immense suffering you had just inflicted on her.

You might have given her pity because of the miserable sight, but that feeling completely went out to drain when you saw her staff glowing in an entrancing white light. Not for an attack this time, as her hand covered eye then began to glow as well. This girl is healing herself!

Clicking your tongue in annoyance, you hasten up your steps. Quickly launching yourself into a tirade of random mocking and derogatory insults towards the teen in an attempt to distract her even further from your rapidly closing in form. Fortunately it seems to be working on the very first try. Making your brief split of focus to use Negative Reinforcement to be worth it.

"What's the matter?" You said in your current teeth gnashing voice. "If you rather sleep there instead of facing me then you shouldn't have attacked. Why did you do that anyway? I meant you no harm."

"No harm? You can't lie to me you monster." She uttered in a gasping breath. A snarl is evident in her tone. "I may not know what your kind is, but I know what people like you do. The Twin's can also see that. So don't tell me you wished me no harm when you had already cost me an eye!"

She then suddenly turned herself around. Her staff is already shining once again in preparation for another attack, and you can see how her eyes are tiredly blinking in exertion. She is clearly on her last legs, but there's steel on her next words that makes you want to grit your teeth in irritation at her audacity.

"Selfish people like you only knows how to take, take, and keep on taking! I had already lost everything once before, and I will never let anyone experience that cruelty you would have surely bring!"

"Then-" You began to say, easily taking her staff away from her quivering hand to raise it far above your head. You saw her eyes widened, clear surprise at your proximity and how your next intentions being just that obvious to her. Too bad there's nothing she can do to stop it.

"-WHY ARE YOU SO WEAK!?" You yelled. Swinging her staff down hard towards her head that gave off a satisfying "KYAHAK!?" out of the clueless bitch. Rocking her body around and causing blood to flow out of her head.

"You had no right in saying that when you only knew nothing." You spat at her before narrowing your eyes. The Priestess hand is still moving and it is attemping to lift herself off the ground. Just how stubborn is this girl?

"At the very least you should have know the time to actually STOP!" You snapped. Bulging her eyes out by cruelly stomping on her stomach and making her lose air for her useless effort.

"Fa, Father, Frank, lin...." Cried out the Acolyte possibly for one last time. Closing her eyes while softly descending into the darkness known as fainting.

You gave her a moment or two to come back again, but after half a minute it is clear how the girl is definitely out cold this time. She won't be waking up anytime soon and you let out a sigh of relieve at that.

While the battle is over, no matter how easy it was, the problem isn't entirely gone. A quick look around is enough to reveal the location of what you are looking for, and thus you kneeled right beside the unconcious priestless to take a hold of it. The damn thing is shining even brighter now with your touch upon it's surface.

Laying atop of your palm is the emblem which had started this whole mess. It's a purple round gem circled by a ring of silver with an intricate looking carvings. From your knowledge, this item is for the devoters of Leyla, and quite an old one too. Why is this thing just being left behind on a table?

You direct your gaze to the opening in the church walls. Could there possibly more valuables on there? While you hadn't exactly geared up tonight for a looting spree, you could at least be able to take two or three more items on your person. Four if one of them is small.

Should you though?

[ ] Yes, loot the Church!

[ ] No, you don't want to bother.

After pocketing Leyla's emblem, you then switch your attention towards the night's trouble maker. Leaning over the Priestess, you delicately grabbed her chin with your fingers. Slowly turning her face left and right to inspect the extent of injury you had caused. Finishing that, you then trail your eyes across her petite figure from the top to bottom. Carefully checking and crossing out an imaginative list inside your mind while doing so.

You nod to yourself after being done with your innitial assestment of the girl. The damage is quite minimal, she had a fit body, and judging from the first magic she had used you are confident she also had a good mana system.

Yes, this Priestess would make a fine Undead indeed.

You tilt your head while retracting your hand. The problem however is again, should you? This girl is, for all intents and purposes, an unknown to you. Who knows what her situation might be and there's no telling who you might have angered by killing her.

Once again your gaze falls to the Church. There's that Father Franklin figure, and it's easy enough to deduce he is the missing Bishop. That ship most likely had sailed though as you are sure he will not be happy about you smacking her Acolyte's head to the ground with her own staff.

Does it even really matter? You asked yourself in the privacy of your own head. Shifting your eyes coldly back to the slumbering Priestess laying in front of you. I can't really have her go blabbering about what had happened tonight to anyone couldn't I?

Simply put, she is dangerous to let alive. You don't know what exactly had she seen from the emblem, but she clearly considers you to be a dangerous enough individual to warrant an immediate action to be given. She definitely will try to make a big deal out of you the moment she recovers. It would be bad for you if news of a Necromancer presence in Mavis were to spread.

Though you can let her go. You just don't see the reason why. Maybe the uproar might given you a chance at something? Maybe she by some miracle will not tell anybody? Who knows.

You consider the staff in your hand. Decisions, decisions.

What you should do about the Priestess?

[ ] Kill her, take her corpse with you.

[ ] Kill her, leave her corpse behind.

[ ] Spare her, and leave her laying there.

Interlude: Blooming Cinder, Part I
"H-How can this be possible?" You said in utter astonishment. Not being able to process the scene you are currently beholding.

"I assure you Miss Vecna. This very much is possible and indeed is happening. You should have seen this coming after yesterday."

"I did. I had only thought about it, but I did. I just didn't think it would end like this."

"Oh really?" Said the Priestess with a poorly hidden smile. She must be greatly enjoying your torment. "Then please tell me this. For both of our sakes."

"What do you think about the festival?" Asked Zarya with a questioning gesture towards the revelry before you.

"Honestly? The festivity is quite overwhelming." You truthfully replied while giving Zarya a nervous chuckle. Thus receiving a brief giggle out of the blunette that easily makes you blush red in embarrassment.

It is now a day after your debacle at the Twin's Church. In the end you had chose to choke the life out of the fallen Dawn Priestess. Prefering to have the basic product to be as without damage as possible.

She had thrashed around for a little bit, but after her death all that you need to worry about is the Acolyte's spit in your hands and the blood splatter on the ground. The former is easy enough to handle with a few disgusted wipe on your cloak, but you need to resort to using a few magic spells to completely get rid of the latter.

You then decide there was just far too many risk in raiding the Church for more of it's valuables. So it is only with the girl's body on your shoulder, her staff, and the emblem did you leave the holy premises. Hoping for this screw up to not bite you in the future.

It is when you are carrying the Priestess rapidly cooling corpse did you notice the lights around Mavis popular roads. You had only giving them a few annoyed glances before electing to go the long way around in order to not stumble across anybody. Nothing of note had happened during this endeavor, but you can still hear how loud they were in prepping up the place. It must be torturous for the people living there you reckoned.

Thoughts about the festival were practically gone from your mind the moment you had safely reached home. You still need to prepare the girl's corpse with a few reagents to not have it deteriorate in a week or two. So you had only thought the night workers were just going to add a few lamps and ribbons along the posts made during the months and then leave it at that.

You didn't thought they were going to completely refurbish the place.

Where there was once a bare stone road with some simple wooden contstruct, it is now all covered in a variety of decorations that is associated with Akhti. Sun shaped lamps are beautifully hanging around the houses balcony, flame like ribbons are energetically fluttering along with the wind between the buildings, various wooden statues modeled after warriors in mid battle are placed at the road sides, and there are even many strange magical contructs floating in the air like a sun with a face that of a fish and more bizarre like objects. This massive change from the previous day alone is enough to give you pause, but the people. Oh the literal Horde of people is even worse.

Simply put, there is Leyla too damn many of them! You can count hundreds of them with your sight alone, ranging from Humans, Elfs, Dwarfs, and Beastkins. All of them are dressed up in red and yellow while doing everything that they can do to be as loud as inhumanly possible. Most of them are just rowdily chatting around, but the people who are dancing, drinking, and generally getting merry are not in a small number either. By the Inferno even the Elf's Spirits are getting in to this judging by the small colourful forms freely flying above everyone heads. Is that also a couple of teen doing play fighting on the rooftop over there?

So, just like what you had said earlier. Massively overwhelming. A fact that seemed to only amuse the Head Priestess beside you.

"That's wonderful." Zarya happily said. "It would be a particular concern for me if they were to be all doom and gloom, Miss Vecna."

You gave her a few dry laugh at that. "Ha ha. I didn't know there was this many people in Mavis."

"There usually wasn't." Answered the blunette before explaining further after noting your raised brow. "During joyful days such as this, most people from the surrounding towns and villages will usually travel to the nearest city to join in on the celebrations. There is simply far more activities to be enjoyed here like what you can see."

Great, another difference from your homeland. Which reminds you...."I think I can see some stuff that resembled something from Varon."

Zarya perks up at that. Swiftly explaining to you the reason before buying two pair of grilled apple sticks from the nearby stall for your group. "That was due to the presumption of Akhti being a Varonian. We do not know it for certain, but traces of his heroic deeds does travel back to around, if you forgive me for speaking, the three remmant nations. People then learned about that before adapting it to the festival and the matter was then settled with how the Priest of Akhti having no problem with it. Want some?"

You accept the gift with a wistful sigh. Saying you have no problem with it before taking a bite out of the apple. Making you smile at the sweetness of it.

"Don't worry about it. I had never lived in that era and it was practically what we have been known for. Thank you for this Zarya."

"Your welcome." The blunette then gave you another beautiful smile that takes away your breath yet again. Prompting you to smile even wider in return.

You don't know why you are feeling this way. You check your internal mana circulation, and once again you find it to have been non disturbed by anything. There is no possible way for Zarya to control you yet you are still affected by her presence. You don't know why, but with her you feel....lightened somehow.

"Is there something wrong Vecna?" You were then cut out of your contemplation by someone who is not Zarya. Turning around with an irritated glare you can see it was actually your partner Cobe.

The Blue Beastkin is standing a few paces behind you. Blinking at you with his mouth agape as if you had suddenly declared yourself as the new Lich Lord of the land.

"No. Why?" You asked him back. Why did Cobe look so concerned? His answer however just further increase your worries.

"You didn't look so....happy usually." Said Cobe slowly. He then tilt his head as if to better observe your current set of being before smiling softly. "You must be a great friend with her."

You assess his statement to be ridiculous and then flatly told him of it. "No. We had only met yesterday."

Your reply only seems to confuse Cobe even more though. Thankfully, before he can say anything more than a few words, Zarya stepped in to the conversation and offers him his portion of the sweet apple. Not thankfully however, they then decided to become the bestest of friends right before your very eyes.

"Then how did-"

"An apple?"

"-she, oh thank you. It is kind of you Sister Lynn."

"Not a problem Sir Cobe. It is my pleasure. It's reassuring to know Miss Vecna had friends in her work place that is worried about her well being."

"We try. We know Vecna has problems with getting along with others."

"Oh I can definitely see that! Why she looked so sheltered when coming in to the temple yesterday. She needed someone to give her the right push to make her come out of her shell. I am glad your team is there for the best of her."

"We can't compare to you though Sister Lynn. She seemed so comfortable while with you. With me she looked always ready to dodge as if I was going to bite her."

"Oh goodness! Did you need some help with that?"

"Ah you didn't need to do that. We'll manage."

"It's fine~! Now, here is what you-"

And on and on did they go. Speaking amicably with each other about you as if you weren't right beside them. At this point your eye is already twitching madly at their topic and thus you decided to remind them of your existance.

"Are you all satisfied?" You surly asked the two blunette. Feeling satisfaction by how they panicked and then immediately apologizes when they heard your tone. Serves them right.

You however are feeling quite forgiving today. So you graciously accept their apology. For a moment you felt great, but the irritated voice from the last member of your group instantly put a damper on your enthusiasm with a slight bit of fear. Judging by how Cobe is nervously saying their name, he also felt the same way.

"Come on guys. It's unbecoming of you two to act like that."

"Just like how it is unbecoming of you to slack while being on duty Miss Vera?"

"Khk!"
"V-Vice Master Alberad."

The sight of the frowning person with the second highest authority within the Mage Tower of Mavis City immediately puts you and Cobe into an upright standing position. The pale Elf is currently narrowing his eyes between the two of you, as if he found the both of you to be wanting. Behind him, you could see the rooftop teenagers from earlier who seemed to have been through a particularly rough session of scolding. Guess that explained where he had been this whole time.

There had been quite a ruckus at the Tower this morning when you had told your team of your promise while reporting for duty. Apparantly, in the middle of your bewilderment with Zarya, you had in fact forgotten about your assigned duty to guard the main plaza for the day biggest attraction. An acceptable mistake if it weren't for whom you had make the promise with.

There is simply no possible way for the Tower to just disregard the High Priestess of the city main religion. So it was decided that you will be reassigned to the position of guarding Zarya. Just with the difference of your team escorting the blunette from up close instead of watching from afar like what the previous team was supposed to do.

Which is also why it must be Vice Master Noralf Alberad who will be leading this operation instead of the previously assigned team. He is the only one with the actual competence to immediately drop his previous duty and switch over to the new one while having both the strength and the prestige necesary to protect and interact with someone as important as Zarya. Though it is obviously an unwelcome change considering how unimpressed he is with you right now.

Zarya, bless her wonderful soul, then tried to pacify the irate pale Elf. Tried being the word here as the Adept Spirit User accepts her words in the likeness of an exquisite wall. As in, he brushes her off as politely as he could.

"You don't need to be so harsh on them Sir Alberad. It is honestly my mistake as I didn't know Miss Vecna is an M.T.A."

"Which is the point Sister Lynn, you didn't know. It is the fault of us, the Mage Tower, this time for our current inconvenience. If we had known of your arrangement with Miss Vera then we could have provided you the protection that you deserve while communing with our newest member. Alas it wasn't mean to be and for that you have our sincerest apology."

He then shoots you a glare from the corner of his eyes. Making you straightent out your form even more than what you had thought to be possible. "That doesn't excuse you to be so lax while I am being occupied however Miss Vera. Being accommodating is acceptable, but do please be far more aware of your surrounding."

"Yes Sir!" You immediately answered with vigor. This man scares you, even more so than Wilhelm.

The Vice Master, seemingly satified with your answer for the moment, then turned to Cobe to give him his own version of passive beratement. The Wolf Beastkin is already shuddering well before the Elven eyes had even fall on him.

Beside you, Zarya is softly letting out a sight while pressing a few fingers on the side of her head. Seemingly dissappointed by her unsuccessful effort. She then turned towards you, giving you a smile with a 'what can you do' expressions on her face.

"Well, I guess there really isn't anything that could change Sir Alberad's opinion when he is that sure of himself. Nevermind that however, we are here to have fun Miss Vecna. Where do you want to go from here before the main event started?"

At the blunette inquiry, you silently take another bite out of the apple stick you are still holding. Even with the number of attractions being cut down because of the restriction that took place, there's still many activities that was being held that does interest you.

It would be easy enough for you to participate in the mundane games and shows. But you have eyes for those with the tantalizing rewards for winning. There's even some competition that needs you to prove your skills as a mage and one that is just different from the others by the simple fact of it's owner being a Scalekin. The onlookers who are around those booths were also pretty interesting from a quick glance.

What games should you play here? It's better for you to choose no more than three.

A simple game of luck where you roll the wheels and the marble colour which came out of it then will decide the reward. The lowest reward seems to only be a simple toilet paper, but it then followed by double the money being taken, 2 middle grade mana stones, and a single high grade equipment.

The booth was manned by a smirking female human. Beside a male Porcupine Beastkin among the crowd, you can also see some members of your team. There is Aaron, Alan, and is that Kiera?

Stewardship DC: 40/80/95

[ ] Play Super Smash:

A simple game where all you had to do was to smash the sandbag as hard as you can to reach the top score. The reward is a single mediocre middle grade item.

The booth was manned by a strong looking male Bull Beastkin. You can see Roy and Mary chatting enthusiastically with some dwarfs who is not busy cheering for the game challengers.

Martial DC: 50

[ ] Play Magic Hoops:

A game that was specifically made for mages. It involves the player guiding a ball made by their own magic through a series of hoops floating in the air to reach the goal. The twist of it is how there was also a set of targets along the way for players to destroy. If you only reach the goal then you will get two middle grade potions of your choosing. If you can hit all of the targets while reaching the goal then you would get a book for a magic spell to 'animate' your other spells.

The booth was manned by a boisterous male mage and a professional looking female elf. You don't see anyone particularly noteworthy among the cro-wait is that Herman?

Magic DC: 35/65

[ ] Play Pop Veggie:

A game for anyone with patience and control the sign said. It seems all that you had to do was to slowly channel your mana to a magic sensitive plant that will then grow in a very accelerated pace. If you manage to grow it succesfully then you can keep the plant that is equivalent to a middle grade reagent. Luck also seems to be a factor in here as some plants will also rarely sprout a core that is equivalent to a high grade reagent.

The booth was manned by a kind looking male elf. You can see a tired middle aged man wearing all black and a beautiful mature woman with revealing clothes playing the game with spectacular results.

Magic DC: 20/70

[ ] Play Weight of Blood:

A booth made of stone that was manned by a Saurian Scalekin. From what the signs said it seems to be a fortune telling attraction. The place is currently empty of visitors.

Interlude: Blooming Cinder, Part II
[X] Play Wonder Wheels

You don't think you will be able to get the best prize out of, what is most likely, a rigged gambling game. But, the sight of the males part of your team accompanying the nervous stuttering Warlock that you had been chatting up that one time during your first recon of the Tower does piqued your curiousity somewhat.

The standard operation protocol for working on the field like this is two Assistants working together under the command of a single Observator. This you had remembered learning about from Rick. You don't see anyone beside the three of them who wears a Mage Tower uniform, and you aren't stupid enough to think the Porcupine Beastkin to be an undercover agent. So that must mean....you curl your lips into a frown.

After finishing off the rest of your apple, you then began to walk with a little bit of trepidation towards the direction of your fellow Mage Tower coworkers. Not forgetting the Vice Master 'advice' to be more on your guard while still on duty by flanking either side of Zarya together with Cobe. The Priestess is oblivious to your worries, while the Wolf Beastkin just seems to be happy about meeting some of his supposed pack. Observator Alberad himself is walking at the front after noticing where did you all headed, presumeably to prepare a greeting for them.

The first one to notice you all is Aaron. He is standing behind the other two with a red, fist sized, mana stone in his hand. After swiftly putting it away into his breast pocket, the Karrion Mage then pollitely does a bow to his superior. Alerting both Alan and Kiera to your group's presence.

The Warlock was in the middle of rolling her prize beside the red head when this had just happened. Kiera literally squeaked at the sudden appearrance of your group, releasing the wheel's handle in surprise and letting it roll on it's own. Alan meanwhile was mimicking what Aaron had just done and was bowing with far more grace than him towards the Elf.

By the time your group had reached them, the wheel had just stopped rolling. It letting out a single white marble that the owner shouted out to be just for a simple tissue. You can see the Warlock's eyes clearly becoming more watery in response to the claim. Unfortunately for her, from the short time you had spend with the prim and proper Elven Vice Master, you had learned of how the man is merciless to everything.

"Observator Mcdowell, Sir Aaron, and Sir Alan. I trust all of you have found nothing of particular concern during your rounds to be able to afford this kind of luxury in your post?" Questioned Noralf Alberad. His eyes piercing them with the harshness that of a cold winter. Unlike you and Cobe however, the three of them hadn't only seems to have expected it, they also had managed to weather it out successfully without flinching. It naturally comes with experience, you suppose.

"Yes, Vice Master." Smoothly answered Aaron. Recounting to you all exactly what they had done ever since dawn while also gesturing to Blake who is licking it's paws right behind it's masters legs. "We have circled the eastern part of the main plaza connecting to Mavis business district for around two times. During both of them we have not found any individuals acting suspiciously within the premise nor did Blake had ever caught a whiff of anything with the smell of either fresh blood or substances suggesting how they are illicit in nature. Therefore we concluded how none of the gangs were going to do anything substantial from this particular direction of the festival. Giving us some time to reacquaint ourself with the holy day activities."

So Blake's nose is quite sharp? Thank the Twin's for your habits in using antiseptics after a disection.

Your leader for this mission doesn't seem to be satisfed however. After hearing what Aaron had to say, he then turned towards the apparantly meekest Adept Class that you had ever seen and wordlessly asked her of her accounts. Something that she easily gave to him after momentarily composing herself.

"Yes, it is just as Aaron said Vice Master. It's not the usual M.O of the gangs to do something big during a large event like this beyond simple pick pocketing. So I think it would be nice for us to enjoy some of the available attractions. Of course, we also rotates someone to serve as a lookout when the others are playing. Is this to your satisfactory?"

For a moment Alberad was just silently regarding the female Warlock, but with a sigh the tension was then suddenly broken. The intensity of his gaze isn't gone. It was just lessened. He then said what is his opinions about them one by one.

"It's adequate. You are an Observator now, Miss Mcdowell. So please be far more assured of yourself. As for you Sir Aaron. Helping a former teammate is admirable, but she is your leader for this mission. Give her the chance to speak first before you do. Sir Alan? Don't be too soft. Now all of you please be cordial with Sister Lynn."

He then walks off not too far away after that. Most likely giving them a chance to speak freely with Zarya. The Head Priestess does make it clear how she had wanted to meet with the rest of your team. The problem however, is how there are now one less person for Keira to be distracted by from you who most likely had treated her as a simple fellow Assistant or worse during your first meeting. Judging by the recognition that you can see in her eyes, she also had remembered you.

"Oh! Hello Vecna. You are my replacement?"

"Ah, yes. It seems so Kiera. So you're an Observator?"

"I sure am! It's nice to see you again."

Fortunately she seems to only have a positive impressions of you. A fact that didn't escape the resident noble's notice.

"You know of her Kiera?"

"Yes, we met in front of the control room three months ago talking about what the tower is capable of. She seemed scary at first, but she is actually very nice with how she is patiently waiting for me talk."

"Hooh?"

You don't know why. But Alan's gaze to you now carry a little more weight in them. Is he actually close with Kiera?

You don't have the chance to contemplate about it further however as Zarya obviously has lost her patience. She, together with Aaron, then drags all of you to an exhausting conversation regarding team 8, your time in the tower, foods, and other random topics.

Cobe is passively following the discussion just like you, while Alan is ignoring you all entirely in favor of just staring far into the distance. Kiera is the one who had surprised you by actually being the most talkative after Zarya and Aaron.

It is during this fiasco did you discovered how Kiera wasn't actually a stutter. She is shy, but not to the point where she is normally stumbling her words like what you had saw previously. It seems you are just that scary when you had first approached her, and your heart had almost stopped beating when she said she had almost thought of you as a vampire.

Thankfully, your time to talk is a short one. So it is with a 'heavy heart' did you part ways with Kiera and the others. Them continuing with their patrol while you doing what you had been aiming for by coming here.

Something that doesn't amuse the pink haired booth's owner judging by what is her first words to you all.

"Fucking finally! If you all wanted to talk then do it somewhere else. You all are scaring my customers."

"Having both Sister Lynn and Vice Master Alberad close by is just going to make it hard for me to rip them all off, you know?" She shamelessly continued. Uncaring of the woman of faith in front of her. Though Zarya herself doesn't seem to mind.

"Cormac and Hardrak are part of the pantheon that I woshipped Miss Vecna. While it wasn't a full blown encouragement, my faith does approve a little bit of gambling with fate." Said the Head Priestess to you after you had asked. She then rolled her lever with a quiet determination which she then was rewarded with a simple double of the money she payed. Something that she cheerfully accepted with dignity.

"Then let me go next." Said Cobe. Determined to win at least something of value like what Aaron had done. His result?

"No fucking way, you won!?" Screamed the booth owner at the sight of the golden marble that had just rolled out of the wheel. Followed by the bulging eyes of Cobe that is full of disbelief, and the cry of satisfaction let out by the Porcupine Beastkin who for some reason is still here.

"Booyah! Take that Merro you bitch! Congrats brother. Glory to the Beastkin, HAHA!!" Cheered the Beastkin while putting an arm around Cobe's shoulder. His smile is wide with what you considered to be a vindictive glee.

"Um, and you are?" Asked Cobe to his fellow Beastkin in an absolute confusion. His mind can't quite keeping up with the situation.

"Name's Quill. I am a Beast Trainer. Now listen to me, brother. This bitch here? She is a shameless scammer with the worst luck above all of Altaria. I had won that golden marble reward three times in a row from her and then she confiscate them back claiming I was cheating! Can you believe that?" Gestured Quill to the pinkette apparantly called Merro who is quitely grinding her teeth in anger. But, before all of you can say anything in response, he quickly continued where he had left off.

"Why if it weren't for your fellow Mage Tower folks, I'll have despaired. That red guy of yours forces her to return my stuff to me after hearing of my plight. Since then I was waiting here to see whether bad luck would then strike her again, and would you look at that, it did. From a fellow Beastkin to boot! This is Karma I'll say! KARMA!! KYAHAHAHA!!" Thus guffawed the vengeful Porcupine to the utter discomfort of Cobe. Laughing madly as if he is possesed.

They then talk with each other somemore. Though you can't really bother about it as you are also rolling your part in this gamble. Smiling excitedly while wanting to also win big like them. Thus being rewarded with a-

You feel so worthless right now.

Though maybe....

You slowly raised your head from the kneeling position you found yourself in. Looking past the mature figure of Zarya who is busy consoling you with notions of how it was just bad luck, you can see Quill who seems to have enough of his share of talking with Cobe.

The lucky Porcupine is currently leaving with his barely covered back being completely open for you to examine. This damn Beastkin has three High Class Equipment on him and from a simple observation you can easily tell how he is barely reaching a Novice grade. If you could figure out who exactly he is then it would only be a simple matter for you to kill him and take those items for yourself.

Yes....that's the plan. You thought maliciously within your mind. Thus it is while accepting the hand from the priestess did you really start to look over the person known as Quill.

Intrigue Check: Who is this guy?
DC: 40
Roll: 50 + 7 = 57
Success

He has a figure that is obviously indicating he had been working out. So he must be martially inclined as it is typical with a Beastkin like him. Not living well though considering how dirty his clothes are and how tightly did he hold his newest prize. Was shunned too, with how he is distancing himself from the traffic, though maybe that was just you grasping at straws. So maybe he lived in the Old Beastkin District? He did leave in that direction, and is that? Yes, he must have. This you are certain, but it is after you saw your next clue did you become convinced of your deduction.

Simply put, this guy is a Rainbow Head.

Quill is part of the gang that Herman and his cronies had previously thrashed about which was full with a bunch of drug addicts. This you can see from the attrophied muscle that he has. It sure has become healthy again, but your experienced eyes can clearly see the twitching nerves and the faint needle marks that was left behind after....maybe a year or two of rehabilitation? You aren't quite sure from this distance, but there are signs proving how he is reentering that part of his life once again recently. Damaging, yet again, the barely recovered organs to even a much worser state.

Then finally. At the back of his neck, in the shadows where his rough skin is meeting his needle like hair, where it was scrubbed clean with what seemed to be some sort of a specialized soap.

You can see his scalp was glowing lightly in the variety of rainbow colours. Proving just what kind of magical drug did he had just consumed and was desperately trying to hide.

Combine that intel with the tibbits you had gained from Rick about the Rainbow Heads then you are sure you would be able to find him in a month or two.

"Are you okay, Miss Vecna?" Worriedly asked Zarya. She is still holding your hand while looking at you with deep concern. Cobe too for that matter. Though for wha-ah you are smiling quite widely, aren't you? Now that wouldn't do.

"Don't worry about me." You said in your usual emotionless tone. Something that still didn't assure the blunette, but why? You are feeling quite constricted too for that matter. Is your....? It sure is. Yesterday night coupled with that brief despair at losing might have loosen up your hold over your negative energy for quite a bit. Better to snap out of it quick, as Zarya is watching you pretty intently right now.

"Are you sure?" Zarya then asked once again. This time with her other hand tenderly touching your cheek.

"I am sure." You reassured her once more while briefly closing your eyes. Steadily gaining back control over your own magic. When you opened them up again, this time you add a little bit of liveliness to your voice. Which seemed to actually work by how she is perking up. "We still have a lot to do during the festival right? So let's go there already!"

Then, with the hand she had used to hold yours before and still is, you dragged the blunette along with you. Surprising her and Cobe both thus making them have to run to be able to keep up with you. From behind them you can see Alberad heavily sighing to himself before swiftly following.

"Slow down Vecna!" Yelped Zarya who still has not found her balance with her hand in your grasp. "If you really want to win then there is always next time you know!?"

"Oh, I know Zarya." You replied back to her while giving a backward glance. Being able to see Quill slowly dissappearing into the crowd over the blunette's head.

"I will definitely have one."

[X] Play Magic Hoops

There really isn't anything to think too heavily about in this ordeal. You are first, and foremost a Mage. It is just logical for you to play by your strength. There are prizes to be gained in this festival, and you are determined to get them come deadly claws or ravenous fangs.

Which is why after your momentary episode on the Wonder Wheels did you lead Zarya, and thus the rest of the group, towards the booth that was made specifically for the entertainments of magic users. You need all the positive reinforcement that you can get to calm down after that pathetic loss of yours.

Gambling is Evil. You should have listened to your Sister.

The blunette herself doesn't seem to mind it very much, cheerfully accepting your hand that you use to drag her along with you, with the Vice Master himself trailing just stoically from a couple of steps behind.

Cobe is the only one who doesn't look very comfortable with the idea. Makes sense considering how he doesn't really have any real option to play. The Wild Soul magic which was used by Beastkins such as him was, like the name suggest, pretty wild. Sure it has it's uses, but he is practically incapable of joining you all in the game like this. The sight of a certain laughing someone at your destination also doesn't help.

That certain someone is currently leaning over the booth's counter, seemingly having the time of his life talking about something to the absolute annoyance of the ones managing the stall. You are only a couple of meters away from Herman, and you think you can hear pieces of what he is saying if you strain your ears hard enough.

Intrigue Check: What are they talking about?

And you indeed hear it.

"-going great for you to have the leisure of just sitting around doing nothing."

"Oh fuck off Herman. People just haven't noticed my brilliance yet. I don't need you to-"

"-why are you here then Kenny~? Our friends are starting to get impatient you know? You better-"

"-understand. Kennard just need more time. For the monthly reparation I will-"

"-Kenny? Millie here knows what she is doing. Why you must be so-is that the Tower Snobs I see over there?"

Their conversation then was cut short due to them finally catching sight of your group approaching. A shame, you really want to learn more though you had already heard enough to deduce the basic situation between them.

You don't know whether Herman is either having a gut made out of steel or just feeling really confident in whatever protection that he is hiding behind, as he doesn't even giving a single damn about who exactly is with you right now. At least the mage and the elf are having a much more understandable reaction. As in sweating as if they are on the inside of Inferno.

"Why, it's dear old Rick's accessories! Here with blue drops and stuck up four eyes too. Decided to be far too important for the bird brain, huh?" Fearlessly snided Herman. Uncaring of the narrowed eyes he then received from the Vice Master. Though you can see his shoulder shuddering for a bit before quickly subsiding.

"Head Priestess Lynn? With the M.T.O's!? And it's Noralf Alberad to boot!? We didn't-Uhuk!? I mean, welcome! Welcome! Would you like to experience a grand journey? One that only your magic can experience? Well, you came to the right place as I, the Great Mage of Black and White Kennard Faust, will be your guide in this exciting adventure known as Magic Hoops!" Grandiosely spluttered the male mage while releasing a dual colored magic from his hands. He panicked for a moment there before his face was contorted in what seems to be pain. His recovery though is pretty fast seeing how he has no problems in doing a series of wild dramatic gestures along with his speech. A person with a dual attribute huh? Quite an energetic fellow this Kennard.

"Yes, welcome to our humble stall, esteemed customers. I am Milliana Willow. Would a few rounds of Magic Hoops will be to your liking?" Calmly advertised the female elf with a well practiced smile. That would be what you are going to say if it weren't for how close to breaking her expressions was to you. It seems having two very high ranking individuals like Vice Master Alberad and Zarya just both randomly popping up out of nowhere is doing quite a number on her composure. Something that you can relate to with Milliana.

For a moment however you stay silent. No matter how many times would you get a chuckle in the future with how diverse these three's are at the time, for now their massively different reaction to your group's arrival had just caused something in your brain to just stop functioning. What should you even say in a situation like this?

"It's sad how obvious you all are." You mercilessly blurted out. Receiving sudden jerks from the two booth owners and a loud guffaw out of the white collared criminal.

Kennard and Milliana is practically sweating buckets now. Trying to futilely reassure you how there is nothing for them to be obvious of and how everything is just fine. Thankfully Zarya, and to an extent Cobe, with a sigh then managed to get the both of them to calm down. Something to further amuse Herman and to further aggravate Vice Master Alberad due to how pointless it all was.

"Now don't need to worry you two. We don't know the exact details of your situation, so we won't pry. Just please come to either the Temple or the Tower if you really need help."

"Yes, it would be no trouble for us."

"Let's all just enjoy the game, okay? I'll go three times."

"...." You swear you can see the stars in their eyes at that moment. While Milliana's reaction is far more subdued than Kennard, both of them are still, again, very obviously thankful of the Head Priestess. Completely ignoring the rest of you in favor of pleasing Zarya. A fact that seemed to have stupefied her fellow blunette to the point where all that she can do is to only laugh nervously at the notion.

"O-of course my Lady. Come on, Laguna! Faust! We need to have the course ready by yesterday!

"RIGHTO!! One set of the greatest Magic Hoops adventure will be ready for our lovely Sister Lynn! Prepared by yours truly! You will not be dissappointed with me creating them, Sister!"

"Did this happen often?" Cobe worriedly asked.

"More than what you want to know." Ominously answered Zarya.

Thus with the previous mood gone, the Elf then began to enthusiastically set up the hoops and the yellow colored targets for the game with the help of her Water Spirit Laguna. Kennard meanwhile is bursting a multitude of spells to illuminate the path being set up in the colours of black and white. Combining both of their efforts to create a beautiful night tapestry that is absolutely filled with yellow and white stars.

You then was pushed to go first by Zarya. You are the one who had been insisting on this game after all. With Cobe who can't play and how uninterested Alberad seems to be in the activity. The only players here are you and her.

Thus it is with eagerness in your gait did you take your position over the counter. After taking a few deep breaths to center yourself, you then began to gather and condense your mana into the shape of a ball in the middle of your hands. It is a dark convulsing sphere of destructive magic with lines of glowing violet that will devour anyhing that it could pull into it's deceptively small mass.

It is also completely under your control. Unlike the negative energy that had always felt wrong to you, the darkness could have never been more familar. It's presence inside you had always been one of comfort, and you had always trusted it to get the simplest of job done. This time would be no different.

Which is the reason why did you decided to release it to the course without giving it anytime to build up it's speed. There's simply no need to. Call it a Mage's pride, but you are confident in your skills with Dark Magic.

Once you get through it however, is when did you realize how it is going to be a little bit harder than what you had previously expected. Despite your earlier bravado, the ball had been moving slower and slower the longer it did stayed on the course. Destroying targets after yellow targets with much less intensity as the one before it.

You had been instructed in the arts of guiding your dark blast to move in curving and other odd like patterns in the past, but never had you done them this slowly and with such a sharp turn like what you are doing right now. The targets is also making it harder for you as well because, usually, the magic's role is finished after it had hit something in it's path. The task of maintaining it's density and attack power while it is being far away from you is actually much more easier said than done.

Your magic then accidentally skipped a target because you are being far too hasty, and for a moment there you thought you had failed, but slowly, ever so slowly, you brought it back to the one it had missed. Then once it had been in the right position, you then gave it back it's momentum. Making it easy for your magic to smash through the latest target and be on it's merry way once again. It being already in the latter half of the course.

It is hard to hear what the others are saying though the haze of your intense concentration, but you did faintly heard them. From beside you, Cobe is anxiously encouraging you to be far more careful while Zarya is cheerfully motivating you to just keep on going while holding tightly onto your shoulder. Even Kennard and Milliana wasn't doing idle as the game host with the mage narrating the progress of your magic in it's journey across the stars, and the Elf playing a flute for a dramatic background music. Creating an enggaging atmosphere where for a moment you had even managed to forget about all of your worries.

Alberad and Herman are the only ones who you couldn't hear. Though at this point you didn't care about them at all.

"Double V is now at the constellation's very top folks! After braving through countless battle againts the proud stars, the end is finally within sight. Will it fall here? Or will it gain a Nova!?"

You are now at the last course being set. Your magic is currently a couple of meters above your head, and while it is still smashing through each of the targets with ease, you can't deny how you are flagging right now. Both of your arms are feeling cramped after making them weave around dozens of times for a better ease at guiding your magic. You still have enough mana, but at this rate your weak constitution would be the end of you.

You can see the mentioned Nova, the supposed finish point and the last target of this attraction. It is a red target located at the very top of the dark ceiling of this large booth. It is close to your magic and you need to finish this now before you fall!

You can see a pattern in the course where you can blitz the rest of them in one go, but you only have one chance and it is now! So without hesitation you then released the restrain that you put on the magic contained within that ball. Letting it go faster and faster in destroying it's obstacles through to the path to your inevitable victory.

For a moment you just can't say anything. Truly being enraptured by the beauty the two owner of this attraction had prepared just for this day. By the time it hit you that you won however? All that you could say is....

"YES!!"

"AAAAND CONGRATULATIONS TO MISS VERA FOR BEING A WINNER!! Give her an applause everyone. Give. Her. An. Applause. I Say! She had won several magic potions of her own choosing and a single magic book written by yours truly. Wow, truly what an Amazing reward. Give it an A for Awesomeness!" Declared Kennard upon your victory. Still being as self centered as before this all had even started. Though it certainly wasn't that long.

The two blunettes of Zarya and Cobe are happily congratulating you on your victory. An effort you would have appreciated if it wasn't for how it was the one that had finally managed to break you away from the strange familiar excitement that you are in even before the game had even started.

Fortunately you managed to keep it under control. You then slowly began to detracting yourself from the converstation, and let Zarya play her turn with no worries about you whatsoever being present on her face. Cobe being pretty enggaged by the game itself even if it's only by watching someone play it is also pretty great. Hopefully with this they would have forgotten your behaviour from earlier.

Vice Master Alberad is silent through it all. Only nodding in apparant approval while giving you a light clappping at your success.

After everything had been said and done however you did need to get a move on. Your group had enjoyed Magic Hoops, but there is still one more place for you to go to. After saying your thanks to Kennard and Milliana you all then began to make your way towards the next attraction on your list. Pop Veggie. You wondered what it is going to be like.

"Yes, Miss Vera. Keep doing it like that. You are a natural in this." Encouraged the soft sounding voice that was coming from behind your back. Almost making you sniff at how pointless the praise was.

"Of course I am." Is your immediate response. Not even deigning to gave him a glance in favor of keeping your focus on the task before you. "Magic had always been my specialty."

"It sure does look like it." Is the only thing the Elf have to say. He then leaves you behind in order to check on the progress of Zarya and the others are making on their respective fast growing magical plants.

For a moment you thought you were being a far bit too impolite on the green haired Spirit User, but in the end you decided the ship had already long sailed and to leave it at that.

After playing the intense adrenaline fueled activity that was called Magic Hoops with Kennard and Milliana, your group was hoping for the next attraction to be something a little bit more casual. Something slow to calm down the pacing blood on the sweat soaked body of Zarya and yours.

Pop Veggie was deemed as perfect for that. According to the others, it was just something simple that the Elves did in order to pass time back in their forest filled home country. The booth's owner had only adjusted the cabbage like vegetables to be both more and less difficult to grow at the same time. More as the result will actually produces something that is of value instead of some mundane greenery, and less as others beside those who are Elfs are then capable of performing the action without using Spirits.

Then, just as your mind began to wanders into places, you took another long look at the Elf who is known as Firth Greenwood. The host of Pop Veggie is currently busy instructing Cobe in the correct ways for him to channel his mana with much more efficiency than what he was doing before. The man was pretty nice so far, explaining patiently to everyone the methods of how to actually play the game and then just keeps on helping you whether you had troubles or not, even the Vice Master himself seemed to acknowledge the elf druid well enough for him to also be participating in this growing game.

You even heard how Firth was also an important member within the Pharmacy who is going to supply the main attraction of this festival later on at the time of sunset.

It would be ideal for you to have a close relationship with a guy who has many connections in high places such as him. However-

-you just aren't really feeling it right now.

You don't know what is happening to you today. From the moment you had been experiencing the festival in full, your emotions had been going up and down without rhyme nor reason just with the tiniest bit of triggers. You had thought it was because of your negative energy, but at this point you worry it was for something else entirely.

It was due to this worry why did you decided to just clamp up on yourself. Watching your own actions with zeal for anything that might disturbed it.

Fortunately you managed to mask your on guard posture with your usual indifference attitude, seemingly managing to fool everyone except for Zarya who you had only met yesterday? it seems to be so much longer than that, and keep your and others concerns on the downlow.

Unfortunately however. This had the effect of making you practically unsociable like you had always been. Your words and responses to Firth are short, clipped, and to the point. Barring not a single emotion for anyone to parse through.

Firth himself doesn't show any obvious signs indicating that he was troubled by you, but judging by the glaring daggers that you could feel stabbing at the back of your head originating from where Vice Master Alberad is at the moment? You can tell you are currently tripping on yourself. Badly.

"You look troubled young Miss." Said someone with a deep sounding voice.

Something this guy of all people had noticed apparantly.

Slowly, to not break your concentration over the magic veggie, you raise your eyes to meet the ones belonging to the person who had just spoken to you, and immediately upon sight your interest was piqued by him. It was the man in black that you had seen earlier.

Like you, he is currently sitting in a cross legged position before his own potential middle grade item. His plant itself is, interestingly enough, also colored deep black just like yours is at the moment. Telling you how he has darkness for his attribute.

That was not what had took your attention however. No, what had took your attention is how you had actually recognize the black clothing that this person is wearing when you are this close to it.

It's not quite the same, but you could swear you had seen that kind of outfit many times before in the past. The knowledge is practically at the very tip of your tounge and it is driving you mad.

With your curiousity gnawing deep inside you, you then decided to throw the man and yourself a bone and just speak with him already. Though it wasn't long before you are wishing you hadn't.

"You are?"

"Ah, sorry for meddling, but I just can't help myself wanting to hear problems that is plaguing the mind of others. Just like the one you yourself seems to had young Miss. It comes with the cloth you see."

"Your cloth?

"Yes, my cloth. Though I had been doing it with a much lesser frequency as the years goes by. You see I am-" The man then pulled a book out of his clothes, and upon seeing it you can't help yourself but to widen your eyes in surprise. It's because you immediately knew who this man actually is only with one look at it.

"-called Father Franklin. I live on the Church just on the far corner of Mavis." Thus smiled kindly the Bishop of the Priestess you had just killed in yesterday night.

"Father Franklin!?" You then blurted out in alarm. Receiving a shocked look from the priest and gaining some brief attentions from others.

"Is there something wrong?" Asked Franklin to you in clear worry while pocketing his book back to under his clothes. Oblivious to how he is the reason why your heart had almost decided to just suddenly stopped beating, but his next question then had practically made it want to leap out of your throat. "Did you know of me?"

"-from Varon!" You finished with a low shout, then seeing how Franklin's surprised look was ladened with confusion, you continued. "The Twin's belief is pretty strong there. So imagine my surprise when I didn't see any signs of them when I had first arrived here in Mavis. That's why I was shocked by you being a Father. You are telling me there's a Church in this city?"

"Oh, you're a fellow believer then?" Excitedly asked the Bishop. Seemingly happy to see someone with the same faith as him.

You can't give him an easy excuse to drag you to a weekly mass or something however.

"Just a casual one, and even then, I haven't been praying seriously for a long time now." You casually responded. Mind beginning to calm down by him not attempting to purify you.

"That's too bad." Said the man wistfully before continuing. "If you ever want to change that then please come by to the Church. It was located not far from the Old Beastkin District, and the people there will show you the way if you asked them."

"Thank you, Father. I will think about it." You politely smiled to the Bishop. Releasing an internal sigh of relief by how he seemingly hadn't noticed anything.

Then, before either of you could say anything else, a curious Head Priestess from another religion comes by to the two of you. Asking the Bishop what is his intention with you are while circling her hands over your shoulder and neck. Making you nervously take a gulp of air as you are able to feel her supple body with your back.

Your attention however, were firmly towards the interaction between these two city religion leaders. Their relationship, from what you can see, is pretty amicable. They may act condescending to one other, but there's a joking undertone within each of their words.

"Hello there Farrow." Cheerfully said Zarya from right beside your ears. From the corner of your eyes, you can see how she had a wide smile on her face that is being directed at her Church counterpart. "It's nice seeing you here."

"Hmph. It's nice to see you too Lynn." Stoically replied the one who was apparantly named Franklin Farrow. It's subtle, but you think you can see his lips twitching upwards. "So this lady is with you?"

"Of course she is! This is Miss Vecna Vera, and as you can see, she is an M.T.A. I met her yesterday by the Temple." Said Zarya. Swiftly introducing you to the Bishop before doing the reverse. "Miss Vecna? This is Father Franklin Farrow of the Twilight House. He is the Bishop of Mavis. Don't worry. He may seems shady, but his heart is in the right place."

"Hm. A pleasure." You replied emotionlessly with a grunt. Trying to desparately get out of the blunettes armlock on your neck.

You failed.

"Believe me, Miss. It's all mine." Said Franklin with an obvious amusement on his face. He then returned his attention to the one who is choking you. "Still being very affectionate towards others, I see. Why, I could have mistaken every people within that temple of yours to have a relationship with each other."

Huh?

"Oh come on. It's only with those who we considers family." Pouted Zarya to the dark Priest before suddenly nuzzling you with her cheek. "Beside, Miss Vecna here just needs all the positive attention that she can get!"

For some reason, you feel saddened.

The Bishop, not knowing your internal confusion, then chuckled at what Zarya had said. His next words however had made you feel grateful for being held tightly for a moment by someone. It feels warm.

"True. She almost reminded me of Lily." Said Franklin fondly while looking at you. Prompting you to repeat the name outloud before his meaning then being explained by the Priestess.

"Lily?"

"Oh, she's that one Acolyte that had always been with you! Didn't she have a blond hair and is usually uncomfortable while being around others? I can definitely see their resemblance."

"She's the only Acolyte that I have, so yes." Nodded the Bishop. "Lily is a bright young girl who had lost her village years ago. The temple wasn't able to take her in at the time, so I welcomed her and a couple of others who share the same fate into the Church. Time passess, and in the end she decided to become an Acolyth under me while others had decided to go elsewhere."

"You sounded like you appreciated her quite highly." You blandly asked the man.

"If it weren't for her then I think my days would have become darker yet darker than it was today." Smiled the man warmly to you, and before you can think of a reply, he then perks up at the sight of something that is right below your field of vision. "Oh would you look at that?"

You followed his gaze, and you can see what it is that had caught his attention.

"Ohhhh! It's the sprout!" Excitedly exclaimed Zarya upon also beholding what it is that you are also looking. Apparantly during the whole conversation you had managed to keep channeling your mana into the cabbage.

The sprout looked like a gem, but only with a texture that of a seed. Even without touching it you can feel the large concentrated dark magic that is contained inside it.

You felt strangely proud at yourself.

"Yes, that's a fine specimen that you have there Miss Vera. One of the best that had been grown today too. Congratulations." Praised Firth who you hadn't noticed was nearby.

As a matter of fact, everyone is actually nearby. Apparantly you are the last one to finish, and Cobe along with Vice Master Alberad was just patiently waiting for you from not too far away. Looking at the now standing Zarya, you can see her posing for you while holding a bright blue cabbage on her hands.

"I see." You simply said while moving to stand along with the others. "So I am the last one?"

"Yes, you are." Said someone with an unfamiliar voice. "That one would make a good drink if you processed it carefully with others that is similar to it. Really making you feel like you are drowning in emotions."

Turning yourself around, you can see who it was that had spoken to you, and it was someone who you had almost forgotten. It was the mature lady that you had seen earlier along with Franklin.

"I am sorry?" You asked her while blinking. "Is there something that you need from me?"

Apparantly, she did. This woman is actually Miss Fortez. She is both the owner and the bartender of COO, as in the Clever Owl Outpost which is the high class adventurer bar that you had previously discovered long ago during your first months within the city.

According to her, she is waiting around here to buy Firth's cabbages that had been successfully grown directly from it's winners. She's going to have a big party tonight at COO and she would need a lot of graded eateable items like the cabbages to keep up with the likely demand.

The prices she is willing to buy yours though. You shuddered. The Core is worth the entire two months of your wage!

Though, eating processed graded items simply for the pleasure of taste? You have heard of it before, but had never actually seen it. Your teacher had called it Mixture. A technique that was used mainly by both a Potioner and an Alchemist.

In it's infancy, Mixture was used to make drinks that would introduce a high number of small different magical boost to the body instead of a few big ones that potions would usually do, but later on it was only known for by many as a fancy way for the rich to prepare the many different magical dishes that they ate.

It's actually a complicated technique, but not that complicated. Just by thinking about it for a bit you are sure you can-

-no you can't.

In the middle of your brainstorming that was swiftly followed by a dejection however you didn't miss how Father Franklin was currently leaving the area with his cabbage in tow, and apparantly not Miss Fortez either.

"Hey there, Father! How about you? Want to trade yours?" Asked loudy the female bartender. Not willing to let her prey escape that easily.

Though the Bishop's answer certainly makes her do exactly that, and honestly? So would you for an entirely different reason.

"Unfortunately I will be needing this cabbage Miss Fortez. You see, I haven't seen my dear little Acolyte this morning, and while I am not sure what kind of emergency did she has for her to actually miss the chance to go to the festival along with me, I am sure she will be happy to tell me all about it while I am holding a pot of delicious warm soup hostage for tonight's dinner. The little sunshine did always have a demanding stomach ever since she was young."

And with his reason having already being said, Father Franklin then walks away with excited steps towards the direction of the Church. Wanting to prepare his home for his Acolyte's return.

Franklin Fawkes. You thought with a frown before continuing. That man is going to be a problem.

It only has been merely an hour after your coincidental meeting with the dark haired Bishop at the Pop Veggie attraction and now the time is closely approaching one of sunset. After finishing your business with Miss Fortez, your group has then decided to head over to the main plaza to see to the climax of this year Akhti's festival. You mulling over the potential complications that the Priest could cause to yourself all the while.

It is clear to you how dearly Father Franklin did held Lily to his heart. So, obviously it is only going to be matter of time until the man would have eventually realized the long term departure of his precious acolyte, and then he surely would began an investigation for any signs as to her whereabouts.

A futile effort considering you had already killed the young Priestess in the night before today.

The problem is, despite the weakened status of the Church in Phione, the Bishop apparantly still had some kind of repute over the people of Mavis judging by his interaction with Zarya and Miss Fortez. Maybe it's not a strong one, but the old man definitely has the connections that he needed to get the word out about Lily's disappearance.

You had already erased any traces of the girl's death in the Church and your cellar is warded to prevent anything on the inside it from getting out to be detected. So the only methods left to find the girl's corpse then, as far as you know, will be by using a strong enough divination technique or though checking the Tower's record and finding out how you had been using magic where the girl had been last sighted.

The former, you can't do anything about, but reliable diviners were rare so it should be okay. Meanwhile for the latter, you can just simply erase any incriminating records of you from one of the Tower's many control room. It's about time you began to truly seep in your influence to the place anyway.

Hopefully Franklin would give up as the time passes, but you wouldn't bet on it. Any of these though? They are for you to worry about in the future because at this moment-

-I have something far more immediate to pay my attention to. You further though to yourself while observing the four new people who is currently talking pleasantly with Zarya.

"So I hope my newest Assistant hadn't caused you to have any new graying hairs, Sister Lynn?"

The first, you had already met. He is the Master of Mavis's Mage Tower, and the only person with an Expert Class strength within this city that you know of, Wilhelm Keyne. The man looks as free spirited as ever this evening. Giving away a lop sided smile to everyone he is talking to with his slouching, yet still imposing, form.

"Shush you! I am still in my twenties, so I wouldn't have those yet." Jokingly said Zarya. Seemingly not insulted by the insinuation, though twenties huh? Interesting.

With her youthful slender figure and how energetic the Head Priestess was during the day, you would have thought of her to be still in her teens.

Though maybe I weren't too far off....

Before you could thought anything further however, Zarya then continued her words to the city resident Expert Class. "As for Miss Vecna, then you don't need to worry about her Sir Wilhelm. She has been a treat."

"I can give you the full report of Miss Vera's conduct at the later debriefing, Tower Master." Stoically said Alberad while giving you a stern look from the corner of his eyes. Almost making you sweat nervously while causing Wilhelm to let out a single loud laugh.

"I will definitely wait for that!"

"Come on Master, Vice Master." Lazily said someone with a rich, throatly voice. Prompting you to shift your attention to him. "We don't need to be too harsh on the newbie don't we?"

He is the second new person who had been talking with Zarya. His name is Isaac de Meurdac, Alan's father. You don't know much about him beside him also being an Observator, but he seemed to have a lot of respect from the people around you even after disregarding the fact of how he is a noble. Though you can't help but compare him to a drunkard. He looked like a nicely dressed one.

"NONSENSE!" Bellowed someone with a bold gravelly voice. Snapping your gaze towards where it had originated from. "You always have to discipline the green horns, Brother Isaac! How can they have learned from us otherwise?"

This old man is the third new person who had caught your eye. He had brought along around half a dozen other armored people with him, but there's simply no possible way for you to not focus most of your attention on him. He is Ricardo Bevis, and he served as the Head Captain of Mavis City Guards. Your impression? He is loud, boisterous, and annoying. You want him to drop dead right this instant.

Isaac sadly doesn't share your irritation. Simply shaking his head lightly at Ricardo with a soft mirtful smile. "Whatever it is you said old man."

You want to grit your teeth. What is this? A mock Vecna Vera discussion? The others wasn't much better, even Zarya is giggling at you right now!

"While this has been fun." Coolly said someone with a smooth husky voice. Making you blink at the source as they had somehow makes your heart skipped for a beat. "I think we had diverged from our innitial topic."

This blue haired young man is the last person who had attracted your eye. Unlike the other two, you had actually heard of him before. He is Linnaeus Neeladri, the acting Mayor of Mavis City and is the person who had the highest authority around here unless there is an emergency. He is the one who had put the restriction on the festival due to his concerns for the people and had almost been visited for it by an irate Mary.

"I guess we indeed have, Sir Neeladri." Agreed Ricardo with a firm nod before continuing with a much more serious tone. "By now, my men should have already been spreaded out across the entire city. They are on the gates, on the walls, on the roads, on the roofs, and even on top of each other. No stinking criminals could escape their gazes if they dared to take even a single piss on where they don't belong. On that, I can guarantee you, Sir."

Funny, you thought you can hear Herman's laughter from somewhere over the distance.

Linnaeus, not knowing of your internal doubt, then gave a nod of approval to the Guard Captain. Praising him for his efforts, before addressing Wilhem for the next matter on the list. "Good job Ricard, I know I can always put my trust in you. How about you Wil? Any progress on the Boil?"

"If you asked me about the supplier, then good news. The guy may be cautious, but he's an amateur at covering his tracks. There's a common mana residue potentionally belonging to the supplier that we have found on all of the drugs we had confiscated. Through them, we were able to trace down many of the gathering hubs these guys has been using. Letting us be able to massively narrow down his likely hiding hole. We should be able to nab the guy before the year's ended." Confidently answered Wilhelm before grimacing at what he is going to say next. "But. If you asked me about whether have we cracked the Boil High drug itself then unfortunately, it would be a big no. We have made some major headways on creating a method to cure those who had been turned feral by it, but as for figuring out what exactly the strange green liquid actually is then we haven't even be able to tell it's heads or tails yet."

The Mayor doesn't look very happy upon hearing that. "Any possible reason as to why?"

"Nothing concrete." Helplessly shrugged the Tower Master before explaining himself further. "From what we have learned from Boil High's biological and magical composition, it's creator shouldn't have been somebody who is above Adept level. Yet, there's something inside it that is stymieing both me and my entire research team. We suspect it to be the drug's main ingredient and is the reason why it can stimulate the Beastkin's cell to react in such an aggressive and bizarre manner."

"How can it be so strange?" Asked Zarya in confusion to which Wilhelm then spend no time in clarifying with a grim tone.

"We think that it is one of those esoteric materials that is usually either one of the kind or has some very specific creation critteria. We also expected it to be one of the Legacy Class."

Everyone, and even you, then let out a surprised gasp at that revelation. If Wilhelm's earlier assestment is true, that being the creator is only at most an Adept, then that means you have somebody in the city who is crazy enough to mess around with something that is two grade's higher than their actual competence. Which is dangerous for everybody involved.

Everything in Altaria has power inside them. Whether they are weak, strong, new, or old is the only question. Power is the one true deciding factor to determine where did you stand in the world's hierarchy and everyone has, no, must respect that.

Those who didn't....those who was tempted by the power beyond their control must exercise great care in what they are doing with it or else they will suffer consequences that is equal in scale to what they had wronged.

A single misstep in an experiment and suddenly an entire landscape could be gone.

"By the Six we are dealing with a madman." Worriedly muttered the Mayor upon understanding the full situation.

CLAP!!

"So!" Suddenly said Zarya with a loud handclap. Then, after she had gained everyone's attention, she continued. "Let's discuss about something that is more light hearted than being suddenly blown up to Cormac's waiting room, shall we? How about the visiting Dwarfs? Wasn't it Sir Linnaeus and Sir Isaac who had been welcoming them? How are they like?"

Isaac, after giving the Head Priestess a few surprised blinks, then let's out a throaty chuckle at the very blatant attempt of lightening the mood. Something that he likes judging by the joking nature in his answer.

"They're just a bunch of hard to impress drunkards."

"How so?" Further asked Zarya with a curious smile which the red head then gladly answered.

"They won't stop drinking the wines that I gave them despite constantly shouting how bad they were!"

"Just like you then, Brother?" Asked Richard.

"Exactly!"

And just like that, the tense atmosphere that was hanging around in the air earlier is gone. Disappearing as quickly as it come with the laughters of Mavis five possibly most influential people signing it's end. Something that you don't understand. At all.

You furrowed your brows in confusion and agitation while watching their behavior. Why are they joking around in a time like this? Didn't they had just discussed how grim the situation is right now? There's a high of the city exploding due to somebody being an absolute moron! All of you are in danger. You are in danger. Your Sister is in danger. Can't they understand that!?

You want to talk. Demand. Ask. Hear. Learn some more about this idiot. You wanted to know just who is going to die after endangering your Sister like this and then thought they could get away with it. All so you could bash their skull with their own spine.

But that doesn't mean you could just walked up to them and ask them for it.

You are now an MTA. More importantly, one that is truly on duty with being a guard. Unlike the previous hours where you can just casually talk with Zarya, you are now expected by decorum to stay silent unless being spoken to and be as obscure as possible because people who is far more important than you are talking.

Looking around, beside Vice Master Alberad who you had almost forgotten, there's a lot of Assistants and Guards around you that has been staying mostly silent through the entire discussion. Even the rest of team 8 is here.

You, and Cobe has been mostly standing around behind Zarya while acting as props. Alberad meanwhile is also doing the same, but with Wilhelm instead.

Alan, Aaron, and Kiera is positioned a couple of meters away in order to block off the slowly increasing crowd within the main plaza that you are in.

Dawn, Elisen, and a woman who you didn't recognize is standing on the nearby rooftop serving as everyone's bird's eye view for the surrounding area.

To put it simply, you have a well established role in this place as an escort and a thoughtless question is not worth the repercussions that you would surely receive if you were to break it. Alberad has been disastified with you enough times already.

Though that doesn't mean I couldn't do anything. You thought while slowly examining the five people who you are supposed to be protecting.

With their level of status, there should be something quite interesting on their person that would definitely caught your eye. Not just some simple equipment too, those you can see as plain as day, but something that has a unique purpose added in it's making. Something that is different from the others.

All that you need to do to found one is to simply pay more attention.

Would you look at that? You did found something.

Frustratingly, it was only a clue of one, you haven't found the item itself quite yet. Though it's likely use would be immensely useful if your deduction is correct.

Linnaeus Neeladri. This man may actually be more unlike the others than what you may have thought. His complexion is healthy and smooth, still carrying the vigor of youth, unnaturally so if you considered his apparant age which you have heard from Mary. The others are treating him quite differently from Zarya too for that matter.

There's a chance the mayor just look's younger in his golden years like the High Priestess is, but you are sure it is actually due to him possessing an item that slows down his aging.

The journey to become a Master is hard and treacherous, often needing decades for those who do have achieved it. Often times age itself is the greatest enemy with many passing away with their own weakened flesh being the one who had hindered them the most.

As a Necromancer, you always have the option of becoming a Lich to gain a psuedo-immortality. So you don't really need to worry about this problem as much as the rest of your peers. Though you do want to avoid becoming one however. From what your teacher had described, becoming a Lich sounded like an eternal torture. Becoming a walking talking skeleton in a nation with a very tight security like Phione also doesn't sound like a good idea.

Which is the reason why an item that could provide you with another option of not becoming a croaking limping grandma beside by becoming a Lich is so tantalizing to you.

I need to figure out what does it look like first. You plotted within your mind before swiftly switching track as Vice Master Alberad, who hadn't spoken a single word for a while, had suddenly began to make a move.

Random Event Roll: 88

The pale Elf seems to be hearing something from the communication crystal he is holding. You can't hear what it is currently being said due to how faint they are, but judging by the frown that is forming on the Vice Master's face, it's not something good.

Noralf Alberad then began to walk with purposeful steps towards his Tower Master, instantly cutting down the ongoing conversation between the five, and then began to softly whispers something to his ears. The Expert Class's expression going darker and darker the more that he heard from his right hand man.

"I see." Blandly said Wilhelm upon hearing everything that the Elf have to say. "That's certainly is a problem."

"What is, Brother Wilhelm?" Asked Ricardo.

"It is not something to be speak aloud in an open place like this, but I do need you to come with me and with my Vice Master over here for it Guard Captain."

The armored men expression then turned resolute after hearing how Wilhelm had called him in such a manner. After giving a firm nod, the three of them and several others then began to make their way to leaving the area, but before they could actually do so a certain blunette priestess then stopped them in their tracks.

"Wait all of you are leaving already?" Wondered Zarya before continuing. "The event is just about to start."

And it is. Your current location is elevated a couple of feet higher than the rest, being on one of the sides of the circle shaped plaza that has a downhill center, and from here you can easily see the almost finished preparation on the stage where a mixed group of people from both the Tower and the Apothecary are going to safely showcase to the celebrating crowd a rare sight of something that is related to their highly praised fire plant monster. Something that wasn't normally being done and something that people definitely shouldn't want to miss.

"Is it really that urgent?" Asked Linnaeus in concern in which Wilhelm can only gave him a wry smile.

"Very. Don't worry though. The three of us should be enough to handle them. I'll leave Isaac and the others here incase something happened."

Off then they go after Wilhelm had said that. Both of the blunette seemed to be still pretty concerned about what is actually going on, but Isaac just lazily told them to just watch the show and to don't be worrying themself about it too much. He trusted the three to take care of it pretty easily.

You wanted to follow them as it is pretty likely has something to do with Boil, but you haven't been called to assist them. So all that you could do is to suck up and then watch the rest of the event unfold itself. The monster itself is also finally ready, and to your surprise, you actually recognize the dangerous plant that is being brought up on top of a carriage. It's a fully grown up Fire Lily with the size of a small house that can often be found in the mountainous region of Karrion and rarely in the western side of Varon.

You began to truly watch the exhibition with an ever increasing curiousity as the show host then began to explain to the crowd what a Fire Lily actually is to the world at large. How they are a very special carnivorous plant that hunted their prey by sensing their surrounding heat, not the heat of the prey itself, and then attacks them using a combination of whipping roots and fire balls. A species that can almost be considered as Unique, a Monster Rank that is a step above High and only those with an Expert Class capability can only handle alone safely. Otherwise you would need either a team of Adepts or a full blown squadrons of Novices.

She also explained how this one is currently in it's breeding season.

Oh....

You watched, completely transfixed by wonder, as the Host then waved her staff in a certain pattern towards the Fire Lily. Making it swayed and kyuuued in response. The flames on it's crown and stems then began to dim, no, being directed to somewhere else. To the bud, to the red core at the center of the flower. All of the heat and fire seemed to have gathered there and it is pulsing as if it is somehow not being able to contain it for long.

The Fire Lily, with a red illumination of the setting sun as it's background, then released a beautiful cry along with it's glowing core into the sky. You can see how there are now waves of flickering flames that are dancing around it, but your attention was completely focused on the airborn core/seed? and thus you are able to see how it was then captured in the air by the stationed flying Mages who then began to guide it using magically directed winds back to the stage, where a large pot of steel was already being prepared in advance.

The glowing red seed then softly landed on the pot which is placed right before the host. Wasting no time, the woman then began to swiftly cover the seed with dirt that was already inside the pot before sprinkling it with some kind of glowing water from an ornate bottle that she carried. That done, she then backed up a couple of steps away from it before she and several others then started to shoot some fire spells towards the inside of the pot. Making a campfire on top of it to the utter shock of the gullible crowd.

Just when you began to wonder what they are going to do next, the campfire then abruptly burned itself out. For a moment everyone is breathless, thinking that something wrong had happened, but then the pot shakes.

Slowly, almost shyly. A new plant is growing out of the pot in an abnormal speed. First it was only a bud, then the stems, and before long you are seeing a second Fire Lily that is currently have reached man sized in height. Looking exactly like a miniature version of it's progenitor, which looks like it is exhausted beyond belief, right beside it.

The newborn then released a small kyuu. Looking, dare you say it, absolutely adorable as it shakes it's crown left and right in confusion at it's surrounding.

Judging by how loud the crowd had AWWWD at the young flower. This show can be considered as a complete success.

"So." Said Zarya who is somehow right beside you. After breaking you out of your trance, she then continued. "Did you have fun?"

For a moment all that you could do is to silently gape at the pleased looking blunette, but you found her smile to be infectious as you shortly gave her a smile of your own in return.

"I guess I am." You said, before noticing how there's now a can that had just randomly rolled into your feet.

You stared at it, but before you could do anythi-

"AHHHHHHH!" Screamed the crowd.

"-Uhuk!!-aHoK-! Uhuk-uhuek!!-" You erratically coughed along with everyone else while shambling around in places. Green smoke is everything that you can only see, but before long your visibility is returned along with being face blasted by a powerful gust of wind. The work of Wind Mages you thought, but by then it was already too late.

"Ahh?....ahHhG!?......GRAAAHHHHHH!!!" Roared one of the civilian Beastkin that is near where you had wandered into, and before you could even think just what is wrong with him, suddenly he lunged himself at you with his claws aiming at your throat!

"Akhh!?" You screamed in surprise and pain while clutching at your now bleeding left arm. While you had managed to dodge his first strike, you aren't able to do the same on the one that followed.

You glared at Beastkin that had injured you. The bastard is now crawling on all fours while growling and snapping at you as if he had reverted back to become an animal that he is. Looking completely out of his mind.

You throw a Dark Blast at him.

He was blown into the wall where he then proceeds to not move again after struggling for a bit.

"Serves you right you damn animal." You swore under your breath before hearing a loud thud from behind you.

Quickly turning yourself around, you see it was actually a smug looking Aaron with a collapsed Beastkin on his feet. Seemed like you need to pay more attention to your surrounding. For now however....

"Thanks." You said to him before launching a Dark Blast at his direction. Making him dodge with wide eyes to the side and allowing your attack to hit a Beastkin that had just about to pounce on him from behind. "Now we're even."

"Ahahaha...can you just warn me?" Nervously laughed the Karrionian after seeing what you had been aiming for.

"No." You said emotionlessly while also quickly approaching him. Dark magic already humming ominously once again in your right palm. Ready to counter the next suicidal fool to come at you.

"Maybe you should tone down your attacks a bit."

"Why?"

"Because we aren't supposed to kill them?" Aaron said with confusion while putting his back againts yours. Making you want to swear at the restriction your job is placing on you.

"I will try." You noncommittally said to him instead while also beginning to assess your surrounding. He replied with just a hum of acknowledgement.

The plaza had been thrown into a complete chaos in a short time you had been incapacitated. Seemingly all Beastkin in the area had turned feral by that green smoke, which is obviously some sort of Boil High variation, and then they subsequently attacks everyone within their range which also includes other Beastkin. The Guards and the MTOs are trying to control the situation, but just like Aaron, they were hindered by their duty to not attack with an intention to kill towards the innocent people who they have sworn to protect. It will take time for them put an order to this madhouse.

For you however? All of them are unimportant. Why should you care about some random people? What you should think about right now is: How can you gain something out of this whole debacle?

There is opportunity to be gained here. Within this pit of senseless violance something important is happening. Someone had wanted this to happen for a reason, and you can exploit that for yourself if only you knew what it is they are aiming for.

The problem is, how can you find the golden goose in the middle of all this trash?

Stewardship Check: What is going on?
DC: 30/60/80

Fortunately you have a pair of a pretty good discerning eye.

First of all is the rest of your team. It's easy enough to find them as they are all still on the same place that you were at before. Elisen, Alan, and a couple of other Assistants is currently fighting head on the onslought of Beastkins that are circling them. Trying to protect the ranged attackers which also includes Dawn, Kiera, that unknown Observator woman, and Cobe? He looks weakened, but how did he? Ah you received your answer by Alan flinging an unconcious Beastkin that he had beaten to the center of their formation straight to Zarya, who then wastes no time in engulfing the Beastkin in a dome of pure water. Extracting something green from them that wriggled for a second or two before the blunette then purified it in an instant with a flash of bright blue light.

Regrouping and then fighting alongside them to prove your value is an option. You knew your integration with team 8 could have gotten better, and just like what your teacher had said. Fighting together for your lives is the fastest way to make someone put their trust in you.

That, however, sounded like a consolation prize to you. Thus you take only a second or two longer to look at them before moving your gaze elsewhere.

The next thing that took your attention is the stage in the middle of the plaza. The place hasn't been spared of the violance either. Even the Fire Lily, being greatly weakened after it has layed it's offspring, isn't strong enough to fend off the multitudes of claws that was leveled againts it as you can see it lay limply on the ground, looking like it had been mauled into submission.

The newly grown Fire Lily meanwhile is no where to be seen.

You snapped your tounge in annoyance at that. You could have used a small High Rank monster that is full of life in your experiments.

Though, there are other attention grabbing things that is on the plaza right now. You just haven't been able to process it quite yet, because your mind is too busy screaming: Who in Inferno had let a Monster into the City!!?

True, right now it doesn't look very threatening as it had been burned quite badly by Isaac, but just how did someone be able to smuggle that thing here!? Is there a secret tunnel somewhere that you didn't know about!?

Before you could rage further inside the privacy of your own mind however, the Monster then proved itself to have a functioning survival instinct by retreating from the fight that it has with the Flaming Observator. Bulldozing everything that is on it's way to an alleyway where it can then escape.

Isaac seemed to think about giving it a chase for a second or two, but then he decided not to before beginning to subjugate the rampaging Beastkins around him.

"HEY!! Come back here, you bastard!!" Shouted someone with a familiar voice which prompted you to snap your gaze towards the source.

It is actually Char. The feline Beastkin who you had met once during your first mission. You can't really tell what he is feeling right now what with the scarf that he is using to cover the underside of his face, but you can hear how angry he is from the constant swearing that he used while he followed the Monster down into the alley.

You....think that's just about it. Now for what you are going to do.

(You have 5 Health and 1 Wound)

(You have a Body Strengthening Potion that will increase your Martial score by 5 for five battle turn or DC Check)

(You have a Soul Health Potion that will recover 1 Spiritual Wound in three battle turn)

(You have Aaron Marudeva. An Earth Wizard Sandmancer specializing in Curses at your side)

[ ] Go and bring Aaron with you to rejoin with the rest of team 8. Attacking every Beastkin that approaches with Dark Grasp. Once you met back with them then act strictly as support, giving covering fire for the rest of your teammates when they are in danger.

[ ] Chase Char and the Monster down into the alleyway. Leave Aaron behind and attack anyone who would hinder you with Dark Blast. Make sure to follow them from the distance to see where are they going.

[X] Go and bring Aaron with you to rejoin with the rest of team 8. Attacking every Beastkin that approaches with Dark Grasp. Once you met back with them then act strictly as support, giving covering fire for the rest of your teammates when they are in danger.
-[X] Try to avoid causing fatal wounds.

"Let's go back to the others." You said to Aaron. Already moving away to do exactly what you had just said. The Karrion Mage response is to chuckle at your words before swiftly following.

"What else will it be?" And with that, both of you are off. Fearlessly entering the Plaza's chaotic melee in order to meet up with the rest of your teammates, and encountering your next maddened Beastkins soon after.

There are 6 of them, 5 Male and 1 Female. All busy either trying to intimidate each other or chasing after panicking Non-Beastkins. From their clothes they seemed to be just ordinary civilains before all this, but to your eyes they only serve as an annoyingly brittle obstacles for you to move pass through.

In fact, there's far too many of them around for your liking. Judging by what Aaron's next words to you are, he is also inclined to agree.

"I'll take the two on the right, you the left, and then we handle the rest!?" Shouted the Earth Mage while tilting his body downwards as he ran just beside you. The ground he touches with his hand then immediately turning into streams of sand that travels up his arm. The sand spinning dangerously fast all the while.

You don't bother to give him a reply. Your actions of attacking the assigned target on the left with Dark Grasp answered it all for you.

The Beastkins reactions to the two of you are slow. They not noticing how they are being attacked before it is all too late. A gaping maw of literal darkness and a blast of glittering golden sands having no troubles whatsoever in hitting two of their number, and before the other four could do anything, another volley of the same magic from both you and Aaron had already claimed another two. Leaving a single pair of angrily snarling Beastkins as the only remaining threat still standing.

You began to charge for another magical attack on your non injured hand, as the last pair had apparantly gained a little bit of confidence boost seeing by how they are doing a straight up mad dash at you. Rapidly closing in the distance between you and them. Before you released it however, something had happened to caught your interest and it is the state of those who had been hit by the Sandmancer.

They were now fast asleep. You presume due to a curse that Aaron had somehow dealt to them. You don't know how he had done that however as he is nowhere near the two to cast one properly, and the notion of him already having some of their body parts to use as a focus is just too ridiculous to consider. Not to mention with Slumber which is already a fairly difficult curse to begin with. Did he somehow used his sand to help him do it?

The effects on the ones being hit by your Dark Grasp however, is pretty normal, and somewhat to be expected. That being, the Beastkins screeching in pain the moment their upper bodies had been engulfed by your dark magic. Not even a painful slam to the ground is enough to stop their screams from continuing. They may thrash around however much they want, but the darkness now hungered for their flesh, and will never let them go that easily. Binding them to the ground as if they are being cocooned by a particularly lively set of black spider webs.

Though, you seemed to have distracted yourself a little bit too much this time as the last pair had finally come close to you then. From this distance, you can clearly see how one of them are a middle aged man with tiger part's while the other is a teenage brown cat girl.

The first, landed himself right in front of you after a particularly impressive leap on his part. Roaring ferociously while trying to rip your face into shreds. It is then, did you release the magic that you had been holding onto him. Which the man then had somehow avoided by suddenly bending himself 180° backwards with a snarl before retreating even further by taking a couple of steps back from you.

You quickly try to smash his face in with another dose of Dark Grasp before he could get away, which is a fatal error on your part. The cat girl that that you had forgotten then seems to find your back to be a nice looking perch for her to land her feet on. Though maybe it's a bad one as you can hear her hissing while she tried to claw your face off from your head.

"Get off me!" You angrily shouted to the feline as you moved yourself around trying to get rid of her from your body. An effort which you succeeded in doing. At a cost of making yourself open for a retaliatory strike from the tiger man.

"Gukh!?" "Miss Vecna!" You grunted in pain while hearing Aaron's concerned shout for you. The tiger man doesn't waste the opening that had been given and had immediately slashed your chest with his sharp dagger like claws before retreating yet again. An attack that would have been a lot more devastating if you weren't wearing a set of MTA uniform on you that had blocked the most out of the damage being given.

That's it! You thought to yourself while quickly charging for a twin Dark Grasp on each of your palms. Ignoring how it makes the wound on one of them ache and then immediately sending it after the two.

The tiger man wasn't able to dodge your attack this time around while the cat girl did, but she is now the one who had leave herself wide open by foolishly jumping high into the air. Voiding her maneuverability for a moment while she is airborn. A fact that you used to your fullest advantage by curving your magic at her with a twist on your arm and a little bit of effort on will. Adding a single higher note ladened with surprise and an extra to the melody of agony that was already playing in the air.

"You're a ruthless one aren't you Miss Vecna?" Noted Aaron while he observed the girl fall from the sky with a painful screech, both of you running pass the rest of the entrapped Beastkins in the meantime all the while watching them for any signs of them breaking free. "When you had said how you have a binding technique during one of the team meetings that we had, this isn't quite what I had imagined them to be. Just where had you learned this?"

"From Varon obviously." You replied with a grunt while tenderly touching your stomach. They were useful in subduing the targets of your experiment quickly if only for a moment before you knocked them out unconcious. Your teacher had said sometimes you will need a still breathing one to make progress. "They will get out of it soon enough. Let's move!"

"Of course, of course." Said Aaron before trailing down after you. You had somehow seemed to avoid the worst out of the melee, and your destination is now pretty close. Only requiring you to get past another set of enemies for you to reach it.

There's only four of them now. A much more manageable number than before, but for some reason Aaron is determined to be the one who will take them all in.

"How about I'll be the one who'll take the lead this time? Let me show myself off before we reunite with the rest?" Offers the Earth Mage with an inquisitive smile on his face. Sands already spinning like a drill on his left hand.

"Okay?" You don't know his exact reason for it, but if he want's to be the one to take the blows in case his curses failed to make them go to sleep then you let him have it.

Before any of you could do anything however, a single pair of Beastkins that you were facing then was suddenly being blown away by something. A shout from your leader's being enough to indicate who is the cause of it.

"Aaron! Miss Iza! Come here!" Ordered Elisen from the encirclement of Guards and MTA's as she draws for another arrow from her quiver. Zephyr turning itself corporeal briefly at her side to seemingly add a wind attribute to the arrow.

"Many thanks, Elisen!" Yelled Aaron with gratitude as he throws a batch of golden sand at the disoriented pair of Beastkin. Swiftly making them fell asleep while you are busy trying to kite in the other pair with multiple weak burst of Dark Blast to the ground around them. Making it easy for him to manipulate his sand to fall down onto them from the sky after he had send another batch of it right above their flailing heads.

"Are all of you alright?" Asked Elisen in concern as you and Aaron finally reaches the area they had been guarding, others making cover for the three of you to talk uninterrupted. There's a bit of a wound mark on the Elf's left side that had been healed, but aside from that she seems to be relatively untouched all things considered. She let out a sigh of relief when the both of you replied in negative, though a question that she had next does makes you want to raise an eyebrow. "Did any of you see Cobe?"

"I thought I saw him here?" You asked her in return. Ignoring how Zephyr is making faces in your direction.

"He was, but he then went on his own saying he found a suspect in the crowd. I want to chase after him, but these unfortunate people just keep on denying me the opportunity."

A suspect? Does Cobe means Char? "I think I know where he had gone off to."

"Truly? Then let us-" Said Elisen brightly before taking one closer look at your half mauled form that is full of scratches. "-Miss Iza, you are not alright! Hurry and go on inside. Sister Lynn might be occupied, but Dawn is not so. Please heal yourself first, before considering joining me. I can find Cobe all by my own and will depart shortly."

And with that being said, the Spirit user then ushered both you and Aaron to the area behind her. Confirming your suspicion of Phione being a lot less violance prone than Varon. She must have known you had already stopped the bleeding with your mana, which while it might not be getting better anytime soon, it would not get any worse either. Yet she still worry herself too much about it. An assault this overt inside the city must be practically unheard of to her.

You stay silent, and let yourself be pushed however. This is just another fact for you to use at a later date, and you do want to take a breather after fighting your way through almost a dozen of Beastkins.

Vecna and Aaron had rejoined with team 8

"Aaron! Vecna! There you are!" Exclaimed Dawn in surprise and relief once she seen the both of you emerging from the line of defenders. Running up to you with Alan close behind her.

"Looks like you haven't died by wasting your time saving that girl, Aaron." Snided Alan with a fold of his arms. Which was then received in good humour by the Earth Mage.

"You know I won't kick the bucket that easily." Smiled Aaron with a wry expression before continuing. "Also, Miss Vecna can handle herself pretty well out there. Took out four Beginner Class on her own just fine."

Alan's response to that remark is to take one unimpressed look at your current pathetic state. Which the Sandmancer can't do anything about beside chuckling nervously while rubbing his cheek "I don't see it."

Dawn however, don't have any patience for any of this infuriating exchange of theirs.

"Now that is enough out of the two of you!" Rebuked the Light Mage with a scolding tone before turning towards you. "We don't have any time for all of this. Vecna, I can see your arm. Give it to me so that I can fix it."

You want to, but...."Wouldn't that take a while?"

"It will be faster than what the others can give, but yes it will. Why?"

"I don't need it then. I will be fine like this."

"Wha-? Why!?"

"I want to prove myself. Treat somebody else." You blandly said to her. Making the Healer splutter in incredulity at your words and prompting Alan to give you an ultimatum.

"You better soon decide how then." Uttered Alan while giving a side glance towards somewhere further into the safe zone. "Just like what Dawn had said earlier; This needs to stop, now. Everyone here also thought the same. The leading Observator, one Sonia Huberta, is going to leave soon with most of the battle ready combatants that we have and will start actively subduing the infected Beastkins as fast as possible. I will be joining them in this endeavor"

You turn over your gaze to the direction where he was looking at. Managing to see the unknown silver haired woman who you had seen earlier with Elisen and Dawn. She is commanding many of the MTA's and MTO's around and indeed will seems to be departing soon for battle.

"Dawn here meanwhile was going to support Kiera before the two of you arrived." Motioned the red head towards the Potioner who is still trying to persuade you to be healed. "If either of you want to stay here then better do so with the both of them."

You consider your options while giving him a nod of acknowledgement, and then decided to....

[ ] Accept Dawn's offer of being healed, and then fighting alongside her in defending the safe zone as support for Kiera.

[ ] Assist Elisen in her efforts to find Cobe. It's very unlikely for you to find him since he was long gone, but maybe you can find something in his trails?

[ ] Assist Observator Sonia in subjugating the rest of the Maddened Beastkins alongside Alan. This will be the hardest option, but it is the best chance for you to show others what you can really do.

I need to do a couple of rewrites on this one, but I finally managed to create one that I was satisfied with after cutting it down for a bit.

Also, congratulations! With Sonia here, you all had finally met with every single character that I had prepared for the tower. Any named ones after this will only be one offs barring a very specific circumstances.

It would be better for me to find Cobe. You thought to yourself after thinking about all the possibilities.

The one who you want to lower their guard the most in Team 8 is Elisen. Among the Five, she definitely will become one of your hardest obstacle in pursuing any further Necromantic advancement in the future what with Zephyr on her side at all times. At the very least, with this, you want to gave her a reason to not suspect you about what your real Profession is by getting close with her.

A possible chance to gain more intel on the Boil High's supplier also sounds intriguing.

"I will go with Miss Alberad." You indifferently said to the three before turning yourself around to find your chivalrous Elven leader. It just won't do for you to arrive late and then miss her, wouldn't you? Before you do so however, Dawn then takes a hold of one of your arm, stopping you in your tracks.

"Before you go and do something stupid." Uttered the brunette in consternation the moment you turn your gaze upon her. Next, she then began to quickly caress the areas where your injuries are with her softly glowing palm, the pain you feel on them receding as she does so. "This isn't enough to make them better, but you can do without the aches, right?"

"I do." You said to her once you had retracted your arm, noting how the wounds had been properly sealed this time unlike your previous poor attempt, before continuing. "Thanks."

"Your welcome." Grinned Dawn before hurrying towards one of defender's line, a cry of someone being downed proving itself to be enough to make the Novice Healer go rushing. Something Aaron then chuckled at the sight of.

"Guess I'll be going with the mother hen then." Wryly said the Sandmancer before continuing. "Now, be careful you two. They may be weak, but there's a lot of them. Don't let your guard down and be swarmed."

Having said his piece, the Karrion Mage then began to make haste in following after Dawn's trail before she could make much of a distance. Leaving you alone in the crowd with one Alan de Meurdac for the first time since ever.

Something the red head, and you, doesn't feel very enthusiastic about judging by him shortly beginning to make his way towards Observator Sonia. Though not before throwing in one last question at you.

"So what is your reason for wanting to go with Elise?" Asked Alan in a strange tone before explaining himself further. "Proving your worth with an empty audience is quite a tall task."

Diplomacy Check: What should you say?

"I can't just leave my partner behind, couldn't I?" Is what you had answered the Noble with instead of your true reason as to why. He responded by stopping in his steps for a brief second to give you a glance before silently resuming his path.

_ _ _

"I am much obliged to you, Miss Iza, for joining me in this endeavor of mine." Thanked Elisen as she ran alongside you. You can't see her expression very well from this angle, but her words seemed to be genuine. "With your aid we surely shall be able to find Cobe before something ills befell him."

"No problem." You responded simply to the Elf, eyes busy scanning for potential enemies that would hinder both of your path.

The Spirit User had been slightly dubious of bringing you along when she saw you haven't yet fully recovered, but you did have somekind of a lead and time is just not something that she can afford at the moment. You have met a few of her kind before, the personality; not the race of course, and they usually would go above and beyond if it concerns the safety of those under her charge.

Something Elisen is not an exception of based on what her next words to you is. "So you are certain that Cobe would go after this Char?"

"He is the only 'Suspect' who comes to mind that I have seen together with Cobe recently." You answered her with a nod, already done explaining to your leader the circumstances regarding your first encounter with the feline Beastkin. Or just how little there was. "Any ideas as to why would he be this reckless?"

After waiting for a moment or two without receiving even a single answer, you thought that Elisen also didn't have a clue, but soon after she finally decided to speak about what she does know. Her hesistance to say them to you however, is pretty obvious.

"Our Cobe had always had a strong opinion on the relationship between Beastkins and the other races." Vaguely explained the Elven Ranger as the two of you gave a wide berth on a battle between a Guard and some Beastkins. "It is a long tale, but please understand that it has something to do with his past in the Northen Land of Iskaldin. It is better for us to speak of this at a later venture, Miss Iza."

"I see." You actually don't, but you can't just say that to her face, can you? Elisen clearly still wasn't comfortable with you enough to talk about her teammates sensitive information. Which is fine. This is exactly the problem that you wished to resolve by volunteering to go along on this mission of hers.

Something which you can soon start seeing by how there are some undistracted Beastkins that are blocking the path ahead of you both. There are four of them, equal in gender distribution. A young cheetah man, an old boar guy, a muscled rhino woman, and an unhinged looking hyena lady. All of which then began to make a loud outcry at the sight of you and Elisen before bounding straight towards the both of you.

They also seems strong. You can't quite explain it, but the way those four are moving strikes you as something entirely different from those who you had encountered with Aaron. Those have an unsteady gait in their actions despite the ferocity, a contribution to their combat free life you presume. These four? There's firmness and familiarity in their wild like stride, as if this is something that they had done a lot of times before and all that the green smoke did was just making them be more unrestrained.

Something that Elisen unknowingly explained to you with the first swear that you had ever heard from her.

"Root be dammed!" The Elf weirdly cursed before giving you an order. "Those are Adventurers, Miss Iza. We can't let ourself be hindered by them. I shall provide cover, please assist me!"

Elisen then, to your shock, began to run straight towards them. The supposed Mage fully intending to do a close combat with the physically superior Beastkins, with the cheetah man being the first one to reach her. Just when you thought the Elf had fractured her skull somewhere, she then draws the sword on her hip and swung it with such speed she blurred right behind her opponent before being followed by a strong gust of wind, the maddened Beastkin being violently thrown off into the air in her passing.

It's not over for the cheetah however as the thrown was apparantly a dodge on his part and Elisen's attack had only resulted in a thin line of red on his forearms. The moment he landed, the spotted Beastkin then immediately leaps towards the Elf who had been prepared for such a comeback. The two then trades a series of claws and slashes onto each other that you barely are able to keep up on.

You want to just stare at the furious exchange between the two. It is rare for you to witness a full blown battle between equals who focuses on the physical aspect of their being, but the sight of the remaining hostiles who is beginning to circle the two of them snapped you out of your daze and you began to throw Dark Grasp after Dark Grasp at the three Beastkins.

The Boar guy went down easily enough, him falling down with a squeal of pain the moment your magic had enraptured his torso. The remaining two is what concerns you. The Rhino woman blocks the literal darkness with her arm alone and just with a groan of pain as the cost of it while the Hyena Lady infuriatingly laughs at you as she casually do a flip over your attack.

Well let's see whether they like it when you began to get serious.

Widening your stance, you spread out your arms to connect yourself with the World around you. Pulling at them for every little scrap of dark mana that you can take by using your own dark attribute as a resonance for them to gather.

The two female Beastkins charges at you then, perhaps realizing what you are up to due to their Adventurer experiences. The moment that they could get close however is the moment you had finished your preparation.

With spheres of dark magic on each of your arm, both of them having swirls of dark energy coming in and out of them from your surrounding, you maliciously smiled at the two who had generously come closer to serve as an easier target for you. Thus it is with a heave of effort did you thrush your twin Focused Dark Grasp towards the both of them. Eager to hear them screaming.

The Rhino woman tried, futilely. She may have an excellent physical figure and strength, but her resistance proved to be meaningless againts the might of your empowered darkness. She used her arms to try and block it like before, but this time your magic is almost the same size as her and unless she has something on her to make her be able to physically interact with mana like what the Dwarfs do, which she does not, then she is simply grasping at clouds. The darkness embracing her completely and pinning her down to the ground with a slam.

The Hyena lady however, oh the Hyena lady. Can this bitch just shut up for a second? Your Dark Grasp managed to hit her, but barely. It clips at her side, painfully ripping out a layer of skin out of her and yet all she did was to laugh at it! You tried to hit her with a barrage of normal Dark Grasp then, but this maddened woman is jumping and scurrying around from side to side as if this is what she had been born to do, doing her irritating mocking laughter all the while.

"Kyahaaa!!" Shrieked the Hyena lady as she pulled her arm back for a powerful right hook aimed at your head, somehow being already in front of you after dodging every single one of your attacks.

You stared, wide eyed. Knowing how unlike her, you can't dodge something like this. So you close your eyes and prepare yourself for the following pain.

"Kyaak!?"

Only to open them in surprise to see the back of Elisen's figure as she slashes through the side of the Hyena lady. Somehow managing to get to your side instantly from such a far distance. Turning your gaze towards where she had been, you can see not only the wound covered Cheetah man, but also the Boar guy who had come out of your Dark Grasp. The latter having just in a position to throw a punch at your particular direction.

"Are you alright, Miss Iza?" Asked your leader with concern as she eyed up the enemies in front the two of you. Her legs shaking.

"....I am." You said to her. Already charging up for your next attack. "What should I do?"

Elisen narrowed her eyes, Zephyr coming out of her chest, what?, and said. "Our foes had been weakened. Give Zephyr an opening so that we could blow them all away."

"Okay." You stoically replied while watching the Rhino woman getting out of her bindings. Not much can you do here beside to obey her really. At this point, the both of you had wasted too much time with these four.

"May the Six smiles upon us." Ironically wished Elisen in good luck before heading straight towards the four once more for a second round, leaving Zephyr behind who then quickly began to disperse into thin air.

You don't know what exactly is she planning right now, but you know what you have to do. Her coming in to your rescue is prove that your efforts are working and all that you need to do is to continue doing it.

Thus the battle then proggressed. You and Elisen finally finding each other rhythm and cooperating much more smoothly, not letting anyone get past her. The Elf dodging and weaving between the four Beastkins while you discourage any attempt to strike her from the back with your series of Dark Grasp. A couple of times Elisen would switch up her weapons to shoot someone who did managed to get pass through, sheathing her sword and preparing her bow in an instant. She throws her bow afterwards in order to not be at disadvantage when fighting in such close quarter, and when they thought they could get to you the next time they do that? Elisen magically draws her bow back towards her and shoot them afterwards. You don't think that was Zephyr however, most likely it is one of the abilities that the Bow has as you are sure the arrows it had been shooting with has been curving very unnaturally. Definitely a High Grade item.

All of this happened in less than 5 minutes and yet you had become quite tired by the end of it. Fighting others who is within the same Class as you are when they have an advantage in number is exhausting. You are beginning to consider using your Necromantic magic at this point. All consequence be dammed.

Fortunately, Zephyr is done with whatever it is that it has been doing by the time you had thought about this. Soon enough a very intense whirlwind is formed at your little corner of the Plaza, much bigger than what they had created months ago in the waiting room and it sucks all the four Beastkins away with a couple more from your surrounding and maybe some of the Guards as well.

You were also being drawn into it, but before you were able to be dragged away by it Elisen is able to envelop you in her embrace to hold you from taking off into the air. The fierce wind ignoring her entirely.

The Spirit User wants to say something then, but you ignored her as from the whirlwind come the unmistakeable form of the Hyena lady, uncharacteristically silent. The Beastkin is hounding towards you both by sticking her claws into the ground, preventing her from being thrown into the sky by the slowly dying down whirlwind.

The Hyena lady is getting close. So you pushed Elisen aside and sticks yo-

"Ugh!"

"Miss Iza!?"

-ur arm out to block the bite that she leveled againts the blonde Elf.

You winced in pain as the bitch gnaws on your arm. She was about to dig her claws into you next, but you stopped her by holding a palm ready to blast her with Dark Grasp directly in front of her chest.

"Die." You coldly said to the annoyingly persistent Beastkin. Letting a little bit of your true personality out while you released your magic on her at a point blank range.

"Kyaauukk!?" Yowled the Hyena lady as she was thrown to the side of a nearby building. Trapping her on it's wall for a short while.

"Let us continue?" You tiredly asked your leader then. All of this is pointless if you weren't able to find Cobe after all.

For a moment all that Elisen did is just stare at you from her kneeling position on the ground, Zephyr looking at you up and down from beside her before shrugging itself away into thin air, but before long she answered your question with a kind smile on her face.

You are panting quite heavily by the time you had entered the alleyway where you had seen Char and the monster ran into. The evening had turned into night then and by turning your head around you can see the chaos in the Plaza is steadily getting controlled. It won't be long until the authority will reinstate some semblance of order back there.

There are more feral Beastkins that had blocked your path along with Elisen's after your ordeal with the Four Novice Beastkin. Fortunately, all of them are just in Beginner Class and your improved team work with your Elven leader had managed to overwhelm them quite easily despite being swarmed like what Aaron had warned you about.

"So this is the place?" Asked Elisen as she examined the dirty alleyway where you are all in currently. Noting the trail of destruction the Monster likely had caused when it had bulldozed right through the place.

"Yes, I saw them come into here." You wheezed out while leaning yourself over to the nearest wall. All of this excitement is just pure suffering to your weak body. "If Cobe had also seen what I had saw then he would definitely be coming through here."

"We would better start retracing their steps then." Said the merciless Elf as she began to do another jog to your utter dismay.

Intrigue Check: Cobe's Trail
DC: 60/90/110
Roll: 55 + 15 + 4 = 74
Success

Sadly, the both of you weren't able to find Cobe. The trail had dissappeared after a short while and for all Zephyr capabilities to sense mana, there is simply too much time that has passed and Cobe didn't exactly use a lot of magic.

You did however, found a couple of suspicious people. A couple of suspiciously beaten and freezing people to be exact.

Duak!! "Kiak!?" Cried the scrawny rat man with a baggy outfit and several frozen claw wounds on his person as Elisen slammed him into the wall. He is the only one who is still lucid out of the dozen people that you both had found sprawled on the ground. Which all of them are Beastkins.

"Do not speak such lies to us." Warned Elisen as she glared at the cowering man she had grabbed. "We know you had met a companion of ours and it would be best for you to tell us the truth; Where is Cobe?"

"I-I don't know!" He replied before panicking as the Elf then strengthened her grip. "I can't! I can't! I not tell anyone anything!!"

"Why?"

"Cause I can't!" He whimpered before continuing, steadily devolving into a broken speech. "Master said can't, so can't! Need obey, or need no more Boil, Master said! So can't!"

Elisen slackened her hold over the now openly crying man, horrified at what she is seeing. "What in the name of Spirits had happened to you?"

You meanwhile had been searching over those who are still unconscious. After concluding your research, you then relayed your findings to her. "I remember seeing these people from the list of missing person related to the Boil High, and I also found many signs of drug abuse on them. I suspect him to be no different. The supplier must have a method to instill obedience into these Beastkins. Forcing them to be loyal even when they have a freedom to escape."

"Can it be possible?" Asked the Elf as she released the previously kidnapped Beastkin. You responded by holding an unused can that several of them had been holding.

"As possible as convincing them to do terrorism in Phione of all places."

"By the Spirits." Muttered Elisen in distress, and you can't blame her. Even by accounting the possible Legacy grade item, the supplier's apparant range of skill is very wide for merely an Adept. You would expect something like this from somebody who is very well learned, even with the standard of Phione.

You take one more look at the blabbering Rat man. He definitely knows the supplier's location of hiding. Whatever had happened to him during his disappearance is the only thing preventing him from selling out his captor. It shouldn't be a problem for the Tower to extract the answer out of him however. Mages always have a way for everything.

You just need to capture these people and let Cobe deal with whatever fallout that he had made with his foolish action.

Personally, you are very interested in what he had to say. The Tower would surely confiscate everything that the Supplier has for evidence once they had got to them, leaving you with nothing but a simple congratulation of "job well done" and maybe a bonus wage.

If you were able to know the location of their hide out and then prepare yourself accordingly however, then maybe you can get your hands on some of their research. Whether it be some materials that they are experimenting with or the research notes themself, it would be a great boon for you.

Maybe even the Legacy Item itself. You fantasize within the privacy of your mind before focusing your gaze more on the mine of information before you, making him flinch in fear.

Just how would you be able to make him talk though?

[ ] Leave him be. You need to find Cobe.
[ ] Capture them all. Cobe will be fine.
[ ] Interrogate him further. You need him to talk.
-[ ] Specify How
[ ] Write-In

Should have done that from the start. Would have given me more freedom in writing the scene and let me dodge the horrible math. I will preserve the previous Battle Mechanic only in battles that truly matters.

Hint: There's a hidden usage in one of your skill that without a doubt will make him talk. How will you use it is the question.

Anyways, I am interested in what you are going to do here. Merry Christmast everybody!

Interlude: Blooming Cinder, Part VIII
You can't think of anything to coax what you wanted out of this man. Maybe if you were given a few hours of freedom with his pain receptors you can make him sing anything that you desire, but sadly you currently didn't have the luxury of doing so.

It's much better for me to just stick with the plan and continue to build up my rapport with the rest of Team 8. You thought with frustration before giving Elisen a suggestion in how to proceed.

"Let's leave them here. We need to find Cobe." You emotionlessly offered. Already moving to bag everything out of these people that is either dangerous to leave with them alone or can serve as evidence for their participation in tonight's incident. Stuff such as the unused cans filled with the suspected Boil and each of their body hair.

Elisen doesn't give you an answer for a moment. Simply staring at the dozen completely drugged up Beastkins with an indescribable expression on her face before finally responding with a question. "Can your Sorcery provide a prevention of their return?"

You turn your head to her with a raised brow at that, wondering the reason for her seemingly random query, but you chose to ignore it entirely instead before giving her an honest answer on your part.

"It can." You nonchalantly said, brightening her facial expression as she turned to face you, before dashing it as you explained yourself further. "As long as I have time. I am merely a Novice on the practice. The strongest wards that I can make in such a short time to restrain them will be easily breakable, and while I can improve the durability of the handcuffs that we are issued with using Imbue, there is simply far too many of them. So unless we found a pile of ropes somewhere around here, the others who hadn't been restricted can found a way to break free those who did with their Beastkin strength."

"So there's no solution?"

"None unless we decide to leave Cobe alone."

Elisen looked displeased by the answer you had given to her, but fortunately her ire is simply directed at the situation in general and not to yourself specifically. She then spent a moment or two longer to look at the many spawled forms of Beastkins on the ground before sighing softly to herself. Seemingly accepting her inability to do anything meaningful to them.

"It is unfortunate." Your Elven leader said as she then began to walk away, you closely doing the same from behind her, before resolutely giving you an order. "But the well being of Cobe is definitely of our hightest priority. Let us carry on with our quest Vecna. They shouldn't have gone too far."

_ _ _

It took quite a while, approximately around half an hour, but the two of you did eventually managed to find Cobe, and it is good for him when the both of you did so as he is not alone.

It started with Elisen claiming she had heard a shouting from someone nearby. With no other lead to follow, you both then decided to approach the source, and before long you could also began to hear them. The voices slowly becoming much clearer and more understanable the closer did the two of you get to them. Both of you recognizing one of them for being Cobe with you being the only one to recognize the other.

So, it is of no particular surprise to you how once the two of you turned to the corner, you both not only found Cobe, but also Char. Both of them being completely riddled with wounds. With the latter slowly choking the former on the nearby wall while angrily yelling about something to the out of breath blunette.

"-you hear me, you damn mutt!? That's why I don't give a shit about your damn Tower! So keep your nose where it belongs or I swear I'll smash your face to your fucking litter!!" Threatened Char as he roared right in front of Cobe's face, which is steadily becoming of the same colour as his hair; Blue.

"Kgak-C-Cha-staph!" The Beastkin Assistant tried to say as he struggled to remove the hands on his neck. His consciousness rapidly fading away.

"You better listen to me this time, you son of dog. Did you think I wouldn't fucking dare!? If you keep this shit up, then I will ki-"

"You will what, Sir Char?" Suddenly said Elisen in a cold tone. Stopping the Feline Beastkin in his tirade and making him quickly turn his face around, before freezing at the sight of a sharp blade and a humming dark orb that is currently being pointed towards his back. The Elf's words continuing unabated all the while. "Because whatever you might do, I highly hope for you to reconsider them."

"Wha-what?" Breathed out Char in response. Speechless at the abrupt appearance of the two of you. Judging by the bulging eyes of Cobe, he isn't the only one being surprised.

"Drop him." You ordered the outlaw, which he then immediately done for his part, before giving him another one with a shake of your head. "Come here. Hands on the back."

"E, cough, Elisen? And, cough, Vecna, cough, too?" Coughed Cobe in disbelief. Staring wide eyed at the sweat soaked forms of his rescuers before continuing his words much smoothly than before. "H-how did you find me?"

Hearing that, Elisen then gave him a smile. Turning her attention away from Char who is being handcuffed by you and then said to him the method of your arrival.

"The two of you are just being too loud Cobe. Couldn't you have done this somewhere much more private?" The Elf asked while extending her hand to help him up. Seeing the confused look on the Wolf Beastkin's face, she then shamelessly explained herself further. "It shouldn't be too hard for the two of you to get a room. What would the neighborhood have said if we haven't stop him from doing you in?"

Cobe stared at his leader, mouth completely agape. You and Char meanwhile just stared blankly at Elisen with the one you are currently putting on hold expressing out exactly what you had wanted to say.

"Shut the fuck up, long ears. You're shit at it." Uttered the feline Beastkin in disgust. Distraughting Elisen with his honest critique.

Cobe then laughed himself out at the exchange. Accepting Elisen's hand before moving to stand up with barely little signs of pain. Followed by him voicing out his thoughts on the matter.

"-haha, and I am glad that you did, Elise." Smiled Cobe with mirth before turning his attention to you, gaining yours in return "Though I didn't think you would come too, Vecna. I thought you didn't like me."

Why did you have to make this difficult? Agh, to Inferno with it. You thought in irritation before giving him a reply.

"I did." You said truthfully while glancing to the side. Earning yourself a brief hurtful look from Cobe and a reproachful one from Elisen. Before they could say anything in response, you immediately turned yourself around to point a finger at the annoying Beastkin's chest. Berating him strongly for his acts. "However, that doesn't mean I hate you. I can't let my partner go and kill themself with their own stupitidy, couldn't I? It would make me look bad by doing so."

For a moment, all that Cobe did was to just stare at you, but before long he then gave you a soft smile. Making you blink at the abruptness of it and what his next words to you are.

"I see. Thank you for helping me then Vecna." Thanked the blunette with a grateful nod. Confusing you as you think you can hear some sort of an understanding from his tone. Where does that even come from?

Your bewilderment, however, needs to take a step back for now. Because Elisen then decided to rejoin the conversation and brought up an interesting point of fact that you have failed to notice at first.

"So Cobe." The Elf said, directing all the focus towards her person. Once she sees she had you all, she then continued. "What manner of events had transpired before our reunion? I didn't believe you and Sir Char to have been fighting againts each other, at least not innitially."

It's true, and this can easily be seen on Char. The feline Beastkin injury is, despite the amount of them being present, clearly haven't been made by Cobe. There's not a single bit of frost on his body. As a matter of fact, these two had quite a similar set of wounds, with them looking like they had been run over by something big and jagged. Almost as if they....ah.

"You two fought the Monster, didn't you?" You plainly stated while looking at Cobe as if he is a moron. Making him fidget awkwardly as Elisen then started doing the same. Obviously knowing he had done something stupid, and is now being uncomfortable of discussing it with his superior. Well, too bad for him. You're just getting started.

"If you have seen what I had also seen then you should be aware about how it must be around Adept Class, right? How it had endured Observator Isaac's onslought for a brief moment? Why would you want to fight it when you know you would be outmatched by it? With Char too no less? You could have been eaten by it if you-"

"Shut the Fuck up!! You pale bitch!!" Suddenly roared Char in anger, thrashing around in your grip and giving you a difficulty in making him go still. He is glaring at you with murder in his eyes and he snarled his next words to you. "Call him an it again and I kill you, you hear me!? He's not an animal!!"

You finally managed to make him stop by blasting a Dark Grasp on his back. Smashing him down painfully to the ground where you can easily pin him. To the side, you can hear Elisen questioning Cobe on more of what he know. The blunette's answer is slow and is filled with uncertainty. He is obviously unsure about something that he is going to say, about how it is kind of ridiculous even to him, but his leader then convinced him to say it either way and then you need a couple of seconds to process just what had came out of his mouth next.

"Apparantly the Monster is his brother." Explained Cobe to the immense displeasure of Char and to the absolute bewilderment of you and Elisen upon hearing them. In the end, all that you could say in response was.

"What?"

_ _ _

"So his brother is the Deer Monster?" Asked Observator Sonia as you roughly handed Char over to Kiera who is standing beside her. Clearly amused at the suffering that you are having, but you don't give her a damn. The Feline Beastkin has been trying to escape from you ever since the halfway through the return trip, and all that you wanted right now is to get rid of him from your care.

You would be lying if you said you didn't took a great satisfaction at the feline Beastkin's panic upon him being picked up by Blake, Kiera's familiar, who is now somehow the size of an adult tiger, but who cares? Let the cat handle their fellow cats.

"He had claimed it to be so." Answered Elisen in a professional manner before she then unpromptly explained herself further. "Based from Cobe's accounts. Char's older brother Mika is a Beastkin with a sub-species of a Deer who had been working as a low level drug peddler, hired muscle, thief, and other such unscrupulous jobs around the Old Beastkin District. He is apparantly one of the first Boil distributor who believed the substance to be nothing out of ordinary and who then sold them cheaply to his more 'adventurous' clients for an easy money from the supplier. Thinking it to be an act to promote the wares, and nothing truly nefarious."

"How is this makes him diffirent from the others?"

"It all changed however, once Mika had never returned home from getting another batch of Boil. Sir Char has been hounding the drug operation and destroying their supply hub with close friends and neighbors to find his brother ever since, not being able to rely on the Tower as Mika then would be caught as well. It was during one of these operations did he discovered the Monster who is guarding one of the hubs in question. He didn't managed to catch it for the first time, but highly suspect it to appear at the plaza based from what he had found from his aggressive search."

"So the Monster is controlled instead of being simply released. Good to know. How did this bad boy think that hulking mass of muscle is his brother though?"

"Cobe said it was because Sir Char recognized the scent that the Monster is emitting. It's difficult for him to found the word for it, but he said it's as if there are layers on the Monster's smell and how Mika's smell is hidden under the very bottom of it. Only Sir Char could picked up on it and it's because of the tight bond that they have with each other."

Observator Sonia looked sceptical upon hearing the reason, but the resident Warlock then decided to add her own piece too on the matter. So she then choose to accept it for now.

"Ohh! Blake did said something about smells from those who are families being somewhat similar. He must mean that!" Excitedly said Kiera as she pet her familar's neck. Receiving a growl from Char who is currently being picked up by the scruff of his neck by said familiar as if he is an irate kitten.

"Beastkin stuff then. Let's leave it at that." The white haired Observator reluctantly accepted before smiling wickedly in Char's particular direction. Making the Feline Beastkin flinch in response. "I will found it all soon enough by rumming through that little head of his."

"Rumming through?" You asked in confusion. The answer you received though, sends chill to your back.

"I am a Mind Delver. It's my job to literally get inside someone's mind and search for informations that we needed if they aren't feeling chatty. I would need to dive into a more 'inhuman' parts of his memory for this, but I am confident in myself." Proudly said the Telepath with a hand on her chest. She then gave you a smirk upon seeing your face hardens. Leaning dangerously close. "I can't do that willy-nilly though and my time is precious. So I won't look into yours as long as you didn't have anything to hide. You don't though, don't you Iza?"

You take a single gulp of air. "No Maam."

"Good girl." She said while patting your cheek.

"Sonia!" Warned Kiera. Which is enough to make the woman back off.

"I am just messing with her." Observator Sonia said with a chuckle before addressing both you and Elisen. "Anyways, nice work on your part. We will take things up from here. So go and have a talk with the rest of your team."

"Good work you two. See you later!" Parted Kiera cheerfully from atop Blake's back, and with a grumble from Char, off did they go then back to the Tower. Presumeably to get to know the inside's of the Feline Beastkin's brain as soon as possible.

Leaving you alone with Elisen in the now calmed down Plaza.

"Are you okay Vecna?" Asked your leader in concern as the both of you then started to make way to the others. Where Cobe is being treated by Dawn. "Miss Huberta might be a bit rough, but she highly respect the privacy of others. She wouldn't dive inside your mind without permission."

Or maybe that what she wanted you to think. You thought with paranoia inside your might not be so private anymore mind before responding.

"I know." You lied as the two of you navigate around rows of people being healed. You can see Zarya in the middle of it all being busy curing all the Beastkins who are infected. Apparantly she can only do it if she was fast enough. So you wouldn't be able to talk with her for the rest of today. A shame, but you need to finish your conversation with Elisen first. "I am just uncomfortable with the notion of someone who can enter my mind being close by. It makes me feel unsafe."

The blonde Elf put a hand on your shoulder, holding it tightly while sounding reassuring. "You will be used to it soon enough. Miss Huberta is a nice woman."

"I hope so." You honestly said while glancing to the side. Watching the returned Wilhelm and Ricardo having a heated discussion with the unharmed Mayor Linnaeus. You wonder where those two had gotten up to, and where exactly the Vice Master is right now.

You and Elisen had gotten close with the rest of Team 8 by now. Most of them are talking to each other while sitting on the ground, or leaning on the wall in Alan's case, and the first of them to notice you both is Aaron. He turns his head to your direction and smiled upon seeing your approach.

"There you both are." Pleasantly said the Karrion Mage as he moved to stand up. Gaining the others attention and alerting them of your presence. "The suspect had been successfully delivered then?"

Why is that even a question? If we failed then we wouldn't be calmly taking a stroll to you, do we? You thought to yourself with an inward eyeroll deep inside your mind. Though your leader seems to decide to humour him regardless of the pointlessness of it.

"It was." Elisen said with a warm smile before gesturing to each of them. Wanting to know how did they fare in the middle of all the chaos. "May I assume everything had gone well on all of your ends?"

"It was on mine." Stoically said Alan. Not even bothering to move from his position on the wall. "The most trouble that we had was on subduing the maddened Beastkin Adventurers, Guards, and even other Assistants. They are slippery."

You would agree with him. The arm where that damnable Hyena lady had bitten you is beginning to ache once more.

Aaron, upon hearing the red head recounts, then began to tiredly sigh to himself while shaking his head softly. Clearly having a different experience on his part.

"Mine and Dawn hadn't gone as great." The Sandmancer said with a closing of his eyes while shrugging and pointing his palms upwards to express himself more vividly. "It had gone well enough at first. Our numbers being enough to fight off most of the assault despite having some of ours being taken by Miss Sonia, but Brock of all people then decided to pay us a visit at the end."

"Brock?"/"Brock!?" You and Elisen said simultaneously. With one understanding the situation more than the other. You were just about to ask for a clarification on the subject, but Alan beats you to it by describing the person in question with his next words.

"You didn't tell me you three were attacked by the strongest Adventurer in Mavis." Coldly said the Fire Mage with a glare to Aaron, who doesn't look particularly concerned. "There's no way for you all to get out unscratched after facing someone who had been an Adept for years. How did you ward him off? Is Kiera safe? Did any of yo-"

"Hey, now stop it you two!" Berated Dawn who had been mostly silent all this time. She is currently being occupied with healing the winching Cobe who is also staying silent. Before the Noble can say anything else however, she then continued. "There's no need for you to worry Alan. We are fine. Kiera is fine. We might be pounded for a while, but Sister Lynn then came to our rescue. Healing most of us in seconds."

"We would have been still in trouble if it weren't for that Scalekin though." Further explained the Curse User. Gaining back the rest of everyone's attention. "Despite her amazing healing capabilities, Sister Lynn is still not a fighter. We are only able to beat him due to the help of a Saurian civillain. He called himself Zoanuctlacl."

"Zoa what?" Said Cobe in confusion. Not being able to pronounce the bizarre name.

"Zoanuctlacl." Alan repeated for Aaron. Seemingly having calmed down. "I heard of him. He is the fortune teller who had come here around half a year ago isn't he? I am not aware he is an Adept. Much less a fighter."

"Me neither." Answered the Karrion Mage. Traces of amazement still evident in the way he is talking. "You should have seen them fight. The Scalekin is definitely outmatched by Brock, yet he fought with a ferocity that I have never seen before. Trading blows for blows againts one of Mavis best with fury of a Dragon."

"It definitely is a sight to behold." Agreed Dawn as she recalls her memories of the battle, before suddenly jerking her body as she remembered something. "Vecna!"

"Yes?" You asked, but instead of talking to you, she spoke with Aaron for some reason. Reminding him of something which the Earth Mage then remembered.

You watched, utterly perplexed as the Sandmancer then fiddled with his pockets. Looking for something. You turn to see the others reaction, but they seem to know what exactly is this all about judging by the smile on their faces. Even Alan! Just what is going on?

Finally, Aaron then found what he is looking for. He holds it in a palm of his hand, some kind of white fabric. You then became more confused as he then handed it to you.

"It's a gift." He said as you inspect the fabric further. Unraveling it, you found it to be a pair of gloves. A Magic Gloves according to your experienced eye.

(Received 1 Low Grade Equipment: Magic Gloves. Effect: +3 Magic)

"W-why?" You simply asked. Not understanding the reason behind the action.

"It's kind of Team 8 thing." Explained Cobe, and with a gesture, he shows off his hand where a similar set of glove is on. Looking around, you can see how the others are also doing the same with theirs.

"Kiera is the one who had started it all. Wanting us to have something to match with each other." Said Elisen as she gazed at her own set.

"So we thought we get one for you too!" Said Dawn as she happily looked at you.

"But, it took us so long because we hand crafted it, and none of us have the necesary skill to actually do it properly." Said Aaron as he helplessly shrugged.

"We planned to give it to you when the mission ended. As a congratulation of completing your first big job, but well...." Trailed off Cobe as he grimaced at how things had ended up.

"So you only received it now of all times. Just to make sure nothing else crops up later on." And finally said Alan as he looked away from you.

You don't know what to say. You don't know what to feel about all this. Why did they even do this? They don't need to do something this meaningless at all, do they? You had never received something like this except from your teacher and your Sister.

In the end. All that you could say is....

"Thank you."

And with that, Blooming Cinder is over! Congratulation on getting through your first event everyone!
