I would prefer a more reliable teammate than Willow. I know it's kind of shortsighted to cut her out on the info but in the end, there could only be one survivor.

I am not sure what is there to stop us from filling her in outside of Honorius' earshot, but given that this is a character-defining vote that likely informs our attitude for the future... yes, I suppose information is something we should share. Would trade it with people from other districts, would share it with our partner in hopes of getting something of equal value.

Nothing probably. It's like the choice to go get her early. It's not guaranteed to make a difference, and she could entirely dismiss some of what we say if she decides it's a lie by honorius, but depending on how obviously she responds, she could cost us some of the good will from honorius, who has just demonstrated his willingness to deny usefull advice if we won't work with him.

The quest is going to be full of decisions like these, where we can make a choice, possibly to no significant gain or loss, possibly with all options being bad and we mearly pick what we lose. There are going to be dozens over the course of the game and they'll define things in a dozen small ways. Ultimately it'll define whether we enter the arena as part of an alliance or with barely anyone on our side and a low chance of sponsors.

So far honorius and willow have proven to be at opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to how the hunger games should be approached, which is probably deliberate. I'm not convinced willow is likely to change her mind on that, nor honorius his. I expect we will have to pick between the two somewhere down the line, and as a whole, the choices we have made seem more aligned with honorius's approach than willow's.

While I don't think this particular choice will have consiquences we can't handle, inconsistent behavior and lack of conviction will undermine other tributes faith in our ability to follow thru on any agreements, which is detrimental to forming alliances. This is not a quest where we can try and pander to both sides, not for long anyway. If our two nominal options for working to survive the games are at odds, and refuse to reconcile, we need to pick one and commit to their method of surviving the games.

Do hope this isn't a you have to pick a side/method type of thing because using the same tool for everything isn't a smart thing to do in a game like this. With that said I'm not sure what to vote on if this really is the case.

Edit: Actually thinking about it. At times the Quick Wits choice shows its effects while at times it doesn't. For example quickly covering on surprise on the reaping. Then we got the current situation of our mentor and distract girl and not really adapting or I guess figuring out what their deal's are.

Until we get to the real life and death stuff, most choices aren't going to be so final and binding as that. Characters will act like real people with their own motives and adapt to your decisions based on that. They will lie to you, manipulate you, but also genuinely help you if they like you enough.

As for the Quick Wits trait: Realizing the situation you're in and adapting to it quickly is different than reading people and their intentions. You would have had a much easier time of it with the Shrewd option for interpersonal relations. However, in the games, thinking on your feet and coming up with tactics and strategies will come a lot easier to you.

Maybe it's more him not really adapting to what these people are doing? Like he might not know why they are doing this but he can make guesses or at least know what is ticking them off? Like for example our mentor doesn't want us to give our distract girl help/hints. So it seems a little strange that he might whisper right in front of said mentor.

Like can easily see someone with this trait looking more at the bad stuff than the good.....which might be why our distract girl is just being a dick. Then again not sure if she can read people that well if she went straight to hostile to Flint right at the start. Maybe she just stinks at social?

If we do secure Honorius' support, or at least a degree of it, how does that change our circumstances? I guess he'll be schmoozing with potential sponsors and the Game Makers, and with a word here or there to potentially set up an alliance with some of the Careers. That said, part of me just doesn't see the value in siding with the Careers.

4 seemed attractive till we saw their new set up, and we haven't seen 3. That pretty much just leaves 2, hoping that they side against the potential 1 & 4 team up.

Maybe? Is that even particularly likely? Maybe it's too early to tell, but we at least have guarantees that the Tributes will all have some level of competency.

It's hard to even think about potential allies though, just in general. Descending into a cycle of paranoia even before we get to see more of the other Tributes' character and disposition. All made worse by the fact that we can never really trust anyone. How we'll have to pay attention to that knife's edge, juggling struggle and betrayal. It seems easier to try and just go our own way, and try to sneak by, but that basically never works. If we want a chance at winning, we'll need support from Sponsors.

Towards that end, my best thought is that we lean into the 'big brother' angle. Banding together with the younger and weaker kids, and trying to stay together and whatnot.

Eh, truth be told, all of that is a bit much. At the very least, I think we should stick close to the devil we know.

I really don't think this situation is do-or-die, and either way there are options for getting allies and Sponsors even if Honorius decides to be stubborn.

He might think that trying to put her at ease and showing her that he's willing to cooperate from the get-go is worth the risk of annoying Honorius.

Hmm, not going to say too much about why Willow is acting the way she is. Future interactions will likely explain this.

Hmmm man you really making me think here. Honestly would of talked with her in private than doing it in front of our mentor with the info I have but maybe Flint is more risky than I am. At least this way I can have both sides without the others interference.

It's not a thing we are limited to either willow's or honorius's approach, but so far it seems like there set in opposition of eachother, and that might not be avoidable. We'll have some agency to decide how we want to try and survive, but the characters have there own Ideals, plans, and opinions, and we can't please all of them or even more than a few of them.

Honorius is very pro alliance and sponsors approach. He wants us assessing everyone and picking someones side and getting them on ours. Willow on the other hand doesn't even want to see the other tributes reaping aside from 2&1. I'm not sure exactly what her approach is but it definitely isn't form a team and play to the capitol for sponsors. We don't have the social skills of a rich origin, so I doubt we can get the two to try and find some middle ground, if that was ever a possibility in the first place.

Nothing is set about who we ally with, how we handle the games, or anything beyond the fact that most of us want to get a team going. If building a team is something we have to drag willow kicking and screaming into then we have to ask ourselves if we should expend the effort, or focus our attention elsewhere.

Don't forget that we can also read a situation. Let's us tell when things are about to go wrong in general. Pretty usefull for forming genuine alliamces and spotting betrayals coming

Yup. If we wanted an easier early game and the ability to avoid the snakes and befriend the greats, shrewd was the way to go. Since we don't have it now, it's important to pick and choose our allies and how we approach them carefully. Between the courage we projected following our reaping(she responded with disgust), sticking with honorius, insulting her pride by saying she was better off missing parts of the reaping, willow is already hostile to us, while we have made a bit of a positive impression on honorius, something I think is worth maintaining at least until we get his insider info on the D2 Careers.

Honestly glad to see it! That you're giving this much thought to it makes me very happy and I'm just trying to explain the best I can without spoiling anything. Randy also brought up some good points. The Poor origin gives both you and Willow pretty poor social skills, you're dancing around each other seeing who's going to blink first.
