It had taken a few weeks to repair the broken Jaeger, but at the Pilots' demand it was outfitted with Hellfire Projectors, a simple weapon that spewed Phosphorous at temperatures high enough to turn steel into molten slag. The downside was its range, but the Hydraulic Gauntlets it had would compensate for it.
Walter had chuckled at the sight of it, having a thin frame yet looked durable enough to take on a Cat-V Kaiju with minor difficulty. Victoria was in awe of the newly christened Wildcat Theta, looking on with a mixture of pure joy and nostalgia.
"Are you ready to see if it works?" You asked them, and both of them had agreed near instantly. Both pilots had gone off to suit up, and you had gone to see the Engineers.
One of the Engineers was a nice girl by the name of Amelia, most of the Engineers here looked at her as the leader of them. Though, you're not sure why she brought in cats to the Shatterdome. But the help in getting mice from chewing the wires on the machines was very appreciated, even if they kept sleeping in odd places.
"Alright boss, systems up and online. Ready to begin Drift Sequence in 3...2...1..." The Jaeger whirred to life for a brief moment, but then went dead silent with a shudder. "Wait, damn it...Is the neural interface connected properly?"
A voice came onto the radio, answering the Lead Engineer's question. "My bad boss, give us a few minutes to set everything back up." Sighing, you waited for the Engineers to check and make sure everything was properly connected down to the last wire.
"Alright, beginning Drift Sequence in 3...2...1..." This time, the Jaeger had started up perfectly. "Alright Walter, move your left arm up. I want to see if the connections are working out, just to troubleshoot."
Moving its left arm, the Jaeger moved perfectly in sync with the Rangers. "She handles likes a dream Amelia, I'd like to thank you for getting her operational."
"Her?" Amelia inquired with an eyebrow raised.
"Jaegers are like horses, you can tell a lot about them just by their movements. How they handle, what they can do, their quirks, you can learn a lot of things from being in a Jaeger." You answered, drawing from your previous experience as a Jaeger Pilot. Amelia looked at you oddly, but she didn't question it.
But you heard something else, the alarms blaring in the background.
A Kaiju had appeared.
