[X] See the Elders for the important meeting.

"So, who are the warriors in the village?" You ask Zelda as the two of you make your way through the village.

"Well, there's Impa, who you met. She's the leader. Brokka, she's only part Sheikah like me so she often pretends to be a Hylian when leaving the village. She's also rather obsessed with gems and Rupees so don't mention the size of our wallet," Zelda explains, "There's Akko, who's our resident novice battle mage. She's also only part Sheikah. Cado, who's often guarding the elders. He's.... a cucco farmer."

"...Why did you put so much emphasis on-"

'AND FINALLY!" Zelda cuts you off, "There's Dorian. He lost his wife, so he's caught between his duties and raising his two young daughters. Koko and Cottla are in my class, so you'll get to meet them soon enough!"

"Can't wait..." You reply, half-distracted as you glance around the village. It was like no village you had seen before, the architecture distinct and the people wearing clothing of unique styles. If you didn't know any better you'd have assumed you had left Hyrule completely.

Yet there was something... off about the village, and it took you a second for it to click in what that was. Most of the villagers were either elderly or very young children. You also don't see many people remotely close to the appropriate age that they could be those children's parents. You feel sick as you consider the disturbing implications of this bizarre population dynamic but something does manage to distract you from it.

The fact everyone was bowing to Zelda as you walked past. Even the elderly were straining themselves to bow as the Princess walked past, whispers following you.

"The Princess returns!"

"Her Majesty!"

"Why is she wearing such filthy clothes?"

"Who is that boy she's with?"

"He sure looks like he knows how to use a bow~"

"...wait wha-"

"Zelly's back!"

"Why is the Princess so familiar with him? You don't think-!?"

"No, her majesty would never!"

"Quite an interesting reaction..." You mutter to Zelda, whose expression had fallen considerably.

"I'm sorry... they're wonderful people but-"

"Mipha's going to make a killing if she charges for back pain healing," You muse, and Zelda makes a rather undignified snort, covering her mouth.

"Pffft, goddess that's horrible Link!" She manages to say while stifling her laughter.

Now in much better spirits, the two of you eventually reach the building Zelda says is where the elders say. You think it's some sort of temple, but you aren't sure. It was at the top of an outcropping of rock, with a set of stairs leading up to it. In front of the stairs was two guards, older men in outfits similar to the other residents though modified with some protection on the arms and at their waists were small single edged blades. They obviously weren't going for threatening, but they were armed if they needed to fight. You heavily suspected that there were actual weapons and armour stashed nearby in the case of real danger.

The two guards immediately get down on one knee, heads lowered at the sight of the Princess. You assume they're Cado and Dorian. You could easily tell which was which as Cado smelled distinctly of Cucco's and Dorian had bags under his eyes.

"Your majesty, the elders are already waiting for you and your companion, go right ahead," Dorian tells her, and the Princess thanks the guard before heading up the stairs with you following behind her.

Upon actually reaching the temple grounds you notice a path leading off to a waterfall where a small pool of water with a statue of the Goddess Hylia sitting in it was located. Zelda, however, doesn't lead you to it, instead taking you into the main building, and you actually raise your eyebrow when you notice the doors seemed to be sliding panels made of wood and rice paper.

You enter what seems to be a large hall, that for some reason lacks chairs instead being filled with cushions. The elders were at the end of the hall, seven ancient Sheikah dressed in elaborate religious robes and headdresses. Sheikah symbols adorned their bodies, and you could feel a thrum of power coming off them even at this distance.

The elders regard the two of you as you both step in, and the head elder from her more elaborate dress speaks up, "A Princess of the ancient bloodline, and her loyal champion in green. You both truly are the very picture prophecy speaks of."

"Wha- I mean greetings Elders," Zelda quickly bows before snapping upright, crossing the distance to stand in front of the elders, "What do you mean prophecy?"

"Your majesty, you are aware of how you are referred as being blessed by the goddesses?" Another Elder asks, to which Zelda nods.

"Y-yes, that thing about how I am to save Hyrule?"

The head Elder nods, "I see you have heard of the beliefs that have spread throughout Hyrule. Inadvertently helped spread by the empire. In truth, it is simply part of a much larger destiny."

"Dear Zelda, your sacred duty has always weighed so heavily on you that we kept its true scope from you, " Another elder adds, "Yet it seems we have held you back, for your risky flight has led you straight to your champion!"

"H-hold on... just hold on a second," Zelda asks, clearly overwhelmed by everything the elders had said, holding up a hand to stop them, "You're dumping a lot on me the moment I stepped through the door. Please, elders, could you start at the beginning?"

"Apologies your majesty, the excitement of seeing prophecy fulfilled has made us overeager."

"That's... that's alright," Zelda says, "Just, what prophecy are you talking about?"

The prophecy of how Hyrule averts Calamity, of course. One as old as our ancient land," The head elder explains, "Whenever evil rises, it is said, a Princess blessed by the Goddesses and a great champion shall rise to save the land and bring about an age of peace and prosperity."

Zelda nods, "Yes, I know that. Scholars theorize that such figures are usually members of the royal line and the leader of their knights, made into holy figures for their great deeds-"

"Ohoho, dear Princess Zelda, still relying on your books!" The head elder chuckles, "No my dear, the Princess and Champion are holy figures, signified by the royal mark, and in the champion's case a garb of green."

You look down at your clothes, the one Zelda had given you, "Uh... this?" You ask, pulling on your tunic, "My other clothes are dirty."

Zelda if anything seemed more confused, "Elders, with all due respect I bought those clothes for Link. They're... um... were a gift for him."

"Your destiny clearly lead to you picking them! Ah, you see Princess, your precognitive powers are growing, just like the Princesses of old!" An Elder chimed in.

"No elders, I... I think there's some mistaken identity. Link's my friend," Zelda replies, shaking her head, "Look here, it's just a tunic I bought-" She grabs your tunic and pulls you forward, and you reflexively (though lightly) grab her hand.

Neither of you expected the warm glow that would come from your hands, and you both leap back from each other in surprise. The glow does not vanish though, instead, it seems to coalesce until a shape was visible on your hand. That symbol, the one that looked so much like the royal symbol of Hyrule that appeared occasionally, that only had one part truly illuminated. You look over to Zelda, and sure enough, she had one as well on her right hand. Except a different part of the symbol was glowing.

You were both speechless, looking between the symbols on your hands, trying to make sense of what was happening.

"Do you see now, young Princess? You and the champion are linked by the gods themselves, those symbols make it as clear as day," The head elder tells you, hope blossoming in her eyes.

"It was destiny that led you to him!" Another Elder adds in.

Zelda's expression though was inscrutable, as she set her jaw and turned to the elders, her hand falling to her side as the symbol slowly vanished, "What.... what does this mean?"

"It means you have a great task ahead of both of you! One began by your mother, before she was so cruelly taken from us," The head elder has a momentary expression of intense grief, before she composes herself, "You must find the six holy maidens, and bring them to a most sacred Nexus. They are individuals of exceptional holy power, just like the sages your mother surrounded herself with, perhaps even greater. You will know them by their connection to you, and the greatness they can spark from even the most minor of actions. Only when they are safe, can you begin healing our home. To free it from those who wish to exploit it, and finally banish the blood moon and its monster spawn from our lands!"

The elder than looks at you, and you feel yourself stiffen under her gaze, "As champion, Link, you are their sword and shield. Defend them from those who would prey on them, and be their blade when the time calls for action!"

You nod, you wouldn't let someone hurt innocents anyways, but the elder continues, "But first, you must activate the Sheikah Gate, located just outside the village. It will take you to a very special place, located deep in the Hebra mountains. Our ancestors called it "The Nexus" and it is no doubt a truly sacred place. It will serve as a sanctuary for the maidens, protect them from the evil that has infested Hyrule."

Zelda steps forward, and you see her hand clench slightly, "Wait, that structure is a portal? But you told Paya and I that it was only to safeguard the Sheikah Slate."

The elders bow their heads, looking apologetic, "Forgive us, your highness, but we did it to protect you. No doubt there are many dangers and trials in the Nexus, and the gate will only respond to the presence of the Champion. We feared if you explored it, you would have undoubtedly come to serious harm."

Zelda steps back, hand unclenching.

"Where exactly would we even begin to look for these maidens?" You ask, stepping forward, "It'd take years to search every individual in Hyrule."

The elder nods, "Yes, such a thing would be impossible even for those chosen by the gods. You will need to travel to the Temple of Time after you activate the Nexus, located on the Great Plateau and speak to the Guardian who resides there. They will set you on the right path."

"Are... Are we to leave immediately?" Zelda asks, but the elder only shakes her head.

"No, dear child, the two of you are barely standing as it is. You must rest, regain your strength and only when you are certain you are ready to venture forth."

Zelda nods, and bows, "Understood Elder. I.... I think I shall go pray at the statue of the goddess."

The elders nod in understanding, and Zelda takes that moment to turn and walk towards the exit. You make a motion to follow her, but the elder calls to you, "Wait, champion."

You turn around, respectfully standing at attention as your father had taught you.

"We knew your father, young Link," The head elder tells you, and you start a bit, "Called the werewolf for his ferocity in battle and the wolf symbol of your household. Wolves were once considered sacred beasts in the province of Ordona, believed to be loyal protectors of the Royal Family, defending them from any evil that would harm them. Be not just her majesty's champion, but that same loyal protector who is the symbol of your house. Show the courage and ferocity of those sacred beasts, as you take up this ancient forgotten role!"

"I will, honoured elders," You tell them, your words carrying the full weight of your conviction.

True to her word, you find Zelda by the goddess statue but she was doing anything but praying. She was leaning against the rock outcropping with her arms crossed, watching the waterfall and very clearly waiting for you.

"Soooo..." You begin to say, getting her attention. She turns to you, her expression still unreadable, which makes you pause.

When you don't respond for several seconds she lets out a long, drawn out sigh, "Sorry... and sorry for dragging you into this."

"You didn't drag me into anything Zelda," You tell her, "How're you holding up?"

She looks back to the goddess statue, "I... thought it would get to me but... I don't know. I guess I must still processing everything..."

"We'd do it anyway. A chance to end the blood moon? We don't need to be special to throw everything into that."

She smiles a bit at that, "Yeah... but, to think that we'd be this."

"Just means we're watching each other's backs like we always have."

She shakes her head, "No... no, it's more than that."

"Well... " You begin, trying to formulate a response, "I guess it's also the maidens. Do you-?"

"Mipha. It's obvious when you think about it."

You pause, considering... Yeah... yeah if there was anyone who fit the elder's description it'd probably be Mipha.

"Well hey, one of six down before we even get started! This should be a snap."

Zelda shakes her head, "No... no there's... there's something missing...."

"What do you mean?"

Zelda lets out a stream of air, shaking her head, "Forget it, the elders know so much more than us. I should... just defer to them..."

"Zelda?" You ask, concerned.

Zelda looks back towards the statue, folding her arms over her chest again, "Nothing, I was just... reminded of another time I was here."

Now you're just curious. "What happened?"

She waves a hand dismissively, "I was fourteen, and I... started to have odd thoughts towards.... well someone. Nothing I could repeat. They... scared me, honestly."

Oh?

"Naturally, I went to the elders and explained them. They told me that these thoughts weren't appropriate for a princess and that I must have been slipping back into that... violent state I was at before."

She looks back at the water with half-lidded eyes, lost in the memory, "So... I was made to pray here. Pray until I could control those thoughts. I passed out here, terrified of myself and unsure of what to do. The elders did carry me back inside, but I... I tried to control them from now on. The books helped, and... I went on without... slipping."

She lowers her head, and mutters something you only barely catch, "Paya still doesn't know why I avoided her for the next month..."
Your brow furrows as you consider what she told you, and then something clicks.
Oh.

A SPEECH WOULD BE A VERY BAD IDEA.

GM Advice: Seriously though, trying a speech right now would be stupid.

[X] Offer what comfort you can; Zelda needs a shoulder to cry on here.
[X] As soon as you're able, find someone else to help. One of the Zora elders, even Mipha (NOT Sidon!) would be helpful here.

You put a hand on Zelda's shoulder, giving it a squeeze. Zelda just looks at you, raising an eyebrow, "Hey, what is it Link? I'm... well I'm okay. You don't need to worry about me."

"Of course I'm going to worry about you, you're my friend," You tell her, and she gives you a small smile.

She reaches up with her right hand towards yours but pauses as a faint glow forms on both your hands, that same symbol lighting up. Her mouth curls into a slight frown, and Zelda's hand falls to her side as she shrugs off your hand.

"We should... Probably confirm if Mipha is one of these maidens," She says as she walks past you, not making eye contact.

"Right..."

Finding the Zora was easy enough, Sidon and Undyne weren't hard to spot. They were at some communal dining area, tearing into fresh fish and whatever preserved meats the Sheikah had lent them.

"There they are!" Undyne calls to the two of you, waving a mug around and spilling its contents over Muzu, "Zelda, Link! Come and join us!"

Zelda stops, evidently trying to think of how to possibly broach such a serious topic to the gathered Zora. The Zora though are quick witted and all pause to look towards you and Zelda. Sidon is the first to truly react, his expression becoming serious as he stands up, "What's wrong? Has something happened?"

Zelda shakes her head and finally gets her feet to move towards the table, "No, it's... The elders have bestowed... or rather told us of a duty Link and I share."

Kapson nods, "Very well, when would you like the ceremony performed?"

Your palm meets your face as Zelda stares at Kapson with a blissful lack of comprehension, "What? Why would we... No, the gods have given us a duty to save Hyrule, and free it from the curse of the Blood moon, as the..." She pauses, taking a breath, "As the Hero of Hyrule, and the goddess blessed Princess of legend."

The reaction is immediate, the Zora leaping to their feet or staring at you. Undyne's drink slips from her fingers as Sidon lets out a shocked "What?!"

Only Mipha seems to not have much of a reaction, looking between her fellow Zora with a measure of confusion.

This... wasn't quite the reaction you were expecting.

"Your majesty, while I wholeheartedly believe you are indeed blessed by the goddesses is there any proof this b- Link, is indeed the hero?" Muzu asks, to which Zelda nods. She then gestures to you to raise your hand, and you comply as Zelda raises her own. Once again, that symbol appears, and the Zoras eyes widen, Muzu himself stepping back as if a great fire had suddenly erupted in front of them.

Then, they all rushed forward, kneeling to the two of you. You're rather taken aback by their sudden strange actions, and Zelda seems to clench her jaw slightly.

Only Mipha doesn't, and she walks in front of the Zora still seemingly lost as to their actions, "Don't you think this is rather extreme? I understand they have been blessed with a truly great destiny, but they're still the same Link and Zelda they were an hour ago."

"Lady Mipha, you never were able to complete your education to understand the significance of such a thing. But perhaps we are being too hasty to bend our knee to our dear friends," Kapson says, and the priest climbs to his feet with the other Zora following suit, "I'm sure this must be overwhelming and awkward for you two."

Little bit...

"Perhaps a history lesson is in order? Jiahto, if you'd please," Sidon says, gesturing to the elderly Zora.

Jiahto nods, "Of course, let us all take a seat."

You all do so, crowding around the elderly Zora, even moving a few tables so everyone can crowd in. You take a seat to Zelda's left, while Mipha sits to her right as Jiahto and Kapson takes a seat in front of you, with the others crowding around.

"Now for Link's sake I'll try to summarize a very long tale about the Zora's creation myth, as I'm sure Zelda remembers the old lessons I gave her," Jiahto asks and Zelda nods.

"Long ago, the great water spirit Ruto was tasked by the Golden Goddess Nyaru to watch over the land that would become Lanayru and the Zora who were to populate it, under the guidance of the winged goddess Hylia who watched over the Hylians. She turned the land into a canvas, the domain itself a great work of art she worked tirelessly to perfect. Yet one day a great calamity arrived, destroying all it touched. Ruto fought dearly, willing to sacrifice herself for her sacred domain yet the monsters the Calamity brought forth were too numerous even for a great spirit. She could not turn to Hylia for aid, for she too was besieged by this encompassing calamity and Ruto prepared to face her end with dignity."

Jiahto then looks towards you, eying the mark on your hand, "Yet, seemingly from out of nowhere a warrior arrived like a thunderclap. Drenched in the blood of countless battles he tore through the enemy's ranks as though he was possessed by the very demons he slew. Ruto saw this warrior, and knew that he was a god who sought only battle, whose ferociousness could sunder the bonds of time."

"The fierce deity," You respond, and the old Zora nods.

"Yes, the very god the Imperials hold as their patron, and there is some overlap in our myths. According to our myths though this warrior joined forces with Ruto, and together they drove off the monsters from Lanayru. His bravery, strength, and selflessness as he would risk his safety for Ruto stirred the spirit's emotions, and she developed deep feelings for the god. Yet she was forced to put them aside to save Hylia. To aid the warrior she took a scale from her own body, and turned it into a Sapphire, that would protect him with the power of her love. This is where the practice of Zora woman crafting armour for their beloved with their own scales comes from."

Mipha for some reason spares a quick glance towards you, before looking back at Jiahto, "The warrior fought through the calamity, his strength aided by a blessing from Farore, until he reached Hylia and together they banished the calamity, the goddess developing her own bond with the hero. With the land now at peace, the warrior could finally rest and when he did so he felt that the feelings the goddess and spirit had for him blossomed too in his heart. He took the both of them as his lovers, and it is said Nayru herself blessed their love. From the union with Hylia came the bloodline of the Hyrule ruling family, and from Ruto came the line of the Zora royalty."

"Yet the day they would have to return to heaven approached, and many Zora fell into despair. Ruto loved the Zora dearly, and her heart broke at this. A solution was devised with Hylia, but it would take Din's flame to work and Din is a proud goddess who would not give it up easily. The fierce deity approached her, and Din told him if he would best her champion Nabooru in battle she would give him her flame. Nabooru and the warrior fought in a climactic battle that nearly saw him dead, yet the sapphire given to him by Ruto protected him enough that he just managed to best her. Nabooru was not shamed by this loss, however, and developed a great respect for the fierce deity. So great in fact that the child they sired, and afterward any male born to the Gerudo would keep his fierce fighting spirit and thus would be named their king."

"Returning with Din's flame, they enacted their plan. The Zora who wished to go up to the heavens would be granted their wish, Ruto took feathers from Hylia and affixed them to these Zora, and the fierce diety used Din's flame to create an updraft to lift them into the air. These Zora took the name "Rito" and soar in the heavens even to this day. Their work done, the gods left the land, and the people promised to always remember them through worship. Yet suddenly the fierce deity turned around and with a single sword slash struck his name from history itself. He told the people that it was the other gods they should worship, not he as they would never know peace if they honoured him, for he was a god of war and bloodshed, of fury and vengeance."

Jiahto's eyes drifted to your hand, "But he was not abandoning them. For when Calamity returned, a hero will rise blessed with the royal symbol, and clad in vestments of Farore. The fierce deity would empower this hero with an unbreakable spirit, his sword would be the bane of evil. Hylia too, who loved all the people of Hyrule claimed that the Princess of her line will always aid this hero, and together they would banish any calamity that threatened our land."

Kapson speaks up then, "This myth serves as the basis of Zora religion, and why love is considered sacred amongst our people. We've become so famous for it that many Hylians, Rito and Gerudo specifically ask for Zora priests to officiate their marriages. Though we Zora have not always seen eye to eye with the royal family, in many ways we are always bound to the blessed hero. It is why we bend knee to you, Link, for not only is the mark upon your hand, the mark illuminates to indicate that it has been granted to you by Farore. There is no doubt the fierce deity's spirit burns brightly inside of you. Well, to the Zora anyways, I understand the Sheikah and Hylians have a very different interpretation of that myth."

You look to Zelda who turns her head to you, both of you raise the hands the mark had appeared on and bring them close. Sure enough, they light up and the spot illuminated on your hand is where Farore is depicted in the holy trinity. You... really are the chosen hero in at least two cultures. But if it was some holy symbol... why was it only lighting up when your left hand was close to Zelda's right?

You test it, taking away your hand suddenly. Sure enough, it dims and lights up again when you bring it close. So you keep doing it, Zelda's eyes widening as she realizes it too.

It takes about fifteen minutes of you and Zelda doing this and even adding in sound effects before Mipha finally says, "Are we... perhaps too entertained by this?"

Everyone immediately goes ramrod straight in their seats, pretending the fifteen minutes had not occurred. Zelda coughs awkwardly before saying, "A-anyways, there is a reason we needed to see you. For the elders say we must find six maidens to aid us, just like... just like our parents did..."

Muzu looks solemn as he says, "Queen Oren would have been honoured that Tetra's daughter would ask her own to follow in her footsteps. But... Lady Mipha, is it something you wish?"

Mipha had her head bowed, "I..." She begins, clearly struggling with emotion, "I would...wish to be closer to her... but I don't know..."

A massive red hand claps her on the shoulder, and she looks up teary eyed to her brothers smiling face, "I do not think there is anyone better suited than you, Mipha."

"It's... it's not something you can choose..." Zelda quietly says, "It's a role given to you by the gods."

Kapson claps a hand over his mouth, his eyes as wide as saucers, "But... but that would mean..."

Mipha looks confused, glancing between Kapson and Zelda, "What's going on, what do you mean?"

Sidon's eyes were just as wide, and when he speaks it seems that even the great Zora prince was in a state of shock, "Mipha, mother took on the mantle of Sage of water not just at Queen Tetra's request, but to become a symbol to our people. That she would put her life on the line for the Zora people just as our forebearer Ruto did. To be chosen by the gods would mean... you are the reincarnation of Ruto..."

Mipha eyes widen, her pupils little more than thin slits. She clumsily pulls herself from the bench, stumbling backward and wavering for a moment before she sets a hand on the table to steady herself, "But... I... there is no possible way I could be..."

Kapson looks to Zelda, "There is... one way to tell..."

Zelda nods, and gently places her hand on Mipha's own, the symbol on its back glowing as intensely as it does when it is near its sibling...

"FUH- ZION SHA!!" Mipha and Zelda yell, striking that ridiculous pose to no avail. The Zora and Zelda were certain that they would need to activate Mipha's latent powers like Zelda did with her light arrows and you with your extend-y slash thing, and thus were making them try a variety of rituals after Zelda mashing her hand against Mipha started to become very awkward groping.

You were left unable to do anything but be alone with your thoughts, and your mind drifted back to what Zelda had told you earlier.

It must have put a very odd expression on your face as Undyne had walked up to you, crossed her arms and said "Alright, what's eating you?"

You try to wave her off, saying "It's... It's nothi-"

"By the way, if you don't tell me I'm going to dunk you in the Sanke Carp pond until you do. I don't care if you're the hero, I'll get my dunk on."

...

So you tell her. Undyne to your surprise doesn't say anything, just sit next to you.

When you finish for a moment she doesn't say anything until, "That's.... heavy stuff Link."

She looks towards Zelda, who was now carrying Mipha on her shoulders as the Zora Princess shouted "Water! Water! Water!" While waving her arms and the Zora captain let out a long breath of air.

"I'll... I'll try to talk to her. What she went through... it's hard to be... different when everyone says it's wrong. I know exactly what she went through, and she doesn't need someone screaming at the elders for messing up or telling her how she should feel. Just... someone she can talk to who understands..."

You look over to Undyne, "You... went through the same thing?"

Undyne laughs, shaking her head, "Ha, something like that. Only into girls. Don't worry though, Big sis Undyne's going to be there for her! Fuhuhu!"

She glares at you when she notices your expression though, "Oi, I've got a century on you two brats and I'm a guard captain. I can be the mature voice of reason... sometimes."

She rolls her eyes when your expression doesn't change, "Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine, I'll tell her the secret to picking up girls last."

You both laugh, and turn back to watch Mipha and Zelda, who had apparently run into each other while screaming "MAIDEN MODE: ACTIVATE!"

"You know.... even if you want to help her heal your feelings are still there," Undyne suddenly says, and your head whips around to look at her, "Just... don't end up thinking it'll hurt your friendship when she's able to make that choice..."

You don't get a chance to respond when a bright light washes over the two of you and you both turn to stare at Zelda and Mipha. Both bore expressions of pure shock, as though not expecting that Zelda placing her hand over Mipha's heart would work this time, the symbol on Zelda's hand glowing as brightly as the one on your own is. Golden flames danced around their bodies, forming an aura that grew with intensity with every passing second until finally, something seems to erupt from Zelda's back with enough force that you have to raise your hand to protect your face, yet you manage just barely while squinting to catch sight of these... gossamer sheets? They last only for a second, but they had snuffed out the flames and left motes of light drifting through the air before they too vanish.

You lower your hand, only just catching a white downy feather had gotten stuck to it. You try to brush it off but a breeze catches it and it flies off, and you quickly lose track of it. Looking back to the two girls they hand pulled away from each other, Mipha staring at her hands in shock which had gathered orbs of water in them. She flicked her wrists, and the power over the water vanished and they dropped to the ground.

"Mipha!" Her brother yells, running up to his sister, "Are you alright?! How do you feel?!"

"I... I feel..." Mipha begins, inspecting herself, "I feel..."

Everyone seems to lean forward.

"Exactly the same," Mipha announces, looking around at everyone with an expression of utter confusion, "It worked Zelda, right? That was... I mean, it did something... I was doing something..."

Zelda just mouths "I have no idea," while patting herself down, apparently concerned that that might have been real fire and she might have accidentally set her clothes aflame, though thankfully it wasn't the case.

"I... believe we can call this a success," Kapson announces, "Mipha truly is the reincarnation of Ruto, and I bow to her-"

An earsplitting scream cuts Kapson off, and you all turn to a nearby house ready for action. Mipha to her shock even gathering some water around herself, though it was shaky and unrefined to how Undyne does it.

Seconds later a young woman bursts out of the house, holding her head where... two rabbit ears had sprouted.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! I MESSED UP! IMPA HELP!!"

Judging by the way Zelda was pinching the bridge of her nose and the muttered "Akko..." this was actually a common occurrence and you relax, the others following suit as the girl runs off.

Sidon turns to Kapson, "Ah, Kapson dear friend. Perhaps you could help..."

"Yes yes, I'll follow her."

Stepping up beside Zelda, who was still pinching the bridge of her nose with her eyes closed, you ask "So... Novice Battle Mage?"

"She tries but well... she never did get a chance to complete her formal training. I don't think I'd be much better if I tried advanced spells without learning the basics," A slightly exasperated Zelda tells you.

"She's um... quite loud," Mipha observes, walking up to the two of you.

"She's nice! Well... we never really spend time together..." Zelda says, suddenly looking awkward, "Impa keeps her very busy and I um..."

Zelda wrings her hands as she mutters under her breath, refusing to meet either of your gazes, "Don't really leave my room..."
You and Mipha both fail to stop the change in your expressions as Zelda shrinks, knowing she was being judged.

Juuuuuudged.

++++
It's eventually decided that the Zora elders will be staying with their Sheikah counterparts, while you, Mipha, and Sidon will be staying at Zelda's home. Undyne will be rooming with one of the village guards, and she and Sidon had went off to speak to them about helping guard the village while they were staying there while the elders went to that temple, leaving you, Mipha and Zelda to find her home.

Which was... remarkably easy.

"That's.... that's where you've been living all these years?!" You manage to choke out, looking up at the massive manor sitting in front of you.

"Y-yes," Zelda replies, sound so... guilty and ashamed, and you mentally curse at yourself for saying it like that.

Mipha was having the opposite reaction, a small bit of drool coming from her mouth, "Ah, it looks like heaven. All it needs is a pond that's just the right temperature and a larder filled to bursting..."

It was built in the same style as the other homes, but scaled up to cover a truly massive area. It had a second story in some parts, but for the most part relied on width rather than height. You expected there was far more to the home you weren't seeing, but the size alone gave you a fairly solid impression.

Approaching it you see a girl on her hands and knee's cleaning the entranceway with a wet cloth. At first, you think Zelda even had a servant to go with her manor-home until you realize she was wearing the exact same clothes Zelda had worn when you had found her in the river, the same white robe like outfit, the same strange shoes and that sleeveless black shirt with the very high collar. You would have almost thought Zelda had taken this girl's clothes, were it not for the fact she was very, very tall. The girl had very long white hair, with a topknot with two sticks poking out of it and the hair at the sides of her face wrapped in red ribbon to keep it from getting in the way.

Zelda upon catching sight of this girl immediately rushed forward, beaming with joy as she yelled "PAYA!"

Paya looked up, and you immediately noticed she had an eye-like marking on her forward that extended down her nose, with two dots next to her eyes. She also, to your surprise, bore a very close resemblance to Impa, to the point you were sure they were related. But while Impa looked like she could kill with a glance this girl... didn't. In fact, it reminded you of how Zelda looks whenever she was unsure of herself.

"L-lady Z-zelda?!" Paya stammers out as she climbs to her feet, just as Zelda closed the distance and hugged the girl, Paya making a very undignified squeak.

Zelda hugs her friend for a moment, then pulls away, a bright smile on her face, "Paya it's so good to see you again!"

A small smile breaks through the girl's demeanor, who you think was still surprised from Zelda's sudden return judging by her stammering, "I prayed for your safe return, lady Zel-" She stops, finally noticing you and Mipha standing behind Zelda. You raise your hand in a wave.

...Huh, you didn't think it was possible for someone's eyes to grow that big, or a face that red.

"A MAN!?!" Paya shrieks and... hides behind Zelda, covering her face with her hands and shaking like a leaf.

Zelda turns to you, rubbing the back of her neck, the wheels in her head almost visibly spinning as she tried to figure out how to explain her friend's actions, "Um this is Paya, she's Impa's niece and a dear friend of mine. We've lived together for the last eight years. She's um... very shy."

Oh, this must be Impa's family home then. That explains a lot.

"Paya, this Princess Mipha of the Zora and Link, an old friend of mine." Zelda introduces you and Mipha to Paya, who peeks out from behind the Princess, hands creeping down enough to make her eyes visible.

"H-he.... hel........hel-" The girl stammers out, struggling to even say a single word.

"H-hello, it is a pleasure to meet the two of you!!" She finally manages, before going back to trying to hide behind the much shorter Zelda. You hear Paya whisper to the Princess in a rather clearly excited voice, "I managed to get the greeting out, Lady Zelda!"

This was the friend Zelda had always been mentioning.

Do you... say anything to her? Now would be the perfect opportunity to ask anything of her.
[] Ask her about herself.

[X] Ask her about herself.

"You... I... Me...!?" Paya sputters, and for a moment you think you had somehow managed to offend the poor girl, until she shouts "YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT ME?!"

"...Yes?"

She retreats a bit behind Zelda, but she seems to actually be pondering the quest. Finally, she looks up and says, "W-well, my name is Paya. Th-the reason I was named Paya is because I have a birthmark shaped like a Papaya seed!"

Huh... that's kinda a cute story. But... why was that the first thing she'd bring up about herself?

"Where is it?" Mipha innocently asks.

"It's on my l-left- Um..." Paya begins before both she and Zelda turn crimson and look away, leaving Mipha looking quite confused and you doing your best to keep your imagination in check.

Zelda is the first to recover, coughing into her fist,"Ahem, Well... Paya's also the daughter of two famous researchers! Dr. Purah and Dr. Symin! Ah, Link, you might remember meeting Aunti- I mean Dr. Purah!" Zelda tells you, and you think back. Auntie.... Was there someone Zelda would call Auntie?

You shake your head, and Zelda's expression falls for a second before brightening, "Oh if that's the case I can tell you all about her! She's really amazing, an adventurer and researcher of ancient Sheikah runes and magic! While she's not her sister Impa, she's more than capable of braving any danger! Oh oh, and unc- err, Dr. Symin is trying to document all there is in Hyrule, creating a handy compendium that travelers can refer too! He's the one that inspired me to document everything in my Sheikah Slate!"

"They sound pretty incredible, are they in?" You ask, and instantly regret it. Paya looks away, her expression falling as she tugs on her robe.

"M-mother and father are... very busy with their work..." She explains quietly, "It's...it's very important to our village, s-so they r-rarely have time to return. I-I'm not a scientist like them so I just keep out of their way when they do..."

Zelda reaches over and gently takes one of Paya's hands in her own, "That's not true, you figured out the puzzle to unlock the Sheikah slate! We wouldn't have known it was there in the first place if it wasn't for you. I told you, Auntie and Uncle are always so proud of your dedication to your spiritual studies, when they hear how you discovered the slate they'll be overjoyed!"

"I-I'm just glad I could help you, Lady Zelda..."

[X] What's that on her face?

"M-my face?!" Paya exclaims, once again turning red as she in a panic tried to wipe her face clean "Is-Is there something on my-Oh!" She pauses, apparently just realizing what you meant, "Are you perhaps referring to the crest?"

"This symbol is a sort of talisman for the Sheikah. It wards off evil. It is customary for those with a long Sheikah lineage to have this crest inked onto their skin to honor their past," Paya explains, a slight confidence in her voice. It seems whenever she can explain her culture Paya seems to gain a bit of confidence.

Now that you think about it, didn't the Elders have similar markings?

"Zelda mentioned your dedication to spiritual studies, are you training to be a monk or priestess?" You ask, and Paya hesitates before answering, for the first time since she started talking actually looking you in the eye,

"I... simply wish to follow my ancestors teaching's, a-and aid my people, however, I can. I pray every day for the safety of the village, Lady Impa and Lady Zelda, and do whatever small things I can to h-help relieve their burdens."

She pauses, looking at her feet before glancing up, you give her a reassuring smile but that only makes her turn crimson again and return to hiding behind Zelda, who had once again taken Paya's hand, Zelda's expression pained and almost... angry.

And when Paya had met your gaze you understood why, what Zelda had meant when she said before that Paya always pushed herself. Paya's eyes were bloodshot and slightly unfocused, with deep dark circles under them. Her hands were thickly callused, nails bearing strong evidence of being constantly exposed to water and soap. Her posture, the way she seemed to never be steady on her feet, her whole body suggested Paya rarely slept and constantly was working.

Paya seemed a sweet, devoted girl, who even if she was being formal seemed to genuinely care for Zelda's friendship. You could... understand why Zelda viewed Paya so highly. You also could see why she had been so set in getting research information for Paya, hoping that something would get Paya to research and gain confidence in herself, and not work herself into an early grave.

You also understood why Zelda didn't want you telling anyone about her scars. Paya had undoubtedly spent the months Zelda was away fervently praying for Zelda's safety and was probably ecstatic Zelda was safe.

Finding out about the nightmare Zelda had experienced instead would hurt her dearly....

[X] Is she... alright?

Okay, you need to ask. You've seen beaten, half starved dogs that flinch less.

"Paya, are you alright?" You ask, drawing a surprised look from both Sheikah girls, "You seem a little... on edge."

"I...I am quite alright, master Link! P-please forgive me if I gave you that impression!" Paya stammers out, and Zelda's non-reaction suggested she was being honest.

So, Paya was always like this then. You're beginning to see where Zelda gets a lot of her... Zelda-ness from.

"Well, we should probably head inside, before Impa catches us here chatting," Zelda observes, causing Paya to clap her hands to her face in shock and embarrassment.

"M-my apologies! I've forgotten to invite you all inside!"

And thus a profusely apologizing Paya ends up leading you into the manor into some sort of entrance hall. You were surprised at the almost rustic appearance to the manor, expecting it to be far more extravagantly decorated from what you remember of the castle. Instead, everything was very deliberately minimalistic, with only a minimalistic ink painting and hanging scrolls depicting Sheikah characters in this entrance hall, with corded designs painted onto the walls. After hanging up your cloak and hat you try to walk forward into the manor proper only for Zelda to roughly grab you, and with a very dangerous tone says "Boots."

Turning around, you do indeed see that both Paya and Zelda had removed their footwear before entering the manor. Realizing you had probably almost just violated some custom you quickly kick your boots off while doing your best not to look embarrassed. Mipha, who was already barefoot, looks momentarily unsure of what she should do before Zelda runs out and grabs the bucket of water Paya had left outside, along with the cloth, and Mipha rather quickly cleans her feet off.

Now unable to track mud over the meticulously clean house you all finally enter the manor proper and let Paya guide you through it. From what you could tell the Sheikah even at points of what they would consider luxury kept to very minimalistic style. Strangely, all the lights seemed to be made of that strange, clay-like metal the shrine and guardian you killed with some type of blue crystal set in it, with a few glowing blue lines. The glass portion of it seemed to imitate the warm glow of a lamp, but they seemed just a tad too bright, so lamp shades were used liberally. You also notice similar devices built into the floor, slightly off coloured wood indicating they were relatively recent additions to the structure. Walking near them you notice a slight chill that was refreshing on a warm day such as this. Some sort of temperature changing device?

Eventually, you are lead to a rather sparse room, with a bed that was very low to the ground. There were closets and a dresser built into a wall, and a table that was also very low to the ground with a vase on it but overall the room was surprisingly sparse.

"Th-this will be your room, master Link. Please feel free to leave your belongings here," Paya tells you as you enter the room, looking it over, "I w-will now show Lady Mipha to her-"

"If it isn't too much trouble, if you have a pond do you mind if I stay there?" Mipha asks, and Paya looks very nervous when she realizes she can't immediately think of an answer.

"Of course you can Mipha! Don't worry Paya, Mipha's belongings are all waterproof so she'll be storing them underwater," Zelda reassures Paya as Mipha nods. Paya seems a bit relieved, but still rather unsure of how to treat her Zora guest.

You meanwhile take your time to start unbuckling your belts, setting your sword and shield against the wall, with Paya watching you from the corner of her eye. Seeing no place to hang up your mail shirt you turn to Paya and Zelda and ask, "Hey, do you have a stand or something I can hang mail up and clean it?"

Paya nods rapidly, "Y-yes, I can fetch the necessary items from the armoury," she tells you, before looking very nervous, wringing her hands. Finally she seems to work up enough courage to suddenly blurt out, "A-are you a knight, master Link?"

You blink, before turning to Zelda, "Am I?"

Zelda taps a finger against her lip, clearly thinking about it, "I... think I need to do a ritual to make you a proper knight. But you're still technically my bodyguard..."

"Why do you want to know if Link's a knight?" Mipha asks Paya, and the Sheikah girl claps her hands over her face, turning bright crimson again.

"M-my apologies for being rude!" Paya says very rapidly, "The elders have been speaking about the return of the legendary hero and how h-he'd be like the old knights and I-I a-always liked stories about them and master Link has a shining sword and shield l-like them! H-he also seems v-very gall-" The rest of Paya's sentence is swallowed up by her suddenly sounding like someone strangling a mouse, and she fully covers her face with her hands, shaking like a leaf.

You rub the back of your head, trying to think of how to make the situation less awkward for Paya, "Well... I wouldn't say I'm gallant. Maybe you're twigging on me being this legendary hero thing?"

"W-w-w-wha-" Paya stammers out, lowering her hands enough to reveal her wide eyes.

"It's quite true Paya. See, if you bring Link and Zelda's hands together the royal symbol appears!" Mipha helpfully adds, grabbing both your and Zelda's (who was pinching the bridge of her nose with her eyes closed) hands and bringing them together close enough to make the symbol appear. "I'm also the maiden of water, who does... something. With water I presume."

Paya doesn't say anything, simply staring at you white as a sheet. Then she turns red and drops. For a split second, you think she fainted, and you rush forward to catch her before you realize she was only prostrating herself on the floor.

"I-I... Ho... hono... F-forgive... p-p-p-p-p-p-p-ple..."

"H-hey! You don't need to bow for me, we're all equals here," You exclaim, honestly completely at a loss at what to do with the girl. You really need to get it to sink into your head how important you being the legendary hero is to the Sheikah.

Zelda, however, is on the ball, carefully taking Paya and bringing her up to her feet, "It's alright, Paya, you don't need to bow to anyone. Come on, let's go get that stand for Link."

Paya nods rapidly from behind her hands, and Zelda leads her off down the hall, leaving you alone with Mipha.

"Poor girl..." Mipha quietly says, looking down the hall Zelda and Paya disappeared down, "She doesn't seem to know how to react to us at all."

"We probably shouldn't have mentioned the legendary hero maiden stuff..." You say, scratching the back of your head.

Mipha just slumps over, hanging her head, her head flippers limply hanging over her face, "I thought she had trouble believing it..."

"Think that's just us..."
++++

Paya and Zelda return quickly with a wooden bar with hooks and a chain that you use to hang up your mail, before Zelda drags the other girls off to take a bath, very expressly informing you that after they are done you would too, with violence awaiting you if you refused. While you had intended to explore this left you with the rather necessary task of unpacking all of your stuff.

Which for the most part consisted of you tossing clothes into a laundry hamper and inspecting all your items for wear and tear. You did manage to unpack all of your bags though, laying out the contents in front of you and dividing them up for how they would be packed away in the house, even packing a few away in your sparse room. Just in time too, as Zelda and Mipha soon peak into the room, Zelda's hair still damp despite the sun.

"Hey, you can go wash now. Just follow the path up the back of the manor to the shack up the cliffside. There's bathing supplies up there already. If you're going to soak in the hot spring wash yourself first THEN get into the water," Zelda informs you, which makes you raise an eyebrow.

"You have an entirely separate building for this?"

Zelda shakes her head at you, rolling her eyes at your seemingly obvious question, "It's directly on the hot spring, and Dr. Purah made it so the path is always traversable, even in the winter. Besides, Paya.... well, the village hot spring is too crowded..."

"...understood, where will you guys be when I'm back?"

She tells you, before adding, "Since it's hot out Paya is getting some chilled juice. So try to get back before it's warm."

And with that Mipha and Zelda leave you, allowing you to quickly make your way through the manor to reach the back. The building was certainly large, with a large central courtyard. The courtyard was a meticulously cared for garden, with a large pond and to your surprise, large humming Sheikah machines tucked into each corner with a large central unit sitting in the middle of the far wall. Blue flames danced on stands throughout the courtyard, and the machines glowed that same blue and even seemed to have the blue-flames in the center of them. Were they being powered by it somehow? And what was the strange stone circle in the middle of the courtyard that was also glowing blue?

Filing that thought away, for now, you leave the manor through the back entrance, and are amazed to indeed see a path snaking up the cliff side to some hut. The path seemed to be made of solid stone slabs that had that same Sheikah technology installed in the house scattered amongst the path at very specific places. A roof had also been erected over the path, which would protect whoever was walking the path from snow or rain.

Putting on some old sandals that had been set in the entranceway you make your way up the path to the shack, which seemed to have been a single building connected to an enclosure from which water was pouring out a grate on the side of the cliff as a waterfall delivered steaming water into what you can only assume was a pool hidden behind the enclosure. It was exposed to the elements but even from here you could feel the heat from the hot spring.

Entering the shack proper you see it had been set up very much like the showers you had experienced back at Castle Town, with a cubby area and a shower area. Except, this place's shower area lacked a far wall, which opened up to the hot spring which was a rather brilliant colour and had steam hanging over it like a mist. The Shower area itself had clearly been constructed with Sheikah technology, the floors, walls and shower heads were constructed with that same material with the odd swirling designs.

You wash quickly in the shower, it apparently working by pushing a button and letting a stream of hot spring water wash over you. Push the button again to turn it off.

Soaking was enjoyable, the current sweeping away any debris and the heat doing its level best to make you forget you had to keep this short.

So after drying yourself with helpfully provided towels and getting dressed you quickly make your way back to manor, and head over to the room Zelda told you to meet them at. Sure enough, the girls were all there and enjoying a glass of chilled grape juice as they chatted (or rather Mipha and Zelda did) around a very close to the ground table, sitting on pillows. As soon as you enter the room Paya immediately gets up to serve you a drink, but she was shaking so badly that Zelda had to physically stop her to let you serve yourself.

Unfortunately, you weren't given much time to sit down, as a growl from your stomach reminded you that you hadn't eaten. Paya immediately leaps to her feet, exclaiming quite loudly "I-I shall get a meal started, m-master Link!"

Zelda and Mipha stop her though, grins on their faces, "Hold on, let Link cook."

"Wh-what?! B-but it would be rude to have master Link cook Lady Zelda!"

Zelda just smiles wider, "Trust me Paya, sit down and relax. You won't regret it."

"We Zora eat our food raw, so please believe me when I say that it is indeed well worth it," Mipha adds.

You just shrug, "Alright, I can whip something up. Zelda you mind directing me to the kitchen?"

Zelda nods, and does indeed take you to the kitchen. Like many manors, it was separate from the main building and connected to a large dining room. However, it seemed there was a stove made with Sheikah technology there, and beside the larder seemed to be some Sheikah cabinet that seemed to... keep food cold from what Zelda told you.

She quickly explains where everything is and how they work, and then leaves to let you work. Now alone you take the opportunity to look at what their food situation looks like, and feel your jaw drop as you truly get into the scale:

Gourmet meat, Cabbages, Spinach, Sneaky River Smails, Carp, Hearty Radishes, Salt, Hearty truffles, cane sugar, a variety of noodles, Chickaloo Tree Nuts, jars of courser bee honey, fleet lotus seeds, fortified pumpkins, fresh milk, goat butter, rice wine and vinegar, hylian rice, all kinds of local herbs, grapes, strawberries, raspberries, raw bird meat, eggs, barrels of rock salt, silent shrooms, hylian shrooms, stamella shrooms, spicy peppers, swift carrots, apples, turnips, yams, onion, leeks, ginger, bamboo shoots, cucumbers, cooking oils, along with a bunch of other stuff. You'd be better off listing the things that weren't here, like wheat and flour, ale, potatoes and olive oil.

Still, you have a fully stocked kitchen at your disposal, and you've been given full reign with a fairly decent amount of time to do whatever you wish.

Already, you can feel yourself salivating at the potential of what you can make.

Write-in recipe, Feel free to use real world recipes and sub in ingredients with their Hylian counterparts. For general cooking skill level assume for any meal Link is equivalent to a fully staffed crew of the highest Michelin-rated restaurants, and then assume he is much better than that. Link will need to at least produce a main course and dessert. At most assume he has three hours max to produce the entire meal. You can use BotW recipes if you guys can't think of anything. Try not to go overboard with walls of text. In fact to save space just keep votes as a plan only, with the plan the name of the dish but with the recipe included but lacking a [X],
[] Write-in.

Feel like this is a vote I'm going to get a lot of questions on. Just in general, feel free to go nuts but try to keep it to something that tastes good.

Edit: For an example of the vote I want something like:
[] Plan Peanut butter and jam sandwich.
-two slices of bread
-Peanut butter
-Jam

Spread peanut butter on one slice, spread jam on other slice. Combine and enjoy sandwich.

[X] Link's Seven Course Battle Plan Against The Great Enemy

You are Princess Zelda Saria Ilia Hyrule, and you're currently wondering what Link was doing.

Not because you were starving. Noooo. You're a princess, you won't let yourself be impatient because your stomach dictated it!

Rather it had just... been a couple hours. You hope Aunties refurbished kitchen hadn't confounded him, he genuinely enjoyed cooking and you didn't want him to have a miserable time while staying here.

Mipha at least seemed to be enjoying herself, sipping at the cup of juice and asking questions about Sheikah art and architecture, your fellow Princess having the Zora's appreciation of art in all its forms. Watching the young Zora girl quietly speak and explain Zora silver working you can't help but be reminded of your eternal gratitude to her. She had done so much for you, keeping you alive on your journey, healing those scars and simply ensuring you didn't have to worry about... *ahem* well, you were glad you didn't have to fish out a dress one morning.

And now... you've dragged her into something that's... well you aren't fully sure what it really is yet. Mipha was the Maiden of Water, and just you... poking her had her somehow manifest rudimentary Hydrokinesis, you think.

You watch her closely, from the subtle way her delicate fingers closed around the cup, to her slender frame shifting slightly as she turned to answer a stuttered question from your dear Paya and the way her crimson scales glistened like rubies as afternoon turned to dusk. She had grown to be so much like her mother, beautiful and kind, her every movement as graceful as a dancer's. She didn't look like someone who had spent years starving in the wilds, killing men with her bare hands just to survive one more day while you lived in luxury, wasting your days away in your room.

You try to ignore the voice in the back of your head reminding you that you've killed too, and you force down the guilt with a few deep gulps from your cup.

You spare a glance to Paya, the now fading sunlight making her snow-white hair glow with the gentle beauty of a winter morning, her nervous blush a dusting of pink on her pale skin. A smile tugs at your lips for a moment, but vanishes when you remember what you had noticed about her in the baths. It may not have been appropriate for a young lady to stare so long, but it had lead you to realize that Paya has lost a decent amount of weight since the last time you've seen her, and seemed... unhealthy. She must have been so worried about you, and already so busy she had started to forget more often to eat without you there to remind her. You know Impa regularly ensured the larder was stocked and would physically force you and Paya to eat when you had forgotten to feed yourselves but Impa was always so busy...

Maybe with Link taking over cooking duties she'll take the time to rest, recover her health and maybe sleep once in awhile...

Link... Mipha asks if you're alright but you shrug it off, half-heartedly adding to the conversation as your mind settles onto your childhood friend as it had so often done so these last few weeks, but that strange, unaccountable slight fluttering in your gut that you have with the other girls had turned into a heavy, acidic pit that left you almost nauseous. He was your... counterpart, a hero bearing the second piece of the sacred icon of which you also bear, (with the mysterious top part missing, for a reason you weren't sure of) that with you as the true goddess blessed princess was to save Hyrule. He had been... always, since the beginning. It had never been your choice, but destiny leading you to him.

What was even supposed to make things easier to talk... because he just fit so well was just you following fate. In hindsight, it should have been really obvious. But he... he was still your friend. You had been wrong, again but he was still... Link. You still had fun playing around making that terrible ill-prepared video with him and Mipha. He still acted like Link, even with the glowing hand. And didn't you need your knowledge of Sheikah technology for this Nexus? Maybe that meant you can still fix... still have some contr- yeah.

And hey, everyone in your books are always destined to work together as.. p-p-partners, yes. Following this path lead to no longer spending nights in silent agony, tears streaming down your face as your scars burned, your hand clasped over your mouth so as not to wake him. It lead to Mipha being freed from starving in the woods as your friend again and you returning home, if only for a short while. Maybe the more you go with what everyone says your destiny is maybe things will work out...

Ah, you can hear him walking down the halls, very carefully so he's probably carrying food. You look towards the entrance way to greet him, the others realizing and turning as well just as he walks in, carrying trays of... a plate of deviled eggs and bowls of soup? Oh, but whatever it smelled heavenly. He must have made the stock by himself, that was what took him so long.

Paya gasped at the sight of the food, while Mipha clapped her hands in front of her face, eyes wide, "Oh I've never seen eggs made like this! And this bowl of warm liquid filled with such tasty looking things! It all looks wonderful Link! I thank you for providing this meal!"

H-hey... what was with that grin Link gave? Was he... planning something?

++++
You're a fool.

You've seen him cook. The care he puts into every meal. The extravagance fit for nobles tables yet done by a boy who lived alone in the woods for years. Yet you still gave him unrestricted access to the manor's kitchen, somehow not expecting him to go all out.

But he did.

Oh Hylia, he truly did.

"Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, how did you make river snails taste like that Link?! How did... any of this?" A defeated Mipha asks, slumped over the table amidst the piles of dishes.

"L-lady Zelda, I... was this how you ate at the castle?" A collapsed Paya asks, to which you can only numbly shake your head.

"I didn't even know any of this was possible..."

"Aw shucks guys, you're making me blush. This was just something I whipped up with having a few hours of preparation time," That culinary monster tells you, looking away and rubbing the back of his head nervously, with an actual blush, "I was worried I'd made too much for you guys, but I see I took too long and you were all starving!"

Like you could have STOPPED eating. The Salad, the main course! You half want to see him make your favorite fruit cake, just to see the twists he would put into it.

"M-may... may we stay here forever? So he keeps making these meals for us?" Mipha asks you, and you can't lie you honestly consider it. But no, you have a mission to do.

And it isn't because you fear what eating like this from now on would do to your waistline, not at all.

With the sun fully down now you all agree to turn in for the night after getting the dishes clean, something Mipha's minor water control actually helps greatly with. Link was on scrubbing duty, Mipha rinsed them off, you packed them away and Paya dried them.

Afterwards, you all cut through the courtyard to which you get to witness the rather strange sight of Mipha bellyflopping into the pond, floating on the surface face down and slowing sinking into its depths.

"Is... Is she okay?" Paya asks, and several bubbles and tired gurgling answered her.

"She's just tired, we should hurry and turn in as well."

You turn to Link, "Our rooms over that way. Have a good night Link," You tell him.

"Yeah, seeya both tomorrow."

Paya then bows low, stammering out "G-g-g-g-g-g-good night Master Link!" Before snapping upright and practically running from the courtyard.

You sigh and follow after her to the room you two share. It isn't long before your lying in your bed, staring up at the ceiling as you hear Paya writing in her diary. Everything in your room had been left exactly as you left it, Paya taking great pains not to move anything as she cleaned it. In many ways, it was almost like you had never left. What got you was how... disquieting it felt, mixed in with the joy of being home. It was a feeling you don't think you've ever experienced before, and you wonder why...

You hear Paya's pen stop and her turning towards you, "L-lady Zelda, are you going right to sleep and not writing in your Sheikah Slate tonight?"

"I'll write in a minute. I'm just.... I'm sleeping in my bed, in my home..."

"Lady Zelda?" Paya asks, worry clear in her voice.

"It's nothing Paya, I'm just... glad I could return home. Glad I could see you again."

A sigh of relief comes from the Sheikah girl, "I am too, Lady Zelda."

You look over to her, a smile stretching out your face before your reach over and grab your Sheikah Slate from your nightstand, typing in a new entry...

I'm Home...
++++
You are Link, and you hate everything right now.

"Is today not the most joyous of mornings Link!?" Sidon asks you, and you give a tired yes. The Zora Prince seems pleased by your response, as he leaves you alone to yawn and rub your eyes.

You wanted to sleep in, when was the last time you got to sleep in a rich person bed? Why did Zelda wake you at this awful hour?

"You're still sleepy Link? It's 10:30 AM!" An annoyed Zelda asks you, arms folded across her chest with a deep frown. Zelda was wearing some Sheikah style dress, her hair done up similar to Paya with a large bun and the rest of her cascading down her back. Paya was cleaning nearby, but you could see her looking towards you every so often, looking away and scrubbing extra hard whenever she saw you looking back.

You mutter something but evidently Zelda decoded your mumbled out response, as she gives you a small kick to get you off your rear.

"Look, as my guest it is my duty to show you and Mipha around town. So that means you don't get to sleep in!!"

You look towards Mipha, eyes wide and pleading but the traitorous fish looks away, towards the Sheikah girl doing her best to pretend not to be spying, "Isn't Paya going to come along?"

"Of course she is!"

"W-what?! L-lady Zelda I don't think..." Paya manages to get out before Zelda runs over and pulls the nervous girl to her feet.

"Nonsense! When was the last time we walked around town together? Oh it'll be just like those 'girls day out' like in Lon Lon Biyori! Except with the moping ratty grumpypants over there."

"Oi."

Zelda then rubs her chin, clearly realizing something, "Oh actually speaking of that, we might need to get some shopping done. All of Link's clothes are practically falling apart, and you look really out of place with all those cheaply made clothes compared to our Sheikah one's. We might even be able to apply Sheikah technology to that green tunic!"

"...Do I get a choice in any of this?"

"No."

Where does Zelda drag Link? (Pick one)

[X] Shopping!

You are lead by Zelda through the village, passing by Sheikah going about their business or children playing in the street. To your surprise, the center of the village actually had shops, as Zelda explains many Sheikah who ended up arriving over the years are often only part Sheikah, and were merchants or scholars like in Akko's case and were far from the major backlash. Some weren't even aware they were part Sheikah (such as Akko) until the Yiga and Empire accused them. Thankfully those were often rescued by those mentioned Sheikah merchants who blended in with the populace. Not true warriors, but they still had the necessary skills to smuggle them out. Unfortunately, due to recent tragedies what merchants and scouts left the village stuck to only nearby Hylian villages, though Zelda didn't elaborate on what those tragedies were.

As you begin discussing which shop to enter first an old couple approaches your group, or rather Zelda in particular.

"Ah your majesty, it is good to see you have returned home safe and sound," They greet her, giving a bow.

Zelda smiles, "Thank you, how're you both doing?"

"Oh we're both well, but..." The old woman responds hesitating, "We would like to know how the crops will do this year, what with all the rain..."

Zelda's expression sours, and she takes a breath to collect herself, "Well, it's been months since I've been in the village so I'll need to go out and check on them, gather data-"

The old man and woman glanced at each other, clearly worried they had offended the Princess, "No no! It is quite alright, just a prayer to the goddess from you will be enough. No need to trouble yourself."

"Of course, I will do so later. Thank you for informing me."

"You really weren't kidding back then..." You mutter as you watch the couple walk away, before looking over to the blonde Sheikah girl, "You doing alright?"

"I'm fine, I'll pray for them after we complete everything," Zelda tells you, quickly walking past you towards a shop with a sign that read "Enchanted."

Outside the shop was a woman, wearing a Sheikah dress much like Zelda's but with white hair like Paya's. She looked... lifeless was one way of putting it. You try not to think about how much it reminded you of Zelda on her really bad days. But when the woman noticed you she immediately brightened up, practically bouncing with energy, "Oh your majesty! And... your majesty!" She exclaimed, looking between Mipha and Zelda.

She then spots Paya, and the woman takes a step back in shock, raising a hand to her mouth, "Paya!? You're out of Lady Purah's manor! Oh, did you get talked into doing someone's errand again?"

"N-no miss Lasli, I-I-I-I-I'm here to help master Link!" The nervous girl manages to stammer out, and Lasli turns her attention on you.

"Oh! You must be cute boy Claree said arrived with Zelda!"

You don't meet her eyes, scratching your cheek. Well, it wasn't the worst way to be known-

"You should head inside, the others probably would want to see you!"

Wait, others?

The others seem just as confused as you are, and peek into the shop only to see a small crowd of people inside the building along with...

"Kapson? Dento?" Mipha states with some surprise and the two elder Zora turn to greet their Princess.

"Ah good, we were just about to get you Lady Mipha," Kapson states as Zelda and Paya seems to realize who else was crowded into the shop,

"Tome, Rola?"

A Sheikah with dark hair and dark skin does a quick bow, while a younger Sheikah woman with one eye covered by a bandana gives Zelda a friendly wave.

"And... Fuku and Okatsu as well?"

A Sheikah wearing a more long sleeved variant of the Sheikah outfit does a deep bow to Zelda, "Your Majesty," while the other who was wearing a Sheikah outfit consisting of light and dark blues bows respectfully before returning to eying you in particular with suspicion.

"What's going on?"

Kapson steps forward, "Your majesties, Dento and I have been discussing lending our talents towards magic and smithing and it seems our skill sets would be most appreciated."

"Appreciated? I didn't even know you could use metal in that way! How you make things so ornate and yet so durable..." Tome trails off, clearly enraptured by the potential of Zora smithing techniques.

"We've all discussed it and combining our techniques would allow us to equip you all with better gear, or upgrade existing items you find," Dento adds in, "However, Kakariko village does not have the resources for producing high-quality items. Repairing the Lightscale trident alone would be impossible if it was damaged."

"We can send Bugut out for what he can get from the nearby villages, but we'll have to charge you simply to not go bankrupt," Rola adds, "But getting the necessary ores is not going to be easy."

Dento nods, "Yes, we Zora use a special type of silver for all our metal-working. The vast majority of it is found in Lanayru, with some in Eldin. Getting a steady supply from either of those places would be difficult."

You cross your arms, thinking, "But if we're traveling, we can secure the ore and materials you need. We'll need a cart though..."

"Trissa is selling her old cart, " Tome helpfully provides, "On the cheap too, with plenty of free storage containers included."

"Hey~! If you're out there see if you can bring in some high-end fashion as well! Enchanted is always willing to add Rito or Gerudo craftsmanship to the world-famous Claree collection!" The shop owner, Claree adds from behind the counter, practically hopping up and down to be heard over the small crowd gathered in her shop.

Zelda taps her chin, thinking, "Actually, with my... well myself I might be able to convince Rito, Gerudo, Hylian and even Goron masters of their respective crafts to help us. They could provide skills and techniques none of us have even heard of."

Tome's eye goes wide, "I heard Goron's handle and even taste the molten metal when forging to make sure it's perfect! The things I could learn from them..."

Zelda nods, "The Goron's were close allies of my father, and the royal weapons that adorned our guard detail were produced only through combining the skills of master-blacksmiths throughout Hyrule."

"I fear my fellow masters may be hard to find if the Empire hasn't gotten to them already," Dento grimly states, "We may be a tough bunch, but anything could have happened in eight years."

Tome sighs, "I'd have given anything to see your guys work, master Dento. I can scarcely imagine what the royal guard gear looked like..."

"Oh, I have one right here. You can look at it, but I'll need it back," You tell her, drawing your father's knife and passing it to Tome. The one-eyed blacksmith lets out a high-pitched squeal and gives a quick thank you before disappearing into a corner to examine it.

"We are also here to assist you, your Majesty," Fuku suddenly speaks up, getting down on one knee with Okatsu following suit, "Lady Impa has instructed us to make our wares available to you. While we would gladly give them to you for free they're quite expensive to produce in the quantities you will likely need them."

Zelda looks grateful but hesitant, "But I've never used talismans before..."

"Do not worry, I'll be sure to teach you before you depart. Lady Paya, your open invitation still stands as well."

Paya shakes her head, "M-m-m-my apologies, Lady Fuku but my duties..."

"I understand, it's still open if you change your mind though," Fuku says with a nod, though she adopts a sad and disappointed expression.

"What's a talisman?" You ask, drawing everyone's attention.

Okatsu seems to mutter something along the lines of "Stupid outsider" but Fuku only nods.

"Ah, this would be a strange topic to an outsider. Well, talismans are essentially spells written onto parchment. While it takes those trained in the Sheikah arts to use these charms any Sheikah could use them with only a bit of practice. Many of our abilities in Hylian myths are actually a result of them. Though it takes those truly gifted with spiritual abilities to bring out their true power. On average, it usually takes an entire pack of them to cast a spell, but they're rather easy to make, just parchment and blessed ink."

Fuku then looks over to Okatsu, who was still looking at you with suspicion, "Lady Okatsu specializes in the tools of the other side of the Sheikah mythological prowess, providing bombs and poisons for our warriors."

"Lady Impa has instructed me to sell my wares to you, but I can not fathom why she would approve an outsider-" Okatsu begins, only for Zelda to cut her off.

"Okatsu! That is enough. Link has been chosen by the gods to be my Champion, you will provide him with everything necessary to complete his sacred duty and show him the same courtesy you would show me."

Okatsu's eyes go wide, and she immediately prostrates herself on the ground, "My deepest apologies your majesty for my impertinence, I shall offer-"

Zelda shakes her head, "That won't be necessary Okatsu, just offer your wares as normal."

"Of course, your majesty."

Well, Zelda wrapped that up rather quickly. Seems this Okatsu was naturally distrusting of outsiders, and probably for good reason. But her loyalty to Zelda was absolute to an almost fanatical degree, and you knew Zelda was fully aware just how much power she had over the young women.

Mipha claps her hands together, drawing everyone's attention: "Well, perhaps we should get to shopping then?"

Claree claps her hands to her cheeks, "Oh I almost forgot! Your Majesty, Impa put in a special order at most of our shops for items to be given to you on your return. I have it in the back here."

"Oh, that's most excellent then! Link, don't worry about buying anything for me other than charms and ammo. Oh and please leave at least 7000 Rupees for me to purchase various miscellaneous items and clothes. I probably won't use all of it, but it'll cover anything necessary."

You nod, and begin talking to the various store owners about what you can buy. You do consider that now would be a good time to stock up on things like throwing knives and bombs for yourself. You should also consider if you need to replace your hatchet. You suspect you could carry five throwing knives comfortably, you're not fully used to using them after all, and four bombs of any type though other smaller misc items could be easily kept in one of your pouches. If you get all those you'll probably only be able to carry five elixirs in an easily accessible place at a time. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't buy spares. No point in buying knives or swords for Zelda though because it looks like Impa's order covers that. You should also consider if you want to switch your spear out for another weapon. Any other items you'll have to really consider if you'll need them on your journey.

Also, if you're going to the Hebra mountains you're going to need some really well-made winter gear or spicey elixirs. You could also get some stuff for Mipha, though she has her own weapons and armour.

After Zelda returns with Claree from the back, a package tucked under her arm, you hand over your green tunic, hat, and hauberk before spending time talking to Claree as everyone else filters out of the shop to grab supplies and tools for your enhanced gear. Thankfully, it seemed many items were already available so you could just pick them up when you went to their shops. Of course, being left with Claree ended up being an experience.

"You really think red is my best colour? Thought it was green and blue..." You say, looking over the red scarf she had handed to you.

"Did you not see how well you and Princess Mipha complimented each other!? Oh, it was a colour match made in heaven, green and red are perfectly complementary with each other," She says as she flits around you, taking your measurements, "Speaking of which, you three wouldn't mind modeling for my collection would you?"

"Uh, model?"

"Yessiree! Her Majesty always has such wonderful requests, but she always lacked the courage to show them off. Maybe you can talk her into it, and Princess Mipha too! Oh I can not wait to expand my business into Zora clothing, think of the things I can learn from such a fashionable if minimalistic people!" She squees, holding the tape measure up to her chest, "and with Princess Mipha's exotic beauty showing them off the Zora will finally know of the Claree collection! Oh and be sure to buy up any Zora cloth on your journey, I can't make Zora outfits without them!"

"So, why do you need me-"

She grabs you by the shoulders, a very dangerous look in her eyes, "There is no man in Hyrule who could make anything look as good as you do. If I did not know you were Princess Zelda's old playmate I would be convinced the goddess sent you down from heaven.... to be the model for my clothing collection! Why even my dresses would look good on you-" She pauses, taking a step back and looking you up and down, "Actually..."

You sigh, shaking your head, "Just... please don't ask me to wear your Zora items."

Claree goes silent and very, very still. Looking up you see that she had gone very, very red.

"Um..."

"ANYWAYS, let's get you try out this new cloak!" She announces, clapping her hands together before hurrying into the back of the shop.

She emerges quickly with a red cloak and passes it to you, and you immediately marvel at how light it feels. Even throwing it over your shoulders you don't feel particularly warm at all.

As you inspect yourself in the mirror a thought occurs to you, "Doesn't Lasli model for you?"

"Oh I try, but she only seems happy being Enchanted's greeter. Poor dear, we've been friends for so long but she's been so depressed lately. I think it's because her grandmother has forbidden her from going out at night and watching the fireflies," Claree sighs, her her expression falling before she brightens up, practically hopping up and down, "Oh! If you find some jewellery in the shape of a firefly on your journey why don't you give it to her! Package it with some live fireflies and she'll surely cheer up!"

You cross your arms, thinking about it. Fireflies huh...

"Wow, I didn't expect her to get attached to you so quickly!" Rola exclaims as you feed the.... is it a falcon or hawk? You can't tell. Rola had been teaching you how to be a falconer and it had taken up a lot of the day, but it had paid off. Paya and Mipha had been watching nearby, Paya hiding behind her hands whenever you looked over to them but both seemed amazed at the aerial mastery Elrora had. You could already see several uses for her other than hunting, such as collecting fired arrows, delivering messages or quickly dispatching chuchus.

"Is there any magic to see through her eyes, she'd probably be an excellent scout for our coming missions." You ask as you let Elrora fly over to her perch.

"There is but.... well, I'm afraid I don't have any of that item for sale," Rola tells you, looking apologetic.

You nod in understanding, even if you're feeling a bit disappointed, "It's alright, is my order ready to go?"

"Yes, as soon as you get the cart over here I'll start loading her- Ah! Your majesty!"

You turn around, and sure enough Zelda was approaching, looking a bit surprised at what you were doing, "Link? You bought Elrora?"

You nod, "Yeah, figure she could be handy out in the wilds."

"Never took you to be interested in falconering though Link," Zelda tells you as she takes a strip of meat from you to offer to Elrora, "Or to master it so quickly, have you done it before?"

"First time ever doing anything like it."

Rola elbows the younger girl, a wicked grin on her face, "Keeping a man like that hidden away at the manor, I didn't think you girls had it in you. I bet he really knows how to tune your bows~"

Zelda's eyebrow meets her bangs as she stares at the older woman in utter confusion, "Uhm, how do you tune a bow? Rola you aren't making any sense."

Rola blinks, then pinches the bridge of her nose and sighs, muttering "Why did I expect her to even..."

"Uhm.... what?" Zelda asks, still very confused.

"Wow! You really look like a hero now!" Tome says, practically bouncing around you as you put on the last bit of armour.

"This stuff is amazing, I never expected it to be so light, and it doesn't even make a sound!" You exclaim as you do some stretches to see if it properly fit.

"My special handiwork, and with master Dento's help we got it done in no time flat!"

"You've really got an eye for-" You clap a hand over your mouth, realizing what you were saying, "OH, sorry I didn't mean-"

Tome waves a hand, a grin on her face, "Hey it's alright it was an accident years ago, I can laugh about it. Why'd you think I named my forge The Plucky Hinox? Truth be told, I'd have let you say whatever you want to me if it meant getting a look at your dagger."

You feel a smirk forming at Tome's good humour as you ask, "It give you any ideas?"

"Oh more than you know, come back with some nice presents and I'll show you things you couldn't imagine in your wildest dreams."

You nod, "I'll look forward too it, and try to get back here soon."

"You're both incredibly lucky I know you both don't know how that sounds," Dento calls from farther into the building, causing Tome to look at you concerned,

"What does he mean by that master Link?"

You honestly have no idea...

"Who was that?" You ask the old shopkeeper Trissa as an elderly man leaves her shop.

"Oh it's just my mister, he gets worried about me when I'm here alone in my shop," Trissa says, watching her husband leave, "Did you get Abby all hitched up?"

"Yeah, she's ready to go, going to see how Epona likes her new saddle in a bit," You tell her, closing the compartment you were cleaning out. Paya and Mipha were helping load the cart up, thankfully you can keep most of the things you've bought in the cart, just have to make sure the tarp is covering it.

"Such lovely girls..." The old woman sighs to herself and you smile.

"Yeah, Epona and Abby have been great horses-"

"I'm not talking about them," Trissa says as she turns to look at you, a sad expression on her face.

"I've known Paya since she was a babe, my friend Nanna taught Purah and Tetra, and helped deliver Paya. I was there with her when Impa arrived with young Zelda, the poor girl covered in week-old blood and mind shattered by the unspeakable horrors she had witnessed. I saw Impa, barely sixteen winters under her belt who was forced to be a hardened warrior before she could even read shaken to the very core, unable to recite what had happened."

She looks up to the sky, lost in painful memories, "I remember trying to get Zelda to eat something, only managing when I pretended to be one of the castle maids. I could barely speak, choking up whenever Zelda would turn to a boy who wasn't there, telling this "Link" how her mother said she had okayed giving them play-swords, and that they should explore the gardens again. Getting all offended as this non-existent boy insinuated she'd get him to taste frogs again," She closes her eyes, letting out a breath, "I remember leaving and coming back just in time to pull her off a bleeding, screaming Paya. Zelda had just suddenly leaped at her, chopsticks in hand. Nanna and I had to pry them away from Zelda as she tried to harm herself before suddenly becoming quiet and unresponsive."

"Why are you telling me this?" You ask slowly, vaguely aware you were gripping the side of the wagon hard enough that you weren't sure what would give first, your hand or the wood.

"Because you're more important to those girls than you realize, and I want to see them have the happy life they deserve. Paya, Zelda and Mipha." Trissa tells you, giving you a serious look.

You don't meet her eyes, and she sighs, "Ah, so you realized already she's the same as those two, if better at hiding it. Hmm, I guess Captain Undyne's suspicions about you were correct."

"She was here?"

"And Prince Sidon as well. It is expected though, you are the chosen hero. It is in your nature to want to help..."

You don't respond.

The old woman looks up at you sympathetically, "We have...not been the best guardians for them. Perhaps we were just too scared to admit that just because they grew up didn't mean they never stopped being those poor hurting girls. But you have courage we don't, and I can see in your eyes you have the kindness and patience the chosen hero is known for. You do not have to push aside-"

"Hey, Link, where do these arrows go?" Mipha asks, approaching the two of you. Paya was behind, blushing deeply when she noticed you looking at her.

"Just over there," You tell them before looking back to Trissa, who only smiles and nods.

"Be sure to visit my store whenever you need produce or hear an old woman ramble," She tells you, before slowly making her way back into the shop and leaving you with a lot to think about.

"Her Majesty has instructed me to treat you with the same respect she has, I am yours to command however you please," Okatsu says as you browse her selection.

"I-I'm just here as a customer," You say quickly, placing the items on the counter, "You don't have to treat me any different than anyone else in the village."

"Hrmph, so he does have some honour," She mutters, which leaves you confused. Did she think you'd have ordered her to hand over all her items for free?

"I'm not ever going to ask anyone to give me their stock for free, I know how much work making this stuff takes."

She stares at you for a second, looking completely dumbfounded before sighing in complete relief, "Ah, the Princess is safe then."

"Of course she is, " You say, tone becoming completely serious, "I'd rather die than let Zelda or anyone here come to harm."

"Good, you understand your duty. But can you live up to your title? You still have not proved yourself, Lady Impa underwent many trials to become her Majesties guardian and you have not. It is she who will decide if you are truly worthy."

You nod, "Then I will undergo any trial she sets out for me, take on any challenge. If it will make me strong enough to protect them I won't hesitate for a second."

You think you imagine it, but you see for a brief moment Okatsu actually smile at you, "Well, we shall see..."

Paper talismans swarmed together in a great vortex, an intense light building before there was a flash of smoke and Fuku reappeared.

"Wow, for what you claim is simple magic it sure is impressive looking," You tell the Sheikah girl, and she gives a polite laugh.

"Thank you, I'd forgotten that those outside the village would not be used to magic as we Sheikah are," She tells you, before gesturing to multiple packages stacked up at the door, "Your order is ready, by the way. I teleported them here during the demonstration."

"Thank you," You tell Fuku as you start picking up the packages to pack onto the cart. A thought strikes you though, one that you immediately voiced, "Hey, you said Paya still had an open invitation for training, what did you mean by that?"

Fuku sighs, "Lady Paya has great spiritual potential and would likely quickly master the charms. Sadly though, she is so busy with the various chores and duties she devotes herself too that she never seems to ever have time to consider learning a new art."

You frown, thinking to what was said earlier. Just how many things does Paya force herself to do in a day?
++++
Finishing up your last bit of shopping you all find you have a few hours of daylight left, and start to consider how to spend them. Sadly though the one who'd actually have an idea of what goes on in the village was currently missing, as Paya couldn't even manage to get a word out about where you should all hang out, and you're starting to get the strong impression she rarely if ever leaves the manor except to go to one of the guardian statues to pray.

So Paya and Mipha go one direction while you go the other, making sure to meet up back at Enchanted in thirty minutes. It does give you time to clear your head, which you got to admit you enjoy. You didn't meet many Sheikah on the path you took through the village, so you could listen to the trees moving in the wind, birds chirping, insects buzzing out their chorus and squirrels scuttling around the houses and trees. It reminded you of the woods, which was comforting after today, and you let your mind become clear of thoughts.

Interrupted when you heard the sound of someone plucking away at a harp towards one of the larger trees in the village. You run over, spotting a pure white mare grazing at its base. It was beautiful and wearing very similar gear to the one you bought from Epona. Which would mean its owner was probably-

You look up, and sure enough, you catch a young woman sitting in a tree branch, plucking away at a harp. Two young women, as Impa was standing on another branch. Looks like they had been talking.

What immediately strikes you though was the new outfit Zelda was wearing. It was some sort of form-fitting black and blue affair, light armour worn over it but it clearly looked that whoever designed it had freedom of movement in mind. She was wearing a white cloak and long scarf, hair was done up in a ponytail. Sheikah emblems were all over it, and you could see the glint of many knives. Her harp was also new, specially crafted rather than the cheap affair the two of you had bought earlier. She also had a bird-like mask resting on her forehead that seemed very familiar...

"Hey, Zelda!" You call, waving an arm so the Sheikah girl could see you. Zelda looks around, confused until she see's you and immediately her expression brightens.

"Link! Hey! I was about to go looking for you!" She yells before jumping down from the tree, "Where are the others?"

"They should be in the center to town right now, that's a really cool new outfit by the way," You tell her, and she smiles.

"Hee, thanks. It's a specially designed Sheikah stealth outfit for me. Protective and makes me practically invisible."

You cock an eyebrow, "Uh, those eye symbols actually make you super obvious..."

"Hehe, watch!" She says, before clasping her hands together to make an odd symbol similar to what you saw Fuku use whenever she teleported. It took a few seconds, but symbols vanished and the whole outfit began to look drab and unassuming.

"Whoa..."

"Illusion magic built into the outfit," Zelda informs you, "It's powerful enough that unless the clothes get majorly damaged it won't dispell, and it'll reapply itself when the outfit is repaired."

"That is super handy to have, it must have taken a lot of work."

"Months," Zelda informs you, "all the stuff I have now are things Impa specially commissioned for me."

"And that mask... wait it's a modified Hawkeye mask!" You almost shout, pointing at it, "They sell like one a year at festivals for absolutely incredible prices. I've always wanted one but never could afford it."

Zelda nods, bringing the mask down over her eyes, "Yeah it's amazing, this magnification is incredible! No wonder all the top archers and marksman at the castle had their own unique version as part of their uniform. But that's not all it can do!" She then takes out a whistle and blows a tune through it:

Wait, isn't that Elrora's whistle? Wait, yes, yes it is as Elrora swooped down and landed on Zelda's outstretched arm. Zelda then whispers something, and the eyes of the mask start to glow.

"I can see through Elrora's eyes!" Zelda crows, hopping up and down and making Elrora give an annoyed squawk, "She's the perfect scout now!"

You nod, shocked. That mask alone had made Elrora indispensable. Not only that but since the masks weren't very rare just expensive Zelda could easily hide her eyes and claim to be a hunter. Well-equipped hunters and monster-slayers would probably have them after all.

"Actually... there's something else I want to show you..." Zelda meekly mutters as she lifts up the mask, peeking through her bangs, "Here just let me get it from Malanya."

"Malanya?"

"My new mare, she's named after the horse fairy god," Zelda informs you as she walks over and starts rooting around in her saddlebags. She carefully pulls a bundle of blue cloth out, and holds it out for you to take, "Tadah," She says, looking very nervous.

You take the blue cloth, unraveling it to reveal... a blue tunic? Actually... it seemed very nostalgic...

Taking your silence the wrong way Zelda quickly explains, "It- It's a replica of the tunics worn by the Royal Guard! The ones who're the immediate guard detail of the royal family. M-most people never saw them and s-since you're supposed to be my champion...."

"It's great," You tell her, smiling, "Thank you Zelda, I really appreciate it."

Zelda sighs in relief, but immediately goes ramrod straight as a voice cut in like a knife, "You have no right to wear that tunic."

Impa leaps down from the tree, her ever serious expression betraying no emotion, "Only those who have completed the trial of the Royal Guard are permitted to wear that."

Zelda turns to her guardian, panic in her voice, "H-hey, isn't it alright? I mean I'm the Princess and he's supposed to be the hero so-"

"What's the trial?" You ask, your expression mirroring Impa's. You think you understand what Impa was doing.

"Slaying one of the great evil beasts who plague Hyrule with only your weapons and armour, no help or elixirs. A Stalnox was the most common. Only then would you be considered worthy to become a true knight protector of the royal family."

"I understand," You say, handing the tunic to Impa, who nods.

"Good. I will be waiting by the edge of the village if you feel you are ready for this test. Come alone, and bring only your weapons and armour," Impa tells you, before leaping out of sight.

"L-Link this is... I can talk to her-" Zelda begins to stammer out, but you shake your head.

"If I'm going to be this champion of Hyrule, I need to be able to live up to the standards expected of me when I am inevitably asked to prove myself in the future. I'll be prepared though, don't worry."

Zekda sighs, rubbing her temples, "I should have expected this after the Big Octo. Just be careful Link, I know you'll succeed but please try to avoid getting hurt. Stalnox's are very dangerous even with the eye weakness."

"I will be, I've got the perfect weapon riiiiiiiiiiiight here for it," You say with a grin as you grab your newest acquisition, "A weapon like this will smash its old bones to pieces."

Zelda only sighs again.

[X] School! (Meet some of Zelda's class!)

Zelda leads you towards the "Schoolhouse" which to your surprise was right next to the dining area you had met up with the Zora after the Sheikah elders revealed both yours and Zelda's destinies. The schoolhouse, according to Zelda and confirmed by Paya, was simply where many of the villages historical documents, scrolls, spare books and the like had been stored, to the point there were even copies of old texts belonging to the royal family. It was actually a fairly large building carefully designed to preserve texts. Zelda's class was held in what was essentially the entrance hall, modified into a classroom by Zelda.

Of course, none of her class would actually be there, since Zelda had disappeared for months. But as Zelda reassured you many of her students liked to play around there, as there was a small cooking station at that dining area and the produce store was right there so one of the adults would occasionally make snacks for the children before Zelda took over the area, which was how she had learned to cook. You don't spot any of Zelda's class though, and the dejected Princess leads you into the building and her classroom. It was a fairly simple affair, a hall with some shelves shoved against the walls, a desk with a chalkboard hung up behind it and a sunken hearth in the center. It did seem to lack desks, instead, it looked like the children sat on cushions with a small wooden table serving as their desks. The chalkboard interestingly enough seemed to have not been cleaned since she had left.

"Hapy birfday techer!" "Happy birthday Zelda!" "Happy birthday!" and similar were written on it, all with varying levels of penmanship and literacy. Zelda didn't seem to be expecting it, as she started to look increasingly despondent as her eyes roamed over the chalkboard.

"You're quite loved by your students," Mipha observes, trying to cheer Zelda up. Zelda though can only let out a long sigh and nod, walking over to her desk. Mipha opens her fanged mouth to say something before closing it, reptilian eyes looking away. "I... I'm sorry, I never realized how hard it must have been to leave..."

"W-we had been discussing it for awhile," Paya's quiet voice interjects, drawing everyone's attention to the girl who immediately shrinks into herself under your stares, "Well... w-we had everything set up s-so it was just a matter of... uhm..."

"I... had wanted to leave the village to get some real practical experience, something I could then teach," Zelda speaks up, turning back to the three of you, "But I just... couldn't bring myself to leave. I knew there were dangers I wasn't prepared for. Then right before my eighteenth birthday, I had a... argument and just... had to leave. Paya decided to stay behind so I just took the horse and supplies and rode off that night..."

Paya seems to withdraw more into herself, a guilt-ridden expression on her face that you make a mental note to ask her about it, however, Zelda decides that moment to clap her hands together, "Let's stop discussing these sad things! We're here in my classroom, aren't you two curious about it?" She asks both you and Mipha, catching the two of you off guard.

"Well..." You begin, trying to think of something on the fly, "What were you teaching your students?"

"Oh!" Zelda exclaims, brightening up, "I was getting them to learn about eating properly by reading to them and getting my class to name examples of healthy things to eat!" She then squats down and starts rifling behind her desk for something, muttering "Where is it, where is it...Ah!"

She then emerges, and you bring your hand to your chin to stop yourself from letting your jaw drop. Zelda was wearing large round glasses of obviously low quality, the kind you remember from books you had borrowed would stereotypically belong to those who spent far too much time rifling through books. In her hands was grasped a thick tome, one you were certain could be used as a bludgeoning weapon.

"Tah-dah! Youko's guide to nutrition! Covering everything from the importance of vitamins for your bodies metabolic processes to how salts allow your cells to absorb-"

"I... didn't know you needed glasses, Zelda," You cut her off before she gets started, causing her to pout and set the book down.

"Well I don't need them, they stop my eyes from getting tired when I stare too long at my slate or books. Paya has a pair as well."

Mipha furrows her brow, before her eyes light up in realizations, "Wait... Zelda, when you would come to me in the morning and say you didn't sleep you were just-"

"HAHA anyways it's late, we should be heading home for dinner," The Princess announces, clapping her hands together as she failed utterly in hiding her intention to change the subject. She quickly marched past all of you to the door, throwing it open after she put on her shoes only for something small to immediately tackle and cling to her.

"Oof! Wha- Cottla?!"

A small Sheikah girl with pure white hair, probably no older than six, looks up to Zelda with a wide bright smile, "Teacher! You're back! You're back!"

Zelda relaxes, and looks down at the girl with a smile, "Yes I'm back, now what are you doing out here Cottla? You should be heading home for dinner."

"Koko is making dinner for Cottla! Koko coming over here because Cottla playing hide and seek!" The girl enthusiastically tells Zelda.

"Who're you playing hide and seek with Cottla?" You ask, trying to appear friendly to the little kid, you were still wearing your armour since you didn't have the opportunity to take it off yet. Mipha herself was hanging back, seemingly torn between wanting to rush forward and dote on the girl and the suspicion being a giant fish monster might not go over well.

The girl turns to you, her smile wide as she tells you "Mommy! I'm going to find her!"

It takes a great deal of willpower to not change your expression as you recall something the moment she said that. Zelda had said Cottla and Koko's mother had passed away. You glance around at your friends, and sure enough you notice Zelda had brought Cottla slightly closer to her while Paya had looked away, hand brought up to her mouth.

Mipha seems confused for a moment until she catches on, and she brings her hands up to cover her mouth as her eyes begin to look watery. You open your mouth to say something but Zelda only shakes her head, mouthing "Don't," to you before looking back down to Cottla, "Well, why don't you go and wait for Koko, we'll sit with you in just a moment."

Cottla pulls away from Zelda, jumping for joy, "YAY! Teacher's joining Cottla and Koko for dinner! YAY!" She then runs off, towards the dining area.

Zelda practically collapses against the doorframe of the school, hands pressing against her eyes as she takes a deep breath.

"Zelda, what..." You begin, unsure of how to broach the topic.

"Dorian... their father... He asked the villagers to not... to not tell Koko and Cottla what happened to their mother, not until they're older," Zelda manages to get out, visibly collecting herself.

"How did she..." Mipha asks, glancing towards the dining area where Cottla had seated herself.

"She was one of the traders with the nearby villages. One day she... she never came back. Dorian went out and...." Zelda chokes, before taking a breath, "He buried her in the middle of the night, he... he didn't want his daughters to see what had become of their mother, or realize what he had done to her killers."

She didn't describe what state Dorian's wife had been in, but from her tone you could guess what Dorian had returned with didn't resemble a human anymore. You can feel yourself grinding your teeth, your hand clenching. It was Mipha who asked the question you wanted to know, her tone dripping with barely contained fury, "Who?"

Zelda looks both you and Mipha in the eyes, the same anger the two of you felt reflected in her own, "Who else? The Yiga clan."

In that moment you sincerely regret letting Ganondorf kill that Yiga assassin before you got a crack at him. Mipha it seems is having similar thoughts, her fangs visible as she silently swears bloody vengeance on that cursed clan.

Paya though didn't look angry, she had turned away from the three of you so you could only see her shaking shoulders, but from the sniffling and her rubbing her eyes you could tell something was wrong.

"Paya?"

"Cottla's mother was one of the few people to visit the manor. She taught Paya how to cook and about our people's beliefs and rituals," Zelda informs you, her tone quiet and filled with concern for the girl.

Paya turns around and walks over, still rubbing her eyes which were starting to become as red as her irises, "I-I am fine. We-we should be there for Cottla and Koko."

Not satisfied with that at all you put a reassuring hand on Paya's shoulder who practically jumps out of her skin, "Hey, if you want to talk about it we're here you, alright?" You tell her, and Mipha and Zelda nod.

Paya's eyes, however, are locked on your hand, her expression alternating between gratitude and utter mortification.

"Anyways, we shouldn't let her stay out there alone," Zelda tells you all to unified agreement, and you all make your way over to the dining area. Cottla takes a moment to notice you all, kicking her legs and humming a song. But when she does she practically jumps out of her seat, eyes wide and pointing a finger towards Mipha.

"YOUR NAKED!" She shrieks, "AND A FISH! A NAKED PERSON FISH!!"

Mipha raises her hands in a placating gesture, trying to smile without showing any teeth, "That's because I'm a Zora, it's okay for us."

"Oh... OKAY!" Cottla says, before sitting back down.

Mipha giggles a bit, before taking the seat opposite Cottla. Zelda and Paya sit on either side of the girl while you sit beside Mipha.

Cottla then immediately launches into an excited telling how she ran around the village today and all the things she saw, but quickly cutting off her story to leap out her seat to point and wave excitedly at someone coming down the road, "KOKO! KOKO!"

You follow the girl's finger to spot the girl's approaching sibling. Koko was a girl barely a couple years older than Cottla, you'd almost mistake them for twins at first glance. She was carrying a large sack, which was slightly too heavy for the girl. You're immediately out of your seat, rushing over to help the girl. Koko freezes when she see's you, even looking a bit scared until she spots Zelda running up behind you.

"T-teacher?!" The small girl stammers out in surprise.

"Koko, it's alright. Link's a close friend of mine, he just wants to help you," Zelda reassures the child, who reluctantly hands her bag over to you. Testing the weight it seems to be filled with vegetables and other ingredients.

As the three of you head back to the dining area you see the others had gotten up but had paused once you and Zelda had reassured the girl, not wishing to crowd her. Walking next to the girl you do notice that her hands had bandages and burns on her hands suggesting an expected clumsiness with cooking. Poor girl seemed determined to cook though. She did look scared when she noticed Mipha, but the Zora Princess too saw her burnt hands and took her aside to heal them while you emptied out the ingredients onto the table and judging by Koko's enthusiastic thank you's this had changed the girl's opinion of the fish girl around completely.

"So Koko!" You say, clapping your hands together, "What did you plan to make with all these vegetables?"

"Koko is going to vegetable cream soup for Cottla!" The girl happily explains.

Cottla's eyes go wide, and she bounces in her seat, "Yay! Cottla love Veggy cream soup!"

You, however, feel a frown tugging at your lips as you look at the ingredients splayed out on the table. Koko seems confused at your reaction until she closely looks at them as well. When she realizes what was missing she gasps, bringing her tiny hands to her mouth, "Koko forgot the milk!"

For a second you think she's going to break down crying, but instead, she simply hangs her head, "But Koko promised Cottla. Koko is a bad daughter who can't do anything right. Koko will never be like mother..."

"T-that's not true!" A tiny voice tries to interject, and everyone turns to Paya, "W-we have some milk at the manor!"

You nod, and then bend down to get eye level with the girl, "And I'll help you make it, and do all the boring stuff, okay?"

Koko and Cottla are completely wide eyed at your suggestion, seemingly in complete shock that they'd be invited to the manor.

"I'll send a message to their father with Elrora so he won't worry. Oh, this is going to be so much fun!" Zelda then practically skips her way back to the school to get some paper as you all start packing up the ingredients.

++++
Koko was a very attentive student as you both began cooking. Thankfully Vegetable cream soup was a fairly simple dish, so you spent most of it trying to teach Koko how to properly use knives and the stove and stay safe while cooking. You also took the time to show her how to make changes to recipes, to on the fly modify them to suit the tastes of those dining. Koko seemed in awe, but you did your best to let her get involved. You were amazed at how often she cooked, as according to her Dorian often worked late in his guard duties leaving her to take care of Cottla. This bothered you greatly, as while you yourself had to learn to care for yourself at an early age there was no reason Koko and Cottla should be subjected to that. You found it hard to blame Dorian, as with only five warriors in the village, most of the villagers advancing age and the Yiga clan's murder of his wife he was probably pulling double duty to protect his children but you were going to talk to Zelda about getting someone to watch over the two girls. Surely some of the Zora would be up for it? Admittedly, you also find the idea of Muzu watching over them a hilarious image to consider but he definitely wouldn't be your first pick.

You finish up dinner quickly, the vegetable cream soup filling the manor with a delicious scent that made your mouth water but before you get a chance to serve it you both hear a commotion. Setting the Vegetable cream soup off to the side so you don't find burnt swift carrot chunks stuck to the bottom you and Koko both run out into the halls to see what's the matter.

It isn't long until you find out, as in the entrance way was a Hylian woman practically collapsed against the wall, with Mipha, Paya and Zelda leaning over her with clear concern written over their every feature. The Hylian woman was wearing a light metal cuirass, had short brown hair and looked like she hadn't eaten for days.

"Need... to tell..." She manages to get out, her voice as weak as she looked.

"Brokka, what's wrong?! Come on, let's get her inside!" Zelda exclaims, and moves to lift the woman up.

Brokka looks up groggily, seemingly not believing who was helping her to her feet, "Wha... Princess! You're here..?"

"Yes I'm here, just rest for now..."

Brokka shakes her head, "No Princess! You'll understand, I need to tell you!"

"Save your strength-" Mipha begins but Brokka cuts her off with a shout.

"They managed it, they actually managed to complete them!"

She grabs Zelda's arm, bringing the Princess in close, "They've rebuilt the spirit tracks!"

The what now?

[X] Get Brokka some food and water; she looks ready to collapse.
[X] Ask Mipha to heal her if possible.
[X] Ask "What are the spirit tracks and who rebuilt them?"
[X] Ask "What is so important about them? What do they do?"

You all quickly carry Brokka into the dining room, Mipha holding a glowing hand over her to repair all the damage exhaustion had wrecked on Brokka's body. You, on the other hand, run over to the Kitchen to grab the soup and drinks, with water as a top priority. When you return and set out food for everyone you notice they had stripped Brokka's armour off and set her at the table. Brokka practically lunges for the water you set down in front of her to down it in seconds before slurping down the soup.

Koko and Cottla looked scared, sitting close to each other and staring at Brokka demolishing her bowl of soup while not touching theirs. Koko was the one who managed to speak up first, practically whispering, "Is... Is Miss Brokka gonna be okay?"

"HA, take more than a couple days without food or water to get me down!" Brokka shouts, causing all of you to jump as she practically slams her bowl of soup down, "I don't know if it was just the hunger or that magic you did miss Zora but that was the most filling meal I ever had!"

"Oh no, you can thank Link for the food. My magic simply healed your body," Mipha tells Brokka, giving a small bow, "My name is Mipha by the way."

"Brokka it's... wait, Mipha? Huh, you have the same name as the Zora Princess-" Brokka stops, bringing a hand to her mouth, "Oh, apologies, I understand that must be a difficult subject."

"Oh no, not at all!" Mipha says, shaking her head, "Actually I-"

"Sister! Are you here- Ah good!" A jolly voice interrupts Mipha, followed by Prince Sidon's massive head poking through the entrance way, "I must apologize for missing eating dinner with you again, I do say Lady Impa accepts no slacking even from royalty! What a dedicated womanOh, am I interrupting something?"

Everyone was staring at Sidon with either shock or mild bemusement. Then they all turn towards the two children, specifically Cottla who promptly jumps up and yells "YOU'RE THE BIG FISH GIVING PIGGYBACK RIDES!"

"Brother, have you been disappearing to go play with the children?" Mipha asks, crossing her arms.

"My apologies sister, they seemed quite bored and I could not stand by and watch," Sidon explains, seemingly quite resolute, "Though I must say, I did not realize that this was the dining room. Forgive my rudeness everyone, but I'm afraid I will not be able to fit here!"

"Don't worry, we don't think you're being rude your majesty. Here, have a bowl of soup. Link prepared it with the help of Koko," Zelda says, pouring a bowl for Sidon.

"I thank you both, and accept it most graciously. I will be in the courtyard if you need me, have a good evening everyone," And with that Sidon vanishes.

Brokka then slowly turns to Mipha, jaw hanging opening, "You're.... Princess Mipha."

Mipha nods with a polite smile.

Zelda's expression, however, turned serious, "A lot has happened Brokka, but I'm afraid it'll have to wait. We need to know more about the spirit tracks. Why now, of all..."

"Hold on, before we begin what are Spirit tracks? Something left by a Poe?" You ask.

Zelda adjusts her glasses which she had forgotten to take off, a strange glint in her eyes, "Imagine a minecart track, yet the tracks cover the entirety of Hyrule. The carts that ride them are the size of boats and entirely self-propelled. These "trains" use Sheikah hover technology to achieve great speeds along these rails, carrying dozens of people and many tons of cargo across Hyrule at speeds greater than any horse can manage. The most advanced of them are armed with Guardian defense systems; missiles, lasers, energy-projectors, railguns, force-fields you name it. Of course, these Spirit Trains are only able to use so much power, so they're unlikely to be armed with all those weapons."

"And the Empire has got them up and running with the help of that cursed Yiga tribe," Brokka spat, before she sighs, "Well, sorta. It seems our Yiga cousins aren't the greatest of engineers. What trains I did see are shoddy things, built on top of floating platforms. Which ones are armed have small cannon turrets, like the kind you see on ships. It will still ruin your day, but they aren't surviving a well-aimed bomb arrow."

You then all look over to Cottla and Koko, who were listening intently. Paya is on it though, taking the girls bowls and leading them out of the room. Now without the two girls listening in you all return to the discussion, the grim reality of what this meant settling in. Still, one question lingered on.

"How were they able to set it up so quickly? Such technology is beyond the empire to reproduce, even if they found the originals," You ask.

Zelda, of course, has the answer, "Our Sheikah ancestors were masters of item storage, turning things into light and summoning it on demand. No doubt they simply reactivated the master-control, causing the raillines to simply rematerialize. Hmmm... that would mean that the rail lines are thousands of years out of date. They could miss entire cities, and are probably limited to being within Hyrule's borders."

Brokka shakes her head, "Not for long, I saw it while hunting for gems. Guardian Constructors, straight out of Doctor Purah's stories. They were eating enough ore and rupees to arm an army though."

"This is bad," Mipha remarks, her expression grave, "Think of all the men and material they could be moving around with these spirit tracks, any dissent would have the entire army bearing down on them within days."

"And they've already been clearing paths through the wilderness..." You mutter, recalling the slave trail you found.

"Is it that bad though?" Zelda ponders aloud, stroking her chin, "Brokka, did you scout out who's using the spirit tracks?"

Brokka raises an eyebrow, scratching the side of her head while she tried to remember, "Uh yeah but was in a rush to get back. They were loading and unloading people and carts. Civilians, farmers, merchants... Didn't actually see anything more than glorified guards other than the military trains near the Guardian Constructors."

Zelda steeples her hands in front of her, glasses glinting with a dangerous light as she let out a chuckle, "Heh, don't you all see? We can journey all throughout Hyrule in days now, find all the other maidens before the Empire even realizes what's going on. The old stations will likely be near Sheikah ruins as well if we need to gather artifacts, and even the Yiga can't inspect every train if the Empire wants to actually utilize the Spirit Tracks in an economical fashion."

"I suppose we could keep pretending to be a traveling band of musicians who treasure hunt on the side. It's not like that's even an uncommon thing nowadays, considering how often local songs point to rare treasure," You look over to Mipha, "You know how to play anything?"

Mipha blinks, "Uhm, the harp? It has been ages though since I've last seen one that hasn't been in Zelda's hands. I can sing though, at least according to the other Zora. I'm not sure how I would sound to Hylians."

"Whoa what? Why are you looking for maidens?!" Brokka exclaims, giving you a very threatening look.

Zelda quickly explains what had happened in the last few days, and by the end of it Brokka was bowing her head to you, "Forgive me, I'd have never suspected you were the hero of legend. Or that you were on a quest to find a new group of seven sages."

"Not to sound arrogant or anything but who did you assume I was?" You ask her, crossing your arms in front of yourself.

"Oh, just some nobleman's son who figured out who Lady Zelda was and swore to become her loyal knight or something and was wrapping her up in some insane chivalric quest while saving maidens and righting wrongs. Which actually I guess is technically accurate..."

When she puts it like that...

"Ahem, well I suppose I should find Lady Impa and inform her as well," Brokka says hastily, climbing to her feet, "Thank you for the meal and healing me, I'm glad I could be of some small help in your quest."

You all thank her for the information, walking her out of the manor before returning to the dining room. Your soups were now cold, and you all ended up eating in silence as you pondered how these spirit tracks changed your journey. You couldn't do anything about the Empire's growing power, but with it came blind spots you could exploit as long as you kept your heads down. Not very heroic, but you still recognized all the good you could do and then vanish before getting caught as Zelda had said.

The silence was broken however as Cottla and Koko raced back into the room, practically bouncing up and down as they shouted "Tell us about the Spirit tracks teacher! Tell us tell us tell us!"

"I-I am sorry Lady Zelda! I c-couldn't watch them!" Paya stammers out as she enters the room as well, bowing low in apology to Zelda.

Zelda laughs, "It's alright Paya! Alright well, what do you want to know?"

The questions came quickly, mostly minor things from children who didn't fully understand the topic but wanted to learn. When they paused to take a breath you chuckled and said "Wow Zelda, your classes must be really hectic if everyone wants to learn as badly as these two do!"

"Eeeeh? Teacher's classes?" Koko asks, looking very confused.

You blink, "Uhm, your classes at the schoolhouse?"

Koko looks over to her sister, before realization dawns on both their faces, "Ooooooooooooooooooooh! Teacher's story time!"

"Story time?" You and Mipha both look over to Zelda, who had turned away from both of you and was trying to drink her tea with shaking hands. Paya looked rather worried, glancing between Zelda and you.

"Yeah! Teacher reads to us! Sometimes the books are really boring, but other times it's really fun! She does voices and acts!" Koko merrily explains as Zelda's shaking was increasing to rather uncomfortable looking levels.

"But... she teaches you..."

"Yeah! We write from the books sometimes! Then we all go out and play!" Cottla adds, completely unaware of what damage her words were doing, "Teacher doesn't bring her dolls anymore after the grownups came by, but she still plays other games!"

"Dolls..." You say out loud, looking over to Zelda who had finally set her tea down and stood up.

"HAHA LOOK AT THE TIME!" Was the high-pitched announcement from Zelda, "Your father's probably expecting you home! I'll walk you back!"

"Aaaw, teacher..."

As Zelda quickly shoo's the girls out of the room while a nervous Paya follows her out, along with a really confused Mipha who muttered something about checking on her brother you were left alone, trying to wrap your head around this revelation on what kind of teacher Zelda was. Still, this also presented an opportunity. If you thought you were ready you could meet with Impa and take on that Stalnox, disappearing and returning before the girls have a chance to worry about you. Or you could turn in for the night, though Impa didn't seem the type to like waiting. Or was there something else you wanted to do tonight?

What do you do?
