You are Giratina, and having grown bored with observing your base universe, you decide to direct your gaze elsewhere. What would become of this is a mystery...

//Starting up a new quest just to kickstart creative juices again after unintentionally taking a few months of hiatus. I plan to continue a couple other stalled quests of mine in the near future.
//As far as rules and mechanics go this will be relatively simple and straightforward, there's really nothing major worth mentioning here as this is more of a casual thing, and to be honest an informational post probably will not be necessary to start with (though I will reserve a space just in case we need one later.) Only real rule is to have fun.
--------------------------------

You are Giratina.

At the dawn of creation, the Original One, Arceus -- otherwise known as Father -- created both you and your two siblings, Dialga and Palkia. Dialga embodied the concept of Time, while Palkia is the master of Space and Dimensions. Together, your brothers became the source of the space-time continuum and the foundation of the universe as a whole.

Your role, meanwhile, was to act as their antithesis. For the universe to exist, a negative counterpart had to be created to balance and stabilize it. This shadow realm became your domain, and it is a place where the logic behind time and space is warped and twisted beyond comprehension. Appropriately, your domain has since come to be known as the Distortion World.

You also tend to be a bit more aggressive than your siblings, which is part of the reason your father urges you to remain confined to your realm. Honestly, you don't mind your quote unquote "banishment" due to it being the place you feel most at home anyway. Plus, if you really wanted to, you could come and go as you please, though your body must adjust to the different laws of physics outside of your realm...

Despite this ability, you tend not to interfere with the normal plane of existence anyway, being content to merely observe the everyday interactions of the material realm. Every reflective surface in the normal world acts as a window that you can peek through, and it is through these windows that you can exit your realm, provided they are big enough to accommodate you.

Due to the nature of your domain, if anything happens to upset the balance of the normal realm, it will be reflected as damage in yours, and that tends to piss you off immensely. For instance, when that insect Cyrus decided to capture your brothers, you promptly dragged him in here to make his life a living hell.

Unfortunately that plan backfired a bit. While you had hoped that the Distortion World would drive him mad, either from the illogical physics or the isolation, it instead ended up being exactly like the world he intended to create by controlling your brothers. Therefore, he has since taken up residence here... While you could just kill him, he honestly wouldn't be worth the time and effort, and evicting him is out of the question after what he attempted, so you've decided to just leave him to his own devices, hoping that perhaps one day he'll die of an accident, considering that you doubt he would age in the odd timeflow of your realm. At the end of it all, it honestly feels odd to no longer be the Distortion World's sole inhabitant, despite the fact that neither of you have really interacted beyond that first hour...

Anyway, after the incident with Cyrus had passed, you settled back into your role as an observer. However, after seeing similar patterns in what humans and pokemon do throughout the ages, this activity has honestly begun to become a bit stale. It's no wonder that you soon found yourself yearning to see something new: Something different…

Therefore, you initially began to cast your gaze on parallel worlds within Arceus's influence, as they all shared an innate connection with the Distortion World. While many of the alternate outcomes of those timelines were indeed interesting, it wasn't long until they, too, began to become predictable...

Therefore, perhaps you would need to direct your gaze elsewhere to find something interesting. You are well aware that there are universes which exist beyond your father's influence: Ones that he did not have a role in creating. You and Palkia both have the ability to enter them, though in the past father had cautioned you against doing so. On the other hand, considering you know for a fact that Palkia does it on occasion and gets away with it, then perhaps there will be no objections to you doing the same.

Therefore, drawing on your powers, you connect your world of antimatter to its equivalent in another universe, expanding your territory in the process. Once the expansion is complete and the Distortion World stabilizes into a new equilibrium, you gaze into the nearest reflective surface and catch your first glimpse of the new world you've found…

[] You see the inside of a hospital room through a reflection on a window. A raven-haired, human girl rises from the bed with a sharp breath.
[] From the perspective of a stream, you see a girl with amber eyes and black hair washing her face. Upon her head is a peculiar looking bow that seems to occasionally twitch.
[] You see a young girl with purple hair through the perspective of a spherical object in her hands. A shrine maiden, you think.
[] You spot a young blonde man and a small, white-haired girl floating in the air beside him as they walk along the shore of an ocean.
[] You find yourself surprised when you notice that despite your efforts, this world seems to be yet another parallel version of your base universe. Could it be that Father was onto you? And just who is this boy in a red and white hat?

1 - Welcome to a World of Bloody Evolution
//So Blake won the vote.
//While I did confirm almost all of these, I will list them again for convenience: For those curious, the other choices were Homura Akemi from PMMM, PC-98 Era/Young Reimu from Touhou, Aether and Paimon from Genshin Impact, and Ash Ketchum from the Pokemon Anime.

[X] From the perspective of a stream, you see a girl with amber eyes and black hair washing her face. Upon her head is a peculiar looking bow that seems to occasionally twitch.
===================
Your first glimpse of the new world is that of what appears to be a human teenager with amber eyes and black hair, currently washing her face using your current window into the normal realm, which is presumably a stream in the middle of a forest. The color of the leaves in the treetops behind the girl indicate that the season is most likely autumn, if you were to guess.

As for the girl itself, you note a peculiar looking bow on the top of her head that seems to occasionally twitch. To be fair, though, that could simply be a result of the wind. What's more interesting is that she appears to have something equipped on her back: A sword, perhaps? You would honestly need a better look at it as there's only so much you can see from here, though you do wonder what the trigger-like mechanism at the base of what you assume is the crossguard is... It reminds you somewhat of a firearm, a barbaric little device that humans rarely make anymore for obvious reasons, and the thought of a society that hasn't practically phased them out of existence intrigues you, but then again one person is hardly a valid sample size for the population as a whole.

As the girl glances back down towards the stream, she lets out a startled gasp as her gaze meets yours.

Hmm, it appears that she noticed you. Not completely unexpected, considering such occurrences have happened in the past - albeit rarely - but still somewhat impressive. Then again, you could simply be getting careless after observing the normal world for so long, and if that's the case you should probably rectify that. As you back away from your window slightly, the girl quickly turns around, drawing the device on her back -- revealing that it is, indeed, some sort of sword -- only to pause in confusion as she notices nothing behind her.

Her demeanor completely changes as she steps away from the stream, cautiously looking around for the source of the "reflection" she caught sight of. After several moments of this, she sighs and starts muttering something about needing some sleep. Oh good, perhaps she's dismissing her brief glimpse of you as a hallucination of some sort.

With that, she departs from the area, and with your limited field of view you are unable to effectively track her movements. To be fair, temperate forests tend to make poor areas for observation anyway, with most of the potential windows being scattered ponds and puddles with an occasional stream or river. Therefore, you depart from this area and begin to cast your gaze elsewhere.

Soon you arrive at a more promising cluster of windows, and in this case it's more literal, as the reflective surfaces are a great multitude of glass panes spread all over a wide area, a typical sign of a human settlement. Peering outwards, you indeed catch a glimpse of a bustling city. While there are a great deal of humans here, there is not a single pokemon in sight. Of course, this is to be expected. Without your father's influence in the creation of this universe, pokemon could not exist. Curiously, you also notice that some of the humans appear to have bestial traits merged with their bodies. You ponder whether or not it is a natural occurrence, or a choice made by those individuals. One thing that is certain, however, is that these different humans appear to be looked down on by other members of society, as you observe several looks and a few instances of mistreatment as you travel the reverse side of the city.

Of course, beyond that you don't pay much mind to the social stratification. You've seen such behavior in humans before countless times throughout the ages, so much that it's likely an ingrained part of their nature. Besides, unless their stupidity actually escalates to the point where it somehow manages to cause a pollution event in the Distortion World, you have little reason to care anyway.

***
As the observation continues into the night, you catch your first glimpse of this world's moon through the surface of a lake. You cannot help but marvel at the chaotic arrangement of this planet's natural satellite, shattered in such a way that it resembles an eternal explosion. You can think of several tribes of Clefairy that would immediately run around screaming about an impending apocalypse if they ever caught sight of this. Additionally, the thought of one or more Lunala freaking out and the mental image of a completely unamused Cresselia sends you into a bout of internal chuckling.

Amusing thoughts aside, it's here that you also catch a glimpse of another form of this world's life: A pack of black creatures sporting an appearance vaguely reminiscent of a Houndour trudging along the side of the lake. These are definitely some form of predator, you imagine, and likely why that random girl in the wilderness was carrying that strange sword for protection. As you examine them, you can see that they are clearly capable of overpowering a defenseless human, and you'd even wager that a few species of weak, common pokemon could run into trouble if they were alone and ran into a few of these.

As the night continues, you observe other scattered pockets of wilderness around the city, finding that these creatures come in a great variety of forms: ranging from some that are closer to an Ursaring or Beartic in build, to others that are more distinctly avian in appearance. You also find that they occur in greater frequency the farther you get from the human settlement. You wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that, aside from a town off the coast, there have been barely any signs of human habitation in the areas immediately surrounding the city. Soon, the answer becomes clear when you happen upon the reverse side of a devastated settlement, several miles southeast of the city, that appears to be absolutely overrun with the dark creatures.

It appears that this world is going to be quite interesting to watch...

***
As your nighttime observations draw to a close, you do a quick flyby around the other, more familiar sections of the Distortion World to check for any damage that may have accumulated throughout the day through the actions of other legendary pokemon or human stupidity, deliberately ignoring the platform where Cyrus has taken up residence as you do so. After finding everything in order, you return to the area connected to the new universe and begin to plan your next move...

[] While observing the world as a whole is interesting on its own, you are not opposed to following around an interesting individual for a bit, as it tends to provide insight, or at the very minimum, entertainment.
-[] Your first glimpse of humanity in this world was an individual who also noticed your presence, albeit briefly. Perhaps it would be worth it to locate her once more and observe her activities?
-[] Search for individuals who actually seem interesting, then choose one of them.
-[] It doesn't matter who. Simply follow somebody at random.

[] There is far more to this world than the city and the surrounding areas you've discovered so far. Perhaps you should spend the day observing a new location?

[] Observe the city in general some more, perhaps something interesting will happen.

While you are tempted to investigate a part of the world you have not observed yet, you find your thoughts drawn towards the girl who noticed you yesterday. People noticing you watching -- whether you intended it or not -- is an uncommon occurrence, after all, so perhaps it might be worth it to shadow her for a bit in case she does something entertaining, and if not, following an individual can provide some insight on how this world functions.

With your mind made up, you float through the Distortion World towards the stream you first glimpsed the girl at. She's quite obviously not there, but this is at least a place to start looking. Within moments of your arrival you begin a spiraling search pattern outwards, examining every puddle and pond you come across for traces of her.

After many, many hours of scouring every window you've come across, you eventually find her walking through the streets of the city. Unfortunately, she doesn't do anything worth mentioning as you follow her, aside from occasionally pausing to glance around. After a while, she ends up stopping at what seems to be a small inn or hotel, and appears to request a room for the evening.

Her path to her current form of lodging takes her through several blind spots where no sufficient window exists, though despite that it does not take long to locate her room when she arrives in it. After closing the door behind her, she walks over to the nearest chair and collapses in a heap. She remains like this for a while, before shifting her position and adopting a contemplative look. Aside from that, nothing particularly interesting happens for a while until she eventually gets up and walks to a different part of the room that is unfortunately out of the field of view the room's mirror provides. Shifting to the other window, you find yourself mentally frowning when your view is obstructed by a set of blinds.

You suppose it doesn't matter, you are a patient pokemon after all. Surely something worthwhile will come of this eventually.

By the time you notice the girl again, she appears to be preparing to sleep, and you take this as your cue to do your another sweep of the Distortion World. As usual, you find nothing amiss, and once you finish you make your way back to where you left her. It appears dawn is breaking in the new universe, which fortunately means you do not have to wait long before the girl awakens and begins moving again.

After finishing some morning preparations, the girl departs from the inn and begins to make her way through the city with what seems to be conviction, stopping every once in a while to ask for directions. Curiously enough, she still seems to occasionally glance about, sometimes in your direction, though you make that she doesn't witness you again when she does. You idly wonder if she realizes she's being watched, though it could also be that she's merely overly cautious.

Her journey through the city eventually has her boarding one of humanity's flying contraptions -- which are quite dissimilar to what you're used to seeing in your world -- and using it to travel to a tower on a cliff overlooking the city. While you did notice this area yesterday, you did not linger and therefore only had a brief glimpse of what was going on in the vicinity. From what you can tell, it appears to be some kind of institution, though the campus appears to be a bit sparsely populated at the moment. You recall that some human institutions operate on a seasonal basis, so you assume that -- for whatever purpose this place serves -- it is currently in an off-season.

Using whatever windows are available to you, you track the girl to a structure at the edge of the complex. Irritatingly enough, there are very few exploitable windows within that allow you to glimpse what's going on...

The girl emerges some time later, and makes her way back to the landing area for the flying machines. You feel somewhat unsatisfied as she boards one of the craft and heads back to the main city. What was her purpose for coming here? What went on in that building? Hopefully you can infer what occurred through later observation, though it's always possible that you might never know either. While it is well within your ability to just pull her into the Distortion World and simply ask, that would break your policy of noninterference, and probably terrify the poor human anyway.

Before you can continue with your surveillance, you suddenly feel a presence brush up against your senses. Unfortunately, this presence is quite familiar to you...

Palkia is near the edge of the Distortion World, in the null space between this world and your base universe. He has not breached the boundary.

[] Investigate his presence immediately. As a master of space and dimensions, it is well within his power to trespass into your domain if he wanted to.
[] Ignore it and continue observation. This is likely only a coincidence and he will not enter.
