With a multidimensional villainous group threatening the stability of the pokemon multiverse, and wishing to deal with them in the least metaphysically destructive manner, Arceus brings an outside-context hero to the pokemon world.

//Starting up a pokemon quest because I've wanted to run a nice long pokemon adventure for a while.

//Also for those who follow my other quests: Updates on a couple of those will resume sometime during the upcoming week.
---------------------------

Deep within the shining corridors of the Hall of Origin, the Original One was troubled.

Throughout the course of history, the darker parts of human nature would manifest themselves as a threat to the world every once in a while, and each time they would be beaten back by the cooperation of people in pokemon, often in the form of a single hero who happened to be in the right place at the right time.

However, not every conflict between ill and good-intentioned humans ends on a positive note. No, there existed several timelines and parallel universes where one or more of these dark organizations would succeed, bringing disaster and reshaping society on a large scale. These so-called dark worlds served as grim reminders of how terribly things could go wrong if even a small event was out of place.

Fortunately, the repercussions of these dark worlds remained within the confines of their universal boundaries… Until now, that is.

Recent history saw the emergence of a wicked organization. Unlike the ones that came before, however, this one was able to operate on a multiversal scale, contacting several of the darker timelines and pulling individuals from them to bolster its own ranks. It soon became clear to Arceus that this group would be a considerable threat to the stability of the pokemon multiverse if left to their own device…

As he kept a watchful eye on the group, he witnessed the predictable rise of a hero that was able to fight them off… Unfortunately, the hero's success served only to repel them for a time. Not only that, but they were able to adapt and learn from the experience as well, allowing them to easily take over several similar worlds.

This pattern would repeat itself several times, and as the villainous group continued to adapt to every new obstacle thrown at them, it became clear to Arceus that further intervention was necessary.

But how to go about it? While he could attack them directly, it would likely incur a significant amount of collateral damage and destabilize the multiverse even more if he went all out, which would be necessary considering several of the team's leadership controlled legendary pokemon from their own universes that were forcibly subsumed into their cause. Not to mention that the organization would easily adapt to anything the pokemon world would throw at them after a few repetitions.

So then, why not give them an obstacle that they would have a hard time adapting to? One that they would never see coming?

With this thought in mind, Arceus began to peer beyond the veil that housed his local multiverse, seeking out individuals from other worlds that had the right amount of potential to deal a major blow to the evil organization, if not put a stop to it entirely. As he compiled a list of potential candidates, he noted that there might be a risk of contamination if he messed with the boundaries of certain universes, but considering the circumstances such an event would be a necessary evil…

Eventually, he arrived at a list of eight prospective individuals:

[] A red-cloaked child with a scythe, who, while naive, has a strong mindset for heroics.
-No contamination risk.

[] A black haired girl with cat ears, who, despite her past, has a strong sense of righteousness.
-No contamination risk.

[] A raven haired girl with a shield, who, despite her cold mask, possesses a strong sense of determination.
-CONTAMINATION RISK: Cycle of Despair - Entities necessary for the continued survival of this candidate will be dragged across the veil along with her.

[] A blue haired girl with a sword, who, despite her terrible fate, possesses a strong sense of justice.
-CONTAMINATION RISK: Cycle of Despair
- Entities necessary for the continued survival of this candidate will be dragged across the veil along with her.

[] A red and white shrine maiden, who, despite her apparent laziness, has a strong sense of intuition.
-CONTAMINATION RISK: Conflicting Boundaries
- Messing with the multiversal veil attracts someone's attention, for better or worse.

[] A girl with three eyes, who, despite being loathed, is capable of forming bonds with those that cannot easily communicate.
-CONTAMINATION RISK: Conflicting Boundaries
- Messing with the multiversal veil attracts someone's attention, for better or worse.

[] A masked girl surrounded by a swarm, who, despite her circumstances, still believes she can be a hero.
-No contamination risk...?

[] A blue haired girl with red eyes, who despite not being fully human, has the potential to become more like one
.
-No contamination risk.

Making his selection, he began to ponder whether or not he should send his chosen one alone…

[] It would be for the best. A hero's journey usually starts off with just themselves anyway. (Only the chosen character and any contamination is brought over.)
[] Perhaps something familiar would make their burden more bearable. (3-7 individuals from the same universe as the protagonist are brought over as potential companions/rivals. One will be somewhere in the same starting region as you.)
[] To be fair, he doesn't necessarily have to send just one of them… (Every character from the above list that you didn't pick becomes a potential rival and starts in a random region you didn't choose.)

Nodding to himself, the Original One cast his gaze towards the world below. The evil organization was already working its influence on this universe, and appeared to be in it the less aggressive phase of its typical pattern. This is fortunate, as it would give his chosen plenty of time to adapt to their new circumstances. Implanting a small thought into their mind -- nothing more than a vague sense that they were brought to this world for a reason -- he directed his focus at one of the eight major regions of the world and began to set his plan into motion… His chosen soon finding themselves in…

[] Kanto
[] Johto
[] Hoenn
[] Sinnoh
[] Unova
[] Kalos
[] Alola

With all tasks at hand completed, the only thing left to do now was to wait and see how things played out...

--------------------------

You are Rei Ayanami, pilot of Evangelion Unit 00, and your situation has taken an unforeseen turn.

You were waiting on standby at NERV headquarters while pilots Ikari and Soryu were dispatched on a mission to retrieve a nascent angel from within a volcano. The operation was proceeding as expected when you suddenly experienced a sensation akin to falling before blacking out. When you regained consciousness, you found yourself on a beach at an unknown location. The climate suggests that you're somewhere in the tropics...

A part of you wonders if you'd somehow dozed off, though such a thing is unlikely considering you allow yourself adequate sleep. The possibility that this may be the machinations of an Angel also crosses your mind, which would have very unfortunate implications considering it would mean that one would have managed to breach deep into NERV completely undetected, which would not bode well for humanity or the scenario. But even if it was the work of an angel, then why would it send you here rather than kill you outright? Perhaps this is some form of mental contamination?

Speaking of which, you do notice a feeling within you, a sort of comforting presence that gives off the impression that you're here for a reason. Despite the seeming reassurance it provides, it only seems to support that you may have been mentally compromised in some way. Even so, it's probably still too early to draw solid conclusions about your situation...

Glancing about, you notice that there appears to be a building further down the beach, one with a rather damaged looking roof that appears to have been patched with wood haphazardly. Immediately after that is when you notice a group of rather bizarre looking creatures nearby. They appear to be some kind of pink mammal, though they resemble nothing that you are aware of. Each of them sports a vacant expression and all of them appear to be catatonically gazing off into the ocean.

Keeping your focus on them as you begin trudging down the beach and wondering whether or not the strangely endearing-looking creatures posed a threat, you nearly find yourself colliding with another creature, which appears to be some kind of levitating squid. Definitely abnormal...

"Ink Inkay!" it chitters in irritation before continuing on its way in a huff. The sheer annoyance in the way it 'spoke' reminds you somewhat of Pilot Soryu...

You also note that the creature could very well have attacked you but chose not to. You honestly would've expected the opposite... Still it does seem to suggest no malevolent intent if this was indeed the result of an angel invading your mind, though for what reason you do not know, and if it wasn't an angel then you've either ended up someplace rather bizarre or you've truly passed out and are having a vivid... you believe it's called a dream? You make a mental note to report this to Dr. Akagi when you wake up if the latter theory ends up being true.

You continue towards the building without much issue, noticing other strange lifeforms as you travel, notably some seagull-like birds with a cry that sounds sorta like "Wingull" repeated over and over... Reaching the door, you consider whether or not it would be worth it to knock. If this wasn't a hallucination then if there's someone living here it would be a good source of information regarding whatever this place is, but then again if it was it would be fundamentally pointless, assuming anything actually lived here at all considering the state of the place.

As you stand there debating, the door suddenly swings open and you find yourself knocked off of your feet by a girl rocketing out of it.

"Oof!" she grunts as she ends up on top of you, and upon noticing you staring up at her she immediately gasps and scrambles to get off of you, "Oh my god I'm so sorry, I didn't expect anybody to be there!" she apologizes as you lay there.

She appears to be around your age, if not slightly younger, and has shoulder length hair topped with a rather strange looking red hat that has some sort of floral-esque flare. Her wardrobe consists of nothing more than a pair of green shorts, a loose fitting tee-shirt that's actually tied off towards the bottom, and a red bag slung over her shoulder and hanging at her side. Around her left wrist is a peculiar looking white bracelet that you honestly mistake for a watch at first...

"You zzzhould really watch where you're going, Zzzzelene..." a voice chastises, a quick glance towards the door identifies it as belonging to some kind of floating orange device... with a face...

Your situation keeps getting stranger it seems...

"I know that, Rotom! It's just... how often does something like this happen, seriously?" the girl questions the floating thing before turning back to you, "Oh, um... sorry... need some help?" she offers a hand.

"The offer is appreciated, but it won't be necessary." you reply, as you are perfectly capable of standing up on your own and proceed to do so.

"Ah, I see..." the girl droops a bit, before seeming to switch gears in a blink of an eye, "So... Are you here to see the professor? Oh, what am I saying, of course you are! Unless you're here for me? ...Um, you're not a stalker, right?"

"I--" you blink as you process that last question, "No, I am not. I was merely lost and wished to get my bearings."

"Oooooh, I see..." she nods, "So lost huh? I can help you with that! Where are you trying to go anyway?"

"...I am unsure. I woke up on the beach not long ago and do not recognize anything at all."

"Really?" she adopts a concerned look, "Yikes... And here I thought you were just someone who just moved in... Anyway you've washed up on Melemele Island, in the Alola region. Honestly you're lucky that you ended up on this side of the island because the wild pokemon on the other side tend to be more aggressive"

"I am unfamiliar with any of those terms."

"Ah... Well--W-Wait what!?" she double takes, the floating device similarly making a glitched noise as it suddenly turns its attention on you fully, "U-Unfamiliar with any of them? Even pokemon!?"

"That is correct." you reply, "...Is something wrong?"

"I-I mean I can understand not knowing about Alola but not knowing about pokemon? That has to be--wait..." realization seems to dawn on her, "Oh, I think I know what might be going on now..."

You stare at her as she seems to mentally debate with herself before straightening up and doing some sort of gesture with both of her arms.

"Alola!" she gives you a goofy smile, "I'm not really used to this, but I'd like to say welcome to another dimension!"

"...What."

"Look, I'm being completely serious." she stares at you, "This isn't the first time something like this has happened. Dimensions are weird around Alola. I'm not an expert in it though... Actually it's kinda convenient that you're at Professor Kukui's lab, since he could easily contact someone who can help you... Want to come in for a bit? I mean it's not my house but--Uh... You get the point."

[] Go inside. You came here for answers anyway and it's not like you have anything better to do.
[] Perhaps you should leave? You don't know if this girl is telling the truth anyway.
