You wake up, the same as always, to the light of the sun filtering through your blinds, the sound of bird song outside your window and the smell of wheat cakes rising up from the kitchen down stairs. You roll out of bed, literally, and fall to the floor, tangled in blankets. Even that jolt doesn't fully wake you up, and as you untangle yourself, head to the bathroom and step into the shower, you stumble through it all with the gait of a zombie. The warm water helps wake you up completely and you start to remember. There was something special about today, wasn't there?
You wash up automatically, your main attention taken up by trying to remember what's going on today. It's not a test, you know that. You've memorized your test schedule after all. And it's not anybody's birthday. So what is it?
Unfortunately, just as you think you might be getting it, your Aunt calls your name from downstairs.

"- If you don't stop wasting the hot water, you'll be late!"
Jumping slightly in surprise and embarrassment, you turn off the shower and step out. After drying off, you brush your teeth, run a hand through your messy brown hair and put on your glasses. All that's left is to throw on a hoodie and some jeans, grab your backpack and you're ready for another day at school.
As you rush out of your room, you nearly trip over your inheritance, one of the few things you have left to remember your parents by. Unsure how exactly how it got to the middle of your floor, and lacking the time to think about it, you simply shove the-

Downstairs, you're greeted with a familiar sight: Uncle Ben sitting at the kitchen table, reading the paper, while Aunt May is cooking up some pancakes to serve. As you sit down and Aunt May brings you your own plate, Uncle Ben puts down his paper and gives you a big smile.
"So, looking forward to your field trip?" He asks.
You feel like smacking yourself. The field trip! How could you forget? You've only been looking forward to it since forever. You're not sure how Midtown High booked enough seats for your class at this event, considering who's speaking there, but you really don't care. You're just happy that they did and that you have a chance to hear-

"Yep!" You answer with a grin of your own. "This is going to be awesome."
"Well, be sure to eat your fill before you go." Aunt May says, smiling kindly. "You'll need keep your strength up if you want to enjoy it."
You follow your aunt's advice and chow down on breakfast. Just as always, it's delicious, same as everything Aunt May cooks. While you do wish you could just sit and enjoy the food and the company, with all the extra time spent in the shower, you need to go or else you'll miss your bus.
In fact, you might miss it anyway. After you finish putting your plate in the sink, you check the time, only to realize that the bus is nearly at your stop already. You rush out the door with your bad and your shoes barely on and run as fast as you can to the bus stop. By the time you get there, you're panting from exhaustion but you made it. The bus pulls up just as you get there and you stumble your way on board.
Near the back of the bus, you can see your two friends waving at you. Looks like they saved you a seat.
Vote for two.

Hey guys, what's up? I'm RexHeller and welcome to Not Necessarily a Spider. In this quest, you be playing as a version of Peter Parker on an alternate Earth. In this universe, instead of getting bitten by a radioactive spider and becoming the Amazing Spider-Man, your chosen Parker will take a different path to becoming a hero.
I haven't locked down the mechanics quite yet, but this quest does take inspiration from a mechanic-heavy quest,
Ultimate Spider Quest over on SB. That quest was masterfully done and came to an early end thanks to that dreaded foe of all internet pass times: Real Life. I highly recommend checking it out if you have the time. But the point is, there will be some form of stats and dice rolls in the quest.
Also, while your main abilities will be from a different source, I'm not ruling out the possibility of gaining some spider abilities later. I could go either way, but I'll make my judgement off of the thread's reaction to the idea. On one hand, it could be seen as going back on the premise of the quest. But on the other hand, Peter Parker is so essentially Spider-Man, it might just not be right to go without some form of spider stuff. Of course, even if I do chose to put Spider Abilities in, some origins are more conducive to that than others.
I think that's all for now, so please. Enjoy the quest. And if you do, please consider checking out my Patreon in my signature. It would help me continue to do what I enjoy, writing this stuff for you guys.
