Alternately, we start talk up the poor portly dead dude - we met him and we liked him and by his attitude, I suspect a fair number of folks felt the same way.

Then we say that we found his body.

Then we say *where*.

To be fair, I think this first step isn't so much about argument or introducing fact but introducing ourselves to the Court. I think we probably want to emphasize our dreng status and trustworthiness, though I'm not sure how we prove that.

Uh, Silver Tongue and poetry? This is social combat, so beat him down with what Halla can use that tongue to convey?

It's a good idea to burn Odr on this, if possible. Really open up a trustworthiness gap from the start.

Yeah, neutering his money advantage is worth spending a pile of Odr on it. Make him using it as a cudgel instead of using his giant pile of elites to actually help secure the valley as something nobody wants to be caught touching with a ten foot pole.

Now mind you, this pisses Sharktooth off, but we were already going to have to fight him--and he's not from this community, so he can't exactly charge in and pick a fight while he's a viking on a felag raiding this very district.

Could we emphasise what we've done for the valley and our trustworthiness, while also highlighting Horra's own untrustworthiness and what little good he's done for the Valley compared to us?

Oh. Nevermind, Alectai's already doing that.

(Pump this roll with a full stack of Odr)

I like this if it's viable, though, uh, we actually don't know if you can spend Odr on social rolls, and if we can there's likely no cap (there isn't on crafting), so the 'pump this roll with Odr' is in need of serious revision. Not that we shouldn't put in some Odr if we can, but we don't want to spend our entire pool on this one roll.

It should be Silver Tongue or Word-Craft, based on whether this counts as either, right?

@Imperial Fister , weigh in on this? I know Odr cancels out bad rolls as well as gives an auto-success, but the capacity on this is limited to the Skill's rank, right?

Huh. Looks like us giving away our farm animals is going to prove useful, beyond earning us some orthstirr. Is there anything else we've done, besides that? Helping out Halfdan when he was attacked by bandits, perhaps?

[] Plan Say Hello, Halla
-[] Establish yourself as honorable and trustworthy. Recite your lineage and personal deeds and acts of charity, demonstrate your amount of orthstirr (impressive given our age and indication of possession of drengskapr). Openly wear your runed weapons and armor to show your skills (assuming that's allowed in Court). Have Half-dan, Stigr, Stigmar and Aki vouch for you.
-[] Spend 3 Odr

Maybe this is unnecessary as a write-in, but it's the approach I'm thinking. We can move into accusations and attacks next, this is about giving us a foundation.

Helping out Halfdan when he was attacked, helping out Aki's family and befriending Aki in general, vast amounts of charity (we gave away a whole lot of food and money in charity over the last two years).

4 Odr then? Since this is a direct attack on one of Horra's primary weapons in this debate? Turning it just a hair short of useless?

I might go 3 personally, but 4 isn't unreasonable.

Odr + Drengskapr means we start at 13 successes, before anything else comes into play. Odr removes failures, and we're rolling between 12-13 dice afterwards, we've got a fair shot at getting a Superior or better level result out of our opening salvo. Plus we get to leverage the whole "Odr Cultivators just feel more solid" phenomena we learned from our Blackhand Questioning to help our words sink in more deeply.

All of this, and I think us also helping Stigr out of his nidheart would also help establish our character.

Could we include our other drengr-like deeds? Especially all the shit we gave away, meanwhile Horra is just flashing money but doesn't help anyone with it.

Off the top of my head, our trustworthy actions are saving Halfdans family and destroying the bandit camp recently. Stigr's nidheart might also count?

Edit: also the charity, forgot about that

I like the idea of actively shutting down Horra's wealth flaunting as much as possible.

Also, for stuff other than the main vote on the trial, I've made plans:

Basically, we want a decent armring to make one more runed item, but jewelry is expensive so we shouldn't buy anything more than that right now.

And this is all the kids with Incredible or Unstoppable potential, three boys and three girls. Which seems right-ish?
