We need the sight and it only has 1 less health than us, Though we do have armor i doubt he has to get through all 8 hit points, maybe just 1 and the rest goes to us. If he can kill he can fyljga in on hit? good chance he can kill us in 1 hit.

Uh, no? 4 damage is way different compared to 13 damage, what the hell?

The funny thing is.

This would be a very good strategy against most Vikings.

But Halla being a Standstill Adept sort of makes it not worth the expense. Sure, it costs us, but it means he's wasting time while we're closing all the while, and everyone else in the Felag is going to be fresh as a daisy.

-[ ] (19) (Inertia Arresting Throw x4) (24 Orthstirr) + 3 Orthstirr on Reinforce Shield (6 layers)

Actually, wait, this doesn't work. You need to specify how many dice per IAT, and also this isn't enough dice per IAT, I don't think. I'm not sure we need a whole 4 this turn, but I think we need more than 6 or 7 dice per IAT we do attempt.

Incidentally @Imperial Fister . In the event of this kind of Ranged Intercept, even if we fail, we'll make it easier on the target to protect themselves, right? Since our Intercept resolves before the attack even reaches the defender.

I'm not good at figuring out how the dice works, I'm more of a tactics and direction person. That's why I didn't finalize anything.

we have 5 endurance hp, i doubt he has to actually go throguh all 8 hp of our armor, a dead man's armor can still be intact

add in the fact we will have to rely on passing a scouting roll for every javelin or a intercept from allies without our fylgja? yeah we get hit once or twice taking like 3 endurance dmg and 2 armor dmg? RIP

The system doesn't work like that. He has to go through our 8 hp to actually deal endurance damage. It's always been like that. There might be some sort of armour penetration ability out there, but there's no indication that this Squire can do so.

still dont think we will be able to anything if we have to pass a scouting check each javelin, though abjorn has to intercept if we would get hit i think due to his traits

Sure, that makes sense to me
Good catch! I actually don't remember what I was gonna say here so I'll just go ahead and delete it

You won't have to

So here's what I'm thinking. 10d6 is hopefully enough to actually stop the spears? Maybe not...I

[X] Plan Shieldwall And Fire
-[X] Stoke Frami (+43 Orthstirr)
-[X] 9d6 Attack (all tricks)
-[X] 1d6 Defense
-[X] 27d6 Intercept (all tricks)
-[X] Put 2 Orthstirr into 4 layers of Reinforce Shield before the combat begins (-2 Orthstirr)
-[X] As soon as the squire is in range, toss a 9d6 (10d6 w/Hugareida) Kindle Spinner attack (-5 Orthstirr) at his mount, hoping to force the horse to panic, or both of them to close.
-[X] Prepare three 9d6 (11d6 w/Hugareida) Inertia-Arresting-Throw Intercepts to use if people other than Halla are attacked at range (-6 Orthstirr each). If he charges while we still have one ready, use it on his horse's legs to stop the charge.
-[X] In response to any Trick Attack directly targeting us use Halting Vortex (-4 Orthstirr)...if an attack somehow gets through that attempt to Sidestep (-4 Orthstirr) if possible. If our fylgja is attacked use Halting Vortex no matter what (-4 Orthstirr). If we can also shield Abjorn on top of us and our Fylgja (or the Fylgja has fled) use Halting Vortex to defend him as well if it looks like his own defenses have failed (-4 Orthstirr).
-[X] Tactics – Bring up a shieldwall and advance as a unit, Abjorn taking point. Bring out Halla's Fylgja and keep it with her to play spotter, attempt to intercept incoming Javelin throws with Inertia Arresting Throw to support the defense. Stay together at all costs. Fylgja is to be veiled again when the range closes (using the mundane Defense die to leave if possible). If he charges, we use any remaining IAT to trip his horse, which should be nasty.

Basically, this is gambling a little on, if he makes 4 attacks, at least one will be against Halla. That seems like a reasonable gamble. It also encourages him to charge us since it proves we, too, have ranged attacks, and sets up a bit of a trap if he does so before exhausting his ranged options.

EDIT: Edited slightly to improve our IATs at the cost of relying entirely on HV to defend ourselves. That's worth it. Added emergency Sidestep use just in case...it seems unlikely that anything breaks Halting Vortex and even more unlikely that Sidestep could salvage things if it does...but it's still worth noting the contingency.

Don't we not want to take any endurance damage cause of well miscarriage possibility.

That's not a serious risk for this turn, and is part of why we're advancing as a unit. The key is getting to combat range without having burned ourselves out first or taking significant losses.

@Imperial Fister it causes me well nigh physical pain to bring this up, but it looks like the character sheet has been updated, and yet does not have our now sadly reduced Hamingja of 7 or our thus reduced Training Dice of 22. The latter probably won't come up imminently, but the Hamingja may.

You're right, fixing. Have a reward dice for your honesty
