Congratulations on chapter 100!

(The plot starts. And thickens. At the same time.)

Who knows what kind of sicknesses she has
"You are the Royal Physician of Gallia, a square class Water mage, you tell me what kind of sicknesses she has.
I am the Duke Henry Philippe De Normandy-"
De Normandy?

Upon reading more and learning she is French, and Henry presumably deduced that somehow, was he trying to make it more familiar to her?
Why do you wanna know that, ya creep?"
That came out of nowhere.

So Joseph really did summon a useless girl. It's a shame he didn't summon one that wasn't also a magical girl or a superhero, well at least she has the void runes to empower her, otherwise she'd be entirely dead weight.

Nope. It's late here and I've spent most of the day going 'round doing stuff.

So since Brittany is kind-of up there with Normandy, my brain went "Oh, let's play switch!" and that's pretty much it.

Also, the main thing that everyone's pointing out is that Mallard is french for Duck, and the pronunciation of "Anne" sounds like "Un" "Un Mallard" "One Duck."

I am truly the wisest of men, creating such original names. :V

Huh. Presuming this is a new OC, it's going to be interesting to see how you handle an OC in such a powerful position. She's likely to trigger scenes that force the story to focus on her instead of the other characters or Henry. And the more that happens, the more potential for her to substantially screw up readers' immersion in the setting.

But if handled well, she'd hopefully be an interesting look at the consequences of Henry's actions without taking over the story.

Her last name is Mallard. A Mallard is a type of duck. A few chapters ago Raven said he wanted to be a duck. Thus Joseph summoned a duck friend for Raven.

Edit*
One could say they are birds of feather.
Others have pointed it out better than I ever could.
>_>

I think people were expecting that the exclamations of recognition meant that the character was recognized from somewhere else. Not merely a bit of language amusement.

You can even be Karin the Heavy Wind, but if you can't see the bullet coming for your head then your brains are going to go kablow. Well, mostly. I had snipers, but I didn't have sniper rifles. So it was mostly half a dozen of bullets that made the shaman bleed like a bag of blood on the ground, which he was.

Rifled muskets would be used by sharpshooters. Rifles just didn't catch on as a main weapon until the minie ball was invented. Before that it'd take too long for the gun to be reloaded because of the grooved barrel.

Personally, I would eventually crack at feigning ignorance, just for a chance to talk about Earth and talk with a fellow person on stuff like the lack of modern technology, etc. Maybe try to probe on whether her Earth is different.

Her parents must have hated her... :p

She is a duck?

Honestly :p

So I guess the answer was random french girl from Paris for 100 points.

I guess I was the one that hit the closest :)

What do I win?

"Excuse me, but I demand for that low-born commoner wearing scandalous clothes to be beheaded at once! Not only did she injure my Henry, but she insulted him and called him a creep! That ******* *****!"

- Isabella's rant when she finds out what happened.

You need to teach etiquette quickly because if she so much opened her mouth in front of other noble and offend them...

Let's just say Saito's punishment wasn't uncalled for when you realize how ignorant his actions were when knowing the setting.

Let's not repeat that for this poor girl. As a stranger in a whole new world best not to start making poor impression in order to get friends by her side.

Hmm... A thought:

I vaguely remember that a number of the stories that Henry tells his sisters and Isabella were adapted from stories he knew from Earth.

How long before Anne manages to hear one of those stories and makes a connection? Or will she make the connection, I wonder...
