In one bleak future Brainiac invaded Earth, mopping up its few defenders after the Heroes and Villains killed each other off. In that same future the Resistance stole the Exobytes, Nanites carrying unimaginable data and energy that can grant any man or women superhuman powers. Sending them to the past would allow Earth to prepare and build an army to oppose Brainiac.

Lex Luthor made off with some.

But not all of them. Batman still ensured his future was averted ... but he wasn't done. To fight evil wherever it existed he gathered a council of Batmen who work to spread hope and justice across the multiverse.

You are one of their contingencies. You are one of the Nightwatch, Technological Revenants created to inspire terror in Villains and Criminals and to found new generations of Heroes across Time and Space.


Freshly manufactured in a hidden, automated Waynetech Complex you have been loaded with Exobytes and a specific mission in mind...

The Earth known as Earth Bet is a familiar world of Superheroes and Supervillains. The distinction came in the fact that there were more villains than heroes and it shows. Before his destruction the former Nightwatch Unit assigned to Earth Bet reported that the reason is that 'Parahuman' Powers result from Trauma and Stress triggers and that Power use is highly addictive. Add to that an apparent family of aggressive high-class threats that the League Equivalents have yet been able to take down and it is a recipe for disaster.

Exiting the Boom Tube you have appeared not far from your fallen Brother's Hideout in Brockton Bay, the 'Parahuman' density capitol of North America and one of it's most Villain crime-ridden cities as well. Under the cover of night you access it and find the converted abandoned warehouse untouched and secure from intrusion. The defenses stand down and the server welcomes another user of BatNet.

Logging in you find your predecessor was compiling a list of suitable candidates to start the Earth Bet branch of the Justice League ... after finding evidence of the root deep corruption in the North American PRT/Protectorate. It was, apparently, what got him in the crosshairs of these same rogue elements; as he had been tracking an unknown agent: A Mediterranean women wearing a fedora and suit who is rumored to be responsible for various crimes as well as selling powers. Her motivations are unclear but he claims in his report that the Triuumvirate may be her co-conspirators.

Concerning.

You reconnect the Local BatNet to The Council, informing them of your arrival and the situation-on-the-ground. One of the Batmen has granted you access to an Exobyte Infusion to better prepare you for future fights. He also relays that they cannot send a Batman or even Battroids as they are being drawn to a different dimensional conflict, one that unfortunately supersedes yours.

He relays you orders to retrieve or destroy the Nightwatch Unit, especially it's Blackbox, first and foremost. Your predecessor's tracking beacon has been undetected since his destruction and has been sending discrete signals every 15 minutes. Currently the Nightwatch, or at least its Blackbox is located underground, right below the office of 'Fortress Constructions'. It is owned by Former PRT Agent Thomas Calvert who is a suspected accomplice or undetermined associate of the conspiracy.

With the last of your Predecessor's assets in the safehouse now reassigned to your ownership you begin the process of planning your next move....
