So it looks like Netflix is doing a CG remake of Saint Seiya

The article above says that Netflix is doing a 13 episode season covering that first initial arc of the series and the following Silver Saint one

I'm cautiously excited. If this is done well, we could get some really excellent fights, especially if it catches on and they do the Gold Saint stuff :)

Also, have some Pegasus Fantasy

Dear lord do I feel old.

And "Knights of the Zodiac"? Huh. Seems like the french title caught on.

Well, Netflix has proven they can do well with this sort of thing. So I'm sure they'll manage to do well again. However, I'm not particularly familiar with the original material, so my hype is... lacking.

Is that where it's from? Cause in Italy it's the same, and the first time I heard them called "Saints" confused the heck out of me.

I'm not entirely certain if the French version was the first to do it, but I do know I grew up with "Les Chevaliers du Zodiaques" as a kid (and yes, was also surprised by this "Saint" business when I found out)

Huh. here in Indonesia they keep the tile of Saint Seiya but in the first time it airs, all dialogues also use the Indonesian equivalent word for knight ('satria'). in the 2000s, there's another airing using a new translation, this time keeping the use of the original English terminologies like 'saints'. I'm not feeling strange at all with the 'saint' term since it was always there right in the title, but it was odd to hear the moves being called out in English after the memory of hearing it in the Indonesian form.

Anyway, cool I guess. I have actually never watch the starting arc so it will interesting.

Why the heck they call it 'netflix original series' though.

EDIT:
Man, there's something right in the nostalgia feels about listening to Pegasus in the very morning hours. It reminiscent of the childhood when I wake up (for a certain value of 'wake') in the dawn at Sunday to watch tokusatsu or anime.

'Netflix Original' gets applied to stuff they've never had a hand in producing. This is actually by Toei - their second CG series since Seikaisuru Kado. I wouldn't be surprised if this is just licenced by Netflix, but they might be putting cash up for it.

The series still has Saint Seiya as a subtitle, incidentally.

It usually means they're paying for it. Either in whole or a substantial part of it. It also means that, where Netflix has a significant market share, it'll only be available on Netflix.

Yeah, Netflix Original just means it's a Netflix exclusive for your particular market. Like in the west Little Witch Academia is labeled a Netflix original even though it was made by Trigger and aired on Japanese television. Star Trek Discovery is going to be labeled a Netflix original everywhere outside the US and Canada.

If I had a dollar for every Netflix Original that wasn't actually original to them and had nothing to do with them at all, I could buy Netflix.

And here I am waiting for more news on Saintia Shou. Oh well, I might give this one a shot, see what (if anything) is new.

I've not actually read Saintia Sho, so I can't actually speak to whether it's, you know, good. Or at least not a little gross. But it's definitely in that post-Omega 'Kurumada is really sorry that there weren't many good heroines' space that gave us Aquila Yuna, so I'd like to see some kind of adaptation. The manga's hard to find.

Scratch that, I did some looking and the Saintia get sidelined by Gold Saints all the time :V
