Well, one gate kinda messed up Lee pretty bad in his fight against Gaara (admittedly after using a gated move like the Lotus), so I'd saaaaaaaaay, second gate would probably leave you extremely sore. Third Gate is where the real injuries rack up imo.

Stains of Time/Siren's Scream combo does not require line of sight, being a sound-based genjutsu and is kind of really, really powerful way to set up a knockout blow. So we disengage, then hit him while he can't hit us back. Friendly fire is not a concern according to QM.
Fighting head-on in this situation allows our enemy to leverage their unfair bullshit abilities and trivially shut down the majority of our unfair bullshit moves by fucking with our hand seals and flinging us around like a sack of potatoes. So, don't. Our illusions are good at neutralizing opponents without allowing them to try to kill us back.

Well, I guess we'll be seeing a reenactment of Wolverine vs Magneto. I hope I underestimated how strong and fast we could be, and we overwhelm the guy before he repeatedly ragdolls us across the battlefield.

Unsure if you were still under Gaikotsu's control, you unlocked the second gate, releasing a pulse of chakra as you did! You easily dodged the ribs flying at you, chaining together hand seals and running right at Gaikotsu. He tried to do...something with his hands, but you used the body flicker jutsu to increase your speed, now behind him. Gaikotsu spun around as you looked straight into his eyes and preformed the Limb Switch genjutsu.
"Huh...?" Gaikotsu muttered, looking at his hands. Which in his eyes, would have been his feet. You followed this up by using your Touch of Disorientation by tapping his forehead, making his eyes cross and forcing him to stumble around.
"Take this!" you shouted, slamming your fist into his face and forcing his head to snap backwards. You followed up with a kick to his ribs that sent him flying to the side. You punched forward, your arm stretching a long distance to grab Gaikotsu's leg and pull him towards you. As he got close you jumped forward at him and hit a flying knee right into his chest. As he stumbled backward, grasping his chest, you finished off your assault by punching Gaikotsu in the face and sending him downward into the ground!
You breathed heavily as you felt your gates close, your body suddenly feeling heavy and sore. You hoped that would be the end of the fight, but Gaikotsu quickly jumped onto his feet, looking absolutely no worse for wear, barring a bruise on his cheek and a nose bleed.
"Owwwww! That really hurt, good thing I like rolling with the punches!" Gaikotsu chuckled, sharp bones poking out of his fingertips. You raised your arms weakly as a defense, but thankfully a whip made of bone suddenly wrapped around Gaikotsu, trapping him! You looked over to the side, seeing Kimimaro with a bone whip in one hand, and his other arm was now a massive, condensed drill-like spear!
"This is the end!" Kimimaro shouted as he pulled Gaikotsu towards himself. Gaikotsu bared his teeth through the smile he had and his chest began to bulge and deform. From Gaikotsu's chest came a giant wall of bone, his sternum and rib cage fused together to stop Kimimaro's attack! Kimimaro slammed his spear into the large bone wall and after a moment of struggling, the spear managed to break through the wall, although the sharp tip had broken, only leaving a blunt end that smashed into Gaikotsu, the laughing man trying to defend as much as possible by crossing his extra pair of skeletal arms in front of him
You heard Gaikotsu cry out in pain as he shot backward, the power of Kimimaro's attack making the bone whip surrounding Gaikotsu stretch out and snap, his extra arms breaking into pieces. Both you and Kimimaro stood side by side, watching Gaikotsu lay in a heap on the ground. Kimimaro turned to you, panting heavily. "Thank you Maya, I couldn't get off that attack unless he was well distracted."
"It's fine, is he done?" you asked.
"OKAY THAT HURT!" a sudden voice shrieked. Gaikotsu woozily got to his feet, clutching his chest and coughing up a bit of blood. "Good thing I'm barrel chested or else I'd have been drilled into the afterlife!"
"How can he still move after that?" you asked in disbelief.
"You can see that Gaikotsu and I can control our bones in various ways. He most likely made his bones expand under his skin and harden to defend against our attacks. It's not a perfect defense, he still took a lot of damage, but this isn't over yet." Kimimaro explained.
"That last attack was pretty blunt, Kimmy! So how about I make this one sharp?" Gaikotsu shouted as he made hand seals and slammed his hands on the ground! Large, sharp bones began to erupt out of the ground and they were heading right towards you and Kimimaro!
My worst fears thankfully did not come true. Good.
The ground shift feels nice and elegant, but he is rooted to the ground through the bones. Metal wall would be a better choice, I think. We could try dodge, but we are exhausted.

If anyone is worried, I asked QM if our sound genjutsu hit our allies; they don't. I assume Kimmimaru is not going to sit on his ass either, so Siren's scream will enable him to finish the fight. Hopefully.
Added stains of time just be sure, but idk if really needed. Not going to hurt, though.

You forced your arms to move to make hand seals before slamming the ground with your open palms. "Metal Release: Imperial Wall!"
The earth shook in front of you and Kimimaro as a large wall made of a dull gray metal rose between you two and Gaikotsu's attack. However, Gaikotsu's jutsu simply went under your metal wall and continued to approach you! Kimimaro roughly grabbed you by your shirt and pulled you away, barely managing to escape a painful death by impalement!
You panted heavily, your body aching in extreme pain. Between the gates, your assault, and using the metal wall, you felt pretty darn exhausted! Kimimaro stood in front of you as Gaikotsu prepared another jutsu, firing out more rib projectiles at Kimimaro! Before Kimimaro could react, someone jumped in between Kimimaro and the attack, easily swatting the bones away with a utterly massive sword.
"What the...?" you muttered, looking at your new savior. He was a muscular man wearing a brown poncho. He carried a sword that was easily double your height and was thick enough to act as its own shield with one hand. He turned to look at you and Kimimaro, his dull blue eyes were sunken deep into his skull. He said nothing as he turned back to Gaikotsu.
"Here comes the reinforcements, eh? Pretty big sword you got there, compensating for something?" Gaikotsu laughed, but the swordsman didn't respond at all. "Strong but silent type, hm? I'll get you to laugh!"
The swordsman began walking towards Gaikotsu and the laughing man used his unique hand motions. But his bone control seemed to have no effect on the swordsman besides making him stop for half a second. Gaikotsu's smile faltered for a single moment before putting more effort into his jutsu, now using both hands.
The swordsman was brought to a halt...for a second. With a flex of his muscles, he freed himself from Gaikotsu's control! Gaikotsu's eyes widened as he took a step backwards, his smile now twitching, as if trying to grimace.
Gaikotsu then began to fire out all sorts of bone projectiles at the swordsman, who readied his blade and swung at Gaikotsu. His blade easily shattered all the bone projectiles that it hit, and the pure wind pressure from the strength of his slash deflected the others. Gaikotsu took another step backwards, despite the twitching smile on his face, you could see the panic and fear in his eyes.
The swordsman rushing forward now with surprising speed, the ground underneath him cracking. As he got close, Gaikotsu formed a bone spear coming out of his palm and thrusted it at the swordsman, but the muscular man grabbed the spear and with a clench of his fist, shattered it into pieces. Before Gaikotsu could respond, the swordsman dropped his blade, which created a large cloud of dust as it sank a few inches into the ground and grasped the laughing man by his neck, forcing him to cough and sputter wildly.
Gaikotsu made bone claws coming out of his fingers and bone daggers coming out of his feet and flailed wildly against the swordsman, scratching at his arm and kicking at his torso. However, none of the attacks phased the swordsman as he continued choking the life out of Gaikotsu, his wounds only going skin deep it seemed.
"Ah, it's so nice to see my brother at work." a voice said. Turning your attention to the side, you saw a pretty girl with light brown hair and bright blue eyes. She gave you a gentle smile and said, "Don't worry, we heard of the situation. We were sent to help you out."
The girl made hand seals and her hands began to glow with a soft green aura. She placed her hands over you and you began to feel your aches and pain slowly go away. "Excuse me, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Ishako Shigisei, and that's my brother Kaitaikojo dealing with that man over there."
"Uh...I'm Maya..." you muttered in disbelief.
"Stop your brother, he's going to kill Gaikotsu! He can't die!" Kimimaro shouted at Ishako.
Ishako looked annoyed and disappointed, but sighed and called out to her brother. "Kai, keep him alive!"
Kaitaikojo turned his head and nodded, releasing his grip on Gaikotsu's neck and dropping him to the ground. Gaikotsu took large gulps of air, but it was instantly knocked out of him when Kaitaikojo slammed his fist into Gaikotsu's chest. You heard the brutal sounds of his chest breaking into pieces and Gaikotsu's eyes rolled into the back of his head, falling limply to the ground. He was alive, but you could tell he was in critical condition.
"T-Thank you..." Kimimaro sighed in relief. Kaitaikojo walked over to the group, picking up his sword and standing next to Ishako as she continued healing you.
"I must take Gaikotsu to the hospital now, I can't let him die." Kimimaro muttered, walking away from the group towards the unconscious Gaikotsu. Kimimaro put Gaikotsu over his shoulders and vanished with a puff of smoke.
Ishako began to hum as she healed you and Kaitaikojo never took his eyes off you.
