I was thinking more "massively out of character" than "not a good idea." Hell, I'm pretty sure being able to care at all that she's hurt in the face of someone calling for help is beyond a Nanoha that hasn't gotten hospitalized by her attempts to tough it out at least once.

Right now it would be very easy for her to tell herself that it isn't real. Pain does funny things to people, plus she is in fact nine - she's still Nanoha, but her character hasn't really solidified yet.

Still, I see y'all want to keep this on rails for the moment. Very well; the rails may be rusty, but what's the worst that can happen?

Ep1 of Nanoha. Scene in bus. Nanoha: "Suzuka-chan, ALisA-chan"
Yes, Nanoha DO in fact call Alisa Alisa and not Arisa. Or at least that Japane R/L looks more like L in that case.

PS. Did a count on Ep1:
1st in the bus, Nanoha: Alisa
2nd in the bus, Nanoha: Alisa
3rd on the roof, Nanoha: not clear, middle R/L
EP6:
1st, Nanoha: Arisa this time (she is kinda "not 100% there" so it's understandable slip)
2nd, Suzuka: Alisa... well maybe middle R/L but looks more like L to me
3rd, Suzuka: Alisa.
4th, Nanoha: Arisa
5th,6th,7th: Suzuka: Alisa
8th, Nanoha: Alisa (she is more calm this time)
9th, Nanoha: middle R/L

Well, looks to me that despite Japanese not-really-r-or-l it's closer to L most of the time. And each and every have perfectly sounding A on the end and not U.

Wait, I think I got it. Whoever meets Yuuno gets Raising Heart right?

Is there any reason why we can't bring the other two along instead of stumbling blindly through the woods.

Hehe. Hum, well I suppose I can tell you that all three of them have sufficient magic to activate Raging Heart, it isn't just Nanoha.

Neat. We should have all three of them try it out, then. Assuming Arisa and Suzuka find out about it, and I don't see how they won't.

But right now, we have a ferret to save and it doesn't particularly matter who uses it first. They can play dressup when they're safe.

That would be Yuuno, then. His compatibility with RH is horrible; his power output is actually pretty good. Keep in mind, he was able to counter Arf without a device, and he isn't even a familiar. More of a traditional mage type.

That raises the question, that how the hell Yuuno ended up with a bombardment type Intelligent Device. He should use a Storage Device.

RH registers the most compatible user as primary user. Also, I think she actually likes Nanoha as person.

...Something else that occurs to me, does Nanoha learn her family's martial arts?

What with her father being some kind of assassin before he retired to open a cafe/cake shop(I guess taverns aren't 'in' anymore for former adventurers).

He's an archeologist. RH doesn't fit the aesthetic of, well, any other device in the series, unless you count the Jewel Seeds. He dug it up.

Absolutely. It isn't human-grade AI, but it's getting close. Personally, as a programmer, I'd find it odd if RH gets locked to a single person - that's not how you want your weapons, and with AI involved any such hard rule is highly suspicious; if something like that got stated later, it's equally likely to be due to RH not wanting anyone else to use it.

It happens to Unison Devices too, so I guess RH was some big shot's personal weapon some time back, with it's owner dead, Yuuno dug it up and it decided to stick with the girl it likes better.

Possibly with the incentive of getting to shoot really big beams.

There's nothing saying she can't like the other two. She never really knew them in canon, you know? Though RH will probably end up with Nanoha anyway due to compatibility and her crazy mana pool.

Attempted dressup is definitely worth blowing an update on anyway. Experimenting with ancient magitech with your friends is too fun to leave out.
