Rocking the life
You'd have to have lost all sanity to even consider running a D&D adventure for more than one edition at once.

I have apparently lost all sanity.

I asked and received permission from the staff to run this thread, where I gather people to join my madness as I run the published adventure Murder in Baldur's Gate for you. Actual gameplay will take place in a Discord server, but character builds and discussion can be done here.

Behind the scenes, I will be running monsters' health in percentages, with hits taking off a portion of health depending on the edition and the damage the attack would have dealt. The published adventure has files with monster statistics in all three editions, which is part of what inspired this madness. Characters using cross-edition spells on each other will be evaluated on a per-spell basis.

You may submit characters of 1st level from D&D 3.5, 4, or 5. Six characters in total will be accepted, though others will be held in reserve. You must name the sourcebooks you are drawing abilities from. I reserve the right to reject any character or any ability from a sourcebook that is not core, though I am unlikely to actually do this unless I deem it too likely to cause disruption to the playing experience or I don't have the book (and I have most of the sourcebooks on my Kindle, so you don't need to worry there).

Players should preferably have not previously played Murder in Baldur's Gate. Knowledge of the general Forgotten Realms setting or other Baldur's Gate works is unnecessary, though it might help you get some of the references. Players should have a basic idea of how to play Dungeons and Dragons, although this adventure takes place in a city and not a dungeon.

Finally, if someone with the ability to make tags wouldn't mind making a tag "d&d 4e" and tagging this thread with it, I would be grateful.

This is insane and so are you.

Edit: Thinking about it, based on what I know of 5e and PF. If you are a caster you want to go 3.5, and if you're a fighter or other martial class you want to go 5e. Maybe also 5e for bards, cause I think they might not have been full casters in 3.5

What's the rules for chargen? Point by or 6x 4d6 drop lowest?
Roll the dice. Preferably with SV's dice function.
Oh good god, this looks like it could be a total trainwreck.

I'm in.
Pick a race, class, and edition and roll up a character, then.

Note: You may submit multiple characters, but only one will be playing at the start. If you have multiple characters and one dies, you may bring in another character as long as they are distinct enough from each other.

Yeah, they do. I'm giving you one free reroll to make up for it.

Edit: That goes for @Aranfan as well.
Is that reroll for all 6? Or just the one low one? And thank you.

12, 14, 12, 12, 10, 13.

...

Well, better on average, but really, nothing over a 14?

I assume for the set?

Also, for precision attack, I am interpreting it as being able to spend the superiority die after I find out if the attack hit or not. Do you share that interpretation?
All six for both of you.

Disarming Attack, Distracting Strike, Goading Attack, Maneuvering Attack, Menacing Attack, Sweeping Attack, and Trip Attack all say "when you hit a creature", so yes, I do share that interpretation. The other Battle Master maneuvers either enhance an attack roll or aren't useable with a standard attack.

Rolling the stats again. Hopefully these won't suck.

Edit:
11, 11, 9, 14, 12, 15.

... Can I switch to Standard Array?

@Assembler I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm thinking of making a 4e character.

I do wonder how that would work though, especially re:levelling, and I was hoping you could give me some info on how that would work. Before I get too deep into making a character.

Would I be running my own experience track? Or would I only get up to level 20?

Your own experience track.

I'm going to toss my hat into the ring for a 5E Human Wizard. Rolls to follow...

Edit: Before racial bonuses... 17, 11, 6, 5, 16, 15 & 15. 5 was rerolled per DM's instructions.

So, Xanathar's guide has a character background generation section. Somehow I managed to visit the Shadowfell or Feywild, marry a silver dragon, break up amicably with a silver dragon, and somehow have ten siblings.

I'm throwing up a tentatively completed character sheet here. Hadrian Goldthorn, human wizard resident of Candlekeep.

I know nothing about this adventure, so I'll hold off coming up with a reason I'm in Baldur's Gate (assuming it starts there) just yet.
