You know the story. Lovable Loser meets Cosmic Deity who has him complete various missions across multiple Universes.
First Post
You are a young 27-year old male who lives in the Mid-Atlantic region of the USA. You went to a small liberal-arts college, got alright grades for a useless liberal arts degree, and shortly thereafter got a small dead-end job working as a book shelver for the local bookstore. You have a few hobbies, but nothing super-unique and unusual. All and all, a perfectly average individual.

You were walking along to your job one day when you came across a woman with deep lines across her face indicating lack of sleep and two young children. She locked eyes with you and said in an accent indicating she came from Latin America, "Excuse me sir, do you have money? I need for the rent by the end of today" You had heard of a recent spike in rent prices in the news. You were lucky, having a landlord that was very reasonable (aside from being a landlord that is), but others were not apparently. You looked inside your wallet and frowned to discover a crisp fifty-dollar bill and nothing else in cash. No ATM or store in sight. You looked at her.

"So, uh, exactly how much money do you need to cover rent?"

Her face lights up and she says " I need 200." Seeing your hesitant expression, she quickly adds "You can give any."

Shit.

You thought for a second, then sighed, wordlessly handing the money over to her. After all, you had already paid your month's rent, still had plenty of money, and could always move back in with your parents even if you did not. You figure she needed the money more than you.

As it turned out, you couldn't have been more wrong.

As soon as she received the money, you saw her and her children disappear, and in her stead was...A man covered in purple robes with a stern expression. He looked almost exactly as the superhero you imagined yourself to become as a child.

"You're kidding. No way." you stuttered in disbelief, your legs giving way as your rear end fell onto the pavement.

The being said in an otherworldly voice with just a faint hint of sorrow, "I figured my appearance would be the quickest way to explain to you what I need you to do for me."

"You need me to travel to other worlds. Other universes."

"Yes."

This interdimensional deity was going to take you from your home and everything you had known, and put you in dangerous situations with the lives of millions on the line. As a kid, you would have been overjoyed. As an adult who knew the implications of what a journey would entail, you were terrified.

"The best I can do is give you five choices of the world and mission you will complete for me, any language I feel you might require, and the cessation of aging while I have need of you."

Cessation of aging. Great. That meant that he'd 'have need of you' for a long time. Gulping, you manage to squeak out,"I don't suppose I could say-

"No."

"Damn"

You had to choose.

Missions:

[] Feudal Japan under the rule of Hideyoshi Toyotomi: Convince Toyotomi Hideyoshi to end the war with Korea.

[] Alternate World War 2 London, Britain: Prevent the assassination of Alan Turing

[] Modern Day, Seoul, Korea: Prevent the Construction and detonation of the secret North Korean Yi-Sun-Sin Nuclear Missile

[] New York, USA, MCU: Mentor a young superhero

[] 1960 Chicago: Ensure that the United States of America passes the Civil Rights Act and ends the Vietnam War faster than it did in our timeline

AN: Feel free to ask me questions about details, and make Omakes if and when we get into the game proper. Omakes will have an impact on rolls!

[X] No

Edit: [X] Alternate World War 2 London, Britain: Prevent the assassination of Alan Turing

I thought the common courtesy for quests you didn't like was just to...not post on them, as long as they weren't breaking any rules?

I'm voting for this option not because it's the right choice, or even a choice. I want to see him rage. He is literally being placed into slavery. As he has no choice in the matter, because he gave someone 200 bucks. Saying no is the right choice, because it isn't a choice.

He isn't a servant or a forced worker. He's not getting paid for it. No matter how you phrase it he is being placed into slavery and is being asked where he's going to work as a slave.

Edit: so by saying no, he is rebelling against the unfair conditions. He is rebelling against the little choice he is being given, will it screw him over? Maybe, but it is the right choice.

I see. Well, he'll still have to go somewhere, but you better believe that I will acknowledge your write-in for the next update! Thank you for responding, and I apologize for assuming the worst.

if I wasn't interested in the quest I wouldn't have responded, it's as simple as that. The thing is, you've just made me align with the MC, and through that I'm not seeing it as a choice, from a questor's perspective, but what The MC is going to do in response.

The right answer, for the man in that position was refusing, and stand his ground on that. It's basically the only shot he has.

Even in a meta level.
1) if he makes a choice, he is incriminating his own kidnapping, so any beings that might be able to help, are slightly less likely to. Citation? Fae. They screw people over like this all the time, however if the person never once admits or entertains saying yes or anything that can be construed as yes, in some variations they are more than willing to help against unfair play.
2) It's the only chance he has to get compensation. Even isekai stories with grand quests, give the guy something to help him with, besides (potentially) eternal slavery.
2a) Let's assume I'm slightly wrong he was getting some heretoforeunknown ability. giving your slave a knife to cut the grains, isn't compensating the slave its making him able to do the work he's forced to do. Besides B, even if he is able to keep said knife, a knife for a life of slavery, and being let loose in the wilds? (Time passes, never seeing his family again, wilds in this instance is being let loose literally anywhere. Again no promised compensation, besides oh hey we can force you to do this for eternity) Best case it'd make him a forced indentured servant.

but yeah it's Mostly refusal and rage, not at a bad quest, but at me hating the villain(no it isnt right irregardless of his motivations), that is driving my answer. Everything I'm saying here is defense of that hatred against the Planeswalker.
