Modern Stories far to tounge-in-cheek?

While I think the writer of this review of the Ducktales reboot is an arrogant sob when it comes to politics, here he is right about the problems with the reboot. In particular I can sum up his problems with just one statement; the show is too tounge-in-cheek. It's not very earnest, or at the very least tries too hard to being self-aware, but that is a problem with most western media for all audiences these days. Not being "woke" but a general sense of "we know it's ridiculous but just play along"

Look at his statement:
You can't blame them: Go is making bank because it's cheap to make, pleases everyone, appears edgy but is actually about as worrisome as a spoon. DuckTales is CONSIDERABLY better than Teen Titans Go...right now...but I see a lot of the same tactics in place, from the cheap CGI and limited tweening to the complete lack of any seriousness so all arguments against the show are ignored because 'it's a kid's show!'

That last one applies to most media I feel. Your thoughts?
