MCU General

Apparently there have been some poor choices in terms of casting for the Ms.Marvel series.
They cast a non-Muslim Indian woman as Ms Marvel's Muslim Pakistani mother. Also a non-hijab wearing Christian as a hijab-wearing friend of Ms Marvel and an alleged sexual predator - who is specifically described as preying on teenage girls - as a character in a show about... teenage girls. Brilliant.

Also one of the casted actors is apparently a trump supporter

'Spider-Man 3': Alfred Molina Returning as Doctor Octopus

Yeah... odds are climbing that this is going to be a spiderverse movie. I have a feeling that they're actually doing this to have a clean divorce between Spiderman and the MCU, end the film with Peter Parker ended up in the Sony universe, probably.

Sony's trying to attach itself, leechlike to the MCU. There's no way they're going to reduce their movies to irrelevance by dumping the MCU tie ins by moving Spider-man to an entirely separate universe.

Eh, between into the Spiderverse and Venom I think they might believe they've got enough to stand on their own.

I really disagree. Venom didn't do that great, their next film is morbius, whom i don't think anyone cares about. They have venom 2, and a bunch of other SCUM movies, but sony doesn't seem to know how to make a good movie, and when they do, it's entirely by accident.

Yeah, but do they realize that?

Yeah but Sony is run by actual idiots that thought Ghostbusters 3 this time with Aliens would make multiple billions of dollars at the box office.

Sony is the same company that has a gacha game under their music label. I don't think they give a shit as long as they make money eventually and can keep selling their esoteric gaming PCs in the process.

I disagree. Venom was a good movie. I look forward to seeing the sequel.

Barring current circumstances, I would go see a Morbius movie since I have a soft spot for his Amazing Stories-style "SCIENCE!" vampire origin and some fond memories of his appearance in the 90s Spiderman cartoon. Unfortunately they cast Jared Leto so nevermind.

Could be multiverse stuff though, or could be, everything is canon except for the stuff that isn't.

I'd rather not have any multiverse shenanigan's in Spiderman 3, that would just annoy me and let some people keep claiming the Netflix shows and Agents of SHIELD aren't part of the MCU when they are.

The netflix shows aren't, since the guy who played Luke Cage is now playing Blade.
I'm pretty sure that guy played a villian and not Luke Cage himself, and Gemma Chan is already playing multiple roles in the 'main' MCU, so the precedents been set otherwise.

Gemma was in CM for like 2 minutes total, was in heavy make up, and her old character is dead, so....

If Daredevil is indeed going to be in Spiderman 3 like rumors suggest, then the Netflix show are and always have been part of the MCU, as is Agents of SHIELD like I've been saying all along.

If Charlie Cox being cast as Daredevil is a point in it's favor, then someone else from the show being cast as someone else is a point against it. Sorry. (don't see why you think Cox being in SM3 means that AoS is canon)

Alfre Woodard appeared in Luke Cage as Mariah Dillard four months after playing a small role as a different character in Civil War, for whatever that indicates. Which might just be that Marvel doesn't worry overly much about reusing actors.

However, according to the link posted above, Charlie Cox as Daredevil in Spider-Man 3 is just a rumor, and one that Cox denied the last time that somebody asked him, so let's not get too worked up until there's official confirmation.

I'd like it if the Marvel films were acknowledging Marvel tv shows as canon, much like how I'd have liked it if Star Wars movies acknowledged Star Wars novels as canon, but I never got my wish then so I'm not going to worry overly much about it now.

Well, I mean, CM is clearly canon. The Netflix shows aren't clearly canon. I mean, you might as well argue that Jk Simmons coming back as Jameson means that the old spider-man movies took place in the MCU.

Okay, but it also means that it's difficult to argue that the reverse is true.

It just means that an actor's previously roles can't be an argument one way or the other.
My own suspicions would be that they could just do a big 'why not both?' approach and do the multiverse thing with Marvel Netflix being a different universe in-universe.

This is the healthy attitude to have.

I already assumed that the netflix marvel stuff was a different universe. (that's explict, since the MCU is a different universe in the comic's multiverse, so it stands to reason that so are the netflix shows, and AoS. And really, every single thing ever produced with a marvel character in it that isn't explicitly in the MCU, or a previously established universe)
