Voting is closed, I'm unsure how the one-offs votes work exactly. But IMO it didn't win. @Cariyaga traded in some audit XP for 1 FP (at a rate of 5XP for 1FP) which should be reasonably safe IMO. I'd say that goes from "not ideal" to "should be safe unless disaster strikes"

Good thing we're racking up those Jashin points.
Yeah I'm fine with that I just had (dog cupcake ptsd meme) a moment of watching earth infusion slip further and further away.
Two fate points! What do you need three fate points for?! 40 xp is way too much to spend! Etc

I think I've came up with a pretty clever idea how we can improve macerators without doing a complete rework of them. The idea is that we add in a rocket boot type component. So the chunks of granite shoot out normally and then they are pushed forward by the rocket to make them even faster.

Some sort of acceleration field around the exit of macerators? Attaching a rocket to the debris seems hard because you can't seal seals, but I can see a rocket boot pushing things along at an exciting speed.

Pretty much this. I want to combine Macerstors and a version of rocket boots into one seal. So the granite gets unsealed first and then after a tick it fires of the explosion which pushes it forward
Sounds almost like the opposite of directional explosives which is kinda funny

Directional explosives explode then seal a certain part of the explosion

Now we've come full circle to unsealing a projectile, then using a modified directional explosive on it

EDIT: I think we've been told putting combined functionality into a single seal is ordinarily very hard if not impossible but this is pretty easily achievable using MARS

This would also allow us to angle the projectiles, which has potential for fun stuff.

I agree that a MARS prototype would be pretty easy and if it's busted good we can try to make a single seal.

Will a seal still work if you add a line of normal(non-infuseable) ink to a finished seal, after the ink is dry and the infusion is done?
The goal being to obfuscate the actual seal underneath.

I'd expect this to work, except that we've never seen anyone do it. So I'm guessing it isn't possible, or there's some prohibitive complication.

Black-paper seals are a good notion, but I suspect shining a light through them would reveal the ink.
Does sealing paper need to be thin? Could we commission black paper made 3mm thick to minimise the ink's shadow?

Although it is worth noting that obfuscating our seals don't fully solve our MARS OpSec issues. The seal is easy to make, if anyone sees it in action, they can potentially copy it.

Still, better to Obfuscate than not, and it will help for many seals/situations.

Basically a rocket. It's easier to make this work if we propel the macerator itself forward.

Are the maceraors adding much? Why not just hit them with MARS-activated quartet of Directional Explosives?

Actually, why aren't we useing Directional Explosives more regularly as part of our combat kit?

Honestly because Macerators 3.0 are basically as good as Kagome's blast rings. They're slightly less deadly but avoid friendly fire and have better range

Da rules said:

Blast Rings

Kagome's shaped charge rings work as follows:
  • Range: Melee (-1)
  • Narrow-angle blast version: Weapon:2, uses Taijutsu + 3, no Ninja Hands bonus.
Wide-angle blast version: Weapon:1, uses Taijutsu + 6, no Ninja Hands bonus. Hits all targets in melee range except the user. At QM discretion, may also affect people in the same zone but not in melee. Serious potential for friendly fire.

Hazō finishes Macerators v3! Tentative mechanics: the new macerators have exit velocity 25 m/s instead of 20 m/s, and are mechanically identical, except that Macerator v2s provided +3/+0/+0 to hit when in melee/in the same Zone/in an adjacent Zone, and the Macerator v3s provide +6/+3/+0 to hit when in melee/in the same Zone/in an adjacent Zone.

Suction Seal:
A tag that creates a continuous "suction" effect around a point a few inches offset from the seal. Intended to be placed on a box with a tube sticking out, so that the tube can be used in surgeries to suck up blood or other fluids. Like that thing they use at the dentist!

I thought that a long time ago, we got a slow version of Implosion Seals in order to test SINs. Wouldn't that work here?
