If you want you can take a look at the most-recent incarnation of that section, as it's probably slimmer than what you have now while communicating what I felt was important.

However, I think that having something in there to address the inevitable accusations of holding back training techniques would be wise. It's definitely going to come up (Mari mentioned that it was obvious we were doing something) and I don't know how far we can afford to tip our hands (saying that they don't have the prerequisite jutsu vs. saying it's based in Shadow Clone, etc.)

The thrust of what I'm saying is, if we say we held nothing useful back, we're going to be challenged on that statement or silently disbelieved to our detriment. In a technical sense, this is true, but our clanmates don't have enough information to appreciate that we're being as straight with them as possible because this is a national security issue, not just our being a selfish clan head.

Why are you framing this as if the scroll hunt is something Ino is asking Hazō to do, when the literal opposite is true? It wasn't her idea and isn't something she has (afaik) ever expressed interest in doing independently. Rather, she's agreeing to Hazō's request to provide her time and expertise toward a thing Gōketsu would have (presumably) done anyway at some point.

I realize now you mean the part where she wants Hazō to be part of the team. I can only say that I have trouble imagining the players voting to send only NPCs off on such a quest.

It's something I would like to do, Paper has given his personal stamp of approval and made an offhand comment, expressing interest in writing scenes where Hazou gives training plans to newer Goketsu ninja. While the other QMs have made no comment one way or the other, we have at least one QM who has expressed interest in it.

You call it bad ROI, I call it a spoon-positive thing to engage with. If you don't want to engage with it, you don't have to.

And, as for limited time, Hazou's free time isn't really eaten up by those training plans. We've had two on-screen questions for Noburi about his build, and that was because he wanted to pick up Earth Element for NOBURI Roads. Kei and Akane's preferences were always regulated to author's notes, or when we did some spreadsheet magic to give Snowflake 10 hours of life.

Yeah, I don't think I'm doing a good job of expressing my point. From EJ's comments, it seems like I disagree with how a particular aspect of the negotiation was modeled.

I'm going to take a few steps back and write something up tomorrow. If the QMs end up agreeing with my reasoning, great: if not, I'll answer any clarifying questions they have and otherwise drop the topic.

This preserves ambiguity about the special training (is it SC related? Or some other state secret?) While communicating that we aren't holding it back by choice, and implying we would share everything if we could.
