A question. What are we going to do if Asuma doesn't deter this kind of behaviour enough? Because i'll be honest, if i were Ritsuo i would take "Crippled ninja dead in exchange of a major enemy(And he sees us as enemy) powerhouse dead" every day of the week. Any clan head would take that bargain every day of the week.
At the end of the day simply executing Ruka doesn't really make this clear, i would go even futher and say that executing Ruka serves no purpose and it kinda distract from actually stopping this kind of behaviour.
I can see Asuma giving us emotional relief by killing the scapegoat and not rocking the boat, so, considering the fact that of course direct action is not possible because Asuma vetoed it.(I'll make it ever clearer, i do not approve direct action)
Are we going to talk to him if he doesn't do enough? Or are we just going to ignore it and wait for another knife in the back? Because i'll be honest, i'm kinda tired of always watching our backs at home, after he explicitly told us we shouldn't need to watch our backs at home.
Considering the current geopolitcal situation, I would want Asuma to give us broader concessions for integrating Uplift ideals further into the wider Leaf culture far more than I want him to punish the Hagoromo. We will get rid of them eventually anyway, either via some means of exile or something much more violent, so any punishment he can impose on them atm is useless to us. We will have our own revenge later, which, of course, he does not have to know. Some more Uplift-aligned proposals can serve to weaken the Hagoromo influence of course. And they can shoulder part of the economic cost as lorekeeprs of the Will of Fire, because if its embodiment dictates that human life is precious, whether that of ninja or civilians, it is only natural the Hagoromo should fund some of the efforts.
I would want to approach the Hokage and tell him that we have cooled down from our outburst, but that we feel we have not been adequately compensated for what has happened, and this situation has impacted us direly, especially with all the doomsday threats we have to try and prevent lately. I would want to state in no uncertain terms that we do hate the Hagoromo, but do not want to weaken Leaf over this, or engage in genocide. Afterwards, I would try and persuade Asuma to integrate Uplift ideals into the Will of Fire, with a focus on civilians. It represents an economic cost, but it doesn't cost Asuma a civil war, turmoil or ninja manpower, and is expected to pay off after some time too, so I think he would be willing to let us have that. In doing so, we can also demonstrate to him that we are loyal (lol) and want all the best for the village. Here are some ideas to float by Asuma:
- Make till & fill and similar missions more lucrative for ninja to perform (simple and easy, helps a lot)
- Societal changes like giving civilians more rights and actually enforcing them
- Using Leaf manpower to migrate civilians from the fringe backwater to cities in the heart of Leaf and fortifying those places, so that Fire Country becomes safer and more urbanized (economy of scale, easier governance and taxation, less space for ninja to patrol and protect hence fewer deaths and more new ninja every year because Leaf would be able to recruit more chakra capable kids into the Academy).
- Giving Leaf sealsmiths (many of whom are of our clan) a permanent Tower stipend for the purposes of equipping genin with seals for free to reduce the lethality of ninja missions.
- Rethinking the Academy system - move the Academy Graduation date up by 2 years, give the children some more time to train and develop their bodies and chakra coils before throwing them out into the wild. Long term would reduce lethality and increase ninja quality. Not like the village couldn't mobilize the last/second last year Academy Students in an emergency anyway, so its no loss in combat power.
