I think the events pictured in the Battle of the Gods are known to the characters. So no need to invent reasons to be interested in Nagi. Are you asking Asuma to go after remnants of Pain's sealing array? It's not quite clear.Perhaps worth bringing up that our "diagnostic seals" detected that there was a massive seal in Nagi recently, specifically where the ritual was taking place. The timing of the GS degrading matches when the ritual occurred, it's possible the two events are related. Someone moved the Nagi seal, it would be helpful to put more resources into finding out what happened to it.
Fair enough, I'll change itNot sure about referring to "Resolve" with that name. Maybe willpower? Mind resistance? And maybe don't mention the Yamanaka. Let him make that connection
This is also reasonable. However, I do think a Yamanaka would make the Squirrel endeavor vastly more likely to succeed. The reason we failed last time was because we were unable to successfully interrogate captives. As for Akane getting a scroll, I think it makes more sense to simply ask Asuma to give freedom rather than support. If he allows us to take Mari, Akane, Yuno, and possibly Noburi, then we can go get the scrolls on a Goketsu-only mission and no one has room to complain. We definitely also want Mari to get a scroll
I do think we should tell him that. We want his attention deflected away from ES, chakra metal is extremely difficult to source. Which would slow him down a lot.We should probably also be less specific on stuff like Kei's bloodline. Ask for lore, ask for the Five, and stuff, but don't connect it to people we know and love.
Finally, not sure about giving Oro the Chakra Metal tip, unless we're asking him to share. We might accidentally accelerate his 3D sealing plans that way
@eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped can we vote in a Conclave plan next update for Vel and deal with Asuma the update afterwards?I personally would like more time before the Asuma conversation, so unless the QMs will let us do more conclave stuff and then retcon that conversation (as they've allowed before, but for obvious reasons they might not want to now) I'll probably only be voting for an interlude
This is requesting personal power without strong justification.
More of the same. Are there any Resolve boosting jutsu that Asuma knows about? The Yamanaka perhaps?
What are we asking for, here? Teaching Ruri EM?It seems to Hazou that having another combatant capable of casting the EM nuke would be a valuable thing to have on the battlefield
We can't ES chakra metal.A possible material to use for 3-D seals is chakra metal. Does the Tower have any lying around?
I don't understand how needing to fix the GS is not the best justification. This is power so that Hazou can fix the seal. This is requesting personal power without strong justification.
More of the same.
What are we asking for, here? Teaching Ruri EM?
We can't ES chakra metal.
It's the best justification but IMO it's insufficient. The problem on our plate is the Dragons. Let's deal with them or at least make headway and then ask for personal power.I don't understand how needing to fix the GS is not the best justification. This is power so that Hazou can fix the seal.
One, we have a hidden motive here and I'd like not to deceive the Hokage. Two, Hazo shouldn't ever be that near the Dragons again.Hazou has rolled Resolve at least once to fight off a Dragon's Out effects. Having a jutsu that boosts it makes him more survivable.
If we want another EM combatant we should ask him to teach Ruri. It gets the same result faster and without empowering Goketsu.Intention is asking for a Scroll for Akane, but you're right that needs to be clarified.
Then we should ask if we can very briefly touch some chakra metal and be clear that our doing so might ruin it.There is no intention to use ES on chakra metal. We are looking for chakra conductive materials that could be used to make 3D seals. Chakra metal is a possibility.
Why not just tell Orochimaru that we think chakra metal is a possibility? He's probably already considered it so I don't think it will help, but it doesn't involve asking Asuma for power.
We're pretty sure, especially relative to the chakra metal theory, which is just speculation.
Er I don't see this happening personally. He's a tactician that will likely be coordinating mass use of seals like he did to kill the first one. That also means being near the battlefield. His reaction to Dragons also lets him sense their presence to a limited degree which is extremely helpful when several of them are nearly impossible to detect (namely, the reflection and night Dragons.) Hazou's tendency to disassociate around Out stuff might also actually help against e.g. the beautiful dragon. I don't particularly want to test that, but it's worth keeping the possibility in mind if, in the worst case scenario, he needs to throw a banshee nuke or something because everyone else is already compromised.
Requires one more person than necessary knowing about EM nuke which isn't how you control the spread of something like thisIf we want another EM combatant we should ask him to teach Ruri. It gets the same result faster and without empowering Goketsu.

It occurred to me that when Oro shows up with Manda he can just bring some.I don't think we're likely to get the Dragon Bits back from Orochumaru, but maybe Asuma can help us plan an arguement to Orochinaru about securing parts for ourselves from the next Dragon Corpse.

[X] Action Plan: To Protect the World from Devastation
- Asuma
- The Great Seal is a puzzle we only have a few pieces of: we need more lore. Records of the sage's works are fragmentary and scattered, but clans have long memories, in the EN, the Seventh Path, and maybe also the Eastern Continent.
- How many other summoners can we convince to show up? Kisame and Grandmaster F are very strong even without the support of their Clans, and even stronger with.
- There are also Clans too far away from Kumokogo and the Conclave to have been a part of this. Can we reach out to them?
- With other summoners fighting, use of EM in the battle poses an OPSEC risk. Is it possible to pretend it's actually something Kumokogo or Enma cast?
- Borrowing a dragon part from Orochimaru for a short time could let us demonstrate it at the Conclave.
- Orochimaru is currently studying 3D Sealing, and will probably obtain it in short order. This may noticeably increase his personal power. If this is problematic, best to prepare ahead of time.
- The main obstacle to 3D Sealing is a lack of chakra-conductive stone. Orochimaru and I are both investigating options, but keep an eye out.
- We should make plans for edge-case scenarios. If a dragon escapes the Crusade and flies off for an indeterminate amount of time, if a dragon somehow makes it to the EN early, it can't hurt to be prepared.
- Thank you for everything you're doing. You have patience for us despite our mistakes, and you took us seriously about the Dragons despite many other pressing matters. The rest of the world is idle but Leaf is moving, and it's thanks to you.
Very similar plans so I'm going to comment on both at once:[X] Action Plan: Responding to Asuma
Word count: idk
- The Dragonwar has 2 objectives: killing Dragons, and repairing the Great Seal. We think the most valuable low-hanging fruit is...is to involve AMITY. And the Akatsuki.
- Akatsuki alone contains 2 S-rank Summoners (Itachi, Kisame) and an S-rank sealmaster (Sasori).
- Several AMITY signatories also have Summoners, and have their own sealmasters (no comment on their skills).
- Hazou doesn't know if any of them will believe us, or if they'll make actual contributions instead of just taking advantage of us. He's not knowledgeable enough to know the cost-benefit analysis.
- But if there were a time for AMITY to be united in a goal, this would be it.
- Other things:
- The Great Seal is a puzzle we only have a few pieces of: we need more lore. Records of the sage's works are fragmentary and scattered, but clans have long memories, in the EN, the Seventh Path, and maybe also the Eastern Continent.
- The main obstacle to 3D Sealing is a lack of chakra-conductive stone. Have you heard of anything?
- Borrowing a dragon part from Orochimaru for a short time could let us demonstrate it at the Conclave.
- We should make plans for edge-case scenarios. If a dragon escapes the Crusade and flies off for an indeterminate amount of time, if a dragon somehow makes it to the EN early, it can't hurt to be prepared.

Clarification: What do we want from lore? I'm willing to add something in but have had trouble with it thus far because I don't know what we are looking for; just general "history of sealing/the Sage" xor...?Neither plan articulates what we want from Asuma with respect to lore, and I think we should include some concrete asks even if it's just 'please task some Nara with undertaking a research project'.
So just adding "tread carefully; Akatsuki is a sensitive topic" would be OK?If we're going to mention the Akatsuki I think we should explicitly tread carefully - the last time we mentioned working with them it went rather poorly. The context here is wildly different but an ounce of prevention etc. etc. My personal preference would be to avoid mentioning the Akatsuki altogether and instead just reference Summoners within AMITY.
Will do.Orochimaru will probably show up with Manda and can display a sample of Dragon parts then. It may be useful to have earlier but throwing the additional fact out there might be an idea.
So maybe just "Thank you for everything you're doing. You have patience for us despite our mistakes, and you took us seriously about the Dragons despite many other pressing matters."? Would that work?I think that the thanks hits the wrong tone. 'Leaf is acting and that's because you're great' feels a little eeh to me. I doubt that Asuma values our opinion on his greatness and providing it implies that we're in a position to pass that sort of judgement.
Contrast this to a desire to live up to his faith in us: we're positioned as subordinate and expressing respect for our Hokage. IMO adding in the personal touch about having seen what it took out of Jiraiya is a good idea because it's a potential bonding moment. Asuma and Hazo are both the sons of now-deceased Hokage and both admired their fathers deeply for their grace under fire, among other things. It also alludes to Asuma's role as a mentor to Hazo, a bond we really, really want to build.
Good point. I was thinking something more along the lines of 'send people out to diplomacy far and wide, with AMITY and with the Eastern Continent, to learn their stories and spread word of the threat', but I agree that something more tangible should be offered as example if nothing else.Neither plan articulates what we want from Asuma with respect to lore, and I think we should include some concrete asks even if it's just 'please task some Nara with undertaking a research project'.
Agreed, partially. It makes plenty sense to have Hazou tread carefully here, admit that it may sound bad given his history, but I do think it needs to be said.If we're going to mention the Akatsuki I think we should explicitly tread carefully - the last time we mentioned working with them it went rather poorly. The context here is wildly different but an ounce of prevention etc. etc. My personal preference would be to avoid mentioning the Akatsuki altogether and instead just reference Summoners within AMITY.
Given that Asuma mentioned Elemental Mastery already earlier in the conversation, I'm assuming this conversation is OPSEC-secure.I don't think that we should discuss EM unless we're doing so very, very obliquely. We are not in a sufficiently secure environment. Quite frankly, I'm not sure it's wise to discuss at all unless it's time-sensitive, and 'here's an idea for a smokescreen' isn't.
Another good point, I would be happy to rework that line entirely to take advantage of that approach.Orochimaru will probably show up with Manda and can display a sample of Dragon parts then. It may be useful to have earlier but throwing the additional fact out there might be an idea.
There's a sense that I wanted to hit, that the rest of the world has heard of the dragons by now (we're not keeping it secret, no way the spies haven't picked up on it) but there have been no Crows in Arachnid, no Kisame showing up, no Maras traveling west. The rest of the world heard of the apocalypse and have done nothing to stop it, and it's easy for me to imagine the feelings of twisting resentment that you'd feel when you see that. Time may as well be frozen everywhere except for Leaf, despite the S-Rankers and Summoners with just as much stake in the outcome as us.I think that the thanks hits the wrong tone. 'Leaf is acting and that's because you're great' feels a little eeh to me. I doubt that Asuma values our opinion on his greatness and providing it implies that we're in a position to pass that sort of judgement.

And let's be real, we're not keeping him away from it forever. Even if we had a heart attack and died, Orochimaru would figure it out on his own somehow....The more I think about it, the more I think we're making a mistake in not providing Orochimaru all of our resources on 3D sealing. Sure, it'll make him stronger in the future, maybe.
But it will also distract him for, like, probably at least a year, and that's a year he's not operating on people as testing subjects for his seals.
