You have to buy the stunt at the end of training, if you don't you have to repeat the training. You need a scroll to buy the stunt
Can't be accepted as a Summoner without a scroll.

No, I was there for that. You just can't buy the stunt in advance. This has nothing to do with having to re-do the training

Kumokogo wants them all dead: I agree that EM is a good opener but I want a few bosses around to deal with what it doesn't catch.

I wonder if justu like that persist after the caster departs the Path.
I don't think Asuma is going to want to use it where other beings can observe, he might be willing tho. But we should still ask him to get a Monkey to Arachnid ASAP. If the Dragons start hunting actively it's a good contingency. We didn't bother before b/c he wasn't a threat to them, now he is.

Note that Kagome started the training but then you guys dumped a whole bunch of seal research on him and told him that it was important, so he let the summoner training go by the wayside. He'll be starting from scratch if he goes back to it.
Not a lot. You didn't give him any time on it before handing him a bunch of seal research that you said was really important.
That's fair. The critical and time-consuming part of summoner training is developing mental habits and techniques, not book knowledge, but starting off with the book knowledge should at least save him a few days off the normal 3 month period. We'll talk about exactly how much; it might not be a game-mechanical benefit but it will at least be accounted for in the narrative.
Found this, which is what my memory was going off of. It's unclear how much of Kagome starting over was him not really starting Summoning training and how much was the mental habits and techniques fading from not continuing to study it.

Also for something like a new elemental nature, if you don't purchase it at the end of the 90 day study then the XP is wasted and you have to start over. So I probably mixed the two together.

Any QMs want to weigh in @Velorien @eaglejarl @Paperclipped, can you do the Summoning training in advance as to skip the three month process when finally getting a scroll? Or does it need to be done right before you sign the contract?

I def don't think the dragons are going to be kill able with strictly physical effects based on their descriptions. Pretty sure it will require some esoteric sealing bs
Skyslicers are a purely physical effect, they killed one just fine. Maybe the most normal looking one. But I bet an EM nuke would get at least some of the remaining ones.
I think it's somewhere in the middle between 'physical effects' and 'esoteric sealing'. We know that the Archaeopteryx could, for the weakest dragons, kill them with raw ordinary firepower. Eventually they escalated to the point where only the Archaeopteryx King's special brand of hax could do any lasting damage, and the clan fell before that stopped being truly effective.

But it's worth noting that Shisoberin's special brand of hax was gravity control, manipulation of an eminently physical effect. Certainly at a high power tier, but still physical. Same with our skyslicers, which "only" produce extreme cutting forces stronger than the hide of these dragons.

The ooze dragon is the most concerning of the bunch, because it looks like it might survive being sliced to pieces as long as those pieces can merge back together again, but the other four remaining dragons probably share the same weakness to skyslicers. Of course, that only helps if we can hit them with it, but with Conjura on our side that doesn't seem impossible. Set up some nets in predetermined locations, and help Conjura line up a space-time ninjutsu that sends them careening into one of the death planes. The last one, the ooze dragon, we could probably handle with sheer massed force by the Bosses of the Crusade, but if that's insufficient we could try to have Conjura yeet it into the middle of an EM nuke and see if that finishes it off.

Of course, all bets are off if more dragons come after that, but the hard part right now seems to be getting past the esoteric effects the Dragons are using, like the fall of night or the ethereal beauty. We need to still be able to wage war on them despite those qualities.

...I wonder if we can create a visor seal, that takes in pure light (and only light, deliberately purging anything hitching a ride with it) and recreating the image on the other side. This could maybe allow us and our great warriors to gaze upon the sight-based Dragons without triggering their effects.

@faflec and other persons of wisdom, who knows about Hazō's séance and his vision of Jiraiya?
To his left rear, kneeling seiza outside the pentagram: Noburi. The little brother Hazō had never known he wanted to wrestle with, mock and be mocked by, fight beside. The one who had given Jiraiya cookies and been named his favorite child.

To his right rear, kneeling seiza outside the pentagram: Naruto. The godson on whom Jiraiya had doted. The hero that he had trained to preserve Leaf against the day that the Toad Sage no longer could.

To his left front, squatting on his haunches: Gamasid. Jiraiya's original contact on the Seventh Path, the one who had carried him back to meet the Toad Boss when he first signed the contract.

To his right front, the ancient, battered, battle-scarred, half-melted forehead protector. The ashes, undoubtedly those of Jiraiya and his traitorous student/murderess admixed, had very deliberately not been wiped away save for one spot at the very center of what had once been the seal of Leaf.

To his front, Mari. Wrapped in the never-before worn wedding dress that had been in her closet since Jiraiya left for the Chūnin Exams the first time. Her hair was wavy from a quick and not-yet-dried wash in the women's baths where the giggling and suds battling were ongoing.
tl;dr Hazou, Noburi, Naruto, Gamasid, and Mari. Also any off-screen spies and Jiraiya (?).

Putting in an official request to the thread-at-large that we actually do this one cycle:

[] Proto-Plan: Radvic's Maxim
  • Do as Noburi suggests, and relax.
  • Maybe you should stop by the academy? The kids love getting visitors, and Hagoromo hasn't accused you of corrupting the youth enough recently.
  • GM a game for the whole class at once, letting them control a single character by voting on a plan. It'll be total chaos, but it'll be fun total chaos, and you can make them think about how best to plan and make decisions as a group.
  • [ie. "Hazou experiences what it's like to QM Marked for Death"]

Honoka:"Really uncle Hazou?, a jutsu hacker stranded in a desert just joined the party?, come on, at least keep it plausible".

HANABI: I'll trade you a vote on the Seven Swordsman Sword Hunting if you join the Jashinism cabal.
HONOKA: Deal. Now what do I need to change in my training plan to get your vote this cycle?
HAZOU: [concern]

The interlude ends with Hazou experiencing an existential crisis and confessing to Kagome, who reacts predictably.
HAZŌ: You know, Kagome-sensei, I just don't feel like myself these days.

KAGOME: [subtly reaching for the explosive tags] What do you mean, Hazō?

HAZŌ: Here I am, working like I'm possessed in order to keep this clan going, while in the back of my head there's this little voice going--

Would you like to roll a new character?

Does anyone have any problems with next chapter taking another look at the great seal since we have effective sealing 70 and ES 40 and getting Asuma to sit up apprenticeship to Tsunade and blackmailing him for letting Noburi down?

Throw in a visit to Mareo (ninja grandpa and also his Scroll), Sanity checks and Mari optimizations, and sure.

I don't think blackmailing the Hokage would be a great idea, especially now, but Mari would catch that. And yeah, trying the great seal again seems like a good idea.

I'd be very careful with word usage here. We can get Hazou executed for treason if we frame things incorrectly to him. Even if we are essentially blackmailing him there's no reason to ever be direct about it to his face.

He has been very careful not to restrict Noburi to Leaf explicitly. I think we should avoid explicitly angling for a quid pro quo over it.

But I agree with the general thrust of this plan.

Yeah there isn't much point in going up to the seal again.

If you wanted to look for 'pure' stone to see if we can work on 3D sealing with better raw material I'd be down for that, though.
