Is it possible to switch, and do Calligraphy before ES ?

Our theory is that Earthshaping will be like Calligraphy but we'll be making 3D seals right? If so, ES 50, gets us a calligraphy skill in the 50s so not as urgent a need to get pen/paper Calligraphy up there immediately.

I expect we'll still have a need to make paper seals sometimes even after we have 3D seals. But more important IMO to understand the possibilities and limits of our new calligraphy stat (which unfortunately requires investing up to level 50) so we can make a more informed decision about how much to invest in the existing one.

Personally I think earthshaping is good for better seal replica. Unlocking 3d sealing would be a nice bonus but something I find improbable to happen

Timeskips!

I think there are three concerns with timeskips.
  1. We'll miss something cool.
  2. Pilot will fumble a situation we would have handled better.
  3. A situation will escalate in the background and when the timeskip stops we'll be faced with a terrible problem.
I'm not that worried about the first point - if it's cool and requires our input it'll interrupt the timeskip, or the QMs will do something clever and show enough of it to be fun. Also timeskipping gets us cooler stuff so it all balances out.

I'm a little worried about the second point but I also trust the QMs to make that call and not have Hazo miserably fumble things when it could have been handed over to the hivemind to catastrophically fumble like the Sage intended.

I am worried about the third point. Let's take the example of Hidan. He came out of nowhere because we were sleeping on the promise we made him. It's conceivable that over that period of time, we could have remembered and done something about it. When we timeskip, we dramatically reduce the amount of time we have available to realize things like that.

If a timeskip is clearly telegraphed (e.g., the QMs say 'hey prepare for a timeskip of X duration in the next few updates') then I have very few concerns in that area - we can dedicate some brainpower to going over everything we have on the boil and setting up contingencies, either in the timeskip plan (I think we should eat the 10 XP brevity penalty and go with 400 words) or in the runup.

If timeskips could happen at any time, then I get a little more nervous because we might well miss that tidying-up period.

I'm comfortable, given my level of faith etc. in the QMs (high! due to their incredible fairness, diligence, and good-naturedness) with a one month timeskip. That gives us enough time to reassess between updates and (generally) make sure we're not letting anything fall to the wayside. Given the level of telegraphing/warning that I'm talking about, that goes up to three months. (I'm not voting because I think that closed.)

They said they are having some trouble with their production process for the physical tickets and they will get back to you as soon as it's sorted out.
Does anyone think this sounds a lot like getting the runaround on a list of Tower seals?

I'd like to talk to Mari or Kei and check that they're actually having problems with a printing press or paper or whatever. My 'I need to wash my hair this weekend' alarms are going off.

Voting for length of time is still open, as of EJ's last, recent-ish post asking folks to still vote.

This should no longer be an issue if Noburi takes the teaching gig

I may also make a plan to get Noburi outta Leaf soon, but this works for me for now, I'd like to see Velorien's take on Harumitsu. @RandomOTP Can you add a clause like "If Noburi is authorized to leave, have him begin escorting Toad Ambassador to Dog."

I'm thinking that we need to wrap up the Squirrel Scroll ASAP if those 4 are going to take on students soon, cuz that will tie them down for longer term missions like this.

Added the Toad thing.

Still need a sealmaster on the other side. How are we going to do that?
We could try enlisting Tsunade for help when it comes to contacting Jiraiya. I'd be willing to bet that out of anybody - besides Orochimaru, she knows how to induce clinical death. I figure we can use this for a stronger, stable ritual to contact J. Plus there might be a general boost we get from having a Sanin overseeing this. Bonus points if she can rope Orochimaru somehow. And if not Tsunade, maybe Kabuto or Noburi and Akane.

De-voting based on the face that Paper says the Asuma scene would be dull.

Y'all. The fact that Paper liked this and EJ marked it as informative is making me think a 6 month time skip really isn't the right play.
Please don't read into it this hard, I was just liking anyone that seriously engaged with the timeskip duration question.

I'd be wary, but overall accepting of a 3 month skip. That's the longest. But I wouldn't describe that feeling as comfortable you know? Kinda borderline. 2 months is more comfortable to me.
It sounds like you wouldn't be comfortable with 3 but would be comfortable with 2. You should vote your preferences so that we account for you in the final tally, rather than having your voice lost in the thread.

I'll discard this as a joke vote unless you can somehow justify the idea that essentially no update ever should be longer than 8 hours (thus necessitating that around 1 in every 3 updates is dedicated to Hazou sleeping...)

Continue working on Minato's First Seal, double invoke to finish in a single cycle.
Suggested edits included, I think we should be invoking somewhat aggressively to finish seals faster. Hazou regenerates FP for just living and Leaf is pretty safe. So spending them on research is a pretty good deal.

@eaglejarl, @Velorien, @Paperclipped

As per Hazou's promise to Ino, we've made it a general rule to have every Goketsu ninja to learn the Yamanaka Stability Jutsu... if the hivemind wants newest batch of adopted Goketsu ninja to learn YSJ, do we have to continuously/manually direct fresh adoptees to do it, or can we safely assume that they are given that direction upon being adopted into the clan?

Some suggestions here. No tab key on my phone's keyboard, apparently...

Edits in the quote.

also i was using ~90-95 percentile. as opposed to virtually minimum bound

Is that seriously the longest update you're comfortable with?

We've benefited hugely from three-day and longer plans. Do you want to have to spend three updates (minimum) with SSA-induced headaches every time we complete a sealing research attempt? 15 updates (ten in-game days, 15 updates, two updates a week, seven IRL weeks at absolute minimum?) for every research cycle? We research seals much more than 5-10% of the time.

Were you uncomfortable with our return from Honey?
